The Lakeside Brasserie in Cotswold

Really wanted to like this place and found a nice sunny spot out on the deck but the staff really didn’t seem to be interested in serving us. It wasn’t that busy but service was so slow. In the end we gave up and went down the road to the cycle cafe.

Stopped off after a walk through the Cotswolds. Absolutely beautiful views at the window table. The food was amazing! burger and fish finger sandwich was perfect. Service was brilliant, very fast, very friendly and professional too. Would definitely come back

A cracking Sunday (Mothers day ) lunch with family. I went for the roast beef and I wasn't disappointed, really good quality meat and fabulous yorkshires and veg. I was too full for a pudding unfortunately! Looking forward to returning for breakfast once the weather improves! Only downside was it was very noisy in the so difficult to have a conversation over the table. Not sure whether that was the acoustics, the number of people in there (it was busy) or a bit of both.

We all had variation of the sunday roast menu and dessert. Everything was lovely, sticky toffee pudding was delicious. Good size portions

I really wanted to like this place. The staff are very good and try their hardest to make you feel welcome but you do feel like they could do with 2-3 extra people. The menu is fairly basic and the chef talented but we were all slightly disappointed by the food. The venue is very open-plan and was very noisy. There was live music on - the band were good but just a bit too loud for the venue as conversation, even in the annex, was difficult so we didn’t even have dessert. The key test for any restaurant is “would you go back”. Sadly, the answer is no as everything (except the staff) was just a bit less than you wanted.

Love this place! Food was great! Staff very friendly. Nice atmosphere and lovely view. Able to eat inside and out. An added bonus is that you can take dogs!

Good spot for a coffee, it was very quiet but they made a great hot chocolate. Nice view of the sports lake.

We booked a table for 9 on 23rd December while staying in a lodge on Summer Lake. The atmosphere was vibrant and quite noisy , the service was very good and the food was also good , however the choice of drinks was very poor as they were out of many beers and lagers .The reason given that they were closing early January , better planning for the future maybe !!!!

The food was average, chicken burger was dry and children’s burger had cheese(additional £1) which luckily was a small pea size amount as it was extra mature which most children would find strong, burger was not edible. This aside, the reason for the review was the service. I had to make 3 requests and that would seem like I was being fussy, the staff certainly treated me that way, but it was to ask for cutlery, napkins and the beans that went with the children’s meals. I had to ask twice for this as the first request was ignored. Next, the brioche bun for the adults burger came out as a seeded burger bun, not what was on the menu or what other customers had for their burgers, I was ok with this but as my husband has an intolerance we had to ask for a replacement, at this point the waitress, Jenna, stated it was our fault for not telling her. This is correct but she never asked and in our defence, the menu stated a brioche bun so we were not to know the corners were being cut and different buns used. They did replace the burger top with a brioche bun when asked. Finally, the bill arrives and we were charged extra for a children’s meal, I would normally ignore as not worth the hassle but we had such an awful time I asked and they didn’t know why so removed the charge, later saying the menu was incorrect that’s why. People have bad days but none of our requests were unreasonable and I feel the food and service was poor and does not reflect other reviews. We tried to eat local and not a chain or the popular eatery in the area but I feel I made a poor decision with the lakeside. If you visit, check your bill, do not assume the menu is correct and expect corners cut.

Great food, nice surroundings and great service. Will definitely return with different friends and pass on at work as well.

I’ve visited Lakeside multiple times now and it never fails to disappoint. It’s a great place for a coffee and a catch up, weekend brunch or evening dinner. Watching the water sports or the live music adds a great little extra to this unique venue. I’d recommend booking a table as it gets busy! The service is friendly and efficient, and the food has greatly improved in recent years. Couldn’t recommend more.

I booked a table for Saturday brunch during our weekend away. We arrived to a friendly welcome and were seated quickly, when we ordered we got offered a table by the window that had just vacated; We gladly moved to allow us to sit and enjoy the beautiful lake views in the sunshine - thank you! I ordered the GF pancakes and my partner ‘The Lakeside’ breakfast and they were able to make this DF and had oat milk for him to enjoy a coffee. Our meals took a little while to arrive, but they were very busy, we had asked for dietary amendments and we didn’t mine sitting and enjoying the views :) Our meals were enjoyed and we thought the bill was very good for our brunch. Meat a bit chewy and underdone but very good service

Really liked the place. Ate there with a friend today at lunch. Although it s raining today, the view on the lake is really nice, the place is simple, modern, nice in my opinion, clean. We got both Caesar chicken salad and they were really big, with really much chicken, no scam here with small portions. We also add squids to share and it was also a large portion. It was good, and really filling, for a very reasonable price (14.5 for the big salad bowl). Service was quick but we were the only customers with a lady, so might be different when crowded!

Can’t fault the service but awful food. Clearly the people who rated this place 5 stars for the food don’t have great standards. I had the croquettes to start, cold in the middle, so not cooked properly….. then the chimichurri chicken which tasted like fish (?!) served over some extremely oily chips. Probably a better venue for drinks as the location is nice, just wouldn’t recommend to eat here.

Always great service, a lovely young lass served us, fantastic setting in the Autumn sunshine, sat outside watching the boat doing watersports. Very good food and drinks.

Good pleasant dog-friendly cafe on the water’s edge. We came for afternoon coffees. They were of good strength and came with a biscoff biscuit. Downsides are the toilets (cold, outdated and dirty) and quality of the staff (slow making drinks and two tables remained uncleared yet the staff weren’t busy - we were the only people in the cafe so it was strange to see tables left uncleared). I’d recommend it as a place to come, and it was great to see the water sport activities you could do from the cafe.

Food was absolutely delicious. Service was great.We have been more than happy with the ladies which served our table. We felt spoiled by the waitresses. Thank you for your fantastic service and food. Atmosphere was amazing . It's a superb location with the beautiful lake. There is only one issue with this place toilets are disgusting, dirty. Broken Toilet seat and no toilet paper in the ladies.

I think this may be one of the best breakfasts we’ve had out! Everything was cooked perfectly, and of high quality for a reasonable price! The staff were very friendly and this is a lovely spot watching the water sports! Would 100% come back if I’m the area.

Had a lovely 2 course meal here while staying in the Cotswolds. The mussels were cooked to perfection. Staff were very friendly and helpful and service quick. It has a very cosy feel to it with fairy lights and tea light candles on the tables. Chocolate brownie was also very good and they allowed me to swap the cream for ice cream. We ate in the dark so couldn't see the lake but would imagine on light summer evenings, would be a lovely view, would definitely like to visit again in the summer!

I have visited 4 times this year for breakfast and every time has been lovely. Excellent location right by the lake. Dog friendly. Lovely breakfast menu. Great service. Recommended to book. Parking on your doorstep. My daughter took part in water-skiing(pre bookable) which we could watch from the terrace. Will visit again

We've said it before ... and will say it again ... last Sunday we had THE BEST Sunday Roast at Lakeside Brasserie Restaurant!!! Nothing but praise from us for the food, helpful Staff and great location. See you again very soon :) Jan & Steve

Wow what service! We arrived here by chance on a walk and were treated so well. we weren’t the easiest customers- kids, wheelchair, gluten free, moved seats twice and honestly nothing was too much trouble. Gemma and her team were great! AND the food was gorgeous!

I ordered spicy rice(prawns,chicken,chorizos)on 22th August for dinner,this rice was not hot ,just a little warm,I asked the staff to make it hotter,it turned out it was hot on top and the bottom was still cold, obviously they they put the cooked food into microwave and charged £17,not cooked freshly!second day I had very bad diarrhoea.after I asked a lady gave me the bill which she didn’t,until long time later I asked another man .never go there again.

Chance call in for breakfast - friendly and helpful welcome - chose table inside by window with view over the water (able to watch the inflatable riders bounce by behind the speedboat) - enjoyed quality food and coffee - very fair pricing for the offering...

Can't rate this place highly enough. I googled it and just set off for 10am opening. Breakfast came quickly, staff were exceptionally helpful and always on the ball. Great breakfast on a Saturday morning. Watched the speed boats and water amusements ,which was a surprise.

Lovely setting on the lake, more posh bar food than restaurant. Reasonably priced dishes, but £11 is by some distance the most I've ever spent on a pint of Stella.

Would recommend anyone to visit this lovely restaurant. Situated next to the lake we were able to sit outside and watch the watersports (which my children loved). Breakfast was lovely as were the staff.

Wonderful place to eat,also you can take advantage of the water activities they operate.

Visit regularly and service is good and food as well. If there was one complaint its the amount of people with dogs in the eating area. Strange that they are allowed inside. The previous time I visited 2 labradors barked all the time and the yappy dog behind me did as well. Owners of them did nothing to stop it.

Excellent food, all fresh and well made! Only thing that lets it down is the service drops when the bar gets busier - they could do with some more waiting staff. We had to go up to the bar to order our desserts and also...

Great restaurant next to the lodges where we stayed. We went there twice and had lunch and breakfast, on both occasions it was delicious. You can sit outside or inside, as the weather was good we sat outside to admire the view. This place is dog friendly. Thanks to all of the staff for their hospitality and making us feel welcomed

Really disappointed by the service. Won’t go into depth, as to many to mention. However, I feel the manager is more interested in being outside involved in the water sports & sunshine, than inside making sure everything is running smoothly. If you come here for water sport, expect great service. Expect the complete opposite when it comes to the food and drink side. The food is good! Chef does a great job. the staff are also lovely and polite! It’s just they have not had enough training (if any) and guidance at all. I can’t blame the staff, management is 100% to blame here. Real shame.

Had a really lovely experience, even though it rained , the lake surrounding, food, and staff were excellent…also sitting outside with the view of the lake, watching the waterski, was just lovely. A little gem, day and night…

Beautiful location and the food was good. Sadly we thought the service could be improved greatly. We waited a long time for our order to be taken and ended up going to the bar to place the order, it was busy but not enough that we needed to place the order ourselves. Once ordered the food came out quickly, one lady did very quickly come back to ask if all was ok, but had barely asked the question and was already heading back indoors before we answered, and then when it was bill time we had to again go and ask for it. I would normally leave a tip, but there was no option given with the card payment and given the service we got I didn't bother to ask. Maybe it was a bad day, or this is the standard they strive for.

Not what I would expect for somewhere marketed as a brasserie. Staff didn't know about the drinks they were selling, some items on the menu weren't available but we weren't told this until we ordered them. Food was ok, quite tasty but clientele less so. Surrounded by people yelling into phones, on video calls or vaping. Might have been better if we had sat inside but on a lovely day we had hoped to enjoy a meal in the evening sunshine. We ate and left

Visited the restaurant with a group of 15 we pre ordered The food all came out together and was correct, the quality of the food was good The lady that serviced us (didnt get her name) was very attentive, had a great sense of humour and remembered all our drinks! Great food in a lovely location by the lake.

The staff are very friendly and accommodating. I have a gluten intolerance and they did everything possible. So much so, we went back there for three meals in the four days we were holidaying there.

We went for lunch here for a birthday celebration. The staff were lovely but we did have some issues during our dining experience. We had a bit of a wait for our table, our drinks took a long time (about 20 minutes each time) and i unfortunately had a fake eyelash in my salad. To top it off one of the waiters accidentally knocked over a drink on one of our phone and didn’t replace the drink or check back on us. As before the staff were apologetic about the food issues and remade my food for me but for the price of the food (about £30 each) I was expecting better.

First visit. Went with friends for a retirement celebration. Staff excellent..very well looked after. Small menu but varied and good choice. Lamb flatbread very tasty. Also rely nice cheesecake. Had table overlooking lake. Lovely outlook. Pleased there was some shelter from sun as pretty hot. All on all a very nice wat to spend an afternoon. Will be back maybe for sunday lunch next time.

Really nice sitting out in the sun on the balcony. A massive fish finger sandwich, which did me for lunch the next day too. Milkshake was so-so. My friends had the mussels and the chicken burger, both of which were good.

Fantastic restaurant. We had a Sunday roast dinner here and it was delicious. We really enjoyed it. Service was really good. Location excellent. We went back the next day for an evening meal. Again, it was fantastic. One of the best meals we've had in a while. I would 100% recommend.

We had 2 breakfasts and an evening meal here over the Easter weekend. We visit a lot as we live quite locally and it’s always very consistent. The lakeside scrambles was just delicious and the best scrambled egg I’ve had. The chicken Caesar was delicious...
