The Lion Brasserie in Babergh

We met with friends for lunch today. East bergholt is a superb location , lion brasserie is a great place to spend time meeting friends. The service was brilliant, no rush at all. I had a steak that was cooked to perfection. The rest of the party enjoyed their food as well. We had a lovely time and will be back soon.

Booked last minute, and arrived on time, to be pleasantly greeted by a competent member of staff. Busy but appeared well organised and didn’t notice any issues, nice outside garden. We both had steak which was excellent, spotlessly clean , and overall very good service, we will be going again soon, well worth trying.

We really enjoyed our meal at the Lion. Great service and wonderful food. Steaks cooked to perfection. We arrived without a reservation but we were looked after quickly and efficiently. The staff were great and had a good knowledge of the menu.

Great food, as always. Only 3 stars due to substandard - waited for table water, then drinks and menus. Got bored waiting to order cheese and biscuits but luckily could purchase from the co-op next door. Bitterly disappointed that the service was not what we often enjoy on monthly basis.

This was our first visit but based on our experience today it won’t be our last. Superb food and service in a delightful setting. The sunny garden was just delightful. Lots of choice for everyone and some good offers too. Oh and excellent top notch toilets. Seems weird to mention but this is an aspect that lets many places down.

What joy to find a lovely country restaurant in the heart of the English countryside, known lovingly as Constable country! We had our meal in a beautiful private English garden adjoining the restaurant. Good choice on the menu with and food was well presented. The staff were attentive and friendly, without being pushy. (I can be a bit fussy about my wine!) Might be tempted to come back and stay overnight in their exquisite ensuite rooms which we visited.😊

We have visited twice now, both times were great. We were with another couple that also has a child under 2, and the garden is massive and a great place for them to play. The roast was delicious! Staff were very friendly :)

Amazing place, amazing staff and just beautiful, fresh food. The gardens are stunning - a perfect place to enjoy lunch with family. We will definitely be back very soon.

Went for Sunday Lunch for a family birthday. Was not offered a wine list so requested a bottle of the house white. When paying the bill was charged £40 for the wine. There is also a service charge of 15% which is a total liberty for a pub lunch. The pub should be paying the wages too staff out of profits and not burden the customer with this cost. I won’t be going there again which is a shame as it’s in a lovely location.
