We have been to The Inn At Whitewell previously a number of years ago, we were trying to remember whether we had stayed previously or only ate there as we did this time. It is set in the Forest of Bowland and thus there is some stunning scenery around. The food was great. I am glad to say that it hasn't changed (the menu has - obviously). The service was very attentive and the food was delicious. We started with scallops, potted crab, poached pear salad, ad treacle cured smoked salmon, presentation and taste were superb. For mains we had fish and chips, Cumberland sausage and champ, cheese and onion pie, and fish pie. Again we could not fault anything. It is a grand day out for us to be able to reach it and whilst, we will never be frequent visitors it is always in our thoughts for a weekend away or en route to or from somewhere as this visit was. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Read about the pub about 15 years ago, if you ever go you will carry on going, without a doubt this is the best pub ever, do yourself a favour, find it if you can and drink it in, sorry. No pun intended. will be going back in September and November, out of this world...

Lovely relaxing stay, views from the Inn truly outstanding. The staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was to much. If you love your grub, this is the place for you. The room was spacious, with some lovely detail's, only wished we'd had better weather to make use the attached wall garden.

We had a reservation for lunch today the food was very good. However we were seated in the hallway away from the main dinning room. All the other tables seemed to have dogs with them. The lunch was spoiled by the sound of panting dogs then the dogs drinking like a suction pump. We had a voucher that our daughter had purchased as a gift from the Inn for us. May be this is while we put in the entrance hall with the dogs. This spoiled the lunch which was for my wife’s birthday.

Nice place. Food ok. Waitress dressed in such a short skirt, that the tops of her tights were showing. So inappropriate. 10% service charge added on. Not acceptable, in my eyes.

Bit out of the way this establishment we were in trough of bowland and only called in for a coffee. Good service a bit oldie worldy but very nice. Not a lot of parking for size of place but would definitely go again.

The location is great, lovely countryside. The food is a bit average, last Sunday I had fish and chips, the the fish was very greasy and the chips were floppy and also very greasy, it was like the fryer was not hot enough and it was served without any tartar sauce, this is the bare minimum I would say in a place like this. Another thing, they don't have an espresso machine, so if you like a nice cup of coffee or espresso, this is clearly not the place to go. They only do filter coffee.....come on, we're in the 21st century.

This old traditional pub is lovely. I had lunch there. I really only wanted a soup and sandwich but they don't do sandwiches for visitors only residents which is disappointing. It was very busy and the food was tasty. Typical rural prices. Disabled toilet. Parking.

After wanting to visit The Inn At Whitewell for some time, I decided to book for today (Good Friday) .. So glad we did! Lovely venue, beautiful location, delicious food. We both ate the same (which is rare) we got the soup of the day which was cream of Butternut squash with toasted pine nuts, then we chose the fish pie (with it being Good Friday) with a side of chips and sugar snap peas. The service was perfect, we had a lovely girl who’s first day it was serving! Afterwards we decided to sit outside overlooking the river to finish our drinks! It was very busy, so booking is a must, also there was alot of parking but with it being so busy, we did struggle. All in all, if you’re thinking of visiting, do so! You won’t be disappointed!

A disappointing stay at the I of WW for my husbands retirement treat! Standards have sadly slipped since we last stayed. Upon arriving, we were greeted by a surly receptionist who directed us to our room, not managing to show us nor offer help with our luggage but just issued us with a key. We chose a front room with a fire whose view was impaired by the scaffolding directly outside the wndow. Not what you expect for £200 a night. Whilst dining, the atmosphere and ambiance in the bar - dining area was marred by the unpalatable lamb which was rather dry, bland and far from lean. Upon complaining to the waitress, who was inapproprately dressed in gym attire, I was told that lamb can be fatty! And that was that! My husbands fish and chips were a better choice. The only saving grace was the excellent , friendly service from the very lovely, young man who lit our bedroom peat fire. Sadly, a disappointing stay. The mediocre food and rudeness of the gym attired staff does not warrant a return visit.

Just finished a long weekend touring the lake District.Without a doubt The Inn at Whitewell was the best hotel we stayed in. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help you. The ambiance is rustic with wonderful log fires, even to the point that if you wish they will light a fire in your room before bed.. absolute bliss. We had dinner which was excellent, with a very good wine list, a well stocked bar and excellent selection of local and international beers.Breakfast was also excellent. We were also lucky to have rooms that faced the snow capped hills and river running past, absolutely amazing, certainly got the wow factor. We love the lake district and will use The Inn at Whitewell as our base for future visits..

Disappointing experience. Two of us ordered the vegetarian roast option which we were informed would include extra veg and/or cauliflower cheese in place of the meat. Not great, but, if the rest of the roast is nice, it's fine I thought. Food came, an extra Yorkshire and the watery cauliflower cheese meant we weren't starving. Nice dessert, no real complaints at this point. Paying we noticed the bill had the cheese and the yorkshire as extras to pay. Asking a member of staff we were informed it wasn't a mistake and that we had been given extra veg. We hadn't and the stubborn manner in which the discussion dragged out made us feel uncomfortable and embarrassed. Though the majority of the staff were great at their jobs and the pub is a nice space, I won't be rushing back to fork out 19.50 for a carrot, a chunk of beetroot, half a cup of mash, 2 roasties, a Yorkshire pudding and 3 small pieces of tenderstem broccoli. Oh...and if you're thinking this must be one of those less is more/quality over quantity approaches, it really wasn't.

A very tastefully decorated wine bar with some seating outside. We just had drinks so cannot comment on the food. We were warmly greated when we walked in and was offered tables inside or outside. A large wine menu, as expected. Would definitely like to try the food next time.
