The Little Viet Kitchen in Islington

Hands down the best Vietnamese food in London. Service is always impeccable and chef Thuy never fails to cook up a storm. The beef pho and lemongrass chicken are must try's as well as the home made cocktails! I can't recommend The Little Viet Kitchen highly enough.

Food is lovely but very expensive feel is over priced for the area. Water has nice touch with the cucumber not a fan of wine out of a tumble glass would expect a wine glass with the prices they charge.

Unfortunately as with a lot of trendy restaurants the table was tiny and sandwiched tightly in between two, 3 panelled Louvre shutters which made it claustrophobic, and dark. Perhaps a covid thing. We ordered 5 dishes and literally 15 minutes later they all turned up at once leaving us scrambling for space. Little plant had to go and water put on the floor. Spring rolls look nice, but were bland not meaty and the diagonal cut made them cold quickly. Sauce was ok. Ribs tasty but over sauced with their sticky sauce, I can see people liking these but I say, salty and overpowering the pork. Whole fish very tasty, the best dish. But all the sauces have a similar theme so we didn’t have a variety of flavours really. Breaded prawns were crispy and soft inside with a Mayo type sauce that was tasty and this dish was different but not great. I think of Vietnamese as more subtle and herby but with the menu that evening it was all a bit “same same but different “ as they say in Asia. We purposely avoided the Pho as we had it many other places. Would have been nice to see the prawn pancakes or other herby dishes that night. We had. Pork ribs, breaded prawns, pork spring rolls, fried sea bass, chicken dumplings. 2 beers £75. Individually and spaced out nice enough dishes, perhaps, except the spring rolls, But everything turned up at once and made the meal table busy and rushed . We were out in an hour and bloated. 5/10.

Without a doubt the best Vietnamese I have been to. Such a great place and unbelievable food. Friendly service and somewhere special. A real gem of a place

My favourite restaurant in London! The pho is unbelievable - highly recommend going here it’s fantastic.

Amazing food, amazing flavours Food prepared with great care. As we are regulars, more veggie/vegan options would be icing on the cake for us but there are still enough to enjoy as is. Fab cocktails too, we love this place.

I chose the Special surf and turf and it was amazing!!! Very tasty. My boyfriend chose the Pho and he said it has been one of the best he tasted so far in London.

Tuvimos el especial "surf and turf" También unas bolas de masa (pollo) y Costillas (trae toallitas que parecía un niño de dos años después) Y unos cócteles. . . . Volveremos !

Good ambience, tasty food, nice decor and friendly staff.

This was our first visit to this restaurant, the staff were friendly and helpful. We haven’t eaten Vietnamese food before... we shared prawn crackers and Chicken dumplings they were amazing as were our mains and we shared the lightest cheesecake. We will definitely return!

Fantastic service, and incredibly delicious food. Loved it so much even bought the book, which Thuy ( the incredible chef signed for me)🙏 We came here after seeing so many delicious pictures spread across the Instagram pages of celebrities, I thought if these guys are raving about it, then I need to go! I wasn’t at all disappointed! The little place has around 10 tables so be sure to book. I think pre Covid there was a few more but the space I. Their is wonderful and you wouldn’t notice where they used to be. You feel distanced from everyone and have plenty of room to pile up the deliciously authentic dishes. As Thuy was originally from Vietnam and has been in london 30 years, she has put a slightly different twist on some of the dishes. Some have a taste of Thailand too, which I love! We’ve been twice in the last week or so as we desperately wanted to try so much in the ever changing menu and didn’t want to miss out.. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves, but suffice to say, I left satisfied, full and with a beautiful taste In my mouth..

Wonderful service by the staff, the food arrived quickly at the table and was extremely comforting and tasty. The large plates were quite pricy and the rice portion was slightly less than what would be needed accompanied with a large dish however on a whole, would return and try the rest of the menu!

We were made to rush our meal, the waiter standing behind our table until we finished eating. I understand the turnarounds are tight, but this was extremely uncomfortable. All our food arrived at once, and the bill was expensive for what we ordered.

We had a thoroughly delightful meal at Little Viet Kitchen. The food looked and tasted amazing. The lychee martini also did not disappoint! The service was attentive and efficient. Thank you for a really enjoyable evening.

Loved everything about it. The service was the perfect balance of attentive but not encroaching. The food was delicious; we wanted to try everything on the menus but decided upon Pork Spring Rolls, soft shell crab salad and then the beef pho & beef curry completely delicious. Finished off with a mango coconut milk cheesecake which was so light, my boyfriend said it was the the best dessert he’d ever had. Also felt well managed in Covid times. Will definitely be back

I've been here several times and it's always fantastic. I love the decor, the staff are friendly but professional and the food is delicious. A lot of it is pretty hot so this place might not be for you if you don't like chilli. They also have a few vegan dishes too - I had the tofu and lemongrass curry and the most amazing lemongrass sherbet.

This was not our first trip to LVK - every time we come the food is sensational. Every course, the drinks menu, the teas, the service, the wonderful head chef downstairs, all these components make it one of our all time fave spots to eat at. We will be back!

Primero los aspectos positivos: - Pequeño restaurante no comercial agradable - Servicio atento (advertencia a continuación) Lo que no fue genial: - El menú de comida que está en línea no es el menú que obtienes en el restaurante. Las albóndigas de entrada estaban demasiado cocidas y parecían estar fuera de un paquete congelado no casero. Las magníficas gambas frescas que ves en IG no son las del restaurante. En su lugar, obtienes langostinos empanizados tipo Islandia muy caros. Aprecio que el menú haya cambiado debido a covid, pero luego no publique fotos de comida que no esté sirviendo en IG y actualice su menú en línea. - La ensalada de papaya y cangrejo era cara con muy poca vista de cangrejo. - El plato principal de salmón estaba aburrido. No tiene nada de emocionante. - El plato principal de berenjena estaba poco cocido - le dijimos esto al camarero y él respondió que así es como los vietnamitas cocinan la berenjena. ¡Realmente no lo creo! La mayor parte del plato no era comestible. - Iluminación muy oscura: no puede ver lo que está comiendo. - El servicio fue rápido. No es la comida relajada y tranquila que esperábamos. Lamentablemente, esta fue una comida cara a 85, incluidas 3 bebidas (comida por un total de 60). Puedes mejorar mucho en otros lugares. Tenía muchas ganas de apoyar a este restaurante para que fuera independiente. Tenía grandes esperanzas, pero no funcionó.

I love Vietnamese food. I travelled all over Vietnam in 2017 and ate some of the best food I've ever eaten. I'm constantly searching for good Vietnamese in this country and have found some very good ones indeed. The Little Viet Kitchen is by far the best I've found so far. Every dish was outstanding, cooked perfectly with well balanced flavours and excellent ingredients. The restaurant is quaint and inviting with a well stocked bar that serves really good cocktails. The staff and owners were all friendly and helpful. I can't wait to go back!!

The food here is normally excellent but felt it was slightly below par on Friday. Crab salad dressing a bit too sweet for me nd the crab was tasteless. I didn’t particularly enjoy a pork dish roasted for 6 hours but that was totally my fault -I don’t like pork belly fat (doh!) - but was beautifully cooked. My husband really enjoyed pork spring rolls and the beef burger. However, the bill for 2 was £90 which for two courses, one glass of wine and two beers seemed steep. Finally, the menu has been shortened which is totally understandable in these times but there were no pho and no spring rolls. I am sure they will be back when things settle down and we will certainly be back. The staff are terrific.

Absolutely delicious food that satisfied our post-lockdown craving for Vietnamese food, and brilliantly unusual cocktails. All felt safe, with speedy service.

Had been to LVK once before and had a great experience so expectations were relatively high. Such a great menu and every dish we ordered was extremely fresh and full of flavour. If having a cocktail I'd reccomend the pandan cooler and for me the beef pho in 'home comforts' section is a must. We may have over ordered with the prawn curry, broccoli side, pork dumplings and prawn crackers but finished everything as was so good. Service was excellent and staff seem passionate about the place.

Very nice food and quick service, however we had the impression that the Little Viet Kitchen is very commercial, especially with all the news about a pop-up event in Abu Dhabi. We read the unique story of the start of this restaurant, but we were not sure if this is more of a cafe/bar or a restaurant. Three men in a rush run the place and the whole place is super crowded. Small tables. Very dim interior lighting and we needed our cellphones to read the menu. High range prices. Good choice of Vegan dishes and Vegetarian friendly Menu. I regret that we got a strange look from the waiter when I asked not to pay the Service tax. We will come back.

I booked a table for two at this cafe, I had to give my full bank details, I was told that this was what ‘all high class restaurants do’. And (if I cancelled without giving 24 hrs notice there is a charge of £10 per person). This cafe is overpriced, it promotes itself as street food well the prices certainly are not. The food is unhealthy salty and the meals are really not that good, the rice was dry and the dumplings were stale. The prices are ridiculous high for a cafe. Are you a cafe or a restaurant? I don’t like your ethos and feel like there is a dishonesty to your approach and you are elitist.

Arrived at 5.30, was done by 6.15. Super fast and friendly service, delicious and flavourful food. Would highly recommend.

1. Firstly and most importantly take time to read Dave K's responses to Terrible and Poor reviews. He is so arrogant and despite saying on his menu 'we can strive to improve' I found the contrary (my opinion Dave K - so please resist correcting me as you do with so many of your negative reviews!) 2. On the website gallery picture 2 & 3 show 3 tables in a row besides the entrance on Friday 6th March there were 4 in the same space which made my whole experience pity battery hens even more for the rest of my life. Even 3 tables look close together I am sure you will agree? 4 tables mean a) either the space between he tables is even less or b) they have changed the tabes for even smaller ones. 3. All the food was brought to our table less than 5 minutes after ordering rather than in the usual staggered 'when it is ready sharing style' - hence not even space for myself and my host to have a small plate each to eat our food off. 4. The Crab, papaya and deacon said was pretty poor and the dim lighting meant it was hard to see what you were eating let alone find the tiny pieces of crab or papaya. Conclusion nice food spoilt by cramped seating, rushed staff, unpleasant owner/manager who thought offering me a free desert was a good solution - I declined. he took our carafe of wine off the bill ( highly overpriced substandard wine in the first place) service and gave 1 free dessert but the bill still came to £65.00 so I guess we would have been expected to pay £95.00 otherwise.

If you want good authentic Vietnamese food,this is that place.Not just the food,the service was spot on.Cant fault this place.

I was blown away by the crispy sea bass. It was divine. The side of ginger pak choi was gorgeous. I can’t believe I’ve never been before. The restaurant is meticulous, pretty, welcoming, relaxing, serene, inviting, confident, inventive, fresh and wonderful! Love, love, love.

Unfortunately we were disappointed. The food was quite tasty but not at all authentic. I’m of Vietnamese descent and all the dishes didn’t taste like Vietnamese food. I thought the portions were on the small side for the price and very expensive compared to other Vietnamese restaurants we go to. The service was good and attentive but we will not be returning

Beautiful fragrant fresh food in a vibrant fun atmosphere. Service was excellent too - friendly and helpful. We had a selection of starters and mains in a tapas style - all hot, well seasoned and full of flavour. We’ll be back.

The restaurant didn’t disappoint after reading several reviews previous to my visit with three friends. The food, ambience and service were exceptional.

Cute little place with really nice food. I had some street food tofu... I can’t remember what it was called but it was really good. I also had a coconut mock tail which was really refreshing. The only downside is that the service charge was automatically put onto the bill. We would have paid it anyways, but we didn’t realise and it really confused us and our calculations when splitting the bill!

Amazing food and atmosphere. the salmon and the prawn curry were outstanding. highly recommended.

Super meal with colleagues. Service attentive and our starters were so tasty - so enjoyed the crab salad and tiger prawns. We had over-ordered so then desperately made room for our main courses. Special mention for lamb chops and pork. Decor welcoming and staff so friendly coupled with the Chef's excellent cooking skills, can't wait to go back.

Lovely venue. Very cosy and homely. Good service, nice cocktails and tasty food as well. I have expected slightly better value for money, found the mains a little pricey for what I usually pay for in authentic Vietnamese restaurants but I reckon LVK has the advantage of the ambiance. All in all, I'd probably visit again, was happy with the evening I had at LVK :)

Best food I’ve ever eaten. Seems an extreme claim but my wife and I love Asian food and this is the best we’ve had. Staff and ambience are great and every dish was a knock out. Couldn’t recommend higher.... 5 ⭐️

Encontré este restaurante por casualidad y no podría estar más feliz de haberlo probado. No hay cola a las 12 pm y ofrecen un menú especial. El rollito de primavera de cerdo es crujiente y debe probarlo como aperitivo. También me gustaría recomendar su pato especiado vietnamita con fideos para aquellos que prefieren comer un plato especial. Volvería allí de nuevo, espero que pronto.

This is THE best Vietnamese Restaurant in all of London. Hats off to Thuy Pham and her team. I will definitely recommend to any friends or family - the food was quite simply outstanding, every ingredient you can taste is so FRESH and bursting with flavour.

Fell upon a gem. Came upon this place by accident. Service was top notch, food was excellent, great selection of wines to compliment the food. Owner came and said hello and checked we were happy. Superb evening in a great atmosphere

Make sure that you go with the intention to share a few things, so that you can taste as much as possible. The cocktails were well-balanced and easy to drink. The food comes out very quickly and all at the same time. Bear this in mind when ordering. It was all delicious. Especial favourites were the smoked aubergine dish, the crispy tofu, and the duck curry.

Sin duda este es uno de los mejores restaurantes en los que he estado. ! Fui llevado por uno de mis clientes de negocios ya que nunca hubiera sabido que este restaurante existía e impresionado es un eufemismo. Cuando llegamos, un camarero muy acogedor nos llevó a nuestra mesa y nos dieron un extenso menú de bebidas. Comenzamos con cócteles que estaban deliciosos y luego elegimos nuestra comida. Tuve el chorizo como refrigerio y luego algunas opciones de comida callejera para comenzar y compartir. Teníamos la brocheta de carne de res y langostinos tigre, ambos estaban llenos de sabores y especias y pedí mantener la salsa de los langostinos, ya que estaba tan delicioso. El plato principal tuve el cerdo y mi amigo tenía las chuletas de cordero, así que compartimos una y otra vez que ambos tenían un sabor fantástico y suficiente! ! Pedimos una porción de arroz y fideos que, para ser sinceros, apenas tocamos ya que ambos platos nos llenaron. ! No puedo comentar sobre los desiertos, ya que desafortunadamente no pudimos encontrar espacio, ¡pero definitivamente regresaré y la próxima vez con mi familia, ya que les encantaría! ! ! ! ! El restaurante estaba lleno cuando llegamos, pero tenía un ambiente muy agradable y variado y no nos sentimos presionados o fuera de lugar. Hay espacios en el bar si quieres comer solo o tener una comida relajada para 2 de ustedes.

Once you visit, you will always return! Everything about The Little Viet Kitchen is incredible, but it's the true vision and love of food that shines through. Have the Special Beef Pho for sure, but the Sea Bass is incredible and so too are the veg and vegan dishes. Just heaven!

Their website does not tell you that you can only order from a set menu at lunchtime...we travelled all the way from Surrey to go there & were disappointed we couldn’t choose from the extensive full menu...as were other diners who also weren’t aware it was set menu only...the food was delicious but it was just a disappointment as wanted items from the main menu...

Fantastic stuff all round. Will certainly be returning and will look forward to also checking out the cocktails should I visit again when it's not a dry month for me

Flavourful delicious food, reasonably priced, great portions, and a lovely buzzy but not-too-loud environment.

The food is outstanding here. It was very busy on a Saturday evening so the service (apart from the owner) was not great. But will definitely be returning.

A great find in the backstreets of the market! It’s a cozy place (we were elbow to elbow with guests at our neighbouring table). We weren’t quite prepared for the quality of the food 🥘 outstanding!
