The Kegworth Fishbar in North West Leicestershire

I have been eating here once a week for the past 6 months and never had a bad meal or bad deal. A great selection of the simple food you'd expect from a chip shop (fish & chips, pies, sausages, kebabs) and also some curries and tikka, and really good pizzas, and more. Massive portions, at very reasonable prices and the food tastes great. The staff are friendly, mostly sikhs I believe (hence people of honour who would not give you a bad deal) and efficient: I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes when ordering in the shop. I think it's one of the best chip shops I have been to anywhere. I look forwards to my weekly visit to the Big Fish and I'd eat there every night were it not for the fact that I must watch my weight! I'm heading there tonight and am looking forwards to it already!

We have used the big fish for a while and it was always really good, but the last 2 to 3 times its taken up to 2 hrs to deliver and the food has been virtually cold. When we have rung up to enquire where it is they say its on its way no apology for it taking so long. Won't be ordering again

Wow what a find the Kebab here is amazing freshly cooked and served in Naan bread very tasty large portions highly recommend

Ordered large chips, fish, sausage and beef and onion pie. Once I was home I opened the packet to the most vile smell, I honestly thought I or one of the kids had stud in doggy do!! Once at the table and I tucked into the pie to realise the smell was the gone off pie. I have never smelt nor tasted anything like it. Gone off milk would of been better!!!!! I took the pie back to be met by staff that found it quite amusing and extremely rude. So £17 down crap family dinner I can honestly say I will never be coming back to my local chippy. Do not waste you money.

Chips excellent, peas excellent, curry sauce, excellent, fish tasteless don't order it's tasteless fish

The fish was really not very good but the chips were lovely. My mummy had a fresh kebab which was great and very tasty. Worth the visit. The large fish was huge. Staff very accommodating and friendly 😀

Dropped in here whilst driving through, and ordered a sausage, chips with curry sauce special and with small bottle of coke the bill was £5.30. Verdict: has to be the worst meal I have eaten - chips were shocking, and clearly were reheated, shriveled and inedible whilst the sausage was fried/hot plated to death and the curry sauce was standing in its hot tray that long it had a thick, congealed skin which had formed as it was past its sell by date. If you don’t want to waste your money - avoid this place at all costs. I shall in the future - shocking place. 🤬

I have been here several times and would go back time and time again. One of the key reasons is freshness. Too often i have been served slightly yellow fish- but not here.It is white and tasty. They offer a broad range of foods. The staff are friendly efficient and are proud to display their rewards for good food hygiene-and so they should. If you are near East Midlands Airport leave a little extra time and treat yourself - you won't regret it.I have traveled the world and this is a good example of a typical British Fish and Chips shop.

Besides taking ages to get served then taking ages for the order to be prepared and the order being wrong and the staff being horrible, the food was grim and three days later my car still smells of rancid fish. Would not recommend, sorry :(

Got daily special, after eating fish was immediately sick and threw rest of it away. Usually I have constitution of an ox but not this time

This place has always had 5* food hygiene, the food is varied and tasty, with friendly, helpful staff.

Not very tastey and expensive. The batter receipe needs changing as it is really sickly and the fish was not cooked properly.

Food here’s ok, though like some other reviewers it depends on time and day you go. The best thing they do is their pizzas which are actually very good. The service can be appalling at times though. Waiting 15 mins for you order to be taken then another 15-20 for it to be ready is not unusual in my experience. I’ve stopped going here now & drive to east leake instead

This was a good place to eat. The sausage and chips were delicious. It was cheap three of us ate for around fourteen pounds so worth it.

Avoid Monday nights , the chips were cold, the pies were reheated and still cold. Used the chippy on various occasions and has been hit and miss depending on the day and time you go. If your desperate and out of all other options maybe as a last resort. I can’t understand with the closure of the competition they would raise their game to prevent them reopening, however with the past experience I really don’t know how they still exist.

Great little chipper, always fresh and the staff are friendly, it is kept very clean too and I have no hesitation in recommending this place. A+

Superb food! If you order fish, make sure you're hungry, as the potions are huge! Can't fault the place at all, friendly service too. A1

Where do I even start?? Kegworth fish bar is one of the best chippies I have been to! The staff behind the counter were very friendly and talkative! The food was absolutely out of this world! I couldn’t fault them at all!

My daughter and I had a takeaway from here and we both enjoyed the food. I had a cod and chips and my daughter had curry sauce and chips. Both meals were good and the staff were also very good, polite and helpful. I would definitely return.

just ordered large mixed kebab one of our favourites and it was horrid really small portion slimy chicken over cooked donor meat salad ok but sparse. not nice.

Absolutely shocking think the fish and chips had been cooked hours before we went in got them home and went in the bin

Awful delivery. Took ages, worker was Mardy on the phone then kept making rude comments when he got here, knocked when we said to ring whilst outside due it being 1am, food was burnt, overall would NOT here again!!

We ordered 2 pizzas one of which had mould on the base we took it back and was given a refund but have not and will not return. The shop and staff look grubby and could do with a good clean !

Alojarse en el hotel cerca pero llegamos tarde en nuestra primera noche y el restaurante estaba lleno. Vimos el pescado en de nuestro hotel y nos ahorramos de hambre! La comida es buenísima, gran servicio, gracias.

Bar de pescado de Baileys costaba es el mejor por aquí. Excelente calidad, recién preparado, buen tamaño de porción. Totalmente recomendado para todos
