We have been here many times before and generally don’t do reviews but thought I would leave one this time. Absolutely gorgeous food and the staff are lovely. We will definitely be back again

Terrible service 1 hour 30 minutes wait still no food phoned several times told few mins then won't answer phone, usually regular customer terrible service tonight

This place is so lovely. The staff are really friendly and the food is amazing. Chips are to die for, thank you for a really lovely night. Would highly recommend!

We visited the Kismet after a karting trip, which ran later than expected so we were late for our booking. We rang to explain and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. When we finally arrived they were welcoming and helpful. The food was excellent - hot, tasty, beautifully presented, and in spite of the late hour we weren't pressured to rush our meal at all. Thank you to all the staff, this is why the Kismet deserves its reputation as one of the best curry houses in the region.

I have been coming here since I was a child in the mid 80s And since covid this place has quickly going down bank! I had chicken tikka masala mushroom and cheese nan garlic rice. The masala was very watery chicken was tough as old boots 👢and bland and the portion was very small with only 5 pieces of chicken! The nan was like it had been cooked in a microwave. Doughy and undercooked The Garlic rice portion size once again stingy for the money they charge! And very greasy! I've give them a few chances I shall not go there again. Lastly the staff look at you like you're about to Rob them at gunpoint. So unwelcoming!! 👎🏽👎🏽

So tonight after a busy day we decided to treat ourselves to a kismet takeaway. It was absolutely terrible. The strangest sliced chicken in a curry I have ever seen. The chips were a soggy mess. So we spent £51 of hard earned money that has gone in the bin. Kismet, Burslem used to be one of the best curry houses in the city. Even my cats wouldn’t touch it and they love chicken. Very disappointed. My best advice…..avoid.

We have been going to The Kismet on and off for the last 43 years, it was one of the first restaurants that I took my (then) girlfriend (now my wife of nearly 40 years) to when we first started dating. It is undoubtedly one of the best curry eateries in the city, the food is superb and the staff are all friendly and welcoming, we will continue to dine here for many more years to come.

We often visit, and we are never disappointed. No matter what meal you choose, you can guarantee it will be very good quality. The Naan breads are really good… not too big, not too small, and just the right texture to mop up the extra sauce. Mushroom pilau rice is always on our order as it is so good. The staff are very attentive without being overbearing. The prices are very good too.

Great food and excellent service, there’s a reason why the Kismet is the oldest Indian restaurant in Stoke on Trent and still going strong.

We had a takeaway at the weekend and it was the worst that we have ever had. This upsets me as I have always been a big advocate for Kismet, calling them the first and the best in the city. Firstly the Nan was uncooked, gooey and doughy. The dupiaz was a bland sauce and raw onions in it, very sparse on chicken. The shaslick was not a sizzling chargrilled dish, it was chicken tikka chunks and very red and dry, the onion and peppers were raw with a scorch mark on each. Thank heaven the mushroom pilau rice, we would have starved without it. I wanted to ring and tell you but there was nothing you the damage was done. It is hard for me to write this but I feel I owe it too you to let you know.

Went to the kismet last night food was lovely but service was far to rushed they took my glass before it was empty and brought the bill before we asked for it we just felt like they wanted us gone off the table ASAP

In Stoke visiting friends and popped in on Tuesday evening. Fantastic meal excellent service and good value. Really surprised we managed to get a table perhaps Stokkies don't eat out on tuesdays

We visited the kismet in burslem on Saturday night for a family birthday celebration ! We were welcomed given a lovely seating area for our meal the restaurant was very busy but nothing was too much trouble for us ! The meal was excellent along with the service the owner even recognised my father from many years back when he used to frequent the restaurant in his earlier years it made my fathers evening as he was celebrating his 75 th birthday! Fabulous evening we will definitely be back thankyou everyone !

Just had my usual, Chicken Biryani, Garlic Chill Chicken with Spinach and Roti. By far one of the Best Curries I have ever had. Coming from a mixed Race family ( English/Indian) I have had 60+ years of Indian Bengali and Pakistani Cusine and Kismet Hartshill is beyond comparison.Fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend a visit or a takeaway.

First time ordering a delivery from here. Absolutely spot on! Could be our new favourite. Mixed starter, poppadums and dips. Chicken Tikka Massala and Balti Sauce. Keema rice, keema naan and garlic naan. Fed 3 of us. Lovely tasty food. We will definitely be back.

Horrible experience. The food and safety department need to visit the place and check it’s hygiene. My boyfriend was having a curry and bit into a stapler pin. He thought it was a bone but turns out it was a STAPLER PIN. Clearly the restaurant is not vigilant and irresponsible. Do not eat here!

Orderd takeaway saturday night absalute rubbish supposed to have been prawn balte.There was no spices in it there was one quater of tomato the sause was just brown water.Will pass from now on.

Disorganised mess with the booking from the outset. We were there for a family birthday. The food was very average. Then, when we asked for the dessert menu, we were told that we just had to pay and make way for another party. It was not a pleasant experience unfortunately.

One of the oldest Indian restaurants in Stoke-on-Trent. My first visit here was in the early 80s and having moved away from Stoke -on-Trent in 1984 I never went back to The Kismet until July 2019. On this ocassion I took my young daughter. The food is very, very good here and it was well worth the visit.

No words can describe how beautiful this food is by far the best place in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent

This is the 2nd time we have booked Kismit after hearing the food is good and again we were let down by the staff. They claimed the table would only be 10 minutes having arrived on time,. but 30 minutes later .. still no table. We gave up. Really poor. Won't book again.

Visited as a family when my sister came to visit. We hadn’t booked a table, but we were promptly seated, despite the restaurant filling up very quickly. Great service, excellent selection of dishes at very reasonable prices. Nothing was too much trouble, and when I mentioned that perhaps some of the staff from Burslem should work at the Hartshill restaurant and help them with their interpersonal skills, the manager took it on board. Offered complementary drinks after paying the bill by way of an apology for our experience at Hartshill, which was very thoughtful. We will definitely be going again.

Excellent Indian food with a good selection of dishes ranging from hot and spicy to mild yoghurt style, very good value for money.

One of the nicest currys I have had, authentic Indian curry and cooked by Indians. Great portions too.

I will only ever go to the Kismet for a curry now since discovering it two years ago. Before this, I was always disappointed with curries that were just chunks of meats in a watery sauce or not spicy enough.. This is NEVER an issue at the Kismet - their food is perfection!

Having not been out for a curry for a few years as I can’t tolerate anything cooked in Ghee, so I was sceptical about trying here but it was lovely.

The first and still the best Indian restaurant in Stoke on Trent, ask for Paul’s special apna curry. The place has just been revamped so us looking good.

Ate here last night. Although the restaurant was busy the service was still top notch! Friendly for children. Lively friendly atmosphere. Food fab! My party had a steak dish, lamb chop dish and two curry dishes. All great.

This review is regarding kismet in Hartshill,booked table for four 9 days in advance, arrived on time only to find no table allocated,after an approximately a 25 minute wait we were eventually sat down ,after another 10 minutes wait we were given a menu another 10 passed before we ordered drinks and poppadoms , these turned up quite promptly and were eaten and table swiftly cleared ,another eternity passed before we were asked if we were ready to order ,we then had to wait for someone else to turn up to take the order ,at this point we ordered 4 more drinks , only 2 turned up , we had to request the second 2 drinks a further 2 times before they turned up .

Called in whilst out for a drink with friends from work. There were seven of us and although the restaurant looked busy there was plenty of space so we were seated straight away.

Easy to find at the end of Queen Street Burslem with plenty of parking at the top of the street.straight in and seated no booking was required and the staff are so friendly we made to feel really welcome.so had spicy and plain poppadoms with a lovely tasting mint yogurt and mango tray with lime pickle.for the mains I had a beautiful chicken tikka massala vindaloo hot.my partner opted for the chicken korma as usual and she said it was gorgeous the chicken was tender. I will say though next time I will ask for half portion as there dishes are huge had to doggy bag the rest which was not a problem at all. The garlic naan are huge and full of flavour. And washed down with an ice cold pint of draught Cobra why not.

We are fairly frequent visitors to The Kismet which is a typical "old school" curry house. Nothing wrong with that. There are a large choice of dishes on the menu but we tend to stick to the Thali dishes & Roshun Fish, the latter of which is really nice & quite unlike anything we've had elsewhere. Service is always very friendly & we've never had to wait long for the meals to arrive.

Bitterly disappointed with this restaurant, we were visiting the area and lots of people recommended it. My husband had Chicken Jalfrezi, which was just about average and I had the Chicken Balti. Mine was like a soup that you had blitzed in the food processor and then just added chicken, a lot of which were hard and I left on the plate. The dhal was tasty but watery. The staff were nice and the prices were good, but I wouldn't return on the quality of this offering. A very average place.

The best curry house in burslem and theres a few of them there. The south indian chicken is superb and the staff and service are superb. Love places that serve cobra on draught too.

I have never had a curry with so much oil in it, literally swimming in the stuff. The chicken had a strong taste as though it was old. I pointed out the oil to the waiter, who stated it was normal! Very poor, will not bother returning.

Was there last week very good food. I had onion bhaji & chicken thali my wife had chicken tika starter then chicken tika thali the menu stayed the same for years, now it's much more varied & great, service was great too.

Food is always delicious at the Kismet, staff are very friendly and the restaurant is very clean. I cannot fault the place at all and would highly recommend to others.

Staff were very helpful, but I found the food was not to the standard I am used to in indian cuisine.

We were a party of 14 celebrating a retirement, we were all welcomed into the restaurant, and shown to our table, drinks order taken we then had poppadum's and pickle. Our orders for our main course was taken, and duly delivered, all fourteen meals arrived quickly and together no one was left waiting, everyone enjoyed there food. Overall a very enjoyable evening with wonderful food, and great service, thanks to everyone at the Kismet

Went here for my brothers birthday for a meal, would not come back as the meals themselves were cold and fatty. One of the worst places that I have ever eaten at.

I remember going here as a child and the food was good so it was nice to take my son and his fiancé there for a fantastic meal. I had the special thali and struggled to eat it all, great selection of food.

Always good food and service, we also order takeaways which are prepared very quickly. The platter starters are excellent and are wonderfully fresh. The mains can be ordered with slightly higher levels of spice if you wish. Naan breads and other accompaniments are really tasty. I can recommend the Bangla beer

Im quite frankly sick of giving this place chances to redeem itself, i telephone to reserve a table before each visit and on each visit they dont have my booking down, what is that all about !!! Last meal was bland in honesty. I dont think I'll be giving anymore chances.

Come here regulary - and we order to take away, very nice food staff friendly. chicken balti is nice and the chips are the best ive ever tasted.

We only decided to go to kismet on 30th Dec for an early doors New Years meal. They could only fit us in at 5.30, not a problem. It was perfect. I didn't like the table so they moved us. They were exceptionally busy but the service was perfect. The food was very fresh and tasty. They all worked exceptionally hard, with a smile on there faces. They all deserve medals, thank you and happy new year.

My family and I visited between Xmas and New year.It was very busy and can see why.Our meals were lovely and great value. We will definitely return.

Met my friend here for a pre-Christmas Meal, it was a quiet Wednesday evening.Service has always been great here, you never have to wait long for drinks and plates to be cleared.The poppadoms are warm and crispy. The dips are delicious!I ordered the Supreme Chicken Thali for main. Two chicken dishes, potatoes, rice and naan bread for £9.50. Excellent value and very tasty.

Went with my family for a birthday celebrationthe food was ok i had chicken and spinach balti nothing to shout home about but not the worst curry ever i must admit there was a few people in the party who didn't really enjoy theirs The service was good never waited for anything, so would recommend if you want good service, food needs a bit of upgrading then it could be a great place to eat a curry, the curry house itself is a little dated but has a nice ambience to it

Little atmosphere here now, a dour unenthralling experience with little communication or banter.Food was decidedly poor with too much ghee in most of the dishes and the chicken dhansak almost flavourless.This place is a shadow of its former self and definitely needs to get its actually together. Massala Junction in Shelton knocks spots off it.

Five mates on a night out where better to finish the night off.The service was fast and efficient. The food was average as I would have liked a bit more spice in my mixed Balti .But good atmosphere and there was no pressure to vacate the table after eating. Not overpriced well worth a visit.

The Kismet has had a much-needed refurbishment since our last visit a few years back. Gone is the flock wallpaper replaced by clean lines and pretty tasteful decor.The welcome and service overall was very good but sadly, the food fails to reach the same standard. The poppadoms, rice and naan bread were fine but he main events, the curries, were extraordinarily bland and lacking in flavour. No depth of spice flavour, no heat in the balti, limited coconut in the Korma. All a great shame.

Been here a lot of times an the past three time its slowly started to slip.. the staff are ace its just the quality of the food .Chips not cooked properly an chicken rubbery..the best part of the meal was the popadoms

Of all the curries I've had in Indian restaurants, this has got to be one of the best. I had a lamb sagwola, and it was AMAZING. I went when it was very busy and we were sat upstairs, I didn't mind this really though. The food came out reasonably quickly as well.

The staff here look after you from the minute you enter, the food is excellent the best I've had in the area, will definitely return for many occasions

We have eaten regularly at this restaurant over the last couple of years. We recently went as a party of 6, the food was outstanding and exceeded any we had eaten there before. Really impressed.
