Great service, great beer and great atmosphere.

Only about 7 beers on draught, but a good selection

Popped in for a quick pint before Dave Gorman at the Town Hall. Very friendly and nice beers selection. One of those great little pubs where there is always someone to talk to. ❤️ Back in on Easter Thursday. Had a great chat with the owner and a traveller from Norway who was a Football Ground Hopper. Updated rating to 5 🌟.

Argyle on tour!! Up early to catch the 0527 train from Plymouth. Just beaten the Boro and found this lovely pub. Liz and "Antoine" were super hosts. Talked to 4 lovely Boro fans for a couple of hours and drank an Amber ale called Nethergate Venture.... Such a friendly pub with probably the weirdest name. Relates to the youngest miner to go down the Pits? I think....!! Anyway brilliant.....loved this wonderful day...

Very nice real ale beer and very good atmosphere

My dad and I planned on having a quick drink here before dinner. Ended up staying the whole night. Had a great chat with Sean, who was working the bar, and the local beers available were great. Everyone who came in was happy to chat or just enjoy their drinks without causing problems. A friendly, welcoming pub that I'll absolutely come to again whenever I'm back in boro.

I was going to the business next door. Last time I left my wheelchair at the bottom of the stairs & spent most of my time, worrying it would go missing. Today, I don't know if it was the owners or managers of this micropub, but they kindly offered to put my wheelchair in their business & watch it for me. Seriously, never met such nice people. If I lived in Mbro & was looking for a pub to go to, I would definitely go here. They were so welcoming & friendly & the pub looked amazing. If you read this, I can't thank you enough ❤

Great little pub. Four good cask ales, plus a couple of lagers on tap. Nice outside area for those few sunny days of the year. I'll definitely be back.

We found this amazing place by accident, and what a discovery. If you are seeking an intimate, friendly place to enjoy a relaxing drink then this is the place for you. No loud music, so conversation is easy, the landlady is very informative about Middlesborough( it was our 1st visit to the town) and happy to explain the name of the pub. Visit the wc's to see the artwork, and learn about the local artist, take in the great photos of the Transporter Bridge and work out the poetry. All in all we enjoyed our 2 visits to The Infant Hercules and would certainly recommend it to both visitors and locals.

Absolutely fantastic bar/pub. A wonderful welcome from the lovely owner Liz who’s beers and selections of spirits especially the gins was second to none. The regulars on the 2 nights we visited were friendly and welcoming. We were visiting Coventry City supporters and had the chance to return a week later for another game against The Boro but couldn’t due to other commitments. Our loss. Wonderful town centre micropub, excellent choice of local real ales, good atmosphere, friendly and helpful proprietors. Small outside seating area at the front. An oasis in an environment which now seems to have few pleasant pubs.

Wandered in here for a pint when England were playing footie. The place was packed, but friendly customers and landlord squeezed two of us in and couldn't have been more hospitable - I've not ordered two more pints from the back of a pub before! Beer brilliant too.

Popped in for a couple of drinks post Oktoberfest. Pub is tucked away, with a really nice atmosphere and very welcoming hosts. Excellent selection for a small place, spot on prices, and inside is a reminder of all good things of Teesside. Definitely worth a visit, cheers Liz and Neil for looking after us!

Really lovely little real ale micro pub in the centre of town. They have 4 guest ales with a pilsner and cider on tap. Plus a range of bottled beers, wines and spirits. The staff and patrons are very friendly and make you feel at home. You can usually start up a chat with anyone in there.

Went here before a gig at the Empire (3-4 mins walk). Really friendly and welcoming. A few cask beers on. Thornbridge Astryd was quality.

Welcoming small pub with friendly staff behind the bar. Has a small outside seating area too. Had four cask ales on and a couple of keg lines including a cider. The beer choice was what I would class as real ale rather than craft beer from top class breweries. It was well kept though. Toilets surprisingly quaint too!

Lovely little pub in the town centre only a short walk from the railway station. Excellent selection of ales to suit all tastes. Ambient background music. Exactly what a micropub should be like. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Definitely worth another visit next time I'm in the area.

The Livi Hibs Real Ale Society (West Brom sub division) was made welcome by this barry wee pub. Great beer (& prices) and good chat with the regulars.

Stayed in Middlesbrough as a base and searched real ale pubs. This gem is just around the corner from holiday inn express, where we were staying. Super micro pub. Really friendly welcome from the moment we walked in the door. Great selection of well kept ales, ciders and gins. Very knowledgeable owners who will suggest ales and gins based on your tastes and will spend time with you making you feel welcome. Liz and Neil are wonderful hosts. Small friendly micro brewery real ale pub. As you would expect, great variety of excellent ales. Camra affiliated, with another 4 or 5 such pubs in the area. Keep your eyes peeled as small frontage so easy to miss! Excellent!

Stunning gem of a micropub. Popped in on a whim and absolutely loved it. A great selection of gins, ales and some delicious ciders! Had some wonderful convos with the owner who is friendly in the typical Boro way! Will definitely be dropping in whenever we're in town in future!

An excellent micro pub, from the outside it looks like a shop but once inside the bar staff are friendly and know their beers. A couple of pumps on with some nice real ale. Also an extensive gin menu which maybe tried on another visit.

Serves a good range of local real ales. The pub itself is a museum of local information with a landlord who loves a good chat.

Went here as part of a Christmas Eve bender with a few friends. This was the last pub I made it to. Sensibly, the bar staff suggested I have a glass of water and ice and when I knocked it all over the place like the drunken mess I was they cleaned it up without a fuss or kicking me out and got me some more water and ice. Given that I was at work today at 8am it's no exaggeration to say they might have saved my job. Thanks guys.

A very cosy place however Bar Staff a little too arrogant about how many awards they have won in the past for my liking. Also very much based on "real ale" genre.

A quaint micro pub that sells a good range of ales and ciders along with some tasty snacks that go well with a pint. The atmosphere is friendly and warm although when 20 or more in it feels cramped.
