comment_iconOpinions

I’m a bit sick and tired of low ratings for Chinese restaurants due to the “service being unfriendly” - it’s just different! Chinese folks are efficient folks, meaning typically less time for small talk and more time to get your food order into the kitchen and then to the table, clear the table and serve the next hungry customers. The food here is fantastic, albeit getting more expensive due to inflation but it’s authentic, tasty and portioned well. If you’re looking for lovely authentic dim sum in a classical Hong Kong style setting this is the place. If you’re looking for fusion food with a wine connoisseur and good discussions about where the pork was sourced then I’d recommend Nobu or something.

Been eating here a long time, and up to now, the food has been amazing. So much so, that I have recommended loads of people to visit. However, yesterday, I could not believe how bad some of the dishes were. Seaweed that was obviously old and refried. Won Ton soup that was devoid of flavour. Then spare ribs that were impossible to chew or even cut with a knife. And finally sweet and sour chicken that was so tough and dried out it was impossible to eat. We ate the seaweed and soup but sent back the other two dishes, and fair play they were taken off the bill, but very disappointingly, no one from the restaurant, and they know me, offered any sort of apology. I really hope this was a 'one off' otherwise I'll be going to Good Earth, Singapore Gardens or Tai Pan instead. Remember, customers don't always tell you when it's bad, they just don't visit any longer! I will try you again, but unless you are back to where you should be, then it will be the last time. Really hope the owner reads this!

2 of us got a take away meal. Chow mien, rice, and ribs. This was £41. Double the price we normally pay elsewhere. The rice was ok. The ribs were solid with no meat. We couldn’t bite the little meat that was there. It was so hard and overcooked. The chow mien was more like a pack of 45p noodles you buy from lidl. Very dry and tasteless. The service was also deplorable when I collected our order. £41 for 3 dishes, you expect it to be decent. Needless to say, we will NEVER go back ever again. I’d rather eat dirt!

We've been eating at this restaurant since Bang Bang foodhall reopened and always have had fantastic service and food. However, we arrived early because it was always busy then got to the desk and told the lady that there were four of us. She then asked if everyone was present - I said that they pop upstairs to take the children to the toilet and I'll order straight away once seated but she said no as it's the restaurant and owner rules???? I waited at the seating area and my family came down within 5 mins then was told to continue waiting until the tables were ready loool. Once the table was ready for us, then I called a waitress as we're ready to order and was told that we're only allowed to order one time 😶🤔😱 I compliance and even order a whole roast duck to takeaway too. NEVER I MY WHOLE LIFE THAT BEEN TOLD THAT I CAN ONLY ORDER FOOD ONCE ANYWHERE LET ALONE IN A RESTAURANT AND I HAVEN'T EVEN MENTIONED ABOUT THE FOOD+PRICE YET 😲😡😡🤬🤬 This will be our last time eating at this restaurant because it's not the price but it's about bad management putting their staff under so pressure and not valued loyal customers so goodbye and I am so glad I've experienced the true side of the service and treatment from today's lunch with my wife and two children. Be aware but I'll leave it to your judgement.... Then again - I wished the press and food environment officer's visit the restaurant themselves one weekend and experience the treatment!

Be warned though, that if your food has not arrived yet, always enquire, because the chef sometimes forgets to cook the food! Overall, decent. A bit on the pricey side, but is quite delicious. I stumbled upon this restaurant in my search for a decent place to eat for Mother’s Day, and boy was I disappointed. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was dingy and dirty. The tables were sticky and the floors looked like they hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Do NOT go to this restaurant if you value your health and tastebuds. The food was beyond terrible, it was inedible. My mother, grandmother, brother, dad and I all got food poisoning from the undercooked meats and the lack of hygiene in the kitchen was apparent from the scraps of food lying around. The staff were rude and unhelpful, showing no concern for our health or well-being. To add insult to injury, the prices were extremely overpriced for such low-quality food and service. The service was absolutely horrendous. We waited nearly an hour just to get our menus, and another hour for our food to arrive. When the food arrived it came out cold and still raw in some areas. The drinks we ordered also took forever to come, and when they did, they were watered down and tasted awful. To top it all off, we had to constantly ask for the bill and even had to get up and go to the door before they finally brought it over. And when we refused to pay the service charge, the waiter had the audacity to argue with us and say that's just how things are done there. But the worst part was when we saw the staff taking the food we had sent back from our table and putting it in takeaway containers. I can only assume they were planning on serving it to other customers or reusing it in other dishes. Disgusting! The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was dismal and depressing, making it hard to enjoy our Mother's Day dinner. I cannot believe this restaurant is still in business and I implore everyone to avoid it at all costs. I will be reporting this restaurant to environmental health and spreading the word to warn others about the horrendous experience we had at this so-called 'restaurant'. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else for a decent meal. Absolutely unacceptable. This was a terrible experience and I would never recommend this place to anyone. Save yourself the embarrassment and avoid this despicable restaurant at all costs. Trust me, you'll thank me later.

Customer Service Requires Improvement Their dimsum is no doubt very tasty, we had the prawn dumplings and the steamed pork dumplings. We will definitely come back for it. However, the Sichuan Chili Pepper Chicken was way too salty. Otherwise the food was all great. The other thing that disappointed us was the customer service. I didn’t get the lady’s name who served us but she was quite rude to us. We are 2 people not really ordering much or demanding too much but when I asked for a tap water she responded to me with ‘Huh?!’ with really irritated face. I’m not really a loud talker by nature that’s why maybe she didn’t hear me me well or maybe she was already tired (it was 3:30pm) but still my partner told me she could’ve asked me backed in a polite way. I have never experienced that kind of treatment anywhere else. I hope, this won’t happen to others.

Chinese restaurant serving standard dishes & other variations. Grim staff. Parking available. 31.8.22 Ridiculous & unacceptable wait to have to be shown to a table in a half empty restaurant! 22.2.23 Ridiculous that one has to wait to attract the attention of a waiter to order food or to be even found a table & then to sit (in a dingy corner !) in a restaurant of rude, cold & unpleasant staff who get stroppy if you don't want to pay the "Discretionary Service Charge" which is printed on the restaurant receipt! Maybe they should concentrate on making the noodles softer instead of pressuring customers to pay the SChg. or ask them to go elsewhere ! Typical attitude of gaudy establishments such as this where unacceptable staff manners is the norm & which is not certainly not acceptable in this part of the world & in the west!

We came here for dim sum due to hearing the amount of positive feedback, particularly from locals and word of mouth from those whom lived in Colindale (there is a large pocket of HK in this area). Overall, we were left unimpressed. Whilst the food was nice, arrived promptly, in more plentiful portion sizes than average and was slightly cheaper than the food sold directly upstairs in the main busy food hall itself, service was lacking and the staff treated our small group with a cold and unwelcoming attitude despite the restaurant not being too particularly busy and hectic during the late weekend afternoon. Even from the beginning as we were shown to our tables, we felt rushed and hurried to order. The dim sum was tasty and quality wise, a notch above average but we won't be returning and cannot recommend Golden Dragon due to their staff's customer service which left a lot to be desired.

Food was bland without flavour, perhaps to meet the western taste but having eaten proper Chinese, especially Cantonese food I was surprised of how bland the food is. Service was lovely and everyone took care of us. Atmosphere was the worsts. A place full of big families and small children running around, screaming and playing near your table. Service was fine and food was good overall. Similar good to what you’d get in Chinatown but about 20% cheaper. The beef meatball was prepared in a traditional style with dried orange peel and steamed on top of tofu skin. Took the longest to arrive and was a highlight. The white radishes in the 5 Spices Beef Honeycomb Tripe were barely cooked so that can definitely be improved.

If it was up to me i'd of left but It was a birthday meal of 11 people. Not once did they even ask us for drinks. We called for waiters that was walking by so we can order drinks & they just looked at us & continued to walk past without seeing us. I was fuming. The food itself was ok but not the best. There was also a mess up with our order. As we orderd so much a dish was missing & when we tried to call for a waiter to sort it again evryone just ignored us. When the bill came I explained we diden't get this dish so it needs to be removed from the bill & they caused a big scene shouting it was embarrassing so just removed the service charge & paid to get out. The place itself is dirty. Was cob webs above our table. I would never in life go back here even if it was for free. Unacceptable Experience - Mice Infestation and Dismissive Attitude I recently visited this restaurant around 9pm and was disappointed by the overall experience. As a pregnant individual, I was already feeling a bit rushed as they close at 10pm. However, what followed was truly distressing. While my partner and I were eating, we noticed a mouse scurrying across our table. This sight immediately made me feel nauseous and ruined the entire dining experience. We promptly informed the manager about the issue, hoping for a swift resolution. To my dismay, the manager's response was dismissive and lackluster. He simply stated that the mice come from outside and offered to remove the charge for the lobster from our bill. This was far from adequate, as they did not take any immediate action or even bother to contact the council for assistance. As a result of this incident, I am now left traumatised from eating outside and left with a lingering feeling of unease. The lack of concern shown by the manager towards such a serious matter is highly concerning and unacceptable. I urge the management to take this matter seriously and address the mice infestation problem promptly. It is crucial to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the dining area, especially when dealing with a pest issue. Neglecting to take immediate action not only compromises the dining experience but also poses health risks to customers. I hope my feedback serves as a wake-up call for the establishment to prioritise customer safety, hygiene, and overall satisfaction.

This place was a surprise, ngl. We've been to a lot of dim sum in Europe, and so often it's not very good, not even close to Canada or USA (and those are not as good as HK as it is). But this place was legitimately good, for Europe. The char siu sou may be the best I have ever had. They are tiny but delicious. Perfect flaky pastry and char siu done well with lots of flavour. Zhaliang were also really expertly made. Normally, I can only have one or 2 before feeling full and getting bored of them. These again had a lot of flavour. And props for not having the awful tiny dried shrimp in them. Taro dumplings were decent but not the best. We also ordered tripe, beef cheung fun, scallop wontons, and har gow. All were between good and very good. And finally: the chilli oil was hot af! 🙏 It is expensive. The cost of dim sum in the UK is astounding. We were taking a gamble here, seeing how expensive it is. Was it worth the price? No. I don't think any dim sum, like 3 dumplings for example, ever should cost $10-$12. Even the best dumplings in the world aren't. But it was pretty good quality. The service was fine, except that oddly, they don't let you add to your order. So, if you want more, or dessert -- too bad! We found that really strange and off-putting for dim sum. It's like the opposite of how it works anywhere else. Next time I would get a reservation because we were lucky we got there about 20 minutes after they opened on the weekend, but it was already 80% full. When we left, I don't think there was a single free table. Normally I wouldn't give 5 stars to a place I am not 100% about, but it was really good for England and it was such a relief to eat tasty dim sum, and so good I would come again, that I think it's worth it.

Golden dragon had microphones and speakers that we were able to use, as well as screens to display pictures on. They also provided a beautiful tea set for our tea ceremony. We had dim sum for lunch. We had rice roll with cha siu, which is the best out of all our 6 dishes. There was quite a generous amount of cha siu wrapped inside each roll. The rice roll is so soft that certainly made of only rice flour without tapioca or corn flour that would probably turn the rolls chewy and look more transparent. The small glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leaf is delicious. Ha gau is so yummy and I appreciated they put in bamboo shoots which is so rare nowadays that you can taste in other dim sum restaurants. We also ordered crab meat gyoza in soup, steamed pork ribs and chicken claws with rice and deep-fried shrimp wrapped in bean sheets. Including Chinese tea for 2 people and VAT, we spent £45 on this dim sum lunch.

I love Chinese food but have avoided it for many years because I'm not a fan of MSG/AjinoMoto, which is a standard ingredient that can make anything taste amazing. Surprisingly, many people don't even know about it. However, I really wanted to try this place and have been searching for a Chinese restaurant online for years that states they are MSG-free. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find such a place, although I'm sure it must exist. In regard to this particular place, there didn't seem to be any comments in the reviews mentioning the use of MSG, so I thought there was a chance this place doesn't use it. (Clearly, I am the Artificial Additive Avenger). I brought this up because I avoid MSG like the plague, partly due to the linked side effects and the real aftereffects I experience when I unwittingly consume it. Anyway, on to the review: First, I called to inquire if it was necessary to make a reservation. They said that for large parties during the evening on a weekday, they do not take last-minute bookings and advised me to just come. They also mentioned that they did not want to wait for people who might not show up. We arrived at 9 pm, knowing we had only one hour until the 10 pm closing time. We had planned in advance what to order to save time. We were instantly greeted upon arrival and shown to our seats. We ordered a few dishes to try everything, including lemon chicken, beef steak, roast chicken, egg fried rice (unfortunately covered in spring onions), seafood crispy noodle, squid, and some other dishes that I may have forgotten about. Normally, I would break down the scores out of 10 for each dish, but since there are so many, I thought it would be best to summarize by saying that all the dishes were good. None of them tasted like they had MSG, which made me happy (although I may be wrong about this one point). I should have just asked, but I feel quite awkward doing so in Chinese restaurants because they usually look at you like you are dumb, and I can understand why. Anyway, the main point is that everything was good in terms of the food. At one point, I accidentally dropped my apple juice as the straw got caught on my shirt. Embarrassingly, it spilled all over the table, but two members of staff literally rushed to the rescue, which showed me how attentive and on the ball the staff was. The toilets were the only thing I did not enjoy about this place due to the damp toilet smell. I thought this let the place down. The most important factor for me about this place was that I had no aftereffects from eating the food, which suggested to me that they may not use MSG since I always experience aftereffects from it. Maybe they do use it, but if they do, it must be in minimal quantities, although I would prefer zero use of it. Overall, I was happy with my experience. The staff was welcoming and attentive, and the restaurant had a nice, spacious ambience.

From the same group as Royal China in Baker Street… so if you’ve been there, you’ll know what to expect. What was a surprise was the short wait time on a Sunday. Turned up at 1pm and only waited 10 minutes. Try that in Baker Street! Food is on par with Baker Street with similar pricing. Not cheap but not at the fancier end. Three of us ate for £95 all in, and that was pushing the boat out a bit also. Added bonus is the food court upstairs if you’re still hungry and the Asian supermarket next door. Recommended!

The severs were nice but most didn't speak English very well so was hard to communicate.

I came to this restaurant for a wedding banquet meal the other night. I have to say it was the most rubbish meal I have had ever. The food was sub standard and the broth was absolutely gooey. These talentless chefs need to be sacked. Treating customers like mugs. So much for management of kitchen and food quality. Absolutely disgraceful!!!

I've been to this restaurant since before the outbreak of COVID. And I really like this restaurant's cold beef, but in 2023, when I go back to this restaurant again. It's a pity that no more cold beef, but the other dim sums are also delicious. I also ordered the lobster noodle, It tastes so good. BTW, the headache for me is even though i am asian, but I don't understand Chinese. And the staff often speaks Chinese until I'm confused. but also fun Mmde me go back to this restaurant 3 more times in 2 months.

It was recommended by our HK friends and we then became regular customer. Most of the time, the food is amazing. But today got So disappointed with their service. The Pork Stomach is not cleaned at all:) TBH initially we just wanted to give some feedback ,but the staff ( a guy) suddenly become extremely aggressive ,telling me its normal and like I am purchasing making trouble for them. when I say I want to talk to the mgr, another guy came pretend they were the mgr and also insist it is normal lining ;) Whoever cooked this by themselves know that, this is the dirty hard part above the edible lining which shall be yuthrown away. The most disgusting part is we only found it when we pack to takeaway. So disappointed!! The lady initially served us (got us seated, made order for us) was nice and friendly, and she was not in the drama happened later, when we were packing the take away and paying the bill.

Used to be good, I have now had a terrible experience with delivery twice and the food is simply terrible. Watery sauces, soggy fried squid, odd tasting meat, and the food last night had to be discarded. Never ever again, if I want a good chinese meal, I will have to visit my favourite restaurants in China Town, this doesn't even come close.

Very good food. There was a small miscommunication with my order but it was sorted out swiftly and without any problems. The waitress with the short hair and black t shirt was very nice when dealing with the situation and kept her professionalism. I will be returning.

Usually busy on a Sunday for dim sum (Chinese steamed dishes for lunch) it's nice but it can be just a little bit more expensive than other Chinese restaurant. There's parking here so that is a plus (park at Morrison supermarket carpark)

Food is just ok. 15% service charge yet the waiter was cheeky enough to ask whether I'd like to pay tips which I was under the impression there was no service charge added to the bill. So I ended up paying 20% for service charge. Doesn't sound right to me so won't come back again.

As good as their food is and service with their attentiveness, their hygiene lets them down completely. Before realising their hygiene rating is 3/5, we nearly finished all our food before finding a maggot in one of the dishes. The manager only gave us 30% discount where we was expecting a bit more to be honest, considering our disgusting experience here from our first visit with our 2 year old son, which thankfully he is fine. Also, right next to us was a dripping air conditioning from the ceiling into a bucket, where the waitress said it has been like that for a while now. Safe to say we won’t be returning unfortunately, because the food was tasty up until what we found.

A group lunch mid week. Basic menu, dishes were mediocre. Please note, free parking is limited to 2 hours, although you can download the app to pay for additional hours. On that particular day, there seemed to be a shortage of staff, took ages to get anyone's attention. Will pop back another day for dim sum or dinner. Feeling optimistic. Step free access to all toilets including disabled. Although there were some areas with tight spacing.
