Consistently excellent standards of service. The staff seem to WANT to be there and engage with the patrons. It's a relief to know ones parents are in good hands. The reasonable prices are a significant factor also. Please do not change. Thank you.

While in Ely for a few days we called in here for lunch. Extensive menu, lovely staff and nice surroundings made for a pleasant lunch experience for all. Drinks and food received within 10 minutes of ordering and all very tasty. Great little place to eat in the centre of Ely.

Lovely old hotel to stay in packed with character situated centrally within sight of the cathedral and other historic buildings, and a range of shops and restaurants, with helpful, friendly staff, all at a reasonable price. Great vegan breakfasts and reasonably priced evening meals too.

Nice airy Greene King pub overlooking quiet high street near cathedral. £20.40 for pint, lasagne, lime cordial with tap water at lunchtime a bit pricey Food arrived quickly but the portion was smallish and the bowel was scalding hot.

Lovely room, large and clean, fairly quiet. However, there was a door somewhere in the building that slammed every so often that caused the room to shake which woke us up a few times. There was also some building work going on outside our window so the view was awful and at 8am builders arrived playing loud music. In the summer the room could definitely do with black out curtains. The most disappointing part was the breakfast. There weren't enough staff so we didn't get tea cups for a long time after our tea arrived. The portions were small, ordered salmon and scrambled egg and got one spoon of egg on top of a bit of salmon. Should have had breakfast somewhere else.

Comfortable and clean. Coffee pot (instant coffee) and modern TV in the room. Private bathroom, hot water and clean towels. Restaurant and pub on the ground floor, nice atmosphere and good food. No A/C, for those who might expect that. Also no microwave or refrigerator in the room (this is "Medieval England," after all, so... Temper expectations). Also no elevator, or "lift," so be prepared to carry luggage.

I stumbled into this restaurant by chance. The ambience is fantastic. There were numerous patrons of all ages indicating that this is a popular place for all. I was warmly welcomed. I ordered the lamb shank. It came with gravy, vegetables and chips. The vegetables were properly done. The chips were soft on the inside and crisp on the outside. The lamb meat was slowly cooked, soft and easily separated from the bone. Lovely texture with being just done right. I enjoyed my meal. I have no hesitation in recommending this place if one is in Ely.

Evening meal before Elvis at the cathedral service was first class food was fantastic would definitely recommend

The lamb shank was amazing. My husband was disappointed with his meal as the burger came out like a child's portion.

Always a friendly welcome and relaxing atmosphere. Good choice of beers and other drinks. Unfortunately, on the day of our visit, the kitchen was closed due to a burst pipe, but we weren't in for food.

Iv been coming here for years But tonight was not a good experience. We walked in asked if we could get a table for 2. The woman who served us was so RUDE as if it was hassle talking to us .took us to are table didn't say a word. Just handed us menus. My chair was falling apart so i poility asked a member of staff if she could get another chair. We looked so annoyed that she couldn't carry on chatting and laughing. She stomped over and swapped chairs with rude attitude. We sat down and waited and waited for no staff . We lift

Good food service and location, and pleasant atmosphere

I go here for lunch quite often, and always find the staff friendly and helpful, and the food is typical Greene King fayre, which suits me fine! But I went for Christmas Eve turkey, trimmings and Christmas pudding, and it wildly exceeded my expectations! Piping hot, turkey fell to pieces, absolutely lovely! I couldn't quite manage it all, as I had to leave a bit of room for the Christmas pudding, but I did my best! I felt I had to leave this review as I was so impressed. The staff also looked after me like I was family! So thanks a lot, and I'll be back very soon!

We enjoyed our visit to the Lamb hotel. I really needed a ground floor room because of my mobility and the lady at reception kindly changed the room and got us a ground floor room. It was really comfortable with a lovely walk in shower. The hotel is very central to Ely eh ch is convenient. We are in the hotel the second night of our visit which was very nice. We would like to come back in the spring or summer.

The room was great. Endless hot water. Bar was busy, but the food was lovely.

Four of us attended, had a lovely meal and drinks and attended by lovely happy pleasant staff. Definitely one to recommend and will be back

We went to celebrate my Mums 75th birthday, we were so impressed with all the staff especially Sandra she's was so attentive, nothing was too much trouble, she made my Mum's day we were so lucky to have her waiting on our table, we could see she really enjoys her job and wanted us to have the very best experience which we certainly did! 😍. Sam was also very helpful and sorted out our table and booking arrangements, I really appreciated her calls and help. This all made for a fabulous time. The afternoon tea was absolutely amazing. We have had quite a few over the year but this one was fabulous our thanks to all who were involved in the making and presentation 😀. All we can say is a massive thank you. I'm coming back with my friends in the new year for our annual get-together. 🥂

Excellent Sunday roast, and they were happy to supply extra gravy! Good atmosphere. Only drawback was that we were in a smaller part of the restaurant and it was difficult to catch the attention of a waitress. However, I love this place and will return soon.

Went for lunch, good menu, nicely cooked and presented. We had a dog with us, very welcome, and he even got some treats! Very pleasant personnel. Would recommend.

A pub and inn, owned by Greene King. We came for Sunday lunch and all but one table was booked (so we took the last table). Food was nice, as were drinks. Pub is dog friendly.

Great location, as in right on top of the Cathedral. Great selection of drinks and a varied menu. Food was really good. Room was better than we expected.

Popped in without booking for some sunday lunch. First time here and cannot recommend highly enough, the service was prompt, friendly and efficient and the food was delicious. I had salmon and the husband had scampi and everything was cooked fresh and tasted lovely and presented beautifully. Definitely going back, the brownie sundae was scrumptious!

Fantastic food, excellent accommodation and the staff always seem to go the extra mile. Have stayed here a lot in the last 3 years though work and hope to get back to visit again sometime. Stayed in room 11 for the first time and wow, definitely the best! Also had Lamb shank which was superb. Can’t forget the Moretti which tasted absolutely lovely. Highly recommend.

We are regular at the Lamb for food and drinks, food and bar staff always very good waiting staff very hit and miss but we like to support local busninesses so go there at least once or twice a week. Went in to book for 10 next Sat for lunch and were told we only take bookings up to 8 before 4pm, no converation no I'll check if theres anything we could do no calling management just a straught no! In this economic climate and being regulars whom were recogised I cannot believe a table of 10 worth between £200 and £300 were turned away like that, we try and support local businesses as we live in Ely but this makes it hard to even want to go back anymore and we have had to book elsewhere.

Had an excellent reasonably priced meal. Friendly helpful staff. Level access and clean toilets. Shame I live 200 miles away, would love to go back.

Resturants review: Highly attentive staff. Food was served quickly. Good prices. We had a cammebert sharer platter, salt and pepper squid and haloumi fries for starters. Mains: chicken basket, prawn linguine and risotto. Risotto and chicken basket were especially good. Eton mess was good. Lovely staff will visit again.

Thanks to all the staff for a great weekend.The hotel has limited car park spaces but car park places are dotted around the hotel area.The bedroom was clean and the bed comfortable, the bathroom needs modernizing but that was no problem for us.The breakfast was great and the staff are fantastic.The location right next to the Cathedral was brilliant, Thanks

We were staying at the hotel to visit family in Cambridge. We all ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent, service impeccable and atmosphere perfect. Made even better with the bill as it was less than I thought. Will be returning here definitely.

Not many vegetables with the roast, beef looked better than the lamb.

Excellent food. Burgers seems to be a simple food, but they were so tasty in every bite, fries, onion rings, fish and chips the same good. Just great. Also very nice and helpfull service. 5 stars. Well done. Thank you!

Good all round. Breakfast was exceptional e.g can't fault the full English and breakfast staff had it just right with the service.

Nice hotel, great location for everything, close to cathedral, dog friendly with walks nearby. Rooms a little dated. Sunday lunch not good wouldn't eat that again. Staff friendly and polite. Will be back.

Reluctantly booked Sunday lunch as had such a bad experience the last few times 18/months 2 years ago but wanted to give the lamb the benefit of the doubt. Couldn’t have been more pleased. Myself & my friends had such a lovely lunch & was so different to our last experience. The staff were lovely & smiled ! Again so different to last time. We thanked the manager who said there was new kitchen & front of house staff. We said what a difference this had made. Well done The lamb for todays experience you did us proud 👍

Had a very nice, reasonably priced meal.

Always a good place for a light lunch, very relaxing, good covid care. Good pots of tea and coffee and cake. Not too busy during the week except Thursday and Saturday market days.

The room was ok, don't bank on getting a parking spot though, there's room for 10 cars and it was full all day during my stay. The roads outside are safe enough outside to leave a car overnight, and its mostly free. Didn't eat in the restaurant, theres lots of nice ones nearby. My only criticism is the state of the bathroom, which is disgusting and has not been cleaned properly for a very very long time. I'd probably say years. Very close to ely cathedral which is absolutely beautiful. Would definitely come back to Ely with my wife for a day or 2, but wouldn't stay here again. The limescale and scum on the shower head and taps made me feel physically sick. Small details make big differences. If it wasn't for the vile filth in the bathroom, I'd stay here every time I'm in the area.

Visited the Lamb Hotel today.A party of 6, excellent food and service. Sat at table 12 at 1pm, the young man who served us was especially good, nothing was too much trouble for him. Food was excellent and very hot.We are already planning another visit so we can stay at the lamb!Well done to everyone.

Yesterday had a delicious lunch here. It always is good value but was even more so with the current government help.The staff were charming and very heloful. We were advised about the safety measures currently in place and it felt quite safe throughout our visit.

We took advantage of the ‘eat out to help out’ scheme. Staff were very attentive, helpful and friendly. Good choice of vegan options. Food was delicious. Would recommend.

Me and mum came away for a few days and wanted to go for lunch and we went into the restaurant and was greeted my very lovely staff who told us about everything that we needed to do and we also mentioned it was my birthday and most of the staff wished me a happy birthday. The tables were being cleaned all the time people were leaving, the staff were so friendly. The food was absolutely delicious and would highly recommend it.

Dont often get to see my son but on this occasion i thought i would take him for lunch, got there and sat down straight away, went to order and the server was really helpful, sat and waited for our food but when it came my sons meal was measly, 1 sausage when it clearly states on the menu it is 2 (probably got stock issues), a few carrots but a decent enough portion of chips. I spoke to the who wasnt sure himself if it came with 2 so he went and spoke to whoever was in the kitchen and within 2 minutes later he reappeared with what appeared to be a sausage which had been cooked one side on the grill then sent out, upon cutting it open it was barely warm. I again spoke to the waiter who seemed annoyed with the kitchen staff as well went back in and i can only assume they bunged it in the microwave as it only came out a minute later warmer but not hot. When it came to our table being cleared the waiter told the kitchen we were ready for our 2 scoops of ice cream 20 minutes later he had to go in and do it himself even though the "chef" could have instead of making himself a coffee. Not a pleasant visit compared to previous visits!!

Nice comfortable hotel. Rooms have been well used but were clean and the bed was comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good choice for breakfasts. Would stay there again.

So I have staying in Ely for 4 nights and have enjoyed 2 meals at The Lamb. Part of a chain, it offers a pretty comprehensive menu plenty to choose from including dishes for vegetarians, vegan and fish loving diners. I would say that the limited choice from the grill on both nights was a little disappointing as they offered 3 steak options but on both night only had 1 available. Would visit again.

At the totally empty bar, with food menu in hand:Me, bright, breezy, friendly and in a good mood: "Could I have a pint of Amstel and the sirloin steak please?"Barman, without a smile: "Which table?"Me, still very friendly: "Erm, not sure", pointing to an empty table, "maybe that one over there...?"Barman, still no smile in sight: "I can't place your order without an order number"Me, by now very unimpressed at basic customer service and warmth (not to mention that it jars massively with my own friendly manner): "That's very officious of you. I'll leave it thanks."I wouldn't bother going back there again. Plenty of nicer, more friendly places in Ely.

This is obviously a popular place for Sunday lunch, as all the tables in the restaurant were reserved and there were only two small tables available in the bar when we arrived at about midday.We chose the table furthest from the door and ordered quickly due to the large number of people expected.Our meals came quickly: we both had the roast turkey.The portion size was enormous and I remarked that here was another restaurant that sadly does not offer a smaller appetite version.The turkey was OK and the vegetables excellent: roast and mashed potatoes, carrots, broccoli and cabbage.The two young people serving were polite and smiling.Despite the bitterly cold day, the radiator by our table was not on; luckily we were well away from the door and the room was not cold.A pleasant experience.

Seated straight away, friendly waitress service, fast service from drinks to food. We had 3 courses and they were all tasty and good portion sizes. Enjoyable evening.

Arrived at the lamb for an overnight stay. Arrived after 200 mile journey, pretty tired and looking forward to some food. Told restaurant full, but lovely young girl saw my disappointment and said come back in half an hour and she’d get us a table, which she did. Food standard pub food, nothing special, wine ok for the price. Three of us cost c£65 so reasonable value. Wouldn’t like to thinkI was eating there on a regular basis but a one off it wasn’t bad and we only had to go upstairs to our room. Now that was a whole different dirty dusty experience so hopefully have different housekeeping in the restaurant to the rooms.Photos show dust clinging to door and door frame in our room.

My wife and I only called to the pub restaurant for a quick lunch. The tomato soup was delicious, in fact we thought it was one of the best soup and bread lunches we had consumed. The meals had by other customers looked testy. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their lunches.

We had a lovely lunchtime meal here with two young children. Food was fresh and hot and the actual pub eating area is really peaceful and welcoming. Very broad range of food available. Staff were incredibly helpful and sorted out a minor problem extremely professionally. Recommended for a family lunch with young children and teens.

We were on a night out for a friends birthday playing pub golf, we ordered our drinks which costed £40-£50 on our first round of drinks, we then went outside because we were a bit hot and were chatting together with a normal chatting voice when someone approached us and said that room 16 had made a noise complaint the night before, we had been outside for 5 minutes if that and as mentioned was talking no louder than normal when other people are around having a conversation. We felt discriminated against as we were in fancy dress and that they targeted us. When one of our party complained the assistant manager they said that they had a complaint the night before and when it came down to it they would rather not refund a £300 room which made us all feel very unwelcome, we live locally and came last year and experienced no issues. I feel they should treat everyone fairly and not discriminate.

We stayed just one night, and wanted to explore the town and visit the cathedral. The hotel is in a perfect position for this; very centrally located. We were given a very warm welcome when we checked in, by a very friendly and helpful lady. The bar staff and waitresses were also very friendly. At breakfast, we were amazed by the choice and quality, considering the price. Really great value for money. I had fruit and yogurt then eggs benedict which was delicious. The only reason I don’t give 5 stars is that the bathroom in our was room was a really tight squeeze and in need of a revamp. The room was quite basic but the price of the hotel reflects this. It was very clean and the bed was really comfy, nice crisp clean sheets etc. I would definitely go back to The Lamb Inn if we return to Ely.

We decided to drop in for drinks only and enjoyed our visit. Friendly staff, clean tables and bright interior. We did not eat here as we were with a group of friends who wanted a drink only. For sure we will visit this inn/hotel again.

We arrived about 10.30am and were advised there would be a 15-20 minute wait. The staff were attentive and genuinely pleasant considering their age, not meaning to sound patronising there, but they were professional to a standard beyond there years.

Had the gammon with the homemade scotch egg which is delicious and no ordinary one. have had the small plate meals as well which are also good.

We arrived on spec on Tuesday afternoon to ask about room availability and were greeted with a warm & friendly welcome. We were showed the available rooms and we took one with amazing views of the cathedral. The breakfast was very good indeed. Came here for lunch. When I went up to order drinks there was a barman and girl serving. She took some drinks off to a table but on return, even though there were people waiting, she busied herself shuffling menus on empty tables rather than help behind the bar. Took a long time to get served and a long wait for the food too. We had a sharing platter which was fine but the slow service would put us off returning.

We recently visited this restaurant during our recent visit to Ely. We managed to order the drinks without any issue, as you would expect in a pub. However the food side of things was completely different, I went to the bar and ordered our two meals, only to be told they had ran out of both!!. After going through the menu again we chose something else, to be honest I wished I’d never bothered, I ordered a steak pie and chips and my wife ordered a fish less fish and chips from their Vegan menu. The meals arrived, to look at, neither of them were great, and presentation clearly wasn’t the chefs strong point. The fish less fish and chips however was another level. When my wife tried to eat it she found the meal was still frozen in the middle and so sent it back. When the meal came back for a second time, I was in two minds weather my wife should eat it or say a few words on its behalf, it was so cremated, we could have probably strewn it’s ashes. Needless to say the majority of that meal was left and we just went somewhere else. Don’t waste your money here, there are plenty of other nice places to eat in Ely, I only wish I knew this before we went in.

I arrived after a long bike ride. Staff were welcoming and arranged to store my bike securely. The bed and the room in general was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was fine, as was the meal on the evening of my arrival. The hotel is very close to the cathedral. It's a pity they don't silence the bells at night, but that was fixed by closing the window!! Decent stay with no complaints.

We arrived just before 7 but were not allowed to sit in the restaurant area and were directed to a table in the bar (even though another family was ordering in the restaurant area). We were told that someone would be along to take our orders - but after 20 minutes were told we should have ordered at the bar on arrival. With hindsight we should have left at this point. We asked for water- it never came. We asked for ketchup- it never came.

OK so we hadn't booked, being in area for weekend we wasn't sure what or where we be. However staff very good in sorting a table when it was busy. Friendly staff. Sadly beef very tough and food luke warm. Saw another couple complain. Yorkshire pud was stone cold inside. Disappointed. Redeemed just by dessert.

Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Service efficient and friendly. Priced reasonably for the quality and quantity of meals. Will visit again soon.

Good food rooms very poor service outside of restaurant lacking to the point of abysmal £40taken on card at time of entry did not spend no refund given never again

We had about 16 people in our group and we had a great time at the Lamb Inn. we had pre-ordered our food and everything went well.

Staff is very polite and friendly. Drinks were great, however I cant say the same about the food. It was not impressive, and lacked flavor. I have to say it was a little disappointing.

Arrived for a family reunion and right from the start you could tell that the staff were friendly, helpful and extremely efficient. We had our Saturday night meal in a room away from the hustle and bustle of the hotel bars, it was decorated well and we were in the very capable hands of a young lady called Megan who single handedly dealt with our large party of relatives, nothing was too much trouble for her and she dealt with us in a friendly and professional way, just brilliant, thank you Megan. In all the excitement I have left for home together with my room key (room 6) it will be posted back first thing tomorrow and I apologise for my forgetfulness.

We booked in to stay one night (Friday) and were not aware of the micro sized car park until we arrived but we were lucky someone escaped just after we got there so managed to get a space.

Went here for a family meal. No car park so disabled people had long walks.service left a lot to be desired as they seemed to forget things. It was not a good choice of food as instead of a menu they should have said what was left. Hate to think if it had been a Friday or Saturday night what people would have been given. When we did get food it was not great under or over cooked the lasagne had a funny taste and not sure if it was pasta or mashed potatoes. Would not go back again

The Lamb is situated perfectly for shoppers and people who just want a good meal and drink with a good standard/appointed/comfortable interior. Great Sunday dinners too and the are open all day which suites us better than the usual 12 till 2pm' ers.

We were meeting up the night before a family event and friends and family had travelled from all over the UK, some staying at the Lamb. We had pre-ordered for over 20 people and another couple unexpectedly turned up. The waitress and management fitted us all in wonderfully. No fuss! The welcome was warm, organisation was good, waitresses were very helpful and the food was delicious. Thanks to all at the Lamb for your help and for making a family occasion very much appreciated by us all.
