The Kings Arms in Tendring

We popped in for a Sunday roast for the first time since the pub went under new management last year. WOW! The best roast dinner I’ve had in a restaurant ever. The meat was tender, the potatoes were perfectly crisp, the gravy was out of this world. I opted for a side of cauliflower cheese, which was delicious. The service was amazing too, lovely friendly staff who couldn’t have done more for us. Highly recommend! Can’t wait to go back.

Wow. Lamb Roast was unreal. We paid extra for some cauliflower cheese, plenty to share between 2, it was soooo yummy. Yorkies and veg were all fresh and fairly portioned. We managed to eat everything but was stuffed! Can’t believe this gem is down the road from us and this is the first time we’ve visited after a friends recommendation. Will definitely be back!!!

We had been really looking forward to having a roast dinner here after seeing all the photos on social media. Staff were lovely and attentive. We ordered 3 roasts and 3 soft drinks and the bill was £65 and for that price I want it to be faultless. The food looked nice and the flavour was there but it was Cold , I sent mine back and they replaced it but it was still cold and I didn’t get my parsnip. Cold roast potatoes are horrible. The hottest bit was the Cauliflower cheese that we paid extra for. None of the plates or the bowls that the veg came in were preheated. I work in the food industry and these little niggles can be so easily rectified. Such a shame as we left disappointed and will go elsewhere for a roast now.

Lovely pub and good food but we had to wait over an hour, no one else seemed To be waiting this long... when we went in too ask we got quite alot of attitude and when I mentioned that they could just have come out to let us know it was going to be an hour and again I got more snotty attitude no one bothered to check if everthing was ok after that.

Tried this local pub with our dog as she is in training. Staff were friendly and the beer garden is massive and well laid out

Decided to try a different place for a meal out today. This place was not a disappointment. The venue was beautifully decorated and very clean. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. The food was outstanding and cooked to order. And was well worth the money spent

We had a family birthday booked here. We waited over an hour for our starters but they had still not arrived. Durring this time, no one came over to the table to let us know why it was taking so long or apologise. One of our party ended up complaining, and we were told the starters were a few minutes away. We waited a further 30 minutes and decided to walk out. The manager did not apologise and try to say it was our fault for taking 10 minutes to decide what we wanted. The place was empty so who knows how bad it would be if there was more people wanting to eat. Avoid this unprofessional place at all costs

Just passing through and thought we would give this place a try, A beautiful pub, the food was delicious, we normally stick with brands, especially Hungry Horse but had a fabulous evening here, so pleased we stopped, thank you!

Just our party and one other couple in the restaurant. Food took approximately 40/45 minutes to arrive. Chicken dish was not as described (was not stuffed with chorizo) and not served with the stated caramelised red onion mousse, however still very tasty. Beer battered halloumi delicious, but served with hard, dry, crunchy chips which looked more potato wedges. Served with 'pea puree' which could easily be mistaken for mushy peas. Very dry

Had a Belated family birthday Sunday meal here. After hearing such good reviews about here, predominantly, we all had slightly different roasts, and we were all highly impressed with everything that we all had.. Roast potatoes were perfection, all fluffy inside but perfectly crispy on the outside ( only downside as a man could have done with a few more) Will definitely be going back and would highly recommend here .

EXCELLENT FOOD. Four of us had different things and everything tasted excellent! We’re all foodies and fussy so very good. Very good prices, quick and friendly service! Can’t recommend it enough. Loving the new management and great food on offer!

We visited the Kings Arms on 27th December , a large Family party . We had a nice table tucked away . We all enjoyed our meals . The service was good & friendly . There was a bit of a delay waiting for desert but they were having a problem with the electricity tripping .

1st Visit here and won’t be our last … One of the Best Roast Dinners I’ve had out at a Pub … Everything on the plate which quantity was plentiful was Fresh and not out of a Bag etc. I couldn’t say I disliked a single thing on the plate. Staff were very Pleasant and aimed to satisfy. Thanks Kings Arms we will be back ! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

As many have said, there is a complete transformation here since the new owners have taken over. The food was excellent and the service really attentive and friendly. You can tell that they really care and are deeply invested in giving you a great experience, and that goes a long way for us! The chicken stuffed with mozzarella wrapped in Parma ham is a dish you can choose in many places, and I do!!, but it was the very best I have had here at the Kings Arms. So moist and the mozzarella still gooey inside. The Baileys and white chocolate cheesecake was completely divine too! Thoroughly recommend!

Wish we lived closer to this fantastic pub! Great food, totally awesome garden for the children. We passed through on our way back from Frinton on a day out with our children and friends. The garden is spacious it's got a slide, swings etc! Happy adults and happy children. We got speaking to the owners who had just taken over. Lovely people and the food was 10/10! Wow, the new staff/management have really gone above to turn this pub around. The food is outstanding, not your average Sunday Dinner in a pub, the portions are perfect! They have plenty of options and extras I.E cauliflower cheese!! The veg was cooked to perfection and the meat ( I had beef ) tender and just stunning. My family and I will be returning. A very warm welcoming family pub. Dogs are also welcome. Great food and atmosphere

Not sure what’s happened to this business but very disappointed and it’s really gone downhill. Will not be visiting again! Use to be lovely here and nice food. We booked a table for 8 last Saturday for my father in laws birthday meal. Firstly the food took ages to come out, considering we were the only ones in the restaurant. When the food finally came out, the portion sizes were shocking. Main meals were the size of a starter! Tasted amazing, but the portion size was shockingly small. The children's meals were bigger than the adult meals! Then I ordered some baileys cheesecake to take away, so we could sit in the garden so the children could play. Half way through the cheesecake, I found a piece of cooked onion which made the rest of the cheesecake smell and taste of onion. I took it back and there were 3 members of staff at the bar who all apologised, but did not offer any kind of refund or anything. Apologies I don’t feel is acceptable, half of the cheesecake was inedible and I actually felt quite sick after eating this. When I came out of the toilet none of the staff even acknowledged me. Awful service.

The food was wonderful. Pub Sunday roasts are often, at best, average. Not this place. The meat was cooked perfectly. The lamb was just pink, very tender, good quality lamb, no fat. The red cabbage was so wonderful, it had some secret ingredient that made it special. The veg was cooked to perfection, al dente. The cauliflower cheese was flavoursome. The gravy was also full of flavour, not your usual bisto gravy, found in pubs. It was also very encouraging to find they had more than the standard, Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Pinot wines I could buy a Gavi by the glass. The bread and butter pudding was superb. We will definately return.
