We had the most amazing time here on Saturday evening before our show. I am on a special diet at the moment and the team here could not have been more accommodating for me. I was in contact before we went and they made me my own specific pizza with all my dietary requirements and were just so amazing about everything. So efficient with communication. I want to thank all the staff here for being so brilliant. Especially Ebony who I was in contact with before we went. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was so much fun! We will definitely be coming back. Literally couldn’t recommend this place enough!!

My husband popped & I popped in here as many times before but didn’t get the great service we usually receive..I sat & watched my husband being totally ignored at the bar while the young lady behind the bar carried on serving students as they arrived it wasn’t over busy because sometimes you can understand how it can get confusing..this will be that last time we call for drink or food

James is absolutely fantastic, what a legend. Shout out to the magician and Wednesdays with tibbles is unreal . If you want a pub with a great vibes and want to have a great time I’d highly recommend Wednesday quiz nights or the beer tasting session .

Thanks to my friend’s amazing performance at the pub’s Wednesday night quiz, we won a beer tasting experience—and what an experience it was! I arrived expecting to sample a couple of Peronis and maybe some standard beers, but what we got was truly mindblowing. James curated an incredible variety of beers, each carefully selected and introduced with such passion and expertise that it completely changed my perspective on beer tasting. His enthusiasm was infectious, making the experience even more enjoyable. As if that wasn’t enough, we also had an absolute blast with Greg the magician, who left us all in awe with his mind-bending tricks. I couldn’t have imagined a better way to spend time with my lifelong friends. Huge thanks to James and Greg for making this such a fun and unforgettable night. Highly recommend! Thank you, guys!!!

Went here with my yank boyfriend after a great show at the Lyceum. We initially weren't going to stay for long, however, after a few glasses of wine we decided to try some cocktails, they were all fantastic! We tried the beer battered pickles and they were lovely. The highlight of our night though was the lovely server James, AKA Ed Sheeran from Wish. He was so attentive, funny, personable, and kind. He even brought us water without us asking after he noticed we had had quite a few! Thank you James for a wonderful night! We will definitely be back, thank you for making us feel so welcome <3

Great pub, met all our needs on Superbowl evening.

Called in on a Sunday lunchtime didn't have any food just a drink and there was a great selection of drinks and the person behind the bar was very knowledgeable I thoroughly enjoyed my stout thank you.

Honestly enjoyed my time there. The service took little too long but nonetheless highly recommend also the security guard Jeremy was honest to God a sweetheart definitely will back.

We popped in on a Saturday afternoon because they were showing the six nations match. The staff were really friendly and service was swift and efficient despite the place being super busy. We liked that they actually showed you the amount on the card terminal when paying as at a lot of places you have to take it on trust that you're being charged the right amount. There's a great selection of drinks as with all Head of Steam venues. We didn't have food, but what food people had around us looked nice. One of the bar staff must've used his break to sit and watch the rugby and he got chatting to us, he was a really nice guy. There were plenty of screens to watch the rugby in from all around the pub.

Really nice, reasonably priced bar, with good food options. Tonight there was a brilliant jazz band on which made for a really nice atmosphere. The food took a little while to arrive but was very tasty.

Great venue. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff . Usually go to one of the Leeds venues ( which are also great) but this one has it all ! Big screens for sports and lots of seating arrangements

Great place. Really enjoyed it. Lots of space to spread out with a medium size group, and it had a great atmosphere. The staff were really friendly and helpful and put up with our indecisiveness and mildly drunk ways with good humour. The food was lovely. Pizza were great and I'll be going back just for the chips!! Updated review. The food is always great. Its a good place to meet after work or it you are heading out for the night.

Nice food, great location and good atmosphere

I reserved some tables for a Christmas get together early December and Ebony and her team really looked after us. We only had drinks so I can't comment on the food, but there is always a good atmosphere in this lovely pub. A big space had been reserved for us and Ebony and her team were great at checking if we needed more drinks and keeping our space protected as it was a busy Saturday afternoon. All communication with Ebony had been clear prior to the day. Some of our party had never been here before and really liked it, thanks for getting our afternoon off to such a great start!

Had an amazing time at Head of Steam last night. The festive Gyros was absolutely amazing, highly recommended. The magician Greg Holroyd who was working the room was mind blowing! Great touch Head of Steam.

Surprising find, good beer and great atmosphere.

We booked a table for 14 people for after the panto matinee. It’s a perfect place to go for a bite to eat and a drink. The food came out promptly and the service at the bar was brilliant considering it was busy! We love the food, it’s always top quality and delicious!!! The staff are so friendly too! They make you feel very welcome. It’s my favourite place in Sheffield!!!!!

We booked a team lunch via email with Ebony who was so helpful. We were able to pre-order and she was responsive and understanding when we had two team members unable to attend last minute and for the special requests on our order. We arrived to find our table ready and set up for us with our drinks and food soon to follow. Everything was delicious and every plate was clean! Cannot recommend this place enough from the staff and service, to the food quality and price. Huge thank you from all the Ansys Finance team, we'll be back very soon!

Great place, lots of tvs, a huge choice of drinks and a great food menu, although we didn't eat. Service was quick, and prices were reasonable - we would definitely visit again and would recommend it too.

Not knowing Sheffield, we did a quick google and this place warrants the high scores. Very good service, fantastic beer choice (even great selection of non alcoholic inc draft) and food decent, pizza very good, served quickly despite busy Saturday afternoon

Came here to watch the Rugby and had some great beers and even had a fantastic magician entertain us at our table. If you ever get a chance to see Greg Holroyd, you won't be disappointed!

Headed here for a couple of drinks yesterday and had a great time. We all tried drinks we've not had before. Amazing selection. Really nice staff too. Barman let us try some of the freakshake sour as it was on the pricey side, didn't stop us though and a pint was ordered! Lovely bar, great TV and sports selection. I wish we had something like this local. Just amazing, would definitely visit again. Nice guys on the door as well.

Brilliant pub in a great location.

Perfect spot for a laid-back evening! Dropped by on a Monday night, walked right in, ordered some food and drinks, and had a fantastic time. The bar staff were super friendly, and the 30% Industry Discount was an awesome bonus! The food was on point, and the sour beers on tap were absolutely delicious. Definitely coming back!

Close to the Crucible Theatre with some outside seating. The beer choice is good and the staff are pleasant. Toilets are upstairs. It's worth calling in for a few beers.

Good food and some great ales on

I asked for non alcoholic options and was only told of the basics and non of the craft choices. Then had a look on untapped and saw they had a way better selection than the bar staff serving me had told me about. Was a bit disappointing.

Excellent city centre pub. Amazing range of beers and ales. ( The most I have seen in one place). Staff were phenomenally friendly and helpful. Reasonable prices. Football , pub games ,very clean and tidy. A brilliant atmosphere on Saturday lunchtime with footy fans and viewers. We will be returning. Didn't eat but from what I saw it all looked delicious.

This was a lovely pub for drinking, with a design echoing the grandeur of a theatre! The winding lights are beautiful and decorations dotted around of different beverages add to the feel, counter is really nice with all the options clear there. I had a refreshing pint of Rekorderlig, enjoying the leather seating and table was clean too!

Great local brewery pint. Child friendly before 8pm.

Good pub I didn't have any food on this visit

Been in today for lunch and drinks , the staff are brilliant especially the young lad with glasses who came and brought our food and drinks to our table , what a credit to the company ge is , fantastic selection of drinks , the food was lovely also

Dropped the daughter at mercure Hotel for the day, decided to go on a wander with the wife......we never left the place. What a bar. Great atmosphere, food was banging and loads of sport on silent to allow music to be heard. Will be back

I always enjoy calling in here for a pint. A big old building which is nicely situated near the Crucible and close to the Novotel and Mercure, it fits in well. There's a nice big bar in the centre serving a huge range of drinks - including at least one gluten free beer on draught (my fave is Magic Rock's Saucery). The staff are pleasant and helpful when it comes to explaining the beer types. Although not tried so far, I understand they serve gluten free options in their food offerings. A wealth of TV screens surround the bar area showing sport, which has an added atmosphere when the world snooker championships are being played next door! It can get extremely busy, which is great to see so, if you don't want the hustle and bustle when getting to the bar, try a weekday afternoon for a more relaxed experience!

Thursday 12th September 2024 Today, I had the pleasure of reviewing this excellent real ale house next to the Crucible in Sheffield This great wooden floored pub has a horseshoe bar The pub today had a good amount of mainly locals inside it The personal drinking in this pub were pleasent and lots of them drinking pints of real ales There is a plethora of real ales on in this pub. I've posted pictures of them on the pubs site. There were a lot of interesting beers on handpumps The staff were really good and helpful at their jobs also. In my opinion this pub is an essential visit for real ale drinkers when in Sheffield

Not the bar staff's fault but £7a pint and belive me when I say it was the worst pint I've ever had wish I could rate it zero stars won't be back

I went for a birthday part and the drinks were great priced and very nice. the entertainment for the night was a jazz band was amazing. aswell as the band there was a magician who’s tricks were very good and left me amazed. overall i had a great experience and would recommend to anyone who would want a party here.

The place in Sheffield for cold food. They've nailed it. Sadly it should have been hot! Our four dishes took half an hour to arrive during a quiet lunchtime. We suspect they were cooked quickly but the delay was getting them to the table. Food was edible but cold. Note that the only time we were asked if the food was OK was when the table was cleared. We were given a free drink voucher each. Not eating here again.

Met up with family in the soft area, which we booked out for £5.00 per head.Very helpful staff as we had a person in a wheelchair access was kept clear and room organised so it was suitable for all. Staff at the bar were helpful and friendly and everyone enjoyed their food.Thank you both Sadie and Ebony and your great team.

What a wonderful time! Head of Steam has a range of drinks, reasonably priced and the staff are delightful. Olly deserves the biggest shoutout ever!! He really went out of his way to make us feel looked after and I could not be more grateful. As someone who works in industry, his service is top tier and because of this, I will definitely be back (with the industry gang of course). Thank you Olly, your efforts were highly appreciated and recognised tonight. You’re the best!

I am a vegan and very fussy with what I will eat. This place caters for vegans really well, menu very adaptable too! I had the bbq corn ribs, cauliflower florets and fries with Asian slaw. It was honestly the best food I’ve had! Thanks

Visited on a busy Saturday afternoon, big shout out to beth, nothing too much trouble, she worked really hard and was extremely helpful and friendly. The other staff were lovely too

An impressive range of drinks on offer

Excellent midweek visit for food and a couple of drinks. Service was friendly and efficient, included recommendations and knowledge on what was available. Food came out quickly, well presented and extremely nice. Staff were attentive and we'd definitely look to come again.

Pre theatre snack and drink. Chips were the most reheated, dried out, hollow dregs from other days , that I've ever had the misfortune to see. Inedible and frankly should never have been served never mind left the pass. Hot drinks inc coffee never saw a trained barrister in it's life. Luke warm, milky water. I mean seriously, coffee and chips.... its not like we set the barrè high...especially for a city centre venue, where unfortunately the coffee shops shut at 7pm.

Service for two drinks was good, he recommended an IPA for me to try a sample of and was fine, my partner had a Pepsi max and vodka, there was loud music playing were plenty of seats inside. Outside seating was okay, some tables under a tree had bird poo on them. It was 30°C so outside had plenty of people.

The service was excellent, and didn’t have to wait long to be served. The food was nice! I ordered Pizza - however it may be worth checking underneath , as it was overdone and not immediately noticeable until almost finished, since it was not the entire pizza , couldn’t really go back with it when it was almost eaten.

Vegan Sundays slay but gets busy at times !

The atmosphere is great! Music not too loud, seating well spaced and comfy, and drinks looked and tasted great (Cocktails were £10 each). The bouncer was funny and friendly, and both him and the bartender were patient and kind with our little group. The biggest thing was the **magician** who came over to our table. He was friendly, didn't make us feel pressured to do anything, and really impressive! His name is Greg Holoryd (look up his name + wedding magician to find his socials) if you want to check him out (I don't think hes a regular part of the pub but made our evening extra entertaining)

I received my order very late..lol It was British soccer day, and when people were asked who lined up first, they left me out. Are you upset that Asians came to watch Euro soccer? When I looked straight into his eyes, he noticed me and accepted me?

I have visited the Head Of Steam a few times over the past few months and I absolutely love it! We visited @ 2pm on a Saturday for food, and I booked a table in advance. When we arrived we booked in at the bar then were taken over to our booth. The service, food and choice of beers were perfect! and there was a lady server with long brown hair (sorry I didn't get her name) who was amazing, looked after us the whole time and made our visit very enjoyable! I will definitely be back and I highly recommend.

Lovely bustling pub. Had children with us who were kept occupied with lots of games available to play.
