The Jolly Friar II in Wiltshire

I really like this place. since starting work at a local business near by i have gone here and gotten myself a friday treat most weeks. the service is really fast and the people always seem very friendly. i really like the food, my normal order tends to be a chip butty and battered sausage with curry sauce all of which tastes great! plus they're very generous with the chips :)

Popped in for a large battered sausage and coke, cost me £4 which I don't mind paying if nice, unfortunately this was far from it, the sausage was soggy on the outside and hard and chewy in the inside, absolutely disgusting.

My battered sausage was not cooked through and was still pink. Eat some of it and now feel sick. Shame as the service was great.

Food was good, portions HUGE, staff helpful, recommended!

My son work for this vile man when he asked if his money was going up to the minimum wage because he had turned 16 he was accused of stealing out of the till no evidence give and was allowed to work the entire shift and take food home before he was fired through txt when I tried to call the owner for a explanation he would not awnser seems he only wants to employ young 15 year olds then when they turn 16 and have to be paid minimum wage he gets rid will be taking things further for sure. Avoid this nasty little man

Good portions and good service very quick as well

The fish I got was very dry and the batter was soggy. I think it must have been waiting under the heater for a long time. The chips were good and plentiful. Quite expensive for a disappointing meal. The service was excellent but won't go there again.

We had beef and onion pie and chips this evening 1/3/24. Very disappointed as the chips were luke warm, they tasted warmed up the pie was also not that hot 😕

Large portions but very expensive.

The fish (cod) had obviously been left for ages, as it was dry and tired- no sign of any crispy batter. Chips were acceptable, but no more. Given the already expensive cost, very disappointed.

The fish and chips have been anaemic at times. Friendly staff. I Wouldn't recommend it though. Won't be back again, sorry

The chips are excellent. Lots of places give bad chips. Not here! Last time, for whatever reason, our order was slightly wrong. We called them back and after clarifying everything they offered a refund or an immediate pick up. When we went to collect the refund they were beyond apologetic. Even a lady in the back came out - it was nothing to do with her! Very pleased and very full afterwards (as my order was all ok). Would highly recommend.

Good food, good service, good staff. The food was piping hot, freshly cooked, even near closing time.

Every time I visit this Fish and Chip shop I receive a very fast service, in and out in no time at all, they are all on the ball, the food is great and they give decent size portions too, all in all an excellent service. 👌

Excellent fish&chips and mush peas. Chose haddock and a lovely batter being freshly cooked while I waited for it to be fried. Proper f&c chips and very generous portion. Paper bag to carry, would be better though in a cardboard box for heat retention and sturdiness.

Staff aren't very jolly and now there is a minimum £10.00 spend on a card so useless for single meal purchasers like me, fish usually the size of a Sprat so even less reason to go there now.

It takes so long to get the food

Yep! Delicious chips; well cooked with no smell of oil, and great everything I have had on menu. Decent chefs, and good value for money.

If I decide to go to the Jolly fraiar to end of the city, instead of ordering something delivered to your door, that mean is the best fish and chips in the area: D It's worth going and picking it up in person. Much better than the fish and chips they offer for delivery.
