I've updated my review and deleted my old one, as I now regularly visit so get a better insight. Food is tasty with a good selection. Staff are always welcoming and happy to help. The pub is clean, and has a homely feeling to it especially when the log fire is on.

Everyone was nice and it was a decent atmosphere in there, though the food wasn't the best. Ordered a meat pizza and a lamb burger with chips. Pizza tasted perfectly fine - There was just too much cheese in comparison to how ultra-thin the base was, the dough wasn't entirely cooked through in the middle, and picking up a slice with your hands just wasn't going to happen. The lamb burger was sooo bland it's hard to describe, it was like... Burger: with 'essence of lamb' 😂 ... Like when you finish a bottle of cordial and want to use it for water but can still taste the cordial residue, even after rinsing 😂. Chips were alright. I'll still give 3 stars (based on the food aspect alone), though, because I can't really complain too much considering I got all that and 2 bottles of 0% lager for less than £30. Could have just been and off day. The roast dinner did look good, though, so that might be the one to try! Just stay away from the 'essence of lamb' cordial burger.

Been for food in the past and it’s pretty good, but decided to go for a couple of drinks one Saturday afternoon just me and my wife, we used to go drinking here loads in the 90s and haven’t been back since then just for drinks, so thought it would be good, but unfortunately after just starting our second drink we was told that the table in the bar area would be needed in an hour, totally shocked because it advertises itself as bar and dining, I’ve never been told to move in any bar before, it’s definitely gone downhill since the 90s,if you just want a pub afternoon this isn’t the venue unfortunately, it’s not a bar it’s just a restaurant these days.top tip, change your signage.

Visited a few times with family over the years and finally managed to make it to the quiz last week. The pub has a great atmosphere, with extremely good food. Many thanks

Hot stake sandwich God Awful soggy bread caramelised onion chutney not caramelised onion stake inside was minimal at best and ridiculously dry just rubbish tbh. Chips could not knock them but they are chips. The Mrs enjoyed her food so it's not all doom I guess. Worse part is they asked others how is your meal etc never came to our table as they could likely see it had not been touched and could not be assed to sort it unfortunately will not be visting again or atleast for food

Came for a birthday meal, the food was absolutely amazing and well priced! Tables were lovely and clean and staff were very nice!

Fantastic food never had a bad meal ! Service could be improved been 4 times now and each time the servers haven't been very attentive and come across as slightly rude. But great pub and always a top meal.

Excellent food, will be coming back

We visited as a group of 8 and cannot fault a thing. We were seated in a warm snug, served quickly and everything arrived exactly as requested even though we amended items and asked for different things to come out at different times. Amazing value for money. Will absolutely visit again! Highly recommend the chipolatas, patatas bravas/aioli, chicken skewer and garlic breads! Thank you! Xo

The Christmas singalong is a night not to be missed. Friday night before Christmas....the brass band is excellent and gets the festivities off to an brilliant start!

Amazing food I forgot to ask for dairy free and gluten free due to ibs and they changed my seabass to be without the sauce last minute with no hassel and it was delicious could eat it every day staff where amazing well 😋

We used to love this pub, but in the last year or so it’s gone down hill with the food & mostly the service, but I went today just me and my little girl for a bit of lunch, the soup had plastic in a big piece I may add, which the staff just said “sorry it’s a bit of the container it was warmed up in I’ve knocked it off your bill” like plastic in your soup was completely normal and the bread was stale. Kids sausage and mash, the sausage was burnt and my child couldn’t even chew it enough to swallow it as the skin was that tough, her beans were cold and her mash well she refused to eat it, so I tried it myself it was just plain lumps tasteless and my child eat everything I’m glad I ordered a garlic bread with cheese which again came burnt on the sides but was edible. I paid for my food and left, we will not return and that’s a shame as we’ve brought people from all over to this pub for food as it was outstanding at one point couldn’t fault the place for food or service.

First time eating here. Food arrived well presented and hot. Good quality food at a reasonable price.

Review edited from 5 stars to 2. They've changed things now and their gluten free options are NOT cooked separately to regular foods now which poses a serious risk for Coeliacs despite being labelled on the menu!!!! Not much choice now they've changed so wouldn't recommend unless things change.

Found this place by accident. Food lovely. Definitely worth a visit

Varied menu, salads, burger, dirty fries to name a few plus a few vegan options. Staff were lovely and attentive.

Delicious food. Lamb kofta was amazing. Very friendly staff who were happy to accommodate our dog. Reasonably priced.

Me and the misses went for some food on our anniversary. Best fish and gammon we've had, only thing that lets it down is being too close to main road other than that. Faultless, highly recommended

Went here for Monday night tea and the food was incredible. Staff were really lovely and helpful and it's a lovely cosy place to eat. Will be back again for sure!

Lovely pub, enjoyed sitting outside with a pint

Popular pub with a great atmosphere and a good menu, which includes a good range of vegan options. Service was okay, but as the designated driver, I was on spring water and my first drink just came in a glass, with the no bottle to show what it was or where it came from. My second drink came with the bottle so was much more reassuring. Service was okay, but two ice creams were ordered for dessert by the non-vegans and they failed to materialise, which spoilt the end of our meal.

All meals were good. The very hot pizza was a bit light on toppings and a bit too wet as a result of all the sauce.

Went out with the girls last night and enjoyed a veritable feast. Lots of food arrived hot, fresh and really tasty. The girls working were and helpful and kind. Will definitely be back, well played guys!

Had a beautiful meal here tonight. Homemade chips were excellent and the batter on the large fish was really light - all fish!!. Service staff were great, friendly and attentive. Cant fault it, keep up the great work guys. 👍

I went for food and to celebrate and I was not disappointed. The food was fantastic, and the atmosphere in the pub was chilled, friendly, relaxed and fun. There's a good choice of beer/ale available and service is quick and super friendly. This is an amazing place and I will most definitely be visiting again.

Visited on a Monday evening as a last minute decision to eat out. Lovely friendly staff, great service and fresh hot food. Pizza was excellent and Lamb burger was also delicious. Prices very reasonable.

Been here a few times now and the food never disappoints. Today as always, it was beautiful. We had the steak and ale suet pudding and a meaty pizza. Only negative feedback I have is one of the waitresses had a really bad habit of sticking her fingers in her mouth, and wiping her nose on her hand then serving drinks or food without washing her hands first. She needs some hygiene training!

Very pleasant, Pub grub, not too expensive and not too shabby either.

Another family meal. Food as always spot on, battered fish and chips £12.95 great size, burgers, stake pudding, gammon with pineapple, 11 of us in all, oldies on small meals as we all know as you get older you eat less, Lol, all enjoyed there meal and drinks, service polite and friendly. Great prices except for pudding £5.50 I think is a little high but you don't need to have pudding, Keep up the great work highly recommend Already coming back on 18 June after 4 weeks in Ukraine for another family meal Meal 3. Had to remove 2 stars due to us overheating as it became uncomfortable plus layout was bad you had to get everyone to move out to go to the loo Windows don't open and in the heatwave we were all dripping needs air con or the windows sorting (front of building)

Food good service good price good

Visited Thursday teatime sat outside in the sun in the lovely outside area. The food service was great efficient and polite. The food quality was great presentation excellent and large portions. Menu choices plentiful something for everyone. Best pub meal I’ve had in a long time will definitely be back.

Reserved a table for a family meal, when we arrived we were shown to our table, there was already a high chair for our youngest one, the waitress waited for us all to sit at our table, then took all our drinks, on return with our drinks, took our food order, food arrived promptly and was excellent, great service. This was our first visit for a while, did not disappoint.

Upon entry we was told to find a table and we would be seen. Immediately we were given menu’s - after waiting 15 minutes with no service I went to the bar to enquire about ordering where I was told one of the staff would be over to take our order. After waiting another 10 min with no service we walked out.

Excellent food. Staff very friendly. Brill atmosphere. Will be going back.

Had a meal with friends here 18/11/22 , everything was in order, menu is a bit limited but what I had was good, cooked well and arrived in a timely fashion.

We went for lunch, it was quite quiet. Reasonable meal selection, some good beers. The service was good with a welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. All at a reasonable price.

Bit pricey but overall really good food, great service and good environment!

Went earlier for a couple after work, once again as summer starts you’re not allowed to sit in the bar area as every table is reserved. I’d understand if the restaurant area was reserved but not the bar. It’ll be like this all summer too. Also, the menu hasn’t changed for at least 8-12 months. We’ll go again after summer has finished and it’s possible just to sit and have a few pints.
