Just popped in for Drinks. Beautiful sunny day. Service with a 😃 smile.

Ben our waiter was superb. He had a great sense of humour, was very knowledgeable about his wine and the food on offer.he engaged well with the older ladies in our party and was very accommodating of their smaller appetites. The food was nice, my Russian coffee not so much ( quite watery coffee) The other staff were also very nice and provided good service but Ben stood out. Steak burger and goan curry were good choices as was the cheese and onion pie and the bacon chop. The fish and chips were also available in a smaller portion but were good fish portion sizes. Nice venue, lots of outside space. Clean and inviting.

We went to Hayhurst last week,we waited 2 hours for main meal.problem is i haven't had any food all day,so it was a.pain waiting so long.but they offered a full refund which I thought was very nice of them.i still payed half the bill and they were very busy.so I will end this negative review and say it's a lovely place to eat.

Great food, great beers on draft, my go-to pub. Keep up the good work guys. If you want to eat here, book early to avoid disappointment, tables for meals get snapped up quick especially towards weekend. Plenty of parking, good atmosphere, dog friendly, lovely roaring fire when it's cold.

Service was awesome, food was massively overpriced, kids meals were something out of 1990s mum’s kitchen and crazy price… so easy to make good simple food surely? Wouldn’t return based on the feeling of being completely ripped off.

Food was delicious and staff friendly for a mid week meal it was a lovely change to see a bustling pub/restaurant . Prices on the higher side however the 'tiny' piece of gluten free flap jack with our coffee's was delightful .

My Dad and I have been here several times. The service is always exceptional and the food lovely. Today staff went the extra mile to accommodate my allergy. A truly great restaurant.

I am Coeliac so chose this pub as accredited by CS. Found it to be excellent. Really nice decor and warm and friendly atmosphere. All staff were great for a chat and really understood my needs around the menu. Myself and partner chose a couple of mains with drinks. Food was really good and all in all an enjoyable evening which is all too often difficult to come by in Coeliac world.

Really lovely local gem. A little pricey but really worth it as the food was really food quality. Small menu but that's always a good sign. We've had a shouolder of lamb and steak, mushroom and ale pie for our mains and those were delicious, good size portions! Really friendly staff and a nice vibe. Dog friendly. We would definitely recommend!

Fantastic Sunday with the Hayhurst - Lovely organized dog walk, followed by a spectacular Sunday Roast - highly recommended.

Arrived for food to be told there was a wait of 30/40 minutes for other diners to finish their meal as there were only so many tables open due to having no staff, surely the paying public don’t need to hear this, actually waited nearly two hours to eat, absolute disorganisation, to have staff you need to employ staff, would not recommend the Hayhurst Arms very disappointing experience.

I have just moved to the Winsford area , and my mother came to visit me yesterday from Chester , to see my new home . I decided to take her out for a nice lunch , as I don’t know the area very well as of yet ? So we went for a drive , and came across a lovely looking pub in Bostock called the Hayhurst Arms in the country side . First impressions were amazing , I popped in to see if there was a table for 2 ? I was met by a gentleman who said yes we have , I said I’ll just go and get my mother from the car then , as it was very icy out . When I returned back , the guy was not there , and we was met by a younger lady , so I said table for 2 please ? She then said oh we’re really sorry , 2 of out cooks are off sick today ? Which seemed strange as the other guy , was happy to sit us down with the menus ? Also if food was not available , we would have been happy just to have a drink , but things just felt a little awkward then ? I asked if they could recommend another pub locally ? So she said Kelso or maybe Chester lol 😂 No thank you , I live in Winsford and I just wanted to find a local pub , to treat my mother , which we finally we did and the food and service and friendliness was all amazing. We felt that the Hayhurst Arms is lovely outside and inside , but we felt our faces did not seem to fit in this local pub , and the service we received was poor and a little rude . So on that note , I won’t be going back , which is a shame as the food looked good on menu , the place looked great , but service side really let it down in my opinion I’m afraid .

Can't comment on the food as we didn't eat but it looked delicious as it was was being delivered to the restaurant tables. Good choice of beer and lager and fabulous entertainment on our New Years Eve visit. Will definitely return!

Excellent beer, but terrible pricing. A pint of beer at £5.70 per pint is so high that my friends and I will have a drink elsewhere. Shame that your management have imposed such a high price.

Sunday lunch for an important birthday. Over priced food which was well below the standards of even an average pub. Uncooked roast potatoes, tough beef and totally unseasoned throughout. Would not recommend and will not be visiting again.

Haven't been here for some time as it's not that local to us but we had a lovely time. Food was good but the service was exceptional. They moved our table to something more suitable and then really looked after the kids. Will be visiting again!

Really good pub in the small Brunning and Price chain. Several real ales grace the hand pumps. The food is good, as is the service.

Went to a wreath making night which included mulled wine and nibbles. It was a really enjoyable evening.

I can't believe I've lived within 8 minutes drive of this pub - for 22 years - and not been before! Just had a celebration meal here and I cannot fault them. When we booked, we asked for a 'quiet' table for medical reasons. This is one of the only occasions where this has been acknowledged and addressed - referenced as we were shown to the perfectly picked location. Service was perfect, table was comfortable and perfectly spaced and the food was excellent. Live music was lovely and not intrusive...a lovely touch. They were clearly busy, but that in no way diminished the quality of service, nor the timing of the meal. First class and highly recommended. Thank you.

Nice atmosphere pleasant people and good quality food

The food was not up to the usual standard. Pate was small portion with too much toast. The roast beef was tough and over cooked, the rest of plate was bland and short on gravy. Not good value. .

My first visit as recommended by good friend. Lovely food and beautiful surroundings. I'll be returning soon to treat my Mum for her birthday.

Great food. Good service. Multiple different families with kids playing ipads or phones with volume on. Kind of ruined the meal and experience. I understand that its not the restaurant's fault that lazy parents now parent via iPads and phonrs instead of interacting with their own children. Really ruins the experience of eating at the Hayhurst for me so I probably will not visit again. I don't understand why restaurant's don't introduce a policy of keeping electronic devices personal, with the volume off to prevent the assault on the senses when you are trying to relax and talk during a meal. Expensive way to guarantee a headache.

Excellent quality ingredients. This is not your average "pub grub"; don't expect huge portions. Meals are quality rather than quantity. Staff are efficient and friendly. A regular for all my family.

Went for a late lunch with hubby today to a bustling pub with a real fire burning. Had the cheese and onion pie and honestly it's the best I've ever tasted. Staff are so brilliant and the place has a real happy vibe about it. We will defo be back

Edit: 04/10/24 - The sweet chilli is still a good meal, very tasty without being overbearing. This was supplemented by a very nice 6% lager beer,. Not cheap at £6.50/pint, but very refreshing all the same. Still one of my favourite local places to grab some good food/drink and have a catch-up at the end of the week. The sweet chilli beef salad was spot on, as were the fries. The garlic bread with cheese was more cheese-on-toast as the garlic was noticeable by its absence. The bitter was very good, a nice smooth pint. 👍 Service was helpful, friendly and attentive. It was quite busy for a sunday evening so they must be doing something right. Definitely worth a visit. 😁

Only go because it’s our friends’ local place. Been at least a half a dozen times. Always disappointed in choices, quality and quantity, never mind the food being extremely overpriced. Fish and chips were OK but too expensive. Was served cold raviolis on a cold evening. And the steak was tough as leather. Not again.

My friend and I recently had a lovely dinner at the Heyhurst Arms. The evening started well with plenty of space to park. We got inside and went to the bar to check in for dinner. We were about 15 minutes early but were shown straight to our table. The staff were attentive and friendly, but not instusive. The next challenge was how to decide what to have, we were spoiled for choice. Both of us could have eaten almost anything from this really broad menu. There's something for everyone here! The food was really delicious, and just as you would expect (or hope) from this elavated pub grub menu. The highlight of the evening for us, however, was the fantastic service we received, particularly from our main waitress, who was really knowledgeable about the wines, discussed lots of things with us about the food, and generally was super friendly, professinal and welcoming. We will definitely be back.

First time for me. Lovely pub and dog friendly. Varied menu and prices as expected. One less star for size of coffee cup. Needs to be bigger! Lovely waitress Ellie B, thank you. Would return to maybe try a Sunday lunch. Update Aug 24 - been tonight and I just find the menu expensive for what you get. Salty fries that resemble maccies plus a small burger nearly £17. Tasty but didn't knock my socks off. Don't think we'll call again at these prices/portions/quality 😢

We were disappointed with our last visit! Bread roll was hard as stone,various other items were over cooked and inedible due to over cooking ,reported this to our server and didn’t get a response! Wrote to explain our situation disappointment,I did write to the company and didn’t get a response so we won’t return! We were regular visitors and have some discount vouchers if anyone wants these let me know!👎👎

The Hay Hurst arms is truly lovely oldie worldie ,the the staff are always amazing friendly and ultra helpful and the the food is always gorgeous....and we've tried most ...and a special mention to Ben who served us tonight was so helpful and attentive thankyou .

When the only suggestion is "how about a blue cheese sauce (as an alternative to the excellent peppercorn sauce) to accompany the excellent rump steaks", you now that your favourite restaurant on the Northeast side of Winsford has cracked it! Repeated happy customers (along with Fox&Hounds to the southeast and The Plough out to the West of Winsford. We are spoilt for choice! This builds upon out previous (very happy) review four years ago in 2019: Several recent visits. Always great food, drink and service. We shall be back again (and again!) Updated (again!) 27AUG2024: continued excellence across effectively monthly visits throughout 2024 so far.

Always a pleasure to come back to the Hayhurst Arms, dog friendly for our pooch Penny, and the staff are super. Sunday dinner was delicious, both the lamb & mix roast dinner was a hit with our party! Thank you for being patient and dealing with allergies in a professional manner. We managed to squeeze in a dessert too - highly recommend the passionfruit cheesecake, super light & fluffy! We'll be back soon!

The service we received was amazing. Lucy offered an alternative when we weren’t sure of the accompanyments. She was attentive, polite and showed GENUINE interest in why we dining. She is a credit to the Hayhurst restaurant.

We waited for 2 hours for main courses to be served. No starters . So disappointed,just feel they are just trying to get heads in but not looking after the people, staff looked overwhelmed . Will not be returning anytime soon .

Went for a Sunday lunch. When looking at the prices I noted that it’s more expensive than other pubs. It has a nice atmosphere so at over £20 for a beef roast dinner I hoped it would be good. My partner ordered roast beef and pork belly which was over £21. My roast beef Sunday lunch came and there was 3 inches of bare plate all the way around. It was stacked so I dismantled it to find that there were 3 small roast potatoes and a small amount of shredded dark green cabbage. A small roasted carrot and…2 mange tout.. these belong on a stir fry in my opinion. Also some carrot shavings which I would have on a salad, not a roast dinner. The 2 slices of beef were a decent size and flavour and the single Yorkshire pudding was nice. But.. I was still hungry after eating this. I have never been hungry after eating a whole roast dinner! my partners was the same but only had 1 piece of beef and then 1 tiny stick of pork. We are very disappointed with the portion size, we will not be eating here again. I feel ripped off as we went to another pub and ordered starters and dessert as we were still starving. For the record we are both slim and are not big eaters. But for the price they should consider doing a decent portion or drop their prices. I do not recommend going here for food. You will feel unsatisfied.

Average food at overinflated prices with poor service. Very expensive for what you get. The food is basic and portion size small. I ordered the cheese pie, and they brought me fish and chips. My meal came out when everyone else had nearly finished. The pie was £17. All you got was a slice of pie, a few leaves of spinach and some gravy. Pretty disappointing. The pub is trying to be a cut above the rest but is falling short in my opinion. It's the first time I've been and the last. The staff were obviously overwhelmed and couldn't cope with the amount of people in. When they did attend the table they were great, just not enough of them.

Very dissapinted in the meals, we voiced our concerns but not sure if they were taken seriously. Probably won't choose this venue for any future eating out.

Disappointed. Called in for a birthday lunch with my husband. It seemed we were inconveniencing the person behind the bar as he asked if we had a reservation, which we did not. We asked if we could sit outside and were told no food was being served outside. Not true, as later he carried two meals to customers outside. We were sat at a table by the door next to a number of noisy people. The food was slow to arrive and mediocre, service was dreadful. Customer service training required.

Pork Sunday roast was delicious!

Very good. Unfortunately when we were last there the barmaid removed the sparkler from the beer and served us with a flat pint. Today it was superb. Well done.

Shockingly bad ! Had same menu in Formby but this awful. Redcurrant sauce with cheese pie ?? Really ?? Other branches serve a mustard sauce which is more compatible . Also it was rock hard ! Microwaved to death ! Husband had the brisket which was dry , just awful all of it !!

We hired the private dining room for my husband’s retirement & birthday meal. The staff were amazing and we were made to feel very welcome. The food was delicious and we got 5 star service. Thank you so much for helping us to make this a special and memorable event.

I recommend the burger and always book in advance.
