One of the best local friendly country pubs in Stannington. Great beer on tap with a nice selection of whiskeys. The bar to the right has a TV screen to watch the sport and a dart board which hosts regular weekly in-house competitions. To the left is a lovely seating area with open fire where you can enjoy the delicious food served by the pub. (And I must say, the roast belly pork is absolutely delicious! 🤤)

If you like the smell of wet dog, fleas on the table and servers stroking dogs then go here! Dog barked non stop and owner did nothing. We asked for a dog free area but there was non. Unhygienic

Excellent service, great beer, and amazing food 👌

We walked here from our Airbnb round the corner. There was a good choice of beer, including Timothy Tailors which impressed my husband. We both had burgers to eat which were delicious and my mum had the evening small menu but even so her scampi and chips was a very healthy meal and she almost struggled to eat her dessert. Wine is very reasonably priced and we had a lovely time. The pub is a little tired and like many could probably benefit from having some money spent on it but the food was good and the staff were really friendly.

We had Sunday lunch to celebrate Ruby Wedding anniversary. We were made to feel so welcome including our dog , they even provided a water bowl for her . The service was friendly and prompt , food was delicious, big portions home cooked , no Aunt Bessie’s yorkshires here . Good atmosphere and great value for money . Highly recommend

Good beers, nice atmosphere in which a group of you can actually talk and be heard (unlike some noisier pubs); food was very tasty, I had a tikka masala and the staff were very friendly (updated May 2024)

We have been here as a family a few times and thought the eating area was dog free. Sadly today it was full of dogs so if you want a smelly noisy hairy environment you will love it.

Very generous portions. A free drink for Mums on Mother's Day! The children especially enjoyed the 'ice cream fun' dessert.

A proper local boozer... Darts is the entertainment of choice... They have a an in-house league with just a £2 joining fee. Showing all the sports on the projector and tvs throughout the building and smoking area Photos show everything spic and span and well maintained throughout... Comfy seating and relaxing music, ideal spot to socialise and enjoy the ambiance of the tranquil surroundings of the Sheffield country side, with views across the valley and beyond Dog friendly with resident pooch "Storm", she's quite the celebrity with the locals 🐶 Michelle was a great host and very welcoming. Open daily .... Currently from 3pm on Monday and Tuesday and 12pm the rest of the week. Great menu options all year round and a special Mothers Day menu currently, early booking for special days essential as very popular with the regulars.

This place has just gone really downhill, the menu is very boring, and the food isn't great when it does come, chef microwave is certainly working extra time. Never know what time you can actually get food as its always changing.such a shame, always used to live this place

You need to update your kitchen opening hours. We came at 7.30 to eat expecting kitchen to be open until 9pm. It was already shut so had to go elsewhere. Wasted journey

Went to WI meeting here. Was charged £3.55 for a ginger beer which seemed rather a lot. Buffet provided which was very nice.

Visited for Sunday lunch with friends today food was great myself and missus had starters king prawn & mozzarella cheese sticks amazing and the Sunday roast was delicious great service professional friendly staff will definitely recommend and we will be returning 🙂

Staff were lovely, very attentive and nice. Food was not so good, we got there at 1pm so pretty early in the day for a Sunday lunch, everything that came on the plate was cold and tasteless, no seasoning at all. We paid £4.50 for 3 pigs in blankets that were processed frozen sausages wrapped in burnt bacon. All Yorkshire puddings were burnt black and inedible. The gravy was watery and tasteless. The meat was over done and bland. All in all the pub and staff were lovely but the food was very disappointing. We paid £75 for 3 adults and 1 child with one drink each this was definitely not worth the money.

Went in for a meal with family,they had taken some veggie dishes off of the menu,as I'd gone in a few weeks prior and the food was delicious,this time around I wasn't very pleased with the veggie sausage and mash,my starter was amazing as always,just the main...more veggie dishes please other than that it was amazing as ever, would recommend as my family had the hunters chicken and scampi which looked nice and they enjoyed it!!

Booked here for Sunday lunch after reading other reviews. We weren't disappointed, the staff were very friendly and attentive, the food was excellent. There weren't many other diners whilst we were there which is a shame because it was a great lunch out for our aunt's birthday. We would highly recommend and will definitely return

Went to the Crown & Glove last Saturday around 6pm for a meal. Having eaten in there for a while and whilst it was really busy (which was a good sign in my opinion) we were served quickly and despite being told we might have a long wait, the food came quite quickly. And it was really delicious. Good quantity, beautifully cooked and presented. Really enjoyed it. We will return. Thank you very much.

Sunday dinner was faultless. Beef was perfect, very friendly service. Cauliflower cheese was delightfully cheesy and definately enough for two to share.

Boys wanted to go here again best fish fingers and chicken cougons daughter had Indian it looked amazing so might try that next time . friendly staff go the extra mile to make you feel welcome will definitely be a regular thing going here well done ladies.

Drove out to this pub after seeing some good reviews. Really nice village pub feel. Owners were realy friendly especially when one of them found out that my In-laws were from the North East as so was she so they had a good old chat which really helped with making us all feel welcome. Food was very good and good value and service was great too.

Fantastic hosts great friendly warm welcoming,the ladies are new to the village and have already made a massive impact on the place feel like we've known them years feels like they will make a massive success here goo luck girls. Just had Sunday dinner OMG without doubt the best Sunday dinner I've had in years the two chefs Roberto and Christiano apparently known locally as Bob and Chris are artists I would highly recommend there food not just Sunday dinner it's absolutely amazing

Lovely pub, staff and food. We had a pint in the sunshine followed by lovely Sunday Roast. Four full roasts went down a treat, one pie which was delicious and filling and a veggie burger which hit the spot! Staff were really kind and attentive and we flet relaxed. We did a good circular walk through the Rivlin Valley from the footpath opposite and there is ample free on street parking that allows you to leave your vehicle for a few hours before moving it into the large pub car park.

Very quiet on bank Holiday wish they had put a bit of something on to draw folks in.new folks so hopefully will get busy for them

Just had a delicious home cooked Sunday roast, no Aunt Bessie’s here! Michelle and Mandy have recently taken over and are doing a grand job smartening the place up, providing a good range of ales, lovely food and a warm welcome, would definitely recommend

An example of a pub getting everything right. Friendly, chatty staff, magnificent beer, great vibes, clean and attractive pub. We were lucky to visit on an evening where we were given free food tasters. All of it was beautiful. And Timothy Taylor for £3 a pint?!! I wish this was my local.

Love this pub, great views but more importantly 5 star service from Richard and his team. Great to see it open post lockdown.

The Crown & Glove is located in the housing estate of Stannington. There is a large car park with ample parking spaces. The premises are well presented and clean and the staff were friendly. There were 4 real ales on offer including Doom Bar and local Bradfield Breweries Farmers Blonde. The food menu was large and varied with something for everybody and the quality of the food was good. The service was on the slow side and the value for money was not as good as is available in other local establishments. Overall the visit was an enjoyable one and if you are in the area I would certainly recommend a visit.

Had Sunday roast and the beef just melted in the mouth and don’t get me started on the deserts, OMG just to die for. Nothing was too much trouble and we enjoyed it so much we’ve book for next Sunday

Delicious Sunday roast Just had a beef Sunday roast. Best for a long time. Hot, tasty and plenty of it. Home made Yorkshire’s and roast and mashed potatoes were divine, beef was lovely and tender, five different veg all topped with thick and tasty gravy 😋. Well worth the £10.95. Thanks

La comida era deliciosa, tuve cazadores de pollo. Todos disfrutamos de su comida, pero estuvimos esperando casi una hora para que llegara. El personal era encantador y se disculpó por la espera. Lo pasé bien y tuve un ambiente agradable. Lamentablemente, no había salsa HP, que fue decepcionante y también nuestra mesa constantemente se sacudió a pesar de que pusimos una servilleta debajo que ayudó. Todos estuvimos de acuerdo en que volveríamos, esperando que la larga espera fuera solo porque era un domingo por la tarde muy ocupado.

I haven't been here in ages, and now I regret it as I hadn't realised what I was missing. Great service, lovely community feel in a recently refurbed country style pub with a simple ordinary menu that doesn't do it's offerings justice... Had the lasagne which was really good, followed by a trio of desserts to die for! It looks awkward to get into from the road, but there is parking around the back which makes it much more simple!

Since the new landlord taken over this pub has a much better vibe. Nice drink and atmosphere. A friend who went for food said the meal was excellent.

Food amazing, service amazing, can't recommend highly enough. Will definitely be returning.

Amazing sunday roast, great service

We called in with two large-fish dogs and were immediately made welcome. Sitting in the restaurant rather than the main bar, we received swift, friendly service from everyone we dealt with in our time there. Drinks choices were good; a variety of local and 'international' brands. The food was good. Special mention goes to the Stilton and garlic mushroom starter - I left at the end of the evening feeling slightly melancholic, as I know I'll never have them served better ever again. Can't remember what my wife and I had for main courses... Scampi and a steak, I think. All good, but did I mention those mushrooms? Puddings were nice too. I can't fault anything - just an excellent evening from start to finish. If we're up in the Peaks again, we'll make a point of coming back.

I had the tandoori flatbread. I cant praise it enough. Beautiful.

Under new management, who are really given it 100%, could not be be more welcoming, new menu too.Been a couple of times recently a really nice local pub, fantastic location, nice comfy feel and for us a fantastic place to have an unwed and mid week treat, but well worth a try any time.A real jewel, local craft beers too Bradfield Breweries, as well and ones from far afield, even had Adams Ghost Ship.Well worth a try we will be back!Thanks.

It's ok for drinks, but forget the food, although the presentation looks good the food unfortunatly wasn't. Prawn Cocktail with the smallest prawns and quantity I have ever seen, not worth £5.95. 1 giant lettuce leaf, catapilla eaten with red, green peppers and onion! Beef was really tough, everything else tasted as though it was frozen foods. However Landlord very nice and welcoming.

Visited the Crown ang Glove for the first time as we are trying to find a pub in the area who do a nice Sunday lunch. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent, served hot and brought out on a hot plates so the food stayed stayed hot while eating it The staff were very friendly and you couldn't fault the service. Will definately go back.

Just been in Crown and Glove for first time since Richard and Sarah took it on. Food was excellent and service great. Black Pudding and Bacon Stack for starter was heaven. If you get chance pay a visit.
