The Howgait in Glasgow City

The food was average at best and we were badly served by a young blonde lady. I lived locally a few years ago when it was called The Lee and it was a good lovely wee pub back then.

No bad but plastic cups turns you away

The food was a disappointment. Cold, nothing like the description. The nacho chicken burger had no nachos and no cheese sauce. The kebab garlic bread was disgustingly poor, looked like tinned dog food. No service at all. I would stay away from this place.

This was my first time in the howgait and it was very friendly between bar staff and customers. I was also in on the Sunday that Jake is talking about and the music didn't seem that loud to my husband and I maybe the speakers were to close to where he was sitting 😳 Great food also especially the Bombay chicken wings 💯👌 I asked for takeaway but didn't provide that service which I can't believe why as your right next to students blocks 🤔 Al be back soon 💯🍻

Great place with reasonable prices. Wonderful ham croquetas, we ordered them three times! The outdoor space is great and the atmosphere was just lovely.

Cozy place in a nice location. Music nice and at the same time not too loud. Good balance in the age of customers, with people ranging from early 20s to early 50s. Plus they show sports. What more can I say!?

What a pub, great atmosphere and cheap drinks for students. Went on a Monday night and took part in the pub quiz which was great. The quizmaster came across as very charming and was also a great looking bloke. Will be returning! Connor also made an unbelievable meal, a good steak for a reasonable price! Rob was solid as per. Also great beer garden for those sunny glasgow days!

This is a great pub, very welcoming staff. Courtney, the bar person was a wee gem with a smile that lit up a gloomy Glasgow day. If yer visiting someone in The Royal and need a good pint to take the edge off then this is the place to go

Music is FAR too loud, it’s alright to have something on for a bit of atmosphere but when you have to lean over the table and shout in your mates ear it’s too far. Seems the order has come from the top and staff can’t change it. If you’re a student pricing is great mon-thu but it’s risen a lot for your average punter over last couple years. Service and staff are both excellent though

Great wee pub, my family & I are always in and have been coming for years. All the staff are brilliant especially Fiona who is just the best!!! Unfortunately though Adam (I think his name is) needs some training in how to speak to customers. Came today (18/3/25) for breakfast (there would have been 9 of us) but first had to deliver parcels at the Evri locker adjoining the building. Couldn’t get parked as there was a delivery lorry there. Quickly parked up on the pavement within the car park and Adam came out shouting that I couldn’t park there and that the car park was for customers only. A really rude and dismissive attitude. I also have a parking disabled badge. I told him I was using the locker but he ignored me and walked away so didn’t get the chance to tell him we actually were customers! I drove out to park elsewhere until the lorry left but Adam shut the car parking gate after we drove out. Really odd behaviour and put us off coming in. Me and my family ended up going elsewhere for breakfast and deliver parcels.

Came for the pub quiz, Ross Fiona and Courtney were amazing.

Cheap pints for students (but you need the mixr app) and good deals on food, though the staff can be a little impatient from time to time. I am being bribed with bonus points by Ross (pub quiz)

Had an amazing night out here recently. Ross and Zoe took proper care of us, great service from both. Food was brilliant, asked the staff and it was Aiden making the meals for us. Can't recommend more!

Went last night for work’s Christmas dinner. Slight mix up with booking and weren’t actually booked for the Christmas menu but the staff were amazing and went above and beyond to try and remedy this. Needless to say we got our Christmas meal which was delicious. Again can’t say enough but definitely worth a visit

Brought my family out for a meal and absolutely loved it. Very welcoming and pleasant staff. It was a very friendly atmosphere inside which made it a very enjoyable experience. Will defiantly be coming here again

Definitely wouldn't go back foe food the length of wait was terrible at least an hour between starter and main on food that was pre ordered a few month ago not blaming the girl serving she was on her own running about like a headless chicken trying to serve everyone all by herself shocking service knowing there would be a whole load of ppl there

Really enjoyed pub quiz on Monday night with Robert hosting, questions were great and fun atmosphere. Received great drinks service from Courtney and Aiden in the kitchen made us a very tasty cheesecake. Will definitely be back!

Fantastic night revisiting The Howgait tonight. Courtney and Ross provided stellar service and a mean pint of Guinness. Aidan in the kitchen served up a tasty honeycomb cheesecake. Was in for the quiz tonight. Wasn't aware it's now a quid per person but doesn't put us off coming back when the service is so great.

The Howgait is a great pub, especially for students with a wide range of deals. Bartenders Angus and Michael were lovely tonight, and James from the kitchen made a spectacular vegan burger!

Had a fantastic time at the quiz on Monday night. Thank you to Angus, James, Michael and Ross who all were served us and were very accommodating.

Had a brilliant night here on Saturday. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially when catering to my gluten free, vegan dog(wee David).Highly recommend

This is a great wee place! It has a great wee community of both locals and students alike.

Good vibes day and night. Lots of seats inside or outside. Staff attentive.

Popped in today, 1st time here for lunch and drinks. Staff are great, food ordered and served quickly. Mac n cheese + garlic bread, chicken goujons, fries and drinks all good and excellent value. Recommended. Will be in again on our next visit in town.

Visited on Wednesday for lunch the bar staff were lovely and friendly but the food was terrible. At one point, I saw the girl in the kitchen picking her nose and then carrying on cooking, which really put me off my lunch. Seems like a nice place for a drink but would avoid the food till their staff get some training on hygiene.

Staff was friendly. You order at the bar and they bring it to your table. They were out of fish and chips but we ordered alternatives that were good but not the best we’ve had. Drinks had good pours. Overall we really enjoyed it.

Over priced poor quality food took for ever to come when it did it was cold they eventually brought the onion rings and other side's buy the time our meal was over I cancelled my dessert as had to get back to work WASTE OF MONEY NEVER AGAIN you can tell the staff take no pride and don't care with the totally laid back attitude.
