It's a good pub however, like every Wetherspoons in the world, there is no atmosphere which takes away from any sort of enjoyment other than the obvious drinks and food. Loved the quiz night

Great place for a steak and a pint! Very reasonably priced compared to the surroundings and the whole family enjoyed it. All meals were made fast and the staff were friendly. Walked in on Saturday with no need to book any tables and we were catered to very well without breaking the bank 😀

I was in here on the quiz night and it was a great night. Not been here in around 6 months but what a turn around. Food is night and day, came out within 5 minutes whilst the pub was busy. All the staff I spoke to were friendly, the pub was warm and had a great atmosphere. I’d recommend giving the puffer another shot if you once had written it off as I did.

Nowt to say it's a whetherspoons been in one been in them all cheap pints always a bonus....

Large restaurant with plenty of space at lunch time. Drinks and food come out quickly and were good quality. Very reasonable prices.

You'd reckon with it being the coldest week of the year so far they'd at least make use of the log fire..... clearly not. I've been sat here for over an hour and zero 🔥 Even joking with the staff and they didn't take me up on it😳

Very nice place. Booths with usb chargers and dimmer switches for the lights. Felt disappointed in the attitude of one member of staff but ffs I'm not that great a customer either so let's all hug

First time in this place. Good atmosphere, friendly staff and very reasonable prices for drinks. Didn't try the food but friends say it's good.

Very loud, really bad smell that was making my daughter feel sick. Toilets were absolutely freezing cold. Food a bit disappointing. Chicken tilka masala was nice, veg beyond burger was sloppy, had a very small portion of chips. The kids meal had more chips than my adult meal. As usual drinks were good price.

Frequent visits as living nearby. Especially welcoming this time of year with a lovely log fire burning away. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Food's great and the drinks are plentiful. Can't beat the prices either.

Look, I know its a Wetherspoons, but honestly this place is a reliably decent pub with good quality food. Give it a shot! I've had a better experience here than some high end restaurants that rely on waiters/waitresses! Never had food from here that I didn't enjoy, and everything is SO cheap! Been here like 6 times for food in the last month (a borderline addiction some would say). just because of the reliability of good food, minimal effort ordering process through the app, and extremely low cost (sometimes a giant burger and chips and drink are as low as £7!). If you're looking for a chilled out pub with mobile app ordering (no awkward ordering at the bar! yay!) that is mostly filled with quiet pensioners eating or quiet solo drinkers for a nice bit of grub then this the place for you.

It's been years since we are here and there are quite a few changes, a lot more space inside and now a beer garden. Still up to the Wetherspoons quality standards both in food and staff, great. Well worth a visit 👍 Mid October we were able to sit in the beer garden it was lovely. One suggestion regarding the doors to the beer garden, please make them easier to open, with both hands full they do make life difficult. Almost a year on and the doors are the same, still a great place.

I am totally disappointed breakfast was cold, not sure what the black pudding was. Cold fried eggs just left it. Definitely not up to the standards

My only problem with this place is the regulars can just walk up to the bar and on most occasions get served b4 others who have been waiting in fact sometimes probably due to staff knowing what the want their drink gets poured without them having to ask.

Very disappointing visit recently. Rare steak over cooked and given a madras instead of masala and told it was my fault so had to pay if I wanted to change it. Not the first spoons to underwhelm lately.

Bog standard pub, everything as expected, food was hot and tasty, served quickly, restaurant and toilets were clean, can't really fault it.

Kirky Puffer is the place to be i absolutely love it been going there for years and years. The food is always immaculate! Never had such as a single hair found all the years ive went. It has a beautiful layout inside and always an amasing happy atmosphere! Staff have always been very pleasant to me and family and friends. The prices are really affordable too. Not to mention the amasing beer garden with plenty seats to choose from. Ive attended their monthly pub quiz on occasions too and its a good laugh. Definitely my favourite pub restaurant in Kirky! 100% recommended!

Second time here, and the atmosphere is unbeatable. The price of the refillable coffee is a bargain! Will come again

Food was just ok, usually with Weatherspoons you know what you're getting but the fish and chips and the burger were below the usual standard.

Great pub on main street in Kirkintilloch. Food good and drink cheap. One of the cheapest pubs I have been in. Atmosphere okay. Outside area for summer lovely it's a wee sun trap.

Service horrendous. Waited an hour for food and 45 minutes for drinks. Yes it was busy but other weatherspoons in Glasgow always busy and have never waited more than 15 minutes for food. Tables dirty and sticky and too close together. Lots of tables not cleared for a long time. When we complained about the wait staff member was pretty rude. Definitely won't be back.

Shocking customer service refused to service a group of 10 on a retire night out after only 3 drinks with no proper reason, bar was really quiet. Will not be back

4 people present behind bar but then only 1 person serving most of the night asking for support on ear piece to no support from colleagues. At some points in night noone behind bar and when asked at glass returns window is anyone serving customers were then refused to be served.

Went for steak night, was very enjoyable. Well worth the trip.

Ordered a mix grill, but informed they don't have ingredients. Dirty, horrible place filled with useless staff and unsavoury customers. Avoid avoid avoid !

Typical Wetherspoon outlet - a great selection of real ales, plus wines and soft drinks at the usual excellent prices. We had a baked potato and a cheese and tomato panini in the sunny spacious beer garden - see the picture. OK, the panini looked as if it had been put together by a five-year old, but it tasted fine and I don't go to Wetherspoons expecting haute cuisine. But our bar snacks only cost £14 (two beers included in that price). And with one of the pints on the drinks menu only costing £1.71 a pint - and others around £2.26+ - I'd certainly have drinks and eat there again. WYSIWYG. Great value.

incredibly rude staff and terrible service, found a clump of hair in my food and was told it was my own when i have a buzzcut. will not be coming back.

One of the best, if not the best Weatherspoons I have been to. Nice decor, very clean, friendly staff. Haggis pizza is a must try 5*

Staff were amazing! But the food wasn’t great, passable if your maybe on the drinks but for my burger it wasn’t great. This could be down to it being busy. Will definitely visit again for another meal to See if it was just that

Warm and cosy round near the back, burner on to heat the place: fairly busy. Wetherspoons app wouldn't work, so off to the bar, server warm, friendly & accommodating. Curry Thursday order chicken jalfrezi, chicken tikka and 2 x grilled chicken katsu curry: curry's were nice, rice was over cooked and stuck together in lumps, poppadoms a hit or a miss, half crisp / half rubbery. Option for refill on tea and coffee.

We recently visited kirky puffer for the 1st time, portions were appalling and ordered macaroni it was kraft pasta and NOT homemade macaroni, we won't be back could also do with making a better selection available, pretty poor

I love the puffer but the Scottish breakfast I got this morning was cold and tasteless first bad meal out puffer not impressed coffee was bitter as well sorry

Last week, my girlfriend and I went to the Kirky Puffer for an evening meal which was fine. The following morning we went for breakfast (fried eggs, bacon, beans, tomato, mushroom and hash browns). When the breakfast arrived, the beans on both plates were COLD, not just slightly warm, but COLD. The plates were also cold. When the waitress was told, she took the breakfasts away. A few minutes later she brought 2 fresh breakfasts but again the beans were COLD and the plates were cold. We told the same waitress, who took the breakfasts away that there were no hash browns either. We said we didn't expect to get fresh breakfasts but to warm up the beans and add the hash browns. About 10 minutes later the waitress returned with 2 breakfasts on red hot plates but this time there was no bacon on the plates. We didn't want to complain again. Finished the breakfast and left, never to return. I don't think it's rocket science to expect warm / hot food on WARM plates.

Very, very cheap booze (2 pints for under a fiver still, which is unheard of) and alright food. Usually lots of space, plenty tables.

Very confused and disappointed with how me and my friends were treated when we had sat down and got settled. A worker came over and told us we need to leave as we have no ID and it’s only 18’s and above allowed at the time. ( it was 7:13pm). We have been countless times as we live in kirkintilloch. And never have we had this issue, we have came for breakfast before festival weekend, before holidays, we go for lunch now and again too. I then phoned up and the women on the phone continued to say that no matter what day it is or time, no one under the age of 18 can be served without 1 person in the group having ID. Which again I’ve never been asked or even been questioned the countless times I’ve been. For somewhere that is a child friendly bar, it is not. All we went in for were desserts. Never heard the likes of under 18’s not allowed to be in somewhere for food at not even quarter past 7.

Great for cheap night out. Food was acceptable and beer was cheap.

We had three small plates, roasted veg pizza, halloumi fries, chips with cheese sauce, and a battered fish a chips with mushy peas. Of that the halloumi was fine, and the veg off the pizza was OK. That leaves quite a lot that was substandard. All of the chip were soggy, the one covered in a cheese sauce, which was probably squeezed out of a tube, quickly congealed into a solid lump. As the chips were unappetising it was no great loss. The battered fish was greasy and tasteless, fortunately the mushy pea were OK. It is tuff to stuff up opening a tin and warming it. Would we do it again, in the words Arther Dent, not until we become masochists on a diet.

Staff are always polite and helpful, nice family friendly place for a nice lunch with very reasonable prices. The big breakfast is probably the best choice in Kirkintilloch. My mum likes the atmosphere and seeing the kid's enjoying themselves 😀

Love this wee pub. Always served by great staff. My daft wife left her phone last night. Guess what the great people of Kirkintilloch handed the phone into bar. Just love the honest people of Kirkie....thanks and thanks to the lovely staff at Wetherspoons x

Nice enough for a bit of breakfast disappointed that my scrambled egg was fried and I could have counted on one hand how many beans I got I also asked if I could remove the potato scone and have mushroom instead only to be told the will remove the potato scone but charge for the mushroom seemed a bit tight for a £4.50 Scottish breakfast 1 sausage 1 potato scone bacon Black pudding about 1 Milimeter thick 1 slice of toast which I had to go and ask for a portion of butter my coffee was £1.50 I believe so like £6.25 if I remember right for a dry poor quality Breakfast I understand they use it as a loss leader to get you in the door but a bit of pride and effort would have made all the difference

A former police station. Features some of the original cell doors. Outside seating available. Re-visit mid October to find the open fire lit. Really cosy.

It's a good place if you don't have anything else to do.

Excellent, steak night Tuesday. Delicious gourmet sirloin steak with choice of drink. Very pleasant staff going about their work with a smile.

Came this morning for breakfast, both wanted pancakes. No pancakes. OK, Eggs Benedict then. No Eggs Benedict. Was told there might be some pancakes in the order that just arrived... but nobody bothered to check. Just left and went across to nonnas. Come on, Puffer, your breakfast used to be the best!

Nice big hearty breakfast to set you up for the day, good value too. Relaxed atmosphere.

We both visited this old police station recently situated near the canal side of Kirkintilloch, we found the staff to be pleasant and attentive, the decor was of a police station theme, on the downside the toilets were upstairs but obviously the disabled toilets 🚻 were on ground floor it also has a fair sized beer garden for the sunnier days.
