Gorgeous food we had 3 small plates between us and all were excellent!the pub was really quiet so not much atmosphere but it was a Thursday afternoon so to be expected. Only downside was there was only one lady servicing the whole pub so had to wait a while at the bar to pay the bill. Staff were lovely friendly though

Our first visit here - the food was delicious and the service was great!

First meal at 'The Tophouse', well worth a visit. We had a meal from the evening menu which is simple but well judged and great value with good sized portions. I much prefer a smaller menu over pages of options as it usually means the selection has been chosen because they can be done really well, which they were. Final star missing as drinks can be a bit pricey, not enough to put me off going back though.

Absolutely fantastic pub, the food is amazing. They have a separate bar and restaurant area and the food is all freshly prepared, local, and absolutely delicious. The portion sizes are also brilliant so you'll definitely not leave hungry!

Lovely food and beers 😋we will definitely be back, had never heard of this pub before so gave it a try and we were pleasantly surprised.

3 of us went to the Crown & Glove last night for an early dinner. 1 of us had the cheese burger and she said it was amazing - particularly the home cooked chips. Me and my friend had the bangers and mash. Wow it was delicious - great tasty sausages, creamy mash and caramelised onions with gravy and the most amazing red cabbage (which I don’t usually like). I’d never been here before but would happily go back. The place is cosy, the service was great, and serves much better than usual pub food.

We had a Sunday lunch on 02/02/25 and it was delicious. Cooked perfectly, decent portion size and the gravy was particularly good. It was good value, the service was quick and friendly. We will definitely be going again.

Fantastic pub under new management, who are really trying hard and you can tell! Excellent food cooked to order, friendly, lovely atmosphere and warm welcome. Well worth a visit you won’t be disappointed. I don’t leave reviews very often but the Crown and Glove is well worth one.

Wow lovely pub , my brother recommend this place so we came for a belated birthday meal for him with my mum & had a meal which was delicious yumyum sausage & chorizo hash with fried egg £12, the menu is very different with plenty of options to try new food also had a pitcher which was very nice too cherry vodka it was you have to try for £10.50 to good to miss, very quick with the service of our food comfortable atmosphere would highly recommend we will defo be back for another cheeky cocktail and amazing food. 👏 Thankyou.

Excelente ubicación y un servicio maravilloso, el almuerzo del domingo fue increíble y abundante. Si tuviera que ser crítico, tal vez entallar el quemador de leña en un día tan frío pero por lo demás perfecto.

Fuimos el viernes a la hora del almuerzo. La comida era muy buena y un montón de ella. Hay un montón de cervezas sin alcohol en oferta. La casera era muy acogedor y amable. La única crítica fue que no hacía mucho calor en el local. Hemos estado un par de veces antes y sin duda ir de nuevo. Un punto positivo es que soy un lector ávido y tienen una selección de intercambios de libros.

Fantastic food. Had lunch. The liver & onions with bacon & black pudding is one of the best pub meals I've had in a long time. Lots of gravy, very rich flavour. The braised steak was also excellent. And good value - £13 a main (or they do a 2 for£16 deal) Very highly recommended!!!

Lovely food and great atmosphere

Booked in for 5 people for my husband’s birthday There was an issue with the reservation not going through on the app we used but we were fully accommodated. The food was just superb, good sized portions and all the menu is cooked from scratch to perfection by an obviously talented experienced chef. Liver and onions was sublime as was everything we ordered. Service was efficient and quick. The landlady l, Emily is lovely and fits the place perfect. We finished with a darts competition which was great.. my husband was given a small glass with a birthday shot, nice touch. I’d definitely recommend the Top House as the locals call it. The 2 pub dogs were so cuddly, made my day as a massive dog lover. We will definitely return and would recommend to others for sire

I went in the tap room, I did not eat but i had a drink, This is a good traditional pub with new management and it deserves a visit.

La comida era absolutamente increíble, bien presentado y un precio fantástico. La única crítica que tenemos sería el camarero, no sonrió ni una vez, nunca preguntó si todo estaba bien y fue un trabajo bastante duro. Estoy dando 5 estrellas porque la comida era muy buena, pero el servicio con una sonrisa habría sido agradable. Acaba de quitarle ventaja a la noche.

Fantastic Christmas menu. The food was amazing and freshly prepared with large portions. Lovely decorated table and the staff were amazing.

Just called into the beautiful pub on the pretence of Coffee!!, ended up enjoying an excellent meal, cooked to perfection, massive portions and well worth the money, Great service, lovely Manager, excellent Chef. Would definitely recommend it. We will be back. Two 😋meals for £16. Value for money.

Top quality restaurant grade Sunday Lunch

Llegamos en poco tiempo y el camarero muy profesional y educado nos preparó una mesa rápidamente. El servicio era continuamente excelente y todo lo que puedo decir sobre la comida era absolutamente fantástico - calidad de restaurante de primera Michelin protagonizó mi humilde opinión. Obviamente hay un chef de primera en su cocina, todo bien.

This is a lovely little place, especially since the new owners took over. The pub itself is very cosy and warm and there were fresh flowers on display the day we visited. Service was great - polite, friendly and efficient. The drinks were as expected and reasonably priced. But the food was just excellent! I had the beef stew with herb mash and my husband had belly pork. Both were excellent - good hearty food. The menu isn’t particularly big, but I prefer this as you can tell the food is home-cooked and very tasty. Just a word about the ladies’ loos - the owner provides a basket of toiletries for customers to use - deodorant, hairspray, dry shampoo and sanitary products. I thought this was a nice touch. An excellent visit

Un pub encantador, muy acogedor. Tuvimos un delicioso bangers y puré y una pequeña selección de platos de nachos y patatas fritas cubiertas, todo lo cual era extremadamente lleno.

First visit for few years but although v quiet midweek the meal was delicious braised steak with ted cabbage in port and bed of garlic and herb mash, and with a very good Merlot.

Normalmente no hacemos reseñas, pero después de cenar esta noche, vale la pena hacer una buena reseña. Bajo nueva dirección, un verdadero cambio de turno, comida cocinada en las instalaciones. Concentrándose en un menú más pequeño que es más restaurante que pub de calidad, excelente comida, amable, acogedor y un ambiente encantador. ¡Sigue así! Vale la pena intentarlo.

Food is absolutely amazing, welcoming hosts. Warm and friendly atmosphere. This pub is a diamond in a sea of pearls. Definitely worth a visit.

The food here is so delicious and well worth the money. I had the mushrooms for starters and they were so good I wanted to lick my plate. I had the steak for main. I had cooked medium and it was cooked perfectly with proper chips 😋. The staff are friendly and so is the atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

Visité este acogedor pub para almorzar el viernes. Era un día glorioso, así que nos sentamos afuera. La comida era fantástica y el propietario era muy amable. A nuestro perro le trajeron un poco de agua de inmediato. Sentado en el jardín de cerveza las vistas eran maravillosas. Tres personas se fueron sintiéndose bien alimentados y felices!

Called in on the spur of the moment with elderly parents. Parked in a disabled space right by the door. Warmly welcomed and looked after very well. Table service helped and drinks and food ordered and brought promptly. Excellent food (especially the home made tarter sauce with the fish and chips 🙂) Great value for money. Will be going back. (Apparently in the first month of new management. Great start!)

One of the best local friendly country pubs in Stannington. Great beer on tap with a nice selection of whiskeys. The bar to the right has a TV screen to watch the sport and a dart board which hosts regular weekly in-house competitions. To the left is a lovely seating area with open fire where you can enjoy the delicious food served by the pub. (And I must say, the roast belly pork is absolutely delicious! 🤤)

If you like the smell of wet dog, fleas on the table and servers stroking dogs then go here! Dog barked non stop and owner did nothing. We asked for a dog free area but there was non. Unhygienic

Excellent service, great beer, and amazing food 👌

We walked here from our Airbnb round the corner. There was a good choice of beer, including Timothy Tailors which impressed my husband. We both had burgers to eat which were delicious and my mum had the evening small menu but even so her scampi and chips was a very healthy meal and she almost struggled to eat her dessert. Wine is very reasonably priced and we had a lovely time. The pub is a little tired and like many could probably benefit from having some money spent on it but the food was good and the staff were really friendly.

We had Sunday lunch to celebrate Ruby Wedding anniversary. We were made to feel so welcome including our dog , they even provided a water bowl for her . The service was friendly and prompt , food was delicious, big portions home cooked , no Aunt Bessie’s yorkshires here . Good atmosphere and great value for money . Highly recommend

Good beers, nice atmosphere in which a group of you can actually talk and be heard (unlike some noisier pubs); food was very tasty, I had a tikka masala and the staff were very friendly (updated May 2024)

We have been here as a family a few times and thought the eating area was dog free. Sadly today it was full of dogs so if you want a smelly noisy hairy environment you will love it.

Very generous portions. A free drink for Mums on Mother's Day! The children especially enjoyed the 'ice cream fun' dessert.

A proper local boozer... Darts is the entertainment of choice... They have a an in-house league with just a £2 joining fee. Showing all the sports on the projector and tvs throughout the building and smoking area Photos show everything spic and span and well maintained throughout... Comfy seating and relaxing music, ideal spot to socialise and enjoy the ambiance of the tranquil surroundings of the Sheffield country side, with views across the valley and beyond Dog friendly with resident pooch "Storm", she's quite the celebrity with the locals 🐶 Michelle was a great host and very welcoming. Open daily .... Currently from 3pm on Monday and Tuesday and 12pm the rest of the week. Great menu options all year round and a special Mothers Day menu currently, early booking for special days essential as very popular with the regulars.

This place has just gone really downhill, the menu is very boring, and the food isn't great when it does come, chef microwave is certainly working extra time. Never know what time you can actually get food as its always changing.such a shame, always used to live this place

You need to update your kitchen opening hours. We came at 7.30 to eat expecting kitchen to be open until 9pm. It was already shut so had to go elsewhere. Wasted journey

Went to WI meeting here. Was charged £3.55 for a ginger beer which seemed rather a lot. Buffet provided which was very nice.

Visited for Sunday lunch with friends today food was great myself and missus had starters king prawn & mozzarella cheese sticks amazing and the Sunday roast was delicious great service professional friendly staff will definitely recommend and we will be returning 🙂

Great local pub with delicious food, good beers and a nice atmosphere.

Staff were lovely, very attentive and nice. Food was not so good, we got there at 1pm so pretty early in the day for a Sunday lunch, everything that came on the plate was cold and tasteless, no seasoning at all. We paid £4.50 for 3 pigs in blankets that were processed frozen sausages wrapped in burnt bacon. All Yorkshire puddings were burnt black and inedible. The gravy was watery and tasteless. The meat was over done and bland. All in all the pub and staff were lovely but the food was very disappointing. We paid £75 for 3 adults and 1 child with one drink each this was definitely not worth the money.

Went in for a meal with family,they had taken some veggie dishes off of the menu,as I'd gone in a few weeks prior and the food was delicious,this time around I wasn't very pleased with the veggie sausage and mash,my starter was amazing as always,just the main...more veggie dishes please other than that it was amazing as ever, would recommend as my family had the hunters chicken and scampi which looked nice and they enjoyed it!!

Booked here for Sunday lunch after reading other reviews. We weren't disappointed, the staff were very friendly and attentive, the food was excellent. There weren't many other diners whilst we were there which is a shame because it was a great lunch out for our aunt's birthday. We would highly recommend and will definitely return

Went to the Crown & Glove last Saturday around 6pm for a meal. Having eaten in there for a while and whilst it was really busy (which was a good sign in my opinion) we were served quickly and despite being told we might have a long wait, the food came quite quickly. And it was really delicious. Good quantity, beautifully cooked and presented. Really enjoyed it. We will return. Thank you very much.

Sunday dinner was faultless. Beef was perfect, very friendly service. Cauliflower cheese was delightfully cheesy and definately enough for two to share.

Drove out to this pub after seeing some good reviews. Really nice village pub feel. Owners were realy friendly especially when one of them found out that my In-laws were from the North East as so was she so they had a good old chat which really helped with making us all feel welcome. Food was very good and good value and service was great too.

Just had Sunday dinner OMG without doubt the best Sunday dinner I've had in years the two chefs Roberto and Christiano apparently known locally as Bob and Chris are artists I would highly recommend there food not just Sunday dinner it's absolutely amazing

Lovely pub, staff and food. We had a pint in the sunshine followed by lovely Sunday Roast. Four full roasts went down a treat, one pie which was delicious and filling and a veggie burger which hit the spot! Staff were really kind and attentive and we flet relaxed. We did a good circular walk through the Rivlin Valley from the footpath opposite and there is ample free on street parking that allows you to leave your vehicle for a few hours before moving it into the large pub car park.

Very quiet on bank Holiday wish they had put a bit of something on to draw folks in.new folks so hopefully will get busy for them

Just had a delicious home cooked Sunday roast, no Aunt Bessie’s here! Michelle and Mandy have recently taken over and are doing a grand job smartening the place up, providing a good range of ales, lovely food and a warm welcome, would definitely recommend
