Called in for lunch on the day of the Liquorice Festival. Staff were very helpful and attentive. The Sunday roast was good value for money and the Liquorice cheese cake was beautiful(a new favourite dessert). Everyone was very friendly and made us feel welcome. Looking forward to returning at the next opportunity.

Great pub, good beer, dog friendly. Right in the town centre and a great place to go even ok a busy night if you fancy a relaxed chat with some mates. They now serve food which makes this by far my favourite in Pontefract

Good atmosphere, good pint of Guinness, but the regulars like it their way. We pay what they pay, so why do they think that they are in charge.

Very nice sat outside watching the world go by. With a nice kept pint ad well.

We like this pub, it would be lovely if the music wasn't so loud then we could have a conversation.

Fabulous new owners, clean n fun place to go and have a lovely time.

Beautiful old town pub. Spotlessly clean but OMG the beer is simply awful. Warm & flat Coors lager again & the Guinness was shocking. Third time in following new owners & keep hoping for the beer to improve but this currently is not the case. Needs serious attention to the cellar.

Travelled to the area from Preston, stopped off for some food. All staff really welcoming and the food was great! No complaints, if I visit again we will definitely go back for food 👍

Guinness was lovely, staff friendly, was very busy

Terrible. Used to be a good place for lunch but now very disappointing. Had all day breakfast. £6.50 Cheap sausage, no butter for toast and all looked a bit unappetising. No more visits from us.

Great pub, the clientel can be a little vocal but this was outside. I would visit again.

Good outdoor seating in the pedestrianised area of the town centre. Pleasant place to stop for a beer.

Spotlessly clean, following all social distance guidelines. NHS track and trace in operation, sanitisation stations, and polite, cheerful, and obligingly staff.

The food at the Liquorish Bush, Pontefract, is basic,but you do have a fair choice of excellently cooked foods that are delicious. Excellent choice of wine spirit's and other branded drinks. The bar staff are very professional and always very polite. The Land Lady,Lord, are also very friendly. Wifi is available.

I have visited the Liquorice Bush, Pontefract, on a number of occasions. The Land Lady & Landlord are extremely friendly and the bar staff are always very polite and professional.. the food is also very good. Excellent range of drinks and the atmosphere is outstanding and I've always felt comfortable Wifi is available.

Sam always makes you feel welcome and a relaxing atmosphere. We are looking forward to December when they open again.keep up the great work Sam your one in a Million .

We went in Saturday looking for a relaxing drink. Unfortunately, left very unimpressed with the ^safety measures' they have in place to kurb the spread of Covid. So, you are not allowed up to the bar and the staff will bring your drinks etc. The table service would have been a good idea if the 2 staff on were wearing face masks. They weren't and going table to table. How did they know if someone asymptomatic was in. They then went to all other tables stood less than 6 metres away. We didn't know about it until we ordered a drink. Were told to sit at a table and not go to the bar. When we decided to leave after the one drink we had to wait about 10 minutes to pay. Will not be going back as the spread of any virus will be in there.

The refurbishment of the bar has made a dramatic improvement to the atmosphere. The bar staff are very polite and courteous and gives a good welcome to all visitors. I went for a sunday lunch and it was delicious and home made, and an affordable price.

Visited today for the first time. The food n drink are v reasonably priced. The food was hot, presented well n very tasty. The staff were polite n v helpful. I would recommend eating here. Looking forward to our next visit.
