A brilliant neighbourhood Vietnamese with a full menu of vegan and veggie options alongside meat options. Delicious dishes, great value, lovely staff. My go-to when dining with veggie friends, never disappointed.

!! Cash Only !! Lovely Vietnamese restaurant. The mixed starter was very generous, with four summer rolls between two. I had the classic beef Pho, it was lovely. A beautiful rich broth, all the usual toppings. My dining partner had the Imperial Chicken, lovely sauce. We shared the garlic broccoli, which was also great. Service was attentive, to the point we thought we were being rushed. But letting the staff know relaxed the environment. We will be coming again. This is a cash only establishment, the post office on the other side of the road towards Highbury and Islington is free. The petrol station on the same side charges.

A party of three, ordered the Nem Platter for 2 (cost £9). Asked for 2x platters (because the platter is meant for two people) and figured an extra platter wouldn't hurt, and we'd all share. They brought out one. Fine, no big deal. We weren't going to create a fuss. The bill came and the third person was charged an extra £9. We mentioned it to the server, and there must've been some miscommunication. Apparently the platter for two costs £9, and anybody extra is charged an additional £9 a head. By that logic, if there were four people at the table and they ordered one platter, then they'd profit from the third and fourth person by £9 each (but only get the equivalent meal for two people?). This doesn't make sense. We're better off ordering three small plates that would feed three people, as opposed to a platter that is meant for two, but charged out for three people. Felt ripped off.

It’s a first time for us and we really enjoyed the food. Very tasty and recommended.

Great food, cute and cosy atmosphere and excellent service. Our waitress was really friendly and they went out of their way to talk through all of the gluten free meal options. Loads of great vegetarian and vegan options, would recommend the mango and mushroom salad - super fresh!

Delicious food - I’m vegan and there’s an entire section with options for starters, mains, curry’s, pho and salads. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant is perfect for family / friends / to go with your partner. I had the vegan duck curry, summer spring rolls to start. My partner had the caramelised pork and chicken wings to start. Both loved it. Price is very reasonable too, had 2 carafes of white wine.

Excellent vegan menu with varied and exciting dishes. The vegan scallops were sensational, as was the vegan duck curry. Summer rolls were really nice. Vegan bbq pork noodle salad was incred. Decent portion sizes for the price, big fake tree gave some quality ambience. We will be back!

Fantastic range of vegan options with great taste at a very reasonable price. Their small plates are actually more like ‘medium’ do you don’t need too many for a meal. A few at our table ordered quite a few small dishes to share - a great way to sample the many different flavours and textures. Good for meat and fish eaters too.

Did not expect this to be so good. The food was absolutely 10/10, totally recommend the duck curry, and the beef brisket. Incredible flavour, quality ingredients, attention to detail, and reasonable prices. Loved the lemongrass jasmine tea, comes with ginger and it’s just a delight. Lovely atmosphere, instagram folks will approve. The only fault was they don’t have high chairs for babies, but the staff was great and helped us get comfortable. We are definitely going back to try more items on the menu. If you visit, be advised this restaurant accepts cash only.

This is one of my favorite restaurants, and it is definitely my favorite Vietnamese restaurant! This place is a dream for vegans and vegetarians. Get the salt and chili vegan chicken- it’s out of this world. Some of the best vegan chicken I’ve had! The staff are also so friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend! Be sure to bring cash ❤️

Been here twice already and having tried both the vegan and non-vegan menu I’m confident to say that this is hands down one of the best vietnamese restaurants i’ve eaten at in London!

Ordered a platter which was mainly lettuce! on the menu as meal for 2 when discussing with the lady we believed was £9 to share was actually £18. It was mainly lettuce in different forms Also ordered the sweet chicken main meal and got a breaded chicken cut in slices, lettuce cut up tomatoe served on a small puddle of flavourless water with drops of honey for “sweet flavours” When we spoke with the waiter about the price of the platter he said everyone else in the resturaunt can read quite rudely when their menu has a unique layout running through however that particular one has it written smaller in brackets with the price for 1 person in bold making it misleading at a glance. Worst the “platter” was really 2 spring rolls & cold prawns wrapped in a lot of lettuce and a couple strips of calamari which was quite chewy The couple next to our table ordered soup which one of our parties also ordered and said it was flavourless. They drank some left some change and walked out. The coconut mocktail was awful we sent it back… service wasn’t great at all one particular gentlemen was quite rude. (he may of been the bartender with glasses) It was cold in there so we had to eat with our coats on. special fried / egg fried rice was okay however didn’t have much flavour. Needed salt. cash only which was inconvinient. Won’t be returning anytime soon. Ambiance was okay could have been better.

The food was really taste, we got recommendations from the staff and it was definitely the right choice.

I used to live very close by and came often to this little Vietnamese place, I went for the first time in a year yesterday and it’s really changed! We had booked a table for 2 and without warning were given less than an hour on it, the waitress (pink hat and hospital gloves) very rudely told us what to order and how much, no desserts or coffees offered, asked to leave while we’d been seated for 50 minutes on a Tuesday evening with about 4 empty tables in the small restaurant. I used to come here once a week, I think this will be the last time. Food - clay pot curry was out of a packet, cheap grisly duck overcooked, no brown rice - a really disappointing experience, I won’t be returning.

Delicious fresh and fragrant pho which was very reasonably priced. Great service, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Food was great value and we all left feeling very full and satisfied! Look forward to returning and trying more dishes soon.

This is genuinely the best Vietnamese in London in my opinion. The food is amazing and they have a great and extensive vegan menu. I have been back multiple times - it’s one of my staples. The staff are very accommodating and kind even when it’s very busy. I would recommend!!

Great Vietnamese restaurant in the heart of Islington. They have a great vegan/vegetarian selection. Finally a place in London where you pay for dinner and you leave full and satisfied. Portions are generous and food is really simple and fresh. It's cash only but there's an ATM at the post office right across the street. Definitely recommended.

Astoundingly good. Half the menu being vegetarian is so welcome and my god the food was incredible. The Hanoi Fish, the vegan scallops and even the simple noodles were just delicious but also looked beautiful on the plate. Don't be deceived by the "small plates"- they are massive but you'll want to eat everything and come back for more. I may have to sell my children and move to Islington just so I can eat here again.

The dining experience was beyond belief! The culinary delight of the imperial chicken and egg fried rice left my taste buds in awe—the chicken's broth boasted an abundance of Umami, making it incredibly flavorful. Meanwhile, my other half savored the clay pot pork belly in a coconut sauce, where both the broth and sauce danced harmoniously on the palate, creating a sensation of unparalleled deliciousness. Undoubtedly, it stands as the pinnacle of Vietnamese cuisine I've ever encountered, setting an exceptionally high standard for future indulgences.

A beautiful family run business with gorgeous food!

Nem nems is by far my favourite place to eat in London. It’s family owned and has a lovely atmosphere. The food is really reasonably priced and delicious. It’s small plates so you can try a few different dishes. I recommend the rolling beef, nem nem pepper duck and mango fish. The menu is split into two halves and has a vegetarian alternative to every dish - so really easily accommodates different dietary requirements. It’s cash only. As a couple we usually spend around £70 in total and we’re full when we leave. Bottles of wine also really reasonable for London ranging between £19-30. I can’t recommend it enough!

Food was lovely although small portions. Place too noisy. Service was but was spoilt after being in the restaurant for 1 hour and 15 minutes we were told we would have to vacate the table in 10 minutes as there was another booking coming in. There was no prior warning about the limited time we had the table. We were rushed out. This was disappointing and wouldn't go back there again after this kind of experience. It's also a cash paying venue and no prior warning of this either. Eating out is about the whole experience not just about eating and being rushed out!! They even put a 12.5% service charge on the bill! Don't see how they can justify that when turfing you out!!

We have been going to this restaurant for MANY Many happy years… since it opened. And even through Covid, sitting outside. With friends and family. This week we took 2 friends and were highly embarrassed as a very small starter which was £9 on the menu with a tiny illegible proviso that it was £9 pp minimum 2 people so it was £ 18 not £ 9 as it said on the menu. It ended up a disaster with us spending £36 just on very very very small starters ( 2 spring rolls and summer rolls) It was big shock and the staff were not helpful at all when we queried it. Also one of our meals arrived way after the others. We were appalled.

Me and my husband shared a platter as a starter (decent portion, even when shared) than I tried marble beef with egg rice (it was basically like having proper steak for less than £9) and my husband had lemongrass chicken. I’m coming back for mango fish next week! So happy to discover this place in Angel and I’m all for supporting family business done well ☺️☺️☺️ Agnes and Gary

Just had an amazing dining experience at NEM NEM restaurant Vietnamese in Islington! The menu is 50% plant-based and super inclusive, making it the perfect spot for vegans and non-vegans alike. My friend and I were blown away by the variety of small plates and delicious flavours. The owners were incredibly friendly and helped guide us through the menu, which was much appreciated. I especially loved the grilled king mushroom scallops with peanut, seaweed and chili sauce, and the mango vegan fish with rice and broccoli tasted so much like the real thing! Service was poor. We were for an early lunch. 1/We wanted to sit away from the door (cold weather) and were told that the other tables were reserved for the dinner service. Other people got to sit there 10 minutes later... 2/ The vegetarian spring rolls two small previously frozen chinese rolls(not the crispy usual rolls that come with lettuce and greens to wrap and dip.) When we asked the waitress why they weren't the usual vietnamese rolls, she basically dismissed us and said that was what we had ordered. She was barely polite. Not an experience to be repeated.
