Food is the best, service is the best and atmosphere is amazing Perfect if you want to eat Chinese food

Myself and my partner travelled 70 miles round trip to have a meal here. We went as we heard a recommendation. When we arrived, we were not given a drinks menu, so I thought I'd ask if they could do a mocktail and I had one... the mocktail was just orange juice with a dash of blackcurrant squash. When we had the bill, I was astounded! a pint of draught was £5 and the mocktail was recorded as a 'drink' on the receipt, and it was £7!!! I am not one to complain, but I felt this was extortionate pricing! When I challenged this before paying I was told that the price was the price, I asked for the manager, she then stated that the drink contained lots of different ingredients, I asked what they were and it was obvious that those ingredients were not in the drink e.g. lemonade as the drink was not fizzy. She then suggested that I should've asked for the price beforehand, I challenged her by saying that I should've been given a drinks menu! She then changed the price to match a pint of draught! Also, it was my partners birthday, so I thought they may have done something little to show a celebration... Also, we heard the manager arguing with a member of staff over an issue, which put us off as well.

Had food off the a la carte menu for the first time! Great meal! Normaly come for the Buffet but the Randang and Kung Po were amazing!!!

Food is really nice. Probably the best Chinese food that I've tried in/around that area. I will definitely come here again.

Fresh quality food, Al a carte menu today rather than a buffet, my first time there today, I'll be back again. Some items a little more expensive but after eating I understand why. Staff were fantastic too from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. Thank you.

We called here as we thought it was buffet but it’s not anymore it’s just a regular menu. Service was lovely but the food whilst looking nice was subpar. It came out super quick and I could tell straight away it was all microwaved. Chicken balls aren’t meant to be stretchy :/ … it was awful and I won’t be returning.

Lovely dine in meal as ever. We had the set menu C. Food hot and plentiful ( even brought home a box). Good service and friendly host. Never too busy to find you a warm table on a cold winter's evening.

Hidden treasure! This restaurant may be out in the middle of nowhere, but the food never disappoints and the staff go above and beyond to make the experience a good one.

Outstanding all round. As a vegan it's often difficult to get a wide range of food in Asian establishments, but not here. Excellent food, excellent choice, not too expensive and a friendlier environment you wouldn't find, the owner is also a real nice person.

Visited on the 27/12/2023. Had a great time, the food was all hot, fresh and delicious. All staff were nice, polite and friendly. Would definitely recommend and will be returning.

Disappointed that the buffet is not available since covid.We had the Set Menu B with sweet &sour chicken £48. Had a few extras like prawn crackers,plain noodles and a portion of chips.It was all lovely though I've had better Crispy beef both there and other places.wont be rushing back I don't think

Empty when we went so was a little chilly inside and would have expected a bit bigger portions for the price

Being a quiet midweek night the general atmosphere was poor. The food and service was very good. Prices were competitive but their preferred method of payment is cash.

Lovely restaurant, clean, well maintained, beautifully decorated, solid tables and comfortable chairs. Food was cooked to perfection and portion sizes were good. They even have freshly made desserts. Staff are friendly and attentive, really made our night. Restaurant is child friendly, has wheel chair accessible. Toilets were spotless. Well stocked bar and drinks were properly cold. Parking available. Allergy advice available. Highly recommend.

We had not visited The Golden Well for many years and it has changed beyond recognition. The greeting was pleasant and friendly. the staff were polite and at 'the right' service level. The food was excellent both in quality and quantity (we had doggy bags). Highly recommended oriental cuisine. We had a 'B' menu for five.

We live just round the corner from this resturant and have done for several years - but only got around to ordering from here today. Glad we did as the food pleased everyone. Portions were generous and tasty. Order was a mix of food with and without meat / dairy. Plenty of choice for those that don't do animals or animal products. food was prepared speedily and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Definitely worth checking out and we will be ordering from there again.

Beautiful restaurant with stunning food and all you can eat is absolutely fantastic as you are not restricted to having to order dishes individually you can just get want you fancy and as much as you like, also have good selection of desserts. Great idea and great place.

Wonderful staff, always so friendly. We always enjoy our visit to pick up our takeaway and enjoy a quiet drink while we wait. The food is always delicious and of good quality. We have recommended it to many people already.

Not great, eaten here the other day with a mate after hearing good things, I had a beef curry and chips, chips were extra and expensive, I didn't enjoy and felt sick after it, there are so many nicer places about I'd go elsewhere, paying more doesn't mean better quality, too expensive and bland, won't eat here again.

We decided at the last moment to dine out and booked the Golden well. On arrival we were welcomed and shown to our table. The staff were wonderful and couldn’t do enough for us, the gentleman serving us even advised us that we were ordering too much as the portion sizes are very generous( and boy wasn’t he right) he had a fantastic sense of humour. The food was absolutely beautiful, all made from scratch with fresh ingredients. We would definitely dine here again.

If I could give 0 stars I would.. But to be honest the food was absolutely awful, The curry wasn’t cooked to be honest you could taste the curry powder .. and don’t get me started about the rice you could put a wallpaper up with it.. awful place don’t recommend anyone to go here…. 👎🏻👎🏻

An order for two of us, to be delivered at 6pm Valentines Day. We half expected there to be problems/delays due to the date, but no, we were not disappointed. Food we ordered arrived hot, and on time, complete with heart balloon! We went through the menu .. everything from Ribs to S/Sour Chicken, Chow Mein etc. knowing that the price (£30+) would be offset by the fact that portions are always generous, and allow for freezing of 'leftovers' to be consumed another day. Every dish was just perfect.. and we thoroughly enjoyed out Valentine meal together. Glad to see this is one Restaurant that has survived the Covid lockdown. Pleased to give them our support.

We visited with friends on Friday 27/1/23 for an evening meal. The restaurant has a very comprehensive menu and we chose the set meal 'E' for 4 people. This is different to the menu you see on line which I think must be for take away orders. The service we received was faultless. The quality of the food can only be described as outstanding and the quantity of each dish was more than ample for 4 people. We left absolutely full and very happy and we would recommend this venue to anyone

Best chinese locally Stuck away from the town and on a main road and doesn’t look too good inviting from outside But inside spotless Staff amazing and super friendly and efficient Food is the best chinese we have had locally Will definitely be back and will travel to go and get a take away in future

My wife & I decided to eat here, we have passed many times on way to Bridgend, we had the Thai chicken wings, where was the Thai in it?, we also had the spare ribs which was supposed to be in barbecue sauce,,didn’t taste like barbecue sauce, we both had Singapore chow mien , it was too dry, the one from the Chinese near us is 100% better, the staff are friendly. It’s a pity, this could be such a wow place for food, the prices aren’t too bad, I don’t think we will be going back.

The best Chinese we've had in a long time, and certainly the best around. It's just a shame about the high prices , and that they don't deliver to us. But we still order occasionally and collect, as the food and service are so very good.

Great to have a Chinese restaurant open in the day 1 to 8pm. We arrived around 3pm and picked a set menu for 2 . We were not disapointed. The service was excellent and great smiles all round. Why haven't we visited before? Loved it...

Recently visited the golden well while on holiday, one of the best Chinese meals I've had! Staff we're very friendly and the restaurant itself was very clean and well presented. It was a great family meal and a perfect finish to our holiday!

Would definitely recommend. Had a celebration family meal here, Food fabulous, service fabulous, menu choices fabulous, just go! it's worth it, staff put a candle in a dessert for the birthday girl, staff are super friendly, so happy and welcoming. Can't wait to go back.

Went here for a birthday meal and we were all disappointed with the good which was just quite bland. Fairly expensive for what we had.

Been here a few times and enjoyed. We went there last week and sadly wasn't that impressed. Food to me was like the night befores but heated up. Maybe just a one off bad one, hopefully.

Staff really nice and also very attentive and professional service. Meals are gorgeous and they can't do enough for you. Waiting time between starters and mains are adequate and you're not rushed. Also, still sticking to social distancing, hand sanitiser and wearing masks still adhered to. Very clean restaurant. If you're anxious about COVID then I recommend this place.

We ate in the restaurant. It is spotlessly clean, the food was lovely. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The tables are well distanced and has screens between tables.

Great Chinese set meals for a 60th celebration. Staff could not have been more attentive and food was cooked fresh to order.

All here for a 70th birthday party We all agreed the meals were tasteless and very expensive and we can't understand the five star reviews at all! A place to avoid, believe me!

Have been going to this restaurant on a regular basis for at least the last ten years, food, hygiene and staff excellent, would be hard pushed to find any restaurant that could come any where close to what The Golden Well have, although we are moving away from Wales we will be returning to see friends and of course to come here, will miss everything you have to offer, thank you so much for everything, Claire and John.

We went here for my husband's birthday in November and I can honestly say the food and service was lovely. I would highly recommend this restaurant and I will definitely come back again.

When I’ve eaten inside I’ve not really felt the service was very good. The takeaways however are superb. Food arrives piping hot and on time. Everything tastes delicious and fresh.

A really tasty Chinese meal, it's now a table service, excellent choice of food and everything we had was delicious! They were happy to accommodate one of our party when they asked for extra ginger in their meal & checked to make sure it was OK for them once they had rasted it. Fantastic helpful & friendly service. Will definitely be returning!! Spotlessly clean too!

First time dinner as this place was suggested, food was good quality but I feel this establishment is more setup for a buffet than ala carte dining, mainly because of the poor table service and exorbitant soft drink prices. Once everything is back to normal I might give it another go if the buffet is back up and running.

Really unhappy as picked a set meal for two but at the end finding out its per head when it doesn’t say on menu feel scammed out 80 quid I will not be eating there again set meal for 2 was 18.50 only added two thing which came to 20 so was expecting to pay 30-40 but no doubled never again
