The Littleton in Walsall

Food excellent as always. Service friendly and courteous but very slow this time. There were only four dining (two couples) in the restaurant but there were very long waits between courses so our meal took a little over two hours. Dining this time was a rather too relaxed experience!

First visit, was expecting food of higher quality for its high rating on google maps but slightly disappointed. Food is average. Both the pork belly and the burger were edible, but overcooked and dry. Food quality is the main worry for me to return for my second visit. Fair price but not on the cheaper side. One of the two waitresses was hospitable. Free parking.

Another excellent meal.We have visited the Littleton on many occasions and the food has always been very good. The vegetarian options are superb. This together with the first rate service ensures a wonderful dining experience.

Fantastic staff,brilliant fresh food,which tasted beautiful. Had the cheddar and leek soup for starters, and it was the best soup I'd ever had!

The steak was not hot enough and the pork had very little sauce making it very dry. At no time were we asked if the food was ok We originally went as on our last visit we were told the menu was changing but when there found it had not changed . On our last visit the food was very good.

Visited for the 1st time with my husband and was so looking forward to it as had heard such good things and all our friends go regularly. It was a very mixed visit for us and would have liked to leave a "good" review but there was only average or very good and unfortunately this wasn't very good on this occasion. I am gluten free and thought been as this is a restaurant type environment i would have been able to have most things. When I have been to restaurants they have been able to provide as standard "GF" bread, normally homemade and chips cooked separately so when I placed my order for burger and chips I was shocked I could not be catered for. I was told they do not supply "GF" bread, the actual burger is not gluten free (although this is normally naturally gluten free) and I couldn't have the chips. There were other options but I was disappointed that something so simple was not available. I had chicken wings for starter which were lovely and my husband had soup which he thoroughly enjoyed. My main was ok, had the pork belly but it was not as nice as I had imagined but our real problem was my husbands main. He had steak and all the way through was stringy fat so he ended up wrapping most of it up in a napkin for our dog. I did ask him several times to ask to swap it but because it was students cooking he didn't want to do this. I did explain that him sending the steak back because of the fact it was a bad piece of meat would not reflect on the students as this was not their fault but he was adamant we did not complain so he went without a main. I did not have a pudding but my husband had some apple thing and absolutely loved it, it was huge and could have fed 2 so he was not complaining. All in all a very mixed visit and as much as I wanted to love it, I didn't. As a treat once in a while we go to a nice restaurant as it is difficult to eat out at a lot of pubs being gluten free so restaurants are normally a great option for me so I think I was expecting the same so was disappointed it did not offer the same experience. Would like to point out that all the staff were friendly and knowledgeable.

Relatively pricey, but you really do get what you pay for. Despite the very high rating, the place was plenty roomy and quiet when we arrived. Food was delicious, and service was on point.

We ate the Christmas menu which we had pre ordered. Service was timed perfectly and at no time did we feel rushed, all staff were friendly and helpful. The food not only looked good but tastes good too. I have eaten here several times before and will return again.

The Christmas lunch menu was absolutely impressive. It's worth the wait and what you pay for. Accessible to wheelchair users. With pay parking area. each course meal is well plated. Went With Hubby And Would Recommend To Friends And Be Back Again. Enjoyed My Time Here and The Food And Drink On Offer.

This was our first visit. I have to remind myself that this is a training environment for students but there should be someone in charge, who is identifiable to direct the students on how to present a menu and how to place a dish in front of customers. However, four courses for £35, amuse bouche counted for one course. Amouse bouche lacked any seasoning, orzo starter, well cooked but again lacked seasoning. My wife had fish, Coley, which was nice. I had chicken breast on a bed of curry sauce with hassleback potatoes. My whole dish was luke warm at best, the curry sauce was overpowering, and the hassleback potatoes were not crispy. The chicken was lovely and moist and I ordered a side of triple cooked chips which were super hot, expensive at £4, I only wish the rest of my dish was that hot. I had cheese and biscuits which consisted of Brie, blue cheese and cheddar together with chutney. My wife had Pain Perdue which was well presented and tasty. The restaurant is more like a cafe, not cosy, so don't choose it if you want a romantic evening. Overall would I go again? probably not. If you are ever near the Lake district try to book a table in the restaurant at Kendal College. On a final note; there is parking on an evening next to the college. Drive up to the barrier and press the call button, security will let you in. The barrier opens automatically on exit.

The food was absolutely super delicious and the staff were extremely friendly. I think this place deserves the attention it gets, if not more. Don't underestimate the quality of the food.

Excellent food, service and wonderful selection of cocktails. Loved the speciality toffee apple Martini. Highly recommend. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

The staff were all friendly and very helpful. The food was delicious, a lovely varied menu. A starter and main were more than enough, couldn't manage a dessert although they they looked and sounded delicious. First time I'd been but will definitely be going again, thank you.

TripAdvisor wins again. I lived in Walsall 30 years ago, and I have rarely visited since. My Mother still lives there and we decided to take her out for lunch this week. I looked on TripAdvisor and noticed the 5 star rating for the The Littleton... How very well deserved this rating is. I had a *superb* piece of belly pork, for which our server (Bonnie - what a great host) apologised in advance that it might take a bit longer than normal due to its size - who am I to complain about that! She was quite right too, a very generous portion cooked to perfection. Accompanied by a fondant potato to die for, it was an excellent plate of food. No complaints from my wife and mother either - both had very generously portioned dishes - a fish burger and BLT ciabatta respectively. Both were cooked to perfection and very nice presented. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and I can't wait to go again. Just need an excuse to be in Walsall...

Lovely restaurant with a warm and cozy atmosphere. The food is delicious but slightly limited and quite expensive which is why I've given it 4 stars. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Now the opening times are later I will visit socially as well as for business. Definitely recommend

Great food and lovely atmosphere! Had a fantastic evening with family just to catch up. The food tasted beautiful and the staff were very friendly and helpful. A very special night! Had the Mediterranean orzo to start, steak and pepper sauce which just melted on the mouth and the chips were triple cooked so were perfect, and had cheese and biscuits to finish again the cheese was perfect and so creamy, and I requested no Blue cheese and which they accommodated. I also had a Mocktail - Elderflower Fizz very refreshing, and a Tia Maria floater coffee. Thanks to all the staff for a fantastic evening and meal! My compliments to all at the Littleton!!

I can’t believe such a great restaurant is so tucked away, not spoken about and not busy every night it’s open! I highly highly recommend coming here, especially for the price! £35 for such high quality of food, 4 courses, is unheard of and well worth the visit. We’ve been meaning to come here a long time and it lived up to the expectations. The mains were by far the best part of of the meal, with the lamb dinner (of sorts) and mushroom risotto being the stars of the show. The jacket potato purée was divine btw! The starters were gorgeous too, but unfortunately the deserts didn’t quite hit the same bar. Despite this, the whole evening of food was thoroughly enjoyed, with healthy portions, good service and a nice atmosphere, although a tad quiet. With a large range of drinks options, and an comfortable interior easy on the eye, there’s really no reason you shouldn’t come! Great for larger groups and little celebrations :)

Been a few years since we first visited The Littleton and I'd did not disappoint. We (me and my wife) had the burger and fish & chips with a side of battered onion rings (plenty, good size, crunchy) with soft drinks. Food and service were really good. You will need to book though!

I've been there for breakfast the other day with my friend and I usually don't like to go places for breakfast cz I'm hard to please with how things are done so I love best the way I do my breakfast especially when it's vegetarian but we decided to try something new. Had an evening meal with husband . Comfortable and warm restaurant , decorated beautiful and modern . Food was excellent one of the best 5course meals I’ve had in a long time . Staff very attentive. The only criticism I have is due to maybe the room itself was that it was extremely noisy and loud we had to almost shout to hear each other. The noise of the room is the only negative comment .

Although this is not classed as a ‘fine dining’ restaurant, we have enjoyed some wonderful food, well presented, by attentive staff (but not over bearing) in our opinion a 5 course meal for under £40, what’s not to like. Congratulations to all 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I went for lunch with my sister and the food was delicious, I had the beer battered fish and triple cooked chips , they was really tasty, my sister had a beef noodle dish which she enjoyed a lot, we both had Bailey's creme brulle for dessert and that was so nice, we would definitely recommend the littleton, I would go back there again
