Stopped in on the way home from a trip, super helpful staff. Food was better than expected and the restaurant was clean and fresh.

Really did like it here, had a great selection of game food that really hit the spot, it was busy but there were quite a few things missed off the group order, no onion rings, and the chicken fingers compared to the photo were pretty funny but also disappointing, I'd love to give it 5-stars because everything was nicely cooked and really good price. But we're still missing food.

Fabulous lunch at a reasonable price. Staff accommodating and friendly.

Steak full of gristle. Meals were replaced but steak still not the best. Couldn't fault the bar lady who replaced our meals and provided complimentary drinks. It was a shame as we have never had a problem before.

45 min wait for food but it was good when it came. Beautifully spotless toilets.

It was ok but it didn't make me sizzle. My steak didn't sizzle either there were too many onions underneath but hey my chips sizzled !

I wish I could give the service more stars! I took my little girl for a 2nd birthday treat, just the 2 of us and we had a lovely time while waiting her brother to finish nursery. My little one was so content, enjoyed her food and the lovely lady even printed her some Peppa Pig to colour which is her absolute favourite. The ladies on the floor were absolutely lovely, provided us with wonderful service and the food was yummy!

Awful food, it tasted like a week old reheated plate of something that should have been buried at Sea.

We are regular visitors to The Haywain and always have exceptional service from all the staff! The recent renovation is fantastic and really pushes the venue to the next level! Yesterday Luisha provided a very professional and pleasant service as always and makes the visit all the more enjoyable with her cheerful and polite demeanour! Well done all!

What a transformation. I really felt that I had walked into a different pub. You really will not be disappointed. We had a great evening. The team were fantastic, food beautiful and hot. The skillets were sizzling and we felt very VIPs being served our food by Jane. The drinks were lovely and the prices are really reasonable. Well Done to all of the guys. Can't wait to come back.

Lovely to be back at the Haywain today with Jane and the team. It is looking great after a make over. We had a big breakfast and a veggie breakfast both were filling and tasty

Shocking food my Father's steak could have done with a chainsaw just to cut it. The rest of the food was burnt and extremely cold the chef needs a medal for getting everything wrong at least they excelled in being the worst place I've visited in years. I was not paying the bill but if I was I would have refused to pay. Oh and it was dirty and grim.

Very poor experience. Booked table for 8 people. When we arrived there was no full size Prosecco bottles available on a Saturday night. Then when it came to order food there was no garlic bread, onion rings, house sharers, chicken dishes, skin on fries to name a few! We were not informed of this when we arrived. Also our food did then arrive in 20 mins however one of our main dishes and our chips to accompany another dish arrived nearly 20 mins later!! All in all really poor experience and not what we have had previously. I appreciate you are closing for refurbishment this month but felt like you already had!

A nightmare Bar staff play hide and seek I was in the Bar waiting to be served went into the middle bar no staff then went into the the executive lounge no staff but can hear them talking absolute shambles paying Bar Staff that hide.

The young guy at the bar very welcoming indeed which was the first we have ever experienced .

Great food, disappointing no decent ale on draft, only in bottles, & only 1 of them had been in the fridge, rest of bottles were warm.

A choice of two places, as very last minute. BIG MISTAKE. Busy on arrival, found table. Ordered food, forty five minutes wait. Three of us. One having salmon, a lot of establishments presume everyone want chips. NO option for jacket or boiled potatoes. First meal came out waitress did not know what it was!!!. Took it back. Two meals arrived. Eventually salmon arrived on a HOT skillet, when customer,had mentioned to be served slightly pink, plate changed. No one addressed us to ensure everything was OK. A table adjoining us two had eaten, before the third was even served. Asked for a pint of orange juice and soda,informed by Robbie we do not do pint glasses of that, when we have ordered before. Will NEVER buy food from there again,especially when most comes out of the freezer or prepped.

Customer service is great. The new menu looks really good, we all had sizzlers, the chicken was lovely, all in all a good meal & good portion. Child’s meal was a good price.

This was the 1st time I sampled their food there. It was really nice tbh. The haywain is always busy & a go-to as I work close to this location. So yes, not only do I recommend the Haywain, but I will be going back for further meals over the coming months

A really lucky find in Caldicot. Excellent & friendly service from great staff behind the bar. We're both vegetarian & can thoroughly recommend the veggie burger option.We brought our dog and were directed to the dog friendly bar which is separate to the main bar. Not only is there a dog section but also there are four meal choices from the dog menu. Our dog is pretty fussy but we took a punt on the chicken & rice option, she literally woofed it down. All provided with amazing value too.

Jane and the team at the Haywain are always so accommodating and can never do enough for you. Food was amazing as per usual. Always look forward to a visit here.

Go very regularly on my own as recently lost my partner and its only 5 mins away from home ..The staff go beyond and above and are fab ...Never yet had a bad deal in there as food is always great ..Great pkace to eat and have a drink

we came in for a bit of warmth and a chat regarding some work we had been doing in the area and we spoke with lovely lady Luisha ~(apologies if i have spelt your name incorecctly). She was very welcoming, polite and very customer obsessed! what a pleasure to have working for you. I have visited the haywain on a few occasions lately both with friends and family. Have been very impressed on both occasions, great service, yummy food and the staff go above and beyond to look after all your needs. Can’t wait to come back. Well done to all. 😄

Cheap and easy. Only issue is the bar is always under staffed so you have a bit of a wait at times.

Arrived at the pub when the pub was not busy I ordered food and drinks for myself and my daughter and requested a tab as we wanted desert. The food came out fast and promptly no issues with the dinner at all, it was all cooked lovely. The problem came when we ordered desert and paid the tab in full at the bar. As I have mentioned before the pub was still not busy at this point and we waited for over 40mins for the dessert to arrive I had to question and ask 3 times if the dessert was coming as loads of others customers meals were coming out, and they had ordered after us? I had no real explanation as to why ( the pub was not overly busy/and people who ordered food after me was being served their meals?) the member of staff went out to the kitchen and moments later I got shoved the dessert at the bar by the bar staff very rudely, this was after the third occasion I questioned why my daughter had to wait nearly 3 quarters of a hour for a dessert. The dessert looked liked it had been sitting in the kitchen for a while as the ice-cream was melting and the fresh squirted cream on the waffle was now liquid. They were not apologetic and very rude. This was not on a busy night this was on a Tuesday evening!! If this is how they are going to treat paying customers I’d rather spend my well earned money in another pub that gives better service and treats their customers with respect and common decency.

We brought our dogs with us to this pub and it did not disappoint. The staff really are brilliant and nothing is too much trouble. We had food and drinks which were delicious and priced really well. Great value. There is a light-hearted, fun atmosphere with the team.

Stanley would like to give a big paws up to the haywain. He thoroughly enjoyed his sausage and scrambled egg served by the very friendly staff, Rachel and Jane. We did come outside to eat but dogs are welcome in the sports bar now which is great. Thank you, we will definitely be back!

We visit the Haywain regularly, with it being our local. The food is always lovely, with changes made for dietary preferences. The staff go out of their way to make it an enjoyable experience, they are really welcoming, friendly, happy and great with the kids. You can’t go wrong with the price either!

My family came down to visit so we all came here for some lunch and it was absolutely delicious and can I just say the staff were so welcoming and made our experience wonderful. My family have now said they’ll come and visit more often but not sure if it’s to see me or to come to The Haywain again

Not brilliant bit disssapointed but it was ok nice dessert but my main meal wasn’t tasty a bit plain but dessert was nice.

5* all round for a fantastic night with the girls. Great service, massive selection of spirits and cocktails, and on a deal too! High recommended if you want a good place to go!

Had a lovely evening last night, food lovely, staff made us feel at ease. Staff helped me with the sizzling app she was so kind, think her name is Rachel. Fab night except for the loud obnoxious 8 or so people that were very rude, especially one of the women, who was drunk and slagging the staff off. Recommend the 2 for 9.50 deal that is Mon-Fri, it's a good little deal to go for. I recommend the fish and chips, you get quite a large portion and the fish is great quality.
