Warm welcome, short menu but we made great choices - the slow-cooked beef and the pork belly both delicious and great flexibility in amending the accompanying veg to suit. Would have loved a dessert but way too full for that! Service was perfect, very relaxed but also efficient and friendly. Highly recommended!

My wife and I had a lovely 5th wedding anniversary meal in The Lantern, the staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was outstanding we'll 100% be back and would recommend it for the quality of food and service.

We've just been to the Lantern in Belfast with colleagues. Had a delicious seafood chowder followed by duck, as the main course-> very tasty! My colleagues went for the salt&chilli chicken, then the beef shoulder which looked equally mouthwatering😋 We've splashed this with 4 sweet shots for a dessert:) Very nice place and they also play good music👌pleasant service as well

It was absolutely amazing 👏 the food was fantastic the staff were brilliant. It was my first time there and for sure we'll be back. The rip eye just melted in my mouth.

We booked here for our Mum's birthday, the owner was so lovely and attentive, and even remembered to wish Mum a happy birthday off the back of my reservation email form days before. The food was great and because it is a small family restaurant you could tell everything was cooked with care and delivered with a smile. A definite must for a revisit.

Visited The Lantern this evening and had a really lovely meal. When we walked in from a cold street, it was lovely and warm, as was the greeting!! LMy wife and son had beef, and I had a turkey and ham Christmas Dinner, it was all just perfect. The staff were amazing, and the atmosphere in the place was buzzing. A genuinely lovely experience and a credit to the owner and staff. See you all soon.

Lovely restaurant in the city centre. Small restaurant but not to compact to other tables and a nice environment. Excellent service and very pleasant, knowledgeable staff. Meals served in a timely manner and to a great standard. All meals were delicious and the steaks in particular were cooked to perfection. Would return again in the future.

Love the duck and the seafood chowder and the pork belly. Even tap water tastes great here.

Was visiting Belfast and came here with my family. Was very cosy and a lovey atmosphere. The food was excellent. I would definitely recommend the pork belly. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed.

Crazy this place has 4.7 rating. It's a mid to upper 3 at best. Steak was cooked well but cut was sub par, chips were fried in petrol or equivilant oil. Wine was kept at luke warm temperature 🤢. No clue how they are holding a 4.7 other than seeding. I was duped by Google rating for sure.

Understated, but really excellent foody restaurant! Two plates of beautifully cooked and flavoured duck and tasty fresh fish with divine sweet potato. Don’t forget to try the dessert..

Excellent Food. The salt & chilli chicken starter and the goats cheese spring rolls were different and very good. A generous portion of sea bass compared to what is often served. Good range of home made desserts. Very good food for a fair price by city centre standards these days & thoroughly deserves its lofty TA position.

Great food, great service, good value. My father and I had a 3 course meal with drinks at The Lantern, £109 which is great value. Really recommend the slow cooked beef and the pork belly. All the food tasted home made. If you are in Belfast City and fancy some hearty food I would really recommend.

We had an excellent dinner at The Lantern on our Ireland trip in September. The restaurant is warm and inviting. Service and food were outstanding, especially the duck. The manager came over and chatted with us for a few minutes and really made us feel welcomed. Prices were reasonable for the quality of the food and service. You won't go wrong dining here.

1st time having dinner at The Lantern and we will certainly return, food was beautifull ,service was excellent and overall a great experience.

This place was charming, delicious, and the waitstaff were so great! I had the pork belly and it was impeccable. When I ordered I asked if it could be done with limited raisins and they were able to accommodate that. At the end of our meal, our waiter spent a great deal giving us recommendations about bars and pubs in the area. Highly recommend!

Delicious food, fast service, beautiful atmosphere.

Worst food on our entire trip through the UK so not sure why people think it's good. Seabass was too salty, Caesar salad had too much dressing and was disgusting, potato leek soup tasted like it came out of a can and the risotto tasted like it came out of a packet with frozen shrimp from Asia added. Shameful and very overpriced. This place should not be operating!

What a find! We arrived in Belfast and found this little gem and we were not disappointed! I had the cod special and it was cooked to perfection. My husband had the duck - also excellent. Vegetables were organic and well prepared. Would highly recommend! Only issue we found was that the background music was on the loud side so had a bit of a time trying to have a conversation.

Nice enough place, excellent service, food was a little on the bland side, and more a Set Menu/Pre-Theatre type of place than to sit down for a proper night out meal.

Went for a friend's birthday. Very extensive menu and service was fine. What let it down was the food. Had Goats Cheese Spring Rolls to start. Only being given two spring rolls and they were smothered in sweet chilli sauce which overpowered the taste. Then had beef for main. Despite a large portion, this was bland and underseasoned, clearly needing salt and butter to enhance the flavours. Finished with a Sticky Toffee Pudding which was just ok. The Shiraz we ordered wasn't great either. The place is obviously popular but the food was distinctly underwhelming which is the most important thing.

Myself, partner and 11 year old popped in about 7.30pm on a Saturday evening after doing a tour of titanic. Although they have a booking system online, there was no availability until 8.30, so I rang ahead and they had a table available. I'm glad we did. Service very friendly and attentive. Food was delicious with a nice relaxed atmosphere and cosy vibe. I had fish and they both had steaks cooked to perfection. We didn't get desserts although they looked very good. Sems to be a popular spot among locals and tourists alike. Would recommend if your in the area.

A lovely little restaurant in Belfast. We pre-booked and glad we did because it soon filled up, even for a Sunday. The food was excellent. The shoulder of beef just melted away, and the vegetables were fantastic. The pasta was creamy with a hint of spice to it. And the apple crumble was delicious. Service was fantastic too. I would recommend The Lantern to anyone looking for a local restaurant

This was our first visit to the Lantern and was based on the amazing reviews and photographs of the food that was online. The wine was beautiful but the food was only average. Disappointed about this and won’t be back! We did give the review about the food to the manager and he said he would say to the chef.

After reading previous reviews we decided to give it it a go, as expected it was busy on friday night but the service was still great, the manager VJ is great craic. there was 4 off us and we had the pork, the sea bass, the risotto and the cod all great.

The staff and atmosphere of The Lantern is superb! On a cold and rainy evening after a long day exploring, it was so warm and inviting to come in and dine here. The food warmed the soul and would recommend any and everyone to dine here. The beef shoulder, duck, chicken, and cod were all great. The potato and leek soup was divine and the sticky toffee is to die for. The team is very prompt and attentive and everyone can come hungry and leave satisfied and happy!

Great food and excellent service. Cod dish was one of the best I have tried in whole Ireland during my stay. Apple crumble and brownie were also really great.

Visited this Bistro on Thursday night and was Immediately made to feel very welcomed. Good varied choice on menu , food very nicely presented and excellent quality products. We had two main courses, Sea Bass fillets and Duck breast. Both were cooked to perfection and were accompanied with fresh vegetables and potatoes. Additional sides available if required. Portion sizes were generous and priced very reasonably.... Excellent meal. Wine very reasonable price for a large glass. Staff accommodating and friendly without being intrusive. Restaurant small with a lovely atmosphere. I would definitely make a reservation as it was full throughout our visit. Highly recommended.

Food was fantastic, I was able to get a table easily , I was in Belfast to visit a sick relative, seafood chowder was excellent and the steak cooked to perfection and this was a perfect end to a stressful day

A great find on our mini break in Belfast. We ordered the sea bass,and the beef shoulder. Both were really tasty and recommended.

Very disappointed! Spring rolls were frozen inside, squid just awful, cheap supermarket quality and tasted like was brought from one not made in this restaurant! Fish and chips were disgusting! Soggy outside and barely cooked inside. Nightmare! I think about this food and want to gag! I can't believe we have paid for it. It has spoiled our night out! There is plenty other nice places in Belfast and most times the experience is beautiful or just ok, not in Lantern! My experience was awful and makes me feel sorry to myself I have eaten there! Never again bleugh

Staying in city center, we were looking for a good meal from a spot open on Tuesday and we were faced with limited options. We walked 2 blocks to the lantern and had one of the best meals of our 12 day holiday. If we ever come back to Belfast, we are coming here again.

Great food at a reasonable price. My husband took me here for my 40th birthday and their birthday song was really funny and cute.
