Thoroughly enjoyed the ambience, the very professional friendly staff & the food was outstanding. Well worth a visit. The landlady came to take our desserts & was incredibly lovely and informative.

We came here for an evening meal. We were greeted at the bar and offered menus, we asked if we could sit outside, which was no problem, the young man then took our drinks order while we looked at the menu. We didn’t take long to decide, we took our seat outside the front of the hotel. A glass of water was brought to our table when our cutlery was brought to us by another friendly young man. We didn’t have long to wait for our food, we chose the sea bream and the burger and a side of cheesy garlic bread. Both mains were well presented, and absolutely delicious. The server came and checked on us part way through which was nice. After we’d finished he cleared the plates and offered us the dessert menu. Again we didn’t take long to decide, brownie and gooseberry fool. Once again we didn’t have long to wait and they were as well presented and as delicious as the mains. Once we had finished, we went to the bar to pay the bill, which given the setting and the quality of the food, was very reasonable.

Edit to my review below: Owners reply is a lie. Why would we sit for over an hour with a hungry child until after 9pm on the chance we may get food when we still could have gone somewhere else at 7:50pm. And if you are so confident in your reply to this review why have you blocked me and my review deleted from your Facebook page. You can't delete Google reviews can you so just have to lie. Avoid! Waited over and hour with a child to get our order taken to then be told after 9pm they couldn't take our order as they we're too busy. We (2 adults and a child) called in here this evening for a meal. It was around 19:50 and we hadn't booked. We asked at the bar if we could order food, the bar man went and asked the rude woman owner/manager and she told him it would be around 30 minutes (we could hear this conversation) we ordered drinks and went and sat down. While I appreciate it could be busy in the kitchen the place itself was not busy, we were told we could sit wherever we wanted. I got menus and also checked should we ordered at the bar and was told someone would come and take our order. After 45 minutes my husband went back to the bar and ordered another drink and also checked would someone be taking our order. He had spoken with the rude woman manager/owner who told him to bare with them and someone would be over. 30 minutes later the rude woman came to our table to tell us they were too busy to take our order. Despite the fact it was clear to see how much more empty it was, she told us there was still food coming out of the kitchen. If they had explained they we're busy and refused us at 7:50pm when we still had chance to get food somewhere else we would have completely understood. Instead we wasted time and spent money on drinks! All the while our son getting more hungry and we we're then unable to eat anywhere else. She tried to deny we had made the initial enquiry at 7:50pm and claimed the first acknowledgement of us being there was when my husband had gone in to enquire for the 2nd time 30 minutes earlier. We had been in for drinks a couple of nights earlier and my husband had said he didn't want to go in there again as they were rude. We are staying local in an air bnb and due to convenience I convinced him to give them the benefit of the doubt. Such a shame because the place looks nice from the outside but the rude woman running the place totally let's it down. I'll be sure to warn others when leaving my review for the air bnb to avoid this place.

Just visited the restaurant not the hotel. Absolutely great food, 2 waiters were brilliant, lovely service and setting at a reasonable price

Booked here for a family meal while visiting from overseas but were sorely disappointed Waited for an hour before they came to take our food order, and we then waited another hour for our food(none of which was complicated - pizzas and pasta) Understandable (maybe) if the restaurant had been busy but only a handful of tables were in so no reason for such a delay To add insult to injury, when we expressed our dissatisfaction with the length of the wait, we told it was because two of our party arrived late. This was insulting as they arrived less than 10 minutes after our booking, but we were not asked if we were ready to order for another 50 minutes It’s a bad example of customer service when nobody apologizes and they try to put the blame on you as a customer! So disappointed in the response from the owner. Once again, trying to shift the blame onto the customer for poor service. There really is no excuse for delaying taking our order unless your serving and kitchen staff are so inept they can only deal with one table at a time. But I guess if people don’t mind being ignored and penalized for part of the party arriving late then good for them. Personally I expect better service when going to a restaurant

We had a really lovely meal to celebrate our parents 50th Wedding anniversary. We hired the function room and decorated with balloons etc. The staff were so lovely and helpful and made the night really special. The meal was absolutely delicious and we would highly recommend.

Having not come here in many years, my daughter and I came in for some food one evening. The whole experience was fantastic: great service, great food and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. My daughter had to spend ages deciding which pasta meal to have! It's also great to see a place that's dog friendly . We will be back.

Living locally not experienced an overnight stay so can't comment on that. I can tell you the food is not worth eating. Didnt even to bother to ask me how I would like my steak cooked or what I would like it with. Chief doesn't even know the difference between a dolphinours potatoe and dried up old gratins. Disgusting. It is a horrible atmosphere too. Children are Definitely NOT welcome (I should have realised with there being no childrens menu what so ever) and dog's arent appreciated either despite them advertising this establishment as dog friendly. Hate to insult a local business but the village does contain some gorgeous bnbs. And i highly recommend the village stores for lunch. Lovely village, avoid the hotel After reading the response from the manager here I am shocked though not suprised. To attempt to shame us thus disreputing my honest review is typical of bad management and confirmation that what I said was true and fair. To attempt to blame my completely soppy dog on banning us is an utter joke. Or my lack of caring. She got to close to a dog that had recently been attacked so i nipped her home straight away. It was only after that that you chose to ban us. Not one of us doing a single thing wrong. I am very proud of my son and my dog. I attempted to do right by everyone that night. I am happy to be barred from such an awful place knowing full well we did everything right. Sometimes in life you just come across nasty little people.

We enjoyed a very good meal last night. Great food and wine and excellent service. Great to see our local pub, hotel, restaurant greatly improved. The staff are welcoming and friendly but above all exceptionally professional.
