The Hup Lee Buffet Restaurant in North Lanarkshire

I am not generally a fan of Chinese buffet restaurants but this place is so busy the food is constantly being replenished so food is as fresh as table service. Food is good quality with a wide selection. Staff are attentive. Toilets clean. Plenty of parking including overflow behind the building. Venue is great for large groups. On my latest visit it was my granddaughter's birthday and staff were only too happy to bring out here birthday cake while playing, "happy birthday" over the sound system. Made my granddaughter's day!

Great food and service. Worth the journey to get there.

I went here over the weekend with my wife and wee boy after it was recommended to me. It was a 30 mins drive for us but I'm glad we made the effort as it's comfortably the best chinese buffet i have had. The options were more varied than other places i have been to and the quality of the food/sauces etc were really impressive. My wee boy is nearly 3 so can be fussy like most kids that age but there were plenty of options for him to try as well. He had chips, onion rings, prawn crackers/toast, chicken nuggets, tuna pasta etc and he was in heaven when he seen the chocolate fountain. The desserts were a lot better than most buffets as well and again the quality was much better with the chocolate profiteroles being my favourite. The staff were really attentive as they were up straight away as soon as we had finished a plate and told us to go and get another when we were ready. I will definitely be back and i will also be recommending this place to people i know as the food was fresh, tasty and always topped up.

Great choice of Chinese buffet food. Room is rather 'canteen like', but service is first class (quick and polite). Best to go when you're hungry (!). They have a really good 'no waste' policy.

This place is a complete rip off. If you have avg height pre teens you'll be charged full adult prices, and to be honest the food isnt even that great. I hope a 1.49m horizontally challenged child puts this mob out off business

Food was pretty standard tailored for the local people. I would have likes to have tried chicken feet and porridge and better use of spices and herbs to add some flavour and spice. Some healthier options available. Good value. Friendly staff. Cash only though.

Went with my two sons for an evening meal, plenty of choices for starter's and mains food was hot and freshly cooked in small batches 3 full meals plus drinks £83.00

The service is consistently courteous. The food is fresh and varied.

A bit over price compared to what it used to be. Food was OK. Waiting staff to quick to clear plates, especially when you were not finished. This happened twice. Staff standing around the bar area watching you eat, (6 of them). A little off putting.

The food was fantastic, there was a large selection of dishes to choose from and were all very fresh. The smoothies were amazing also. Service was great and all the staff were very friendly. Fantastic value for money. Will definitely be going again and highly recommend.

I wish it was closer to where I live food was hot and fresh absolutely beautiful so was service atmosphere was pleasant and friendly only problem it is to far from where I live but I go at least once a month ( put it this way if it was near me all other restaurants would close it's that good 👍

Place has become a ripppppppoffffff £58 fr 2 adults that's 1 pint shandy 2 iron brews plates are like tea plates ud have to do 10 visits to eat that amount it that they charge u for and the selection has gon downhill drastically won't go back wouldn't recommend

We had booked one of the karaoke rooms for a group. On arrival got told both karaoke machines were broken so just got tables in thd main restaurant. Asked why we could not get the room we had booked even without the karaoke just got told there were people in it and couldn't get the room. If we had been told beforehand we would have cancelled as it was for a special event maybe the reason they didn't tell us. The food was mediocre and won't be returning.

We want for a family lunch and a lot of the hot plates were empty with main courses & deserts unavailable. Also staff were hovering around tables and were lifting your plates as soon as you took your last bite, a couple of times mu son hadn't even finished and they were lifting his plate. Yes be quick at clearing up but dont bloody stand around watching people eat. Will definitely not be back

Decent food for a buffet all you can eat type place, been twice now and can not complain

Needed music, the food was okay, the service was pretty good(hard working staff) it was just very expensive for what it was. Then, to add £5 for each wasted plate of food on top of that, i thought it was pretty cheeky.

The meal was excellent but at the end when we were eating our sweet we were railroaded out because of a a party of 24 and they needed to space it wasted the experience for me

Great choice of food, lovely and attentive staff who made us all very welcome and a good atmosphere. We will definitely be back. If I have a complaint it’s the prices charged for children and the fact they even charge for very small children in high chairs!

So came back to Glasgow to visit family & friends. Nipped in here for a bite to eat with some friends food was lovely & a nice veriety Service was great aswell will deffo nip in here next week with the wife before we head back home.

Always good food at a reasonable price

Havent been for over a year as was getting expensive but decided to go as a treat ! £16.90 per adult is rather expensive . On arrival , a note on the door saying Cash Only ! I checked inside and was told cash only. Im sure their cash machine was "broken " a year ago too ! . I'm not local so a nuisance to find a Cash Machine . I found a very limited selection for hot starters.( ,hash browns, chips, thin pancake rolls, breaded mushrooms). Mains consisted of mainly chicken dishes, mostly with chilli, 2 beef dishes with tiny pieces of meat and 1 pork dish. Everything looked the same and non of my selected dishes had much flavour . It felt like budget food with inflated price . I know its a buffett but I laughed out loud at the tiny bowl used for soup and the very small,main course plates! Was actually quite hard to get much on the plate ! Sign says a charge for wasting food . The noodles were good and the cream of chicken soup was quite hot but not a lot of chicken in it . I've been to better buffet which are cheaper . Staff not very friendly .

Great location with off-road parking at the rear of the restaurant. All the food was tasty and fresh, and the food trays were regularly filled. Prices are reasonable. Buy pints of juice rather than cans works out a lot cheaper.

i love chinese buffet and this is my fav i travel from manchester to hamilton to visit my dad and he always brings us here ,we are coming on 29th feb and cant wait always look forward to my visit here.....

Best Chinese buffet in Scotland

Can't go wrong with Hup Lee Chinese Buffet. Been coming here for over 10 years and now I've moved out of the area, still like to travel back for a Hup Lee! Buffets are best in the evening but still a really good selection for lunch.

Foods decent, plenty choice of it. Rapid plate clearing by the workers. Plenty space between tables, don't feel like you are sat with random customers when eating. I did feel it was slightly overpriced compared to others.

The best Chinese buffet in Scotland I'd say. Child friendly. Staff customer focused, extremely welcoming and efficient. Plenty parking spaces to the rear of the restaurant.

The starter are great the main course not grate the price is expensive for what it is the price of soft drinks is just ridiculous 3 pounds for a can of coke is just ripping pepole off

It's a buffet but a good one. The choice and quality of the food is excellent and they even have a chocolate fountain. It just lacks a bit of ambience and decor but I can't fault the service or the food.

When I lived in Motherwell, the Hup Lee Buffet Restaurant was a great place to go to with friends for a catch up, I liked the range of food they had to accomondate everyone. The chicken satay was delicious and I thought it was good value. There are times however when there are dirty plates but the staff are always quick to get them replaced as soon as they can.

Great quality Chinese buffet. All the dishes you would expect and want. Not too expensive . Good choice if your Lee Marvin 👍🏻

Great lunch , value and service , as expected for price and lunchtime there was great selection , topped up with fresh food often and although busy was a nice atmosphere , staff were all lovely , attentive and helpful. Had heard great things and a bit worried after reading recent reviews No news was lovely

the food here is good but it is very expensive i was way over £150 for 3 soft drinks and 3 plates for my family and we didn’t even go up for seconds

I’m really unhappy with my recent experience at Hup Lee in Motherwell! We decided to try and take our 2 & 3 year olds knowing the were potentially not going to eat very much but we done our research and it said online that an infant costs £5 for the lunch menu. When we got the bill they charged my 3 year old (who is too big for a high chair) £8. He ate a chicken nugget, a prawn cracker and less than a scoop of ice cream. When I questioned this they said it’s their price for not in a high chair! How is it fair that if your child is small for his age and can fit a high chair they get £3 off the few bits of food they actually eat. I won’t be back. Absolute rip off!

I go here at least once a month with my daughter and 15 month old granddaughter and always loved it. However this time they decided to charge me £6 for my granddaughter who had her dinner before we went as she is too young to eat Chinese food! I argued the bill stating her age and the fact she literally had a couple of her mums chips, stole a prawn cracker from her mums plate, and had 2 or 3 spoonfuls of her mums ice cream. But he argued back stating the baby still ate food and therefore the £6 stands. I paid my bill and let him know I will never return. Can’t believe they expect you to pay for a baby at a Chinese restaurant. I will never go back again.

Typical Chinese buffet with lots of choices. Some things better than others but enough variety so all could be satisfied

Having heard the fantastic reviews I was excited to try this buffet. On arrival was told it was cash only so as I'm not from the area I had to walk to the cash point in the town. Was very disappointed with the selection. No seafood dishes because it was lunchtime and very limited starters - no chicken satay. Chocolate fountain was also not allowed as it was lunchtime. I would not return. Beijing Banquet is still No1 buffet in Scotland , it's cheaper and has a wide variety of dishes for everyone including seafood at lunchtime.

Cash only so that was a hassle. Have been to much bigger buffets for less money and not the biggest choices sadly. No sushi, satay skewers, dumplings or fish at lunch for 17 quid a head? Beijing banquet in renfrew is still my favourite. Wouldnt rush back.

Good atmosphere, fairly clean food is tasty.

Food was excellent and staff very friendly but I felt there was a lack of choice compared to other Chinese buffets I’d been to, especially the lack of desserts for the price we paid. Tables looked a bit tired and the whole place felt like it hadn’t been refurbished for years.

Great value if you can fill your stomach to capacity, food was really good with loads of various dishes, can't fault the food at all, the place was very busy so make sure to book it before you arrive at the door.

Always brilliant every time we’re there. It’s my mum’s favourite and we go a couple of times a month as the food is always so nice. Plenty of room and normally no need to book and the staff are always very nice.

Fantastic great selection and very very tasty. Definitely going back. Back for our second visit. Same great food same great service. However some perants need to control their out of control children. One bloody nuisance was running round all over the place. People with hot drinks and food moving around. While the mother, who was probably a trainee corps and big fat father with a top knot just sat there. Bloody gormless the pair of them. So come on staff step in if the stupid undisciplined off spring can't behave tell then behave of eff off out and don't come back.
