The Halfway House in Banbridge

The food is very nice, especially the desserts. The staff are lovely and even went out of their way to make a lovely vegetarian Sunday dinner style meal for my mum :)

Excellent food and great staff.

We had our first meal at the halfway house on Tuesday evening at 7pm myself my husband and our 12year old son, upon entering the restaurant an extremely kind, bubbly and so full of kindness lady greeted us her name was Diane, she was absolutely amazing, she had asked us if we had a booking and said we could take a seat while she got us our table, still fully interacting with us, we were showed to our table with pure kindness, we just felt so at ease, the bar tender had brought us our drinks and he was just lovely aswell making jokes with our son, we had ordered starters which were really beautiful mains which were also beautiful and very fast service my husband had the steak and it just melted in your mouth my son and i had the chicken goujons and they were really nice, we had desserts aswell, 5* service from this restaurant and all the staff, we had then went and paid for the bill and Diane greeted us again, we had told her it was our first time there and she had said let me show you around the rest of the restaurant ❤️ we had a great chat with her and had some laughs definitely be back again the restaurant is so cosy and you just feel so relaxed such a nice atmosphere Thank you 😊

Had a wonderful meal with family on Saturday night. The staff were truly wonderful, friendly and helpful. The food on the other hand......was out of this world!!! Most delicious meal I have had in a long many a day. Full of flavour 😋, excellent portions and very reasonably priced. Beautiful place to eat. Will 100% be back!

Absolutely amazing food, called tonight on a busy Thursday evening and the staff were very accommodating and attentive, the manager, Diane is worth her weight in gold, friendly chatty and couldnt do enough for us! I had the tacos (taco Thursdays) these alone are worth paying a visit for - first class! My partner had the Thai green curry and it was amazing aswell. I have friends who live in Drogheda and they always look forward to the food and the atmosphere in the halfway! Can’t fault it! Fab local restaurant!

The Halfway has been always been a great place for a good steak. More recently their extensive menu has grown to include excellent veggie options & a whole menu designed for gluten free. Handy to the A1

Went out for my father in laws birthday with 2 small children in tow. The staff were so incredibly patient with the children which was really appreciated. They overheard us mention the birthday and went to the effort of candles in dessert and sung happy birthday. To tip it off, the children were sent home with balloons. Amazing service from fantastic staff!! Thank you!

Unreal food and even better staff.. friendly, helpful and so so accommodating.. only been twice but already planning my third visit!

First time there with my family today and the food is fresh and beautifully tasty and plenty on the menu to choose from. The dinning room was spacious yet cosy and clean and every member of the staff were super nice with all our needs, special Scott, puddings were incredible Scott thanks ☺️

Called in after lunchtime. It wasn’t too busy. The service was very good. Food excellent! Got exactly what we asked for. Will call again soon.

The Gluten-free food was absolutely delicious and I was catered for so well! The battered fish was perfectly hot, fresh and crispy. Definitely coming back!!!

Second time here sadly we won't be back what a real let down the girl got my order wrong thank god I'd my glasses on I ordered veg curry I'm a vegetarian was served chicken curry I'd to go to the bar to tell her she said I thought you ordered chicken I said veg curry I don't eat meat the plate was took away but my chips where left to go cold the pomadom was rock hard I couldn't even break it the veg tasted funny it was horrible & my chips where freezing then she came over seen I hadn't eaten my food & had the cheek to ask do we want a desert are you for real my partners meal was tastless & bland won't be back. My order was wrong & the table beside us was wrong also please check what your serving customers no discount was offered by the time my meal arrived my partner was finished not the day we wanted. Here's what I left it was horrible.

Food was fabulous. Great atmosphere and service. Pleasant staff. Diane was welcoming and friendly as she always is.

Fabulous food every time we go to the Halfway House Banbridge. We were there on Mother’s Day and for the restaurant to be so busy, the food was amazing. The staff are so friendly and professional at all times. Great atmosphere. There were eight of us and everyone loved the food. 10/10 thank you

Food was very good, portion sizes very generous. The waiting time between starter and main was too long.

The staff are very friendly. I am a breastfeeding mum and they where able to accommodate me and my family. The food was lovely. And a few choices for vegetarians.

We were here on Thursday 29th ,a special family occasion,the service was great ,food was fantastic and Diane was so accommodating and made us feel so at home,will definitely be back.

We recently had my Daughters SURPRISE 18th Birthday party at the Halfway house and our service was absolutely first class. From booking, to organising right up to the night we were looked after. I left the balloons and cake etc all up that day and it was all set up for us arriving. The staff couldn't be anymore helpful, the room was lovely and the food was great. It was a brilliant night and we would highly recommend it for any function.

Amazing food, cosy atmosphere, and the best service I have seen for a long time! We went for dinner and all got roasts of some description. I would 100% recommend the gammon; excellent gravy too! The staff is where it really shines. We were helped to find a hotel nearby where the staff helped us call around. This is exceptional and we really appreciated it! Cosy fireplace is also a huge bonus

What a wonderful evening we had at the Halfway House… thank you to Diane and all of the very hard-working, kind and generous staff. I had rang to arrange a surprise big birthday for my wife and Diane was instantly incredibly helpful. We booked for 32 people to come along for a full Saturday evening meal. Diane had setup the tables and added ‘Birthday celebrations’ items to help create that party feeling. Everyone arrived and were warmly welcomed by the staff. Drinks were served to all and orders for food taken. The food arrived to each table fast and hot… fantastic! From the starter course, to the mains and also the desserts, all food was absolutely delicious. The restaurant was totally packed with many families and couples enjoying a very warm, atmospheric evening out, and yet the chefs were obviously incredibly well organised to have delivered every meal perfect and fast. We really enjoyed our evening at the Halfway House and I would highly recommend the restaurant, staff and the lovely food. I can’t thank Diane enough for how she had been so very helpful and kind - We had a wonderful evening and my wife had a fabulous birthday. Thank you.

Fantastic grub and at an excellent price point. Extensive menu so you will always get something for everyone.

Was a great place to go ! Now must be under new management or a new chef ! Food only average, won't be going again based on this last visit........

Good for family's and young kids

Definitely would recommend this place for lunch. The best burger I've had in a year, and definitely better than some 5 star establishments I've ate in before. The salmon dish also went down very well. We will be calling back again for the Thursday special. The service was also excellent.

Most beautiful country inn i have ever seen. Nice and lovely people, and amazing food.

Almost 50 minutes passed from arriving at the restaurant to receiving the food. The hamburger was completely dried out and burnt on one side, the bun was supposed to be toasted, but was completely burnt on the edges. There was no dressing, nothing. We had huge cobwebs over our heads. The cleaning service should look higher than the table. And personally, I don't like the decoration made of artificial flowers at all. It looks cheap and has nothing to do with the local culture. I would rather expect it in the Balkan countries, not here. And in the end we got a wrong bill. Charged side dish that should have been part of the meal. The service was confused, either there was no one there, or all the waiters took turns there after a minute.

Brilliant food matched by the excellent service, looking forward to going back as soon as possible

Called in on a Monday, it was one of the few places that was open. We arrived at 1pm with a table of 5, the staff were very helpful and the food was lovely, nothing was a bother for the staff as we stayed until 6.30, and they kept the drinks flowing as we were catching up with overseas family.

So happy we stumbled upon this place after leaving Belfast. Such a cute, cozy atmosphere and the food is INCREDIBLE! Best fish n chips I’ve ever tasted, halloumi burger was also unique and tasty. And the sticky toffee pudding was fantastic as well (:

Just been to half way house for dinner, was v.busy but staff are incredible, worked off their feet and still manage a smile. Lovely warm/cosy atmosphere, food delicious and resonably priced will most definitely be back.

We went for a birthday meal.with my gran in law.and we had a blast the food was absolutely fantastic and everyone who served us was great.

Overpriced, average food, 40 minute wait,from food order to food arrival, people ordering after us were served before,one of those places.

Went on a Saturday evening and it was just wonderful. The restaurant is big but it has a cozy country feel to it. The food is incredible, I got beer battered fish whilst my husband got fillet and it was on the nicest meals we have had in a while. Very reasonably priced and we would return. My only suggestion would be to have the fire lit next time ;)

Great value , old fashioned Irish eating house

Visited today for the first time and were very impressed. When we entered the restaurant there was a lovely warm cosy feel about the place, the food was excellent with generous portions and the staff could not have been more helpful. We will definitely be back and would have no hesitation in recommending.

Haven't been in years and the food is still good quality. Reasonably priced by today's elevated standards too.

Sat outside with families drinking a couple of pints. Went back and ate in. The food is very nice, friendly quick service.

Delicious food and good portion sizes. Diane made sure everyone got what they ordered and all happy even though she had to look after many more customers as the restaurant was extremely busy. Will definitely go back . Staff and atmosphere excellent.

Surprised how busy it was on the Wednesday night we ate here. Since most places are shut early in the week thought they must be doing something right to pull people in. The staff were very attentive, service was quick and plates were hot. Food was great, portion sizes good and reasonably priced too. Menu was varied so something for everyone. The pizza menu wasn't offered so must just be a weekend thing. All three of us enjoyed our meals, burger, pasta and roast beef dinner and will hopefully be back soon!

Fantastic venue for a private party

Booked a meal for my husband's 30th. The food was delicious and the service outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble and we were a large party of 15. Thank you so much to Diane for making sure everything was perfect for us . Would definitely recommend and will certainly be back .

Took my mum here yesterday for a early dinner and the place was Amazing beautiful decor lovely staff and delicious food . The curried carrot and parsnip soup was so delicious as was my mums salmon and mash . Deff will be returning here x

We stopped off at the Halfway House on our way home. My husband had a 10oz steak and I had salmon. Both dishes were very good and fairly priced. Unfortunately, a bit limited if you wanted to order zero alcohol drinks but other than that, very happy with the food, service and atmosphere. Definitely would come back and would also happily recommend to family and friends.

Great clean pub/restaurant, delicious food, keenly priced, all cooked to order, home made triple fried chips, friendly staff. Couldn't ask for or expect more. Great atmosphere. We'll be back.

We ate here for the first time recently and we were very impressed. The food was oustanding, well presented and tasted great. The staff were friendly and efficient and the restaurant was spotlessly clean. I would highly recommend it.

Had a great evening in the back bar at the Halfway for a birthday party. Staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly from the first call to book the party all the way through to the end of the night, especially Diane. Good venue for private function, food was really tasty and all well organised for everyone to enjoy themselves on the night.

Wow this place is a hidden gem AMAZING food and service we called in last night for dinner 6 adults and 2 children on are way back from Dublin to Belfast none of us had ever been here before but we will def be back the food was Absolutely delicious and so was the service and such a friendly warm welcome looking forward to returning in a few wks

Hardly anyone there at lunchtime but we waited 45 mins for our food. Pork belly was like thin, tough strips of shoe leather. Veg was hard, mashed potato dry. Won't be back.

Had higher hopes. It was towards the end of a Sunday but food was adequate

Had the daily special starter or sweet and main course with drink £20, we had starters which where good and tasty, I had roast beef, and the other was gammon, the gammon was good, plenty of veg but turnips too hard, roast beef was extremely tough and cut very thin, again plenty of veg but turnip hard, gravy had a vinegar taste but was ok.

We were really disappointed with our experience here. We waited for over an hour to be served. My food was cold when it was served and had to be returned. My partners fish was dry. Although they replaced my dinner & the staff were apologetic, it was still disappointing. Maybe just caught them on a busy/bad day, but wouldn't wish to return any time soon. The restaurant was also cold and lots of diners ate with their coats on.

Great vegetarian food had a lovely veggie curry with rice & the chips are unreal plus a delicious pomadom never had food like it ,can't wait to go back
