The Half Moon in Redcar and Cleveland

Booked mothers day lunch for 2pm. Turned up at 2pm, got told our booking was for 2.30pm, showed them the message confirming 2pm by them. No apologies, told to go sit on sofas. The advertised free glass of prosecco not offered. The waitress came over to us 10 minutes later stating "we have a table but you can only have it for an hour & half"..so not sure what happened to our booking? and still no apology for their mistake, and even worse giving us more issues. We took the table, but really wish we'd just walked out, as the Sunday roast was at best a 4/10 for quality (I left 50% of my meal) and the service 1/10. So as you can imagine we would definitely not recommend this place or come again.

Food was absolutely amazing! And service was just as good. Such a nice atmosphere also so affordable. Will 100% be coming back

Had our dinner here. We used to go regularly years ago. I was so pleased to find that the meals are as excellent as they always were. Two of us had fish and chips, two of us went for the parmo. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. My fish and chips were just perfect. Light, crispy batter on lovely fresh fish. The parmos were massive and I'm told, delicious. And the chips.... Nobody does chips that even come close. These are the best chips. Meals aside, staff were lovely, venue is nice, plenty of parking round the back. That's one to watch out for because if you drive there only to find the four or so parking spaces out front are all occupied, don't just drive on. The rear carpark is huge, accessed down the side of the pub.

Waited over an hour for food even though it wasn't busy when we ordered, food came... Ordered butter curry and rice. Mine came with no chicken just small amounts of curry sauce, with rice, 1poppadom and a small piece of naan bread.. my family have eaten and I'm sat waiting for another curry. We sat and waited in bar area, to no cutlery and we needed to ask for sauce as none was offered to us.

Lovely place, gorgeous food, lovely staff very welcoming and helpful

We were a party of 14 for a 70th birthday. The food was gorgeous.the chicken parmo was enormous but the best...as were the chips. Had to wait a while but the staff were rushed off their feet. We had a great night and wouldn't hesitate to recommend or go back. Thank you

Waited 50 mins in an empty pub for lunch to arrive. We both had the steak which was grisly and not cooked as we asked, the chips mushrooms tomato etc were cold, Will not be eating there again

Best parmos I’ve had and been to a lot of places, portion size was massive done to perfection. Staff were really friendly. Definitely will be returning

Was working in the area and needed a affordable hotel for the night. Was really good value for money. The breakfast in the morning was nice and the service was polite and swift. The bed was comfortable. All in all for the price would highly recommend if you need a room for a night or 2

Realy nice food and great prices. Hadn't been in a long time and heard it had been taken over. Deffintelly a huge improvement on the menu and quality.

the food was absolutely GORGEOUS. definitely 10/10. Isabelle was an amazing waitress and she had lovely manners. The food was cooked perfectly and came exactly how i like it. I would recommend it here for anyone as there are lots of different food choices and they also cater for large groups of people e.g. there as a table of 11 and 17 whilst i was at the pub. Recommended for all occasions, I book my son 18th birthday meal, when we arrived we where shown our table which was set up and ordered our drinks. Shortly after we ordered our meal. When the food arrived it was absolutely beautiful, there was 10 of us so we thought it would take a while, the service was quick and the meals where beautiful and hot. I would recommend anyone to visit and you won't be disappointed, all I have to say now is thank you for having us and we will see you very soon.

I went here with my husband and son ,we had never been to the place before and we will definitely be going back. It is a lovely place ,clean ,spacious and lovely staff . The food was nice apart from the carrots were hard but some people like them like that, my husband and son enjoyed their parmos, and best of all everything was home made not a frozen chip in sight but homemade chips,yummy .

Just dropped in for Sundays lunch proper home cooked absolutely gorgeous meal . Staff couldn't do enough extra gravy etc no problem will certainly be returning .

My hubby's just had the biggest and best parmo and my chicken burger and chips to die for definitely highly recommend.

Not a bad little pub. Menu is very standard pub food but it's nice enough and the staff are friendly. Don't try and park anything bigger than a family saloon though as the driveway to the car park is treacherously tight.

Good food. Went early to eat as going to theatre. Start taking orders at 5pm. Didn't wait long at all for it to be served.

Great pub, staff really friendly and couldn't do enough to help, would have stayed longer but there was a rowdy group swearing whilst children were in, staff did try and rectify this, would still definitely return

One of the best meals I have had since arrival in UK. It was amazingly big meal low cost & extremely friendly atmosphere & service. I thoroughly recommend coming here. Gluten-free is available on most meals.

ordered liver and onions, came as a liquidised mess, did not resemble liver at all, tasted vile, couldn't eat it ,gave to the dog who threw up all night, will definitely not reccomend

Absolutely fantastic place for a nice meal and a pint or two, nice open indoor areas with comfortable seating and relaxing atmosphere. Outdoor beer garden is very spacious and well kept with on site carpark. The meals themselves are well worth the money in terms of both quality and quantity and there are plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options too. The girls there are absolutely lovely and always have a welcoming smile on their faces, could not recommend this place highly enough. Please come here you will not be disappointed 😉

Great gluten free options! Lovely decore, nice and spacious, clean and tidy. Really had great first impressions. Was empty when we arrived and had to wait a long time for food, but the music's good and there's a great range of drinks so we weren't bored. I had potato skins and gf parmo. The bechamel sauce was not pleasant but hey, that's gf for you, but the chicken in breadcrumb was really good! First parmo I'd had in a year and was well worth it! Chips were great, too! My partner had a mixed grill which was nice but the pork chop was unfortunately tough as old boots, but there was a great variety on the plate with crunchy onion rings and perfectly done black pudding. For sixteen quid its a great meal. And they had a garlic pizza bread for starter that was quite oily but smelt and tasted absolutely delicious. The garlic bread base was so soft and fresh! We were much too full for a dessert unfortunately but we'll definitely be back!

Just had a seven member family get together meal at the Half Moon, on a Tuesday which must have surprised the staff, but they were excellent. I tried the Beef Madras which was superb, the beef just fell apart and the curry was about the right hotness. Others tried Parmos, a Cajun Chicken, a Lasagne and a Steak Pie - all were very pleased and none of it was your regular pub grub, it was proper home made food. We will definitely be coming back.

Took myself and kids here for a Sunday Dinner, Food was amazing...beef was so tender didnt need a knife to cut it...vegetables fresh and yorkies so yummy and fluffy. Great service and food... cant recommend them highly enough. Thank you we will be back thats for sure👍

Lovely Sunday dinner home cooked food,friendly staff will visit again, Unfortunately visited agai 3 weeks ago and the dinner was awful We had beef ,all dry asked for it to be changed,staff never came over to ask if everything was to our satisfaction,the beef was awful. I'm not sure if it's a different chef but what a massive difference from our 1st visit.

Been several times and haven't been disappointed so far.

Visited the Half Moon in Lazenby by chance. Glad that we stopped. Greeted by a friendly staff member/owner? The pub decor was I remembered it as it had been some years since I last visited. Pleasant surroundings. We ordered food, which came remarkably quickly, very hot and plenty on the plate. Note: The half parmo is huge😀 I would hate to see what a full parmo would be like Will definitely call again. If you are in the area and looking for a bite to eat then I would recommend based upon today's meal.

Lovely place, food delicious, proper chips and the portion sizes are very generous. Always friendly service, Pauline is very pleasant and talkative, nothing is ever too much trouble.

We live literally 5 minutes away from this place and I can’t believe we’ve never been. Traditional home cooked food, hard to find these days. Food was amazing and service fantastic. Definitely be heading back soon

We visited for Saturday lunch. Ordered steak and ale pie and salmon. Both dishes were so tender and delicious. Staff were lovely and friendly. Had a table by the window. Will visit again.

Staff are wonderful, efficient service and friendly. It is very clean and decor is pleasing and comfortable. Evening meal was tasty and great price point Sunday dinner was a little below par. Starter was lovely, soup. Meat was tough and needed seasoning. Good price point for a Sunday dinner. Will try again, maybe just that day.

Wonderful young bar lady helped me take my beer outside and was very efficient in every way, nice pint in the sun. Tuesday 20 July

Excellent meal very friendly staff.. even got me soy sauce..to put on my fish and chips.

We received a warm welcome and excellent food and service. Their gluten free options are always lovely. I had the gluten free parmo and chips and they were gorgeous. The outside area is lovely too with new seating so we had a drink out there afterwards. Would highly recommend.

Reasonably priced with a warm welcome and a good selection of drinks. Visited on Saturday night 29/5/21 and knowing how difficult a T bone can be to get right, I can only give them all the praise possible. That was absolutely amazing 100%

Just been for a lovely meal with my family. Staff are brilliant and the food is amazing. Mixed grills were great all enjoyed our meals.

It's a shame because it's a beautiful pub, with lovely staff but the food has definitely deteriorated since we where last in. Even had a rotten tomatoe on our salad and the chips where raw. Gutted, loved this place before lockdown, it's a shame

We went for evening meal I've never had such a bad meal it was curry the beef was tough rice was cold all stuck together as if microwaved. my partner had parmo it was ok but we weren't offered any sauces it was bad for the price will not be going back any time soon

I was pleasantly surprised when I visited the Half Moon in Lazenby by both the food, surroundings and the service. It must of been at least 35 years since I was last there and the pub has changed so much. I would recommend this quaint pub and it's food if you are in the area.

Lovely little place, great food, great atmosphere.

Stumbled across this place when original plans fell through. Lovely cosy layout and clean, traditional pub restaurant. Plenty of parking. Nice friendly staff. Beautifully decorated for Christmas too. Short simple but pleasant menu, higher end prices for a pub restaurant. Food was lovely, well presented without being too fussy. Will definitely look to go again on purpose next time!

Sadly the real ale has left through lack of interest.
