The Grove Fish Bar in Kensington and Chelsea

We had a great lunch here today. The fish and chips were freshly cooked and reasonably priced. We ate in and enjoyed a leisurely chat. The toilet was spotless. A hidden gem and very much open!

This Chip shop is the best ever. The food here is amazing and I was not expecting such great food and fantastic service. I ordered a donner Kebab with chips and a halloumi burger and chips. I say chips but they deserve more than being called just chips as they were a work of art. Golden brown on the outside and fluffy and light yellow on the inside. Taste like a buttery mash inner with a crispy roast outer coat with no oil residue. Full of flavour and so morish and comforting. The halloumi was so good with fresh flavoursome salad, we wanted to buy more and have it later. so good! This is more than just chips ...this is The Grove Fish Bar chips. Please try this place as it's amazing. I have travelled from Oxford to this place just to get the chips. Reminds me of when chip shops sold chips that were of great quality and when the owners really cared about what they served their customers. I hope this business runs forever and everyone gets a chance to taste the best chips in the world. You guys are amazing.

My family visited. Very upset with this collection. The Cod was Slushy, very spongy, inedible to say the least wish I had kept the £79 and ordered Chinese. NEVER AGAIN !!!!

Went for my lunch break spent £6 on a regular kebab meat and chips. Just to find hair in my food and for it to give me an extreme bellyache I would avoid going to this place.

The service was great and the fish was so fresh. It is one of the best fish and chips so far Fish is well sized, meaty and batter is wonderfully light. Chips are what proper chip shop chips should be. Cut large, and non greasy.

Food is over priced. They have one guy who works there who’s not fully there. He will ask you to repeat yourself many times and he always has an ear piece in his ear. They done the shop up recently so therefore felt it was ok to bump up the prices as well. Food is ok not worth the high prices though. It’s meant to be a local chippy but they have west end prices.

We had a nice meal , you always get fresh salad and large portions , we had a kebab , and fish and chips . Both really nice , and not that expensive for London . Only one slight problem there are no customer toilets..

We were visiting the portobello market and some one recommended to us to go to the Grove Fish Bar as a place that all the locals go to. It was well worth the visit and we would recommend.

Locale decisamente sporco, lo salva la gentilezza del personale. Fish and chips assolutamente mediocri : poco pesce sembrava impanato più che fritto in pastella, e tantissime patatine non cotte... non ci siamo. Guadagna una stella per il prezzo : senza bevanda, per due persone: 16 pounds, almeno quello era onesto.

This is a very small, nice and clean local place with no waiters and just a few tables, but if you are looking for a great fish&chips this is the right place to go! There are few other options besides traditional fish&chips, like sausages or burgers. We ordered lunch deals of cod fish with chips and a soft drink. The food was freshly made and very tasty, the service is quick and the staff are very nice. Highly recommended and wallet friendly!

Ladbroke Grove has it's fair share of fish and chip shops so you can afford to vote with your wallet. Having only had chips from here over the years, and not very good ones at that, I decided to give this place another try. The place was recently renovated and looks a lot more modern. I ordered large cod, chips and curry sauce. Served in a box, with a slice of lemon to complement, the fish was nicely cooked and the batter not to greasy. Chips were wonderful..cooked to the right side of golden, very little trace of fat and actually using a potato that had some flavour. My only grumble would be that the curry sauce was a bit on the small side. Having said that, thoroughly enjoyed and will definitely be back.

Poisson excellent (haddock) mais grosse marge sur les boissons. Pas de toilettes donc difficile avec des enfants. Personnel très sympa.

Restaurante simples e bem pequeno mas o Fish & Chips muito bom e bem servido. Você escolhe o peixe entre umas 5 opções e separadamente pede a batata. Estávamos em 4 pessoas e pedimos 2 peixes grandes, 1 porção de batatas grandes e + 2 com queijo, além de 1 sanduíche para o filho que não come peixe. Sobrou praticamente uma porção de batatas inteira e todos saímos satisfeitos. O peixe é crocante e tenro e a batata idem. Adoramos!

Every time I pass the area I make sure that I pop in and grab a portion of chips at the very least. This place has been going for years and it a solid staple of the area!

Nos alojamos en ladbroke Grove y vimos que el Grove y buenas críticas. Sin embargo, cuando visitamos el pescado era terrible. Ambos en una pequeña porción y tiró el resto. Fue fuertemente impregnado en aceite que ni siquiera recogerlo.

Absolutely loved this place - really lovely atmosphere, delicious food and great staff. They even have their own homemade tar tar sauce which you should definitely ask for. Quite a nice family vibe and good value for money.

A proper fish and chipper in the Notting Hill area! Very fast and enthusiastic service - lovely sound and smells of something nice frying - how could I pass it by. Big piece of real cod - fresh too I think - and beautiful golden chips -properly cut without new-fangled thin-cut or corrugated styles. Cod stood the "upright-hold" test - soggy fish in batter will collapse or sag - this one didn't - crispy on the bite and tasty white cod! I now know where you are "The Grove". Am-a-comin-back!

Me and my family found this place and we were lucky. Big portion of fish and chips, good quality, good price and really kind staff. Walking and eating through Portobello's market, a lot of curious people ask for informations. And we drove them to the Grove Fish Bar...very nice surprise !

Its not easy to get fish and chips right, as most people fail with the batter or the fish comes out too oily, but The Grove fish bar manage to do it just right, and at a reasonable price aswellIts no surprise then that this has been a fixture in the area for more than 40 years (as I learnt from the photos on the walls)The service is top class and the staff are very freindly. I come here with my friends and family at least once a week. The staff are really friendly and we find the food is top quality! Definitely the freshest Cod and Haddock in London. I have found that most other chip shops don't even serve real Cod!!! Plus they have home made Tartare sauce, which is a must try! I promise you will not be disappointed!

I took fish and chips to take away. They put loads of chips and a small piece of fish all in a paper and then rolled it all up together! Then, surprisingly the card machine wasn't working... Despite of having the sign outside. Needed to go and get cash (annoying!) The price is 7.5£ for this which it is not the fish and chips you would expect at all. It is basically loads of chips with a oily small of not fresh fish. It is worthy to go to a pub just in front and get a proper piece of fish with also peas and tartara sauce for 10£

I was visiting London and wanted to find some decent fish & chips. I tried to hit up more of the well known places downtown but timing never worked out. I also stumbled upon a few bad places as well. I found The Grove Fish Bar while in Notting Hill on my last day of my London Trip. It isn't a tourist stop by any means. It is a local, fish and chips shop. Exactly what I wanted and it filled my desire to get a decent Fish & Chips. The chips weren't the best, but the fish was good. It is a counter order place with a few tables in the back. If you are in Notting Hill and have a desire for a quick Fish & Chips. This is probably your best bet.

A simple chippy , cheap and cheerful. Fun and happy staff, a clean vibe and tasty food. Basically all you could ask for from a simple chippy!
