Great pub. The manager Cam looked after us really nicely. He recommended us some beers that were all really good! We had a great time on Thursday night

We had a great evening drinking bottles of pinot noir. The staff were lovely and had reserved us a table in the back where we could enjoy ourselves without being in the midst of the busy bar, but were still only a few metres away from the busyness without it being on top of us.

I booked the private room for a retirement gathering for our company. the room was very intimate for the amount of people that attended, also as we had a few speeches it was only heard by the party members and kept this very private. The food was excellent had so many comments, was hot and fresh and came out exactly on time that was discussed due to a delay. Hugo accommodated all the needs even down to trying to find particular areas for banners that i provided to be displayed. I think improvement consists of maybe the decor seems a little tired and would be good first impressions along with the flooring to the room to be updated and a freshen up Also I think it would of been nice if we could of had a member of staff maybe serving the drinks and have access to all alcohol upstairs rather than going downstairs for specific drinks.

We came in for drinks on Thursday evening. The pub was charming and the service quick, despite being incredibly busy for such a small place. There was no outside seating but what seemed like hundreds of people enjoying after work drinks on the pavement. The staff will keep telling you to keep behind the barriers or their blue line if you step over it, but I suppose being a central London pub they must have to abide by what the council tells them, strange though as other pubs in busier places like Soho have people almost in the street and the staff don't seem to be pressured to enforce as strict rules. But it didn't dampen the evening and we stayed for a few hours enjoying the sun whilst in lasted. The beer selection was great, I was drinking a Deya beer recommended to me two of my friends said the Guinness was great. All in all a lovely little side street pub that we will be visiting regularly after work from now on!

I'm reviewing The Green Man as a pub not as a restaurant. I am afraid I am a bit unreconstructed when it comes to vegetarianism. It's not my cup of tea. So I wouldn't choose to eat here but I would most certainly return for more of the friendly atmosphere, fine array of craft ales and select choice of cask-conditioned beer. Really enjoyed my visit. We were heading for a gig just up the road and stopped by on the off chance that the pub might be a handy watering hole. It certainly was.

I've been here a couple of times for drinks with friends and colleagues and really liked it on both occasions. It's always busy yet its possible to find a table or if you call in advance a table can be reserved for you. There are tables upstairs too. Its in Fitzrovia, close to Oxford St and Soho, tucked away in Riding House St. There's no muzac, traditional wood floors and tables with benches and chairs, open brickwork, and dark walls, it has a good atmosphere. I haven't eaten here but intend to when I can, the food has been recommended to me -you can see their menus on their website.

Picture the scene: You've had a rough Friday and decide to give this place a chance having already been burnt by them once before. You walk in and find the music deafening and try to get served by the bar staff who are too busy talking and going off doing irrelevant tasks to notice you; and when they start serving they randomly pick and choose who to serve and not the people who have been waiting the longest.

I agree wholeheartedly with previous positive reviewers. This is a pleasant, clean, tidy little pub with a great range of ciders to try - though don't go mad as mixing them up will knock you legless! Still good range of other beers so don't worry there. Great burgers, if a little on the small side, and I went in a second time a while ago, had the fish an chips, also very good. Nice atmosphere and staff -well worth a visit as not too crowded or noisy when I went.

This has been on our list to visit for a while. I have to say it is not the cider heaven I was expecting although there is a better than average selection. There is also a good range of craft beers ales and a smaller selection of real ales. The food we had was good quality but pricey even taking this into account. Burgers are 241 on Thursdays so this represents good value. The pub interior is pleasant and traditional and there are some high tables outside on the street.

It was very good. The tartare sauce was tasty. One of my friends had the fish and chips; the fish still had the scales on it which affected the taste.

We hired out the whole of The Green man on Saturday 7th May for our engagement drinks. There was a minimum spend, which we left a deposit for. We didn't meet this spend, but what we liked is the fact that rather than our money just being pocketed by the pub, we got to spend it on wine to take home with us, so we don't really feel like we've had to fork out. Richard was responsive and enthusiastic from day one, and Josh and his team were great on the night, helping to make sure we had a lovely evening. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the choice of beers is good. A proper London boozer. A lot of us ate also, and there was a good selection of food and reasonably priced. We already knew how good the pub is, but our friends and family, many not from London, were all very impressed.

This pub is okay, but the service is awful. Generally speaking, you'll find yourself queueing a while for a drink because they don't have enough bar staff in duty. On a more specific note, I tried to bring a large group of diners here - I made a booking in advance, but our table was moved at the last minute, without us being told - to a table that wasn't big enough for all our diners. Two people had to go home and the rest had to squeeze in and make do! No effort was made to find any extra room at another table (despite my asking) and there was barely an apology. Interestingly, I shared this experience with a friend, who told me they'd made a booking here previously and arrived to be told they'd been double booked and could no longer have the space they'd reserved for their party. So in summary - pop in for a pint, if you've time, but don't rely on them for anything more.

We were lured here for the cider. My husband found this on some list stating it had an extensive variety of cider. It did not disappoint. We tried several varieties and they were all great. The bartender was very friendly and he let us try a few before we decided on what we wanted which I appreciated. I think overall they had around 10 different ciders, 4 on draft and then 6 others. We also enjoyed the roast while we were there. It was good and filling. We enjoyed the ciders way more though.

We made a reservation in advance of our trip to London for dinner at the Green Man. We thought the menu looked great and the pub looked lovely. When we made the booking, we were told that a different night was booked out so we presumed it popular too. We got a taxi from our hotel and the taxi man asked if we were sure this was the correct place!! Absolutely nothing like it looks on the website to begin with. Told the girl on the bar that we had booked a table, she looked HIGHLY confused and asked a colleague who also looked highly confused. They then asked our name but didn't look it up anywhere and said we must have booked for the upstairs part. We were delighted as we were hoping we wouldn't be downstairs as it was such a disaster of a place. We headed upstairs to find a whole load of empty dirty tables with no cutlery, place settings, condiments etc etc etc laid out. It was completely silent and empty of all people including staff apart from one drunk man at a table. We decided to leave and on the way down, HIGHLY surprised number 1 asked us was there no space upstairs :) :) :) HA. We explained that it wasn't set up, empty, etc. and nobody to even order from- she told us that we have to come down to order and then come back down and collect the food when it's ready and bring it upstairs. We swiftly left but at least got a great story out of it.

Came the other day for a drink and brought my boyfriend because of their really great draught cider. The guy working behind the bar asked me for any ID. As i was going to present my ID he refused to even take a look at it and asked me to present him ONLY BRITISH driving licence or British passport. As I am not British citizen and also like probably 70% of London population I am wondering how this business work if they(or only this guy as I do not want to blame another staff as I never had any issues before) accept only British documents. I never had any issues in Greenmand with presenting my driving licence(not british) or my country ID and this guy was obviously having problem with people with different nationalities. I loved to come back for drinks or food as everything was always delicious. I was very disappointed this time. And he also refused to take or even take a look at my boyfriend´s passport and just turned and walked away. I really hope that management will take more attention to this issues as this is something what could be reported on police !!!!!

I visited this pub on a weekday evening for a friend's birthday drinks. The pub is a lovely English pub with a good atmosphere but no loud music (which was definitely a bonus!) There is a very nice room upstairs where tables can be reserved and this is where our party sat. When I looked up the pub on the internet I was pleased to see that it was a cider house with nine hand pulled ciders on offer and so before ordering my first pint on arrival I asked the barmaid about the ciders She seemed surprised to be asked but described a couple of options to me, one of which I chose, However, on returning to the bar to order my second pint I asked for a different cider that the previous barmaid had already described to me as 'fizzy but cloudy'. The barman's response was 'What are you talking about?' I related my request again and was again told 'I don't know what you are talking about - what do you want?' I explained that as he worked in a cider house I would have expected him to know about the ciders that were on offer and he said 'I will get you a pint of cider' whereupon he pulled me a pint of what turned out to be Addlestones. I found another member of staff and asked her the same questions with a very similar response. Eventually a third member of staff asked me what the problem was and when I explained said 'we have some new staff tonight'.If this had been an 'ordinary pub' I may not have written this review but when a venue promotes itself in for a particular product i would expect the staff to have at least a rudimentary knowledge of that product and at the very least a willingness to find out if they do not know. The other issue that we experienced was the very aggresive 'closing' policy. I witnessed three people having drinks taken out of their hands or a member of staff standing next to them saying 'come on, drink it!' until the glass was empty - this was at 11.04pm!
