Staff were accommodating to my invisible disability and were patient. The food was delicious. The non-meat options were different from the usual, and thought had been put into the menu. I had warmed mushrooms with mango chutney and goats cheese in a panini (that they helpfully served on 2 separate plates as we wanted to share) and then finished with the apple and gooseberry crumble with ice cream (no sharing this!) which was amazing. Nothing was on the menu as a side thought. Even the accompanying side to the panini was a warmed potato salad perfectly seasoned with fresh herbs and a perfectly dressed salad. It's obvious that a lot of thought has gone into every aspect. We were really pleased with our choice of cafe.

Visited during Easter weekend with my husband and toddler. Staff were great with our little one. Provided a booster seat and were happy to make a special kiddies brunch. I had the halloumi sandwich and my hubby the English breakfast. Good and coffees were delicious. Best thing about the cafe was definitely the atmosphere. Lovely staff and customers. Very kind and made us feel very welcome. We left with loads of tips for how to spend the rest of our trip including a local Easter egg hunt. It’s a very small venue so would definitely recommend booking - we managed to get the last available table.

On our return journey home to St Helens we were looking for somewhere to stop and have breakfast that catered for my wife who is coeliac and needs gluten-free options. Well this place is perfect, just 2 minutes off the A69, with parking at the rear or on the main road. It’s a quiet village so no problem parking. However you may need to book in advance as this place is popular, and no wonder. What made our visit all the more pleasant was the people, not just the staff, also the locals, especially Gladys and Nellie, and they were just two dogs on the next table (adorable Cocker-poo’s) their owners were equally as nice and have to mention Billy another lovely local guy. Anyway, we had two full breakfasts, my wife had gluten-free toast and sausage and have to say it was beautiful. There was also a selection of gluten-free cakes available (if you just wanted a cake and a brew after a walk), we decided to take two slice of the gluten-free lemon drizzle cake home in a box, which I’ve just finished and was equally as tasty. The perfect end to a great weekend (hello to the two lovely ladies we may see you camping one day) and thank you to all at the Hearth Cafe ❤️

Just had the most amazing Tuna sandwich with ginger and spring onion mayonnaise and rocket. I always stay clear of mayonnaise as it doesn’t agree with my gut but it sounded so tasty I thought I’d give it a try. So pleased I did, couldn’t taste any mayonnaise and had no tummy troubles. A group of us met here for lunch, following a morning’s walk in the Tyne Valley. We were impressed by the friendly and helpful service - we even got an umbrella for our table in the garden when the sun came out. The food was tasty, well presented and reasonably priced. The view from our table looking over the surrounding countryside made for a pleasant and relaxing occasion. This place deserves support and I hope it continues to thrive.

What a gem we have 'on our doorstep'. As the bigger restaurants, pubs and chains systematically reduce menu choice and increase prices, Jarvis and Allanna at The Hearth continue to create an ever greater variety of home-cooked food and a frequently-changing Specials menu. As non-meat eaters we have found since Covid that the 'hospitality industry' has become even less 'hospitable' to the likes of us, with lunchtime options often limited to an insulting 'fish finger sandwich' at an unacceptable price. Not here ! The Hearth menus beat them all in quality, variety and creativity- tje cailiflower and crleriac soup today was superb - and that's all before mentioning the standard of table service provided by the waiting staff. They're efficient, vigilant without being intrusive and refreshingly helpful and accommodating- compared with generally 'reluctant' service in many other venues. It's become the exception for the customer to feel valued in such places: no wonder so many have closed! Overall we are thankful to have such a great venue as The Hearth only a couple of villages away from our home run by community-minded people who remarkably found ways to continue to provide food to their immediate community throughout the whole of Covid lockdowns and restrictions. We heartily recommend The Hearth café for the food and service we enjoy there. We also hope Alanna, Jarvis and their team will get your customer support for the experience they continue to offer in this beautiful rural setting whether you're passing for the first time through Hadrian's Wall country, or just indulging in a treat with a friend. Good interesting home cooked food is a rarity! ENJOY!

I’d passed by this place many times and hardly noticed it, but de iced it was a nice sunny day for a run out, and decided to visit for a coffe and cake. The menu was tempting however, so I decided on eggs benedict with Salmon and spinach, and it’s only just occurred to me that there was no salmon!...This could be due to a misunderstanding however, as there were one or two variants...and I didn’t like to say but the eggs were both undercooked. I was hoping the second egg was spot on but no excessively runny whites everywhere. My wife had the duck hoisin panini which I tasted and it was really tasty, and plenty of it. One touch I really appreciate was being advised that the young lady who attended our table was new, and learning the job. I like to know....The place is cosy and atmospheric, with a variety of artwork and prints on display. My other niggle is I don’t like tables sprayed and cleaned whilst I’m eating...it could have waited...but the staff were thorough, and extremely welcoming and pleasant.

The Hearth arts centre is a lovely place to visit the artists in their studios, but unfortunately the cafe lets the place down. I've been here a few times (because of the art studios), so I'm used to there never being enough seating, and having to queue in the corridor for someone to leave, and I'm also quite used to the overpriced but under-impressive fare (top tip: NEVER pay for a Sunday lunch here; it looks nice, but that's all it has to recommend it!). However this weekend the cafe experience was so dreadful I just felt I had to write this review, so that people are aware of what they're letting themselves in for. As usual, we had to queue in the tiny corridor waiting for a seat. We were seated ahead of a larger group of visitors, who had waited much longer, but who couldn't be crammed onto the table already being shared by two separate groups of people, because one of the groups had a dog. It wasn't actually sitting in the spare seat they could have occupied, just making a nuisance of itself, so the seat could not be used. The dog became excited when the old lady sitting closest to it was served her food, barking loudly - presumably anticipating getting fed - making the poor woman almost jump out of her skin. She was clearly shaken, and kept saying how he'd been given such a fight. The dog continued to bark for the next ten to fifteen minutes or so, it's owners completely oblivious to the nuisance this was causing to other diners. It is quite possible that the food was better than it seemed, but it particularly pleasant eating with the smell of wet dog in your nose. When the owners (and dog) eventually left, we asked the waitress why there was a dog in a food establishment. She replied "we're dog friendly". I asked "even if the dog isn't friendly?", her response was that the barking wasn't aggressive. It frightened an elderly woman, and annoyed everyone else, but it seems as long as it doesn't look like it's going to attack you, that's perfectly ok. Really?? There is an outdoor seating area. It would be far more considerate towards the vast majority of non-dog-toting customers if dogs could be seated outdoors.

We visited here midweek, the disabled parking is very tight and up hill. The doors at the rear where very heavy and needed an extra pair of hands from a member of staff to negotiate them. The disabled toilet with the baby changing area in was very small, needed to move waste bins in the toilet to get out. I am in a wheelchair and came with a friend. The café is split into two rooms each room has quite large tables, not easy to move around in. We both ordered the fruit scones with Tiptree jam we opted to have them warmed. We both had expectations of loveliness unfortunately they fell below par, very hard and not very nice at all. It was busy, but people that didn't know each other had to sit on the same table, others came and left as people didn't feel comfortable with this. May be have more smaller tables for easy access and people that prefer a smaller intimate space.

We had a wonderful morning eating a delicious breakfast, two ordering the full breakfast and one the porridge with fruit with great coffee, and then being allowed into an artist's studio. The standard of work there is extremely high and we were thrilled to spend time there.

Called here for a light lunch after a visit to Wallington. The cafe is "cosy" (ie not much space) but clean and comfortable. My son and I both chose the lemson sole goujon sandwiches. They came with crisps and a proper salad. Just right. Tea and coffe were also good. Its not the cheapest - but still good value.

Popped in for breakfast on a Sunday morning and I always get the feeling here that I've dropped in to a friend's house. Staff are really friendly and welcoming and the food is excellent. I usually go for poached eggs on toast - which are always perfect - but I decided on the full English today and it didn't disappoint.

This is a delightful old building with lots of quaint features and a very welcome log burner! We opted for the soups with warm cheese scones - absolutely delicious! Cake followed and was also yummy. The staff were very helpful and polite. All in all, a great experience!

I went to collect cards from Rebecca Vincent in The Hearth Art Centre at Horsley near Hadrian's Wall, (Do go and see these gifted artists and support them.) We happened upon the attached "Cafe" which was buzzing and decided to stay for lunch. A beautiful lady attended to our food requirements from an eclectic menu for such an "out of the way" venue. I had eggs benedict which were exquisitely cooked and served with a lovely fresh salad. We sat outside and watched the world and aeroplanes go by on a gorgeous sunny Friday 7th October. Don't pass by, you will miss a hidden gem.

Seen this cafe in a magazine and thought while in the area would visit. First impressions were good and friendly staff. If I had to be picky I would say my latte was not the greatest and the table was sticky. Food ok.

Had a good Sunday lunch here, but have to say we thought the meat was a little on the tough side. The vegetables were lovely and the gravy was to die for. Our rhubarb crumble was lovely too. The staff were very friendly and we shall give it another try.

This licenced cafe is attached to The Hearth arts centre, so when you're full you can go shopping in the studios. The food is locally sourced and home cooked - they even grow their own herbs. Staff are always friendly and service is swift. There's a sunny garden and dogs are welcome. Just off the A69 and the best scones in the North East! They also provide evening meals for Music Nights, monthly on Fridays.

The postal address had a Morpeth post town, even though it is close to Amble. Finding it with the aid of a satnav was essential. A lovely sunny day and the field out front was very busy. All sorts were there, a food concession was selling pizza. The beer was varied, but great. Just a pity i was driving, no carry out bright beer is available. Only in cans. Such a shame, would have loved to taken away some of their heavier beer approx 6% ABV Staff were friendly and the interior accommodation was good.

This place is a totally fantastic! Do not miss out on the 'Kipper in a Bun'. I wavered, and thought to maybe have a 'Banger in a Bun' although was so glad I went with the Kipper. Perfectly cooked Kippers, Lemon mayonnaise, in a soft white roll eaten on the beach was just divine. Wife's comments were 'That was Lush!'. Great friendly service and all locally sourced delicious produce. Even the coffee was from Holly Island! All in a free car park!

This is a little hidden gem! Totally vegan (dog friendly) cafe, small and compact with beautiful cakes on display. The owner is extremely friendly and welcoming and this little cafe is a must visit on a Friday or Saturday! I had a slice of the chocolate and raspberry cake which was the best vegan cake I have ever tasted! Their signature coffee from a cafetière was also delicious! A lovely visit to a place I’ve been wanting to go to for a long while. I will definitely return!
