The King's Head is good at any time of year. The Christmas singalong is just plain stellar. There are always really unusual guest ales, and even beers brewed especially for the pub. Friendly staff complete the offering. Stamford is full of pubs. The King's Head is some thing special, small but perfectly formed.

You'd be hard pressed to find a cosier establishment. The staff were great fun and very knowledgeable on the generous selection of craft\cask ales available.

One of my favourite pubs in the area. Charming, family run, friendly local independent pub with great food and an amazing beer selection.

After finally getting a place at this pub after 3 years of trying I can say that it was a decent experience. The staff offer great customer service and are very welcoming and there is a great atmosphere because it is very busy. However, I was disappointed with the obviously frozen fries that accompanied my burger, my brother who had fish and chips had homemade chips. The burger itself was not anything special and lacked seasoning or flavour, I also detected a small piece of gristle in the burger that wasn't very pleasant. If I buy a burger from a pub or restaurant and for a premium I expect to be presented with locally sourced high quality burger and fries but this didn't reach that standard, I might of well gone to a popular burger chain for less than half the cost. Update on response: Thank you for your reply. I think you have a great historic pub and all I want is for the food to live up to the location and service you provide. I forgot to add I wasn't too keen on the metal trays as it reminded me of more a fast food location. Anyway I look forward to revisiting if you improve.

Their fish and chips are gluten free and they are the best I have ever eaten. The batter is very light and the fish has proper large flakes. They also serve GF pies. The staff serve you food and drink at the table. NOT TO BE MISSED!

Totally love the Kings Head. The cosy interiors, the music, the menu and the staff are absolute vibes. The whole atmosphere is totally different to any other pub in Stamford. Always somewhere I bring friends when visiting Stamford and the first on the list if we’re popping in somewhere for a drink. Cannot wait for winter to take full advantage of the cosy yet vibrant vibes.

Arrived for what we were hoping was a quiet drink as we were told this was a traditional pub, how far from the truth could that statement have been, on arrival we were interrogated as to whether we were eating or drinking, after advising that we were just there for a drink we were told, not asked, to sit at a table very close to two other noisy males, we asked why we could not sit at one of the other five unused tables and were told that they were reserved, but not for over another hour, so we were allowed to sit at one, they were not happy with my approaching the bar to see what real ales were on offer and snapped' they are all on the board and it's table service', TBH it could not have been more untraditional had they tried and the icing on the cake was the dreadful (music) that obviously the young female staff may have liked but was I would imagine hated by that nights customers, Never again, dreadful place.

Really great lunch. All of our food was top notch and made with quality local ingredients. One of our party wanted to tweak what his burger came with and they were very accommodating. Full table service was a nice touch and the staff were all great.

Consistently our favourite place in all of Stamford. Been here a few times now and we just can’t stay away. From the cosy rustic atmosphere to the delicious food, everything here is perfect and not to be missed. The service here is fantastic, you’re greeted like an old friend and it’s table service, so there’s no need to get up from your seat, though I encourage you to in order to look at the selection of beers and ales on offer. The drinks are just as good as the service and pair perfectly with the excellent food. On this particular visit, I had the Crumpet Burger, which was absolutely fantastic. The beef burger was juicy and meaty, topped with Brie and salty bacon. The portion of chips on the side, in my opinion, is perfect and they’re crispy and hot! Plus, everything is locally sourced so it’s all incredibly fresh and you can really taste the difference! All in all, a great place to grab lunch in Stamford, to catch up with mates or enjoy a relaxing pint after a day out shopping. As always, I can’t wait for my next visit.

Nice pub with a pleasant atmosphere. Limited menu. Ordered chicken burger and frieds and a bacon and cheese burger with fried...which quality wise were lovely and the taste was nice. But quantity.....very poor, about half the size portion we've had at other establishments. £35.20 for a cider, a coke, 2 burgers and chips which when they came out looked like kids meals. Won't rush back.

The best pub in Stamford. Great atmosphere, lovely staff, and awesome burgers! I really recommend going here if you want a beer and some great food. The only one negative I can say is it’s 50/50 when you’re outside whether you will sit next to a smoking table, and as it’s quite enclosed, you will be getting a lot of second hand smoke, which isn’t great if you have asthma, or if you’re eating food outside.

Lovely friendly staff, squeezed us in for an hour before the table booking and table service was exceptional. Great beer choices too, only pub in Stamford that offered a stout/porter!

Spent a leisurely 3 hours in the garden bar of this delightful pub. Even though the weather was a bit iffy, where we sat was covered and had an overhead heater. A big shout out to Isabelle who was outstanding. Greeting us at the door, sharing her expert knowledge of the beers and her overall sunny disposition, made our weekend away even better.

Bakers Dozen ales are seved in superb condition. The staff are knowledgeable and excellent in their attitude.

One of the best pubs in Stamford in a very old building. Tiny little bar which is just so cute. Because the bar is so small the staff prefer table service and they are ON IT. Really friendly and knowledgeable about the food/drinks. Small walled beer garden too with heat lamps and if you don't fancy a big meal they also do bar snacks. Couldn't recommend enough.

My first visit to Stamford and lucky enough to walk in to the Kings Head. Faultless. Attentive welcome, cracking selection of craft IPAs and great food offering. The table service was friendly and efficient. If I lived closer I'd be spending all my spare time here. Really look forward to returning.

Great little pub, Food was amazing and atmosphere was great, beer was lovely. Staff were ultra friendly (sat in the courtyard on Friday lunch time) Gave our friends dog some treats and we got to sample a key lime pie they were taste testing! Delicious! Next time I’m visiting Stamford I’m definitely coming back here again!

Called in this lovely little pub last night ( 29/3/24 ) for a drink and bite to eat with my son. What a treat it was! This gem of a find dates back 1675 - deeds of the building on display - it is everything you would expect of a quintessential, old English pub, with its low beamed ceilings, beautiful fireplace and cosy, welcoming atmosphere. The staff are warm and friendly, the service is excellent and the food was perfect. I had the 3 Bean Chilli Nachos which was extremely tasty, my son had a Chorizo and Halloumi Burger served with a side of fries, which was equally as good. All reasonable in price too - even better! I can highly recommend this gorgeous little pub both for quality of food, excellent service, as well as the huge smiles that greet you from the Staff! They offer a vast array of craft beers too! A beautiful pub, first time here and as we walked in I said to the boys check out the bar as its table service. Hardly out my mouth was a cold welcome as to had we made a booking not a question but an accusation… it didn’t get better to her then telling them to look at the sign! Luckily the food was very good so hence my 4/5 on food alone, the burgers were amazing my Stilton and stout onions was delicious and it does literally come with a handful of chips as stated on the menu which were hot and crispy. For me perfect portion size but not for the boys, maybe a go large? When we finally got her attention about the deserts, her description didn’t entice us to desert. Service 1/5, not sure if understaffed but we literally ate and left. Also a tad cold. Maybe a midweek try next time 🤷🏼‍♀️

Great place to have a drink. The food is pretty good too. The place would benefit from having buzzers/ pagers or a virtual queue system due to the amount of people who are coming to a pub for a drink/ meal and being ask to wait or not being able to be accommodated. It would make life easier for both- customers and the staff.

Very popular location, with a relatively small menu, but it offers daily specials. Good range of ales, which on occasion, run out. Affable and attentive staff, but the service was somewhat slow.

This is a small pub with a big welcome. The staff are really friendly, welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The menu had a good choice and the food was lovely - we had three different dishes and we all really enjoyed the food. We will definitely be returning.

Called in today after my son played football Have to say the food was outstanding the burgers were full of flavour and the chips cooked to perfection, Service was spot on and staff very friendly and welcoming. Fully recommend to anyone wanting quality food.

Popped in for lunch on a rainy Thursday afternoon. There was plenty of space to sit but it got busier after we arrived. We had the Croque Monsieur and Halloumi and Chorizo toasted sandwiches and they were incredible. Staff were really friendly and it had a lovely atmosphere. We can't wait to come back in the summer. Visited the Kings Head with friends. What a lovely little pub. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we walked through the door. Has a great range of beers so next time I will make sure my wife’s driving. The food menus caters for all, I had a lovely veggie pie with chips and vegetables and it was absolutely beautiful. The owner is a really friendly guy and we will definitely visit again soon

Lovely quiet pub away from the busy part of town, food was decent and well priced. Man behind the bar recommended a great zero alcohol option and we loved that the pub was dog friendly. Overall great experience.

On a very cold day, after a good country walk, we wanted a pub meal and fell upon this place!! We got a great welcome from the minute we stepped in the door! The place was full but we were welcomed, seated and served quickly. The vegetarian fish and chips was the star meal!! It tasted brilliant and the owner was excited to discuss how we liked it and took the time to explain how he made. It was brilliant as was all the other dishes we had. Along with the great beers and mulled wine we had a great time before we walked back.

The Kings Head is our favourite Stamford pub. Just off the main High Street, it is a hidden oasis of cosy, traditional charm. Incredibly well run by friendly and efficient staff. It is waiter service only, which cleverly avoids the usual battle of thirsty punters at the bar. Not having eaten there in a while, we decided to try the burgers. They were incredible! I had a ‘Dunker’; cheese and bacon burger with dipping gravy. Honestly, it was the best burger I have ever eaten. My husband, was just as enthusiastic about his ‘Slaw Galore’; brie and coleslaw. The fries were crispy and hot. Perfect! We are already planning our next visit.

Came here yesterday with my husband before an event we were in Stamford for. Only went in for one drink but we enjoyed your heated beer garden and good music so much we stayed for hours. Thanks to your amazing & attentive staff!!

Just got back from Stamford where my friend and her young son had taken me for lunch at the Kings Head . It was a dreadful day weather wise and we were glad to get in out of the rain. As soon as we entered we were greeted warmly by two young ladies who found us a table even though the pub was busy . A drinks order and menu was provided quickly and the extremely well presented food came in a timely fashion. The chap behind the bar , although busy found time to make conversation. Everything about the whole experience was wonderfully positive. As someone who works in high end hospitality , I have occasionally been accused of being fussy , there was nothing to be fussy over with regard today’s experience, nice food, great service delivered by a charming team, I would definitely recommend and will certainly return.

Me and 3 friends of mine for the first time went to the Kings Head for lunch and were definitely not disappointed. We were all very impressed what we were served that day and all agreed it was fantastic food. Even had a dessert too. Drinks selection there was excellent too. The atmosphere and the staff were excellent too. We were so impressed that we went there back for an evening meal and again were excellent. I would definitely go back there again with my wife and already arranging to go back there for lunch again with my friends during December. Thank you for lovely food and service. Would recommend the Kings Head to anybody.

Great vegan food at a bargain price

It's nice, cozy tap room, couple of appropriate handpulls, basic food menu. Portions are small...so you won't be excessively overeating but there's a distinct lack of vegetables/salad with most dishes. All table service, so they bring drinks to you...doesn't feel like a pub, but with the number of random steps it's probably a good idea.

Absolutely amazing food top quality too. Staff very friendly. Nice to go out for a meal and get great food and atmosphere. Hard to come by. Keep up the good work.

Quite Saturday lunchtime due to the local horse trails, made welcome by the friendly staff we had the Brynjar Burgersson burger and BBQ Beef shin burger both really tasty. Nice courtyard and Beer, it did start to fill up as we were leaving. For sure we would go back when we are back in the area.

Myself and work colleagues was looking for somewhere to grab a hot meal.We was a walk in but the lady was very lovely to seat us in the back where there is a court yard garden.The menu is simple I had ordered an chicken burger it came with fries and it was delicious. Friendly for dogs and cozy setting.Would love to go back in the future to try there beef shin my friend had ordered that and it looked superb.

I had something here that I have not had for years, chips so hot I had to blow on them! They were lovely, as was the meal, the beer, the service, and the value for money. If you like your chips hot, get in there!

I had the sticky and stout burger and it was probably the best burger I've ever had - really well cooked with delicious ingredients (that I think are locally sourced. There's a really nice beer garden for sitting out in when it's warm (there are some undercover areas). The staff are really friendly and the prices are certainly value for money. They also have a wide range of craft ales and seem to really know their stuff in terms of beer and flavour. I've already been back since I first visited and the slaw burger got a vote of approval from my son.

The Brynjar Burgersson is outstanding and the service of the staff is very good. Highly recommended.

We went here with two pushchairs, and even though we had just walked past a cafe with a sign saying no pushchairs allowed, the staff at the pub were more than welcoming and accommodating. They were so friendly and the food was so great! Really looking forward to going back.

I have been going to the Kings Head for many years, mine and my wife's fave pre children! Alas I have not been in so much over the past few years. Best beer and food in town, always good service and a special thanks for the consideration when me and a KH newb had a slight error on our bill a few weeks ago, refunded a few days later, no fuss, we felt much loved. I Would give several more stars if they were available!

Had a lovely lunch here yesterday. We had a Brynjar Burgersson burger and the Braised BBQ Beef Shin. Both were cooked to perfection and very yummy! Fries were also really nice. Courtyard was nicely done and the staff very friendly, would definately return if in the area

Best pub in the area by a country mile! Beer selection is excellent and frequently changed usually helping shine a light on ‘smaller’ micro brewers. The food is excellent and pretty much exclusively sourced from the high street. The burger selection is a real USP compared to other in town and most certainly a great option. The staff have a real cohesive and family vibe which in turn emulates across your experience. Whether you fancy a quiet drink mid week or a very high energy, quirky and hilarious pub quiz on Sundays this place has it all.

Our first visit to Stamford, great local recommendation to go to the Kings Head. So few British pubs even sell British beers but here the choice was extensive, local the knowledge about them was excellent and they complemented the home-cooked food brilliantly. Delicious vegan menu choices too.
