The Golden Crown in Aberdeen City

Absolutely disgusting meal for Xmas Day which ended up in the bin. Doubt very much if a cook prepared it at all. Duck shredded like sawdust & taster old. King Prawns in batter soggy & undercooked Curry so set, implant of lid visible when opened. Noodles not used, due to above. 1 member ended up with sore stomach after trying above. Emailed complaint. Phoned complaint No feed back or response to- date Shocking servce & even worse food. Avouid at all costs. Stan

Ordered food at 17:15 with expected delivery of 18:05-18-20. 18:20 came no sign of food asked for update from restaurant it then changed to 18:30-18:50 agin no food by 18:50. Phoned restaurant to be told food should be 5 mins away. Phoned again at 19:15 to be told that driver had not taken food when he went on deliveries. Told them to cancel order on ubereats to be told they couldn’t and that they needed to speak to manager and they would call me back I again called them to be told they were away to call me. Again reiterated that I would need to cancel through ubereats. I done this got money back. At 19:45 get a knock on the door from their delivery driver with my food. Turned him away and he replied with he wasn’t told the order was cancelled. So not only do they not inform customers of updates they don’t tell their staff either. Shocking services will never go there.

AVOID this place. Ordered online via Deliveroo. Was meant to be delivered 00:10 waited past 1am and didn't show up until it magically said delivered on the app. Waiting in hotel lobby and no one showed. Tried to get refund from Deliveroo but they can't get through to the restaurant but when ever I call them they say contact Deliveroo as they have the money. They then tell Deliveroo that the order was in fact delivered. Disgusting behaviour - waiting till 1am for food and then being charged adds insult to injury!

Please do yourself a favour and AVOID! Was over an hour late (nearly 2 hours to arrive) only to be met with a rude delivery driver who would not hand over food until a delivery charge was paid - which had already been paid!!!!! Food was cold, greasy slop. How they though that this was acceptable to send to anyone I don't know. We couldn't even eat it when.we tried to warm.it up to salvage something. Went straight in the bin. Called to.complain and was met by.more rudeness. Awful

Worst chinese I've ever had. The chicken was slimey, the veg was black and rotten the curry was to thick and to spicy and the shredded chilli chicken must have had a whole bottle of syrup in it that it was unedible. Disgrace. Read the reviews and stay clear of this place

I am writing this review on behalf of my Grandparents, who ordered a meal to accommodate 4 people from this establishment for their 2020 Christmas dinner. When trying to complain, the Manager was abrupt, dismissive, rude and only expressed an interest in the complaint when my Grandmother mentioned that she had taken photos of the food in question. This is a very lengthy review, but I would urge people to read to the end , as my Grandparents have experienced appalling service from the manager of this establishment, and people need to know about this. They ordered & paid for 4 meals and starters over the phone. Upon collection of the order, it was clear that the order was incorrect and not up to a satisfactory standard - for example the rice orders were wrong (3 fried rice instead of boiled rice) some kind of congealed pineapple chicken dish was supplied instead of lemon chicken, the chicken omelette was salty and soggy as it had so much oil in the container, and the chips were very dry and salty. Not worth a penny paid, or worth the trouble my Grandfather took to drive to collect the order). As mentioned above, the manager was very abrupt and dismissive of my Grandmother's complaint (his initial response being "what do you want me to do about that").......Even though he could see this had ruined their Christmas meal (this was supposed to be a rest for my Grandmother who cooks the other 364 days of the year). He was very keen for my Grandmother to throw the food away, she offered numerous times to return it to his establishment, but his reply each time was to throw the food away. When my Grandmother mentioned that she had taken photos, and then went onto mention that she could post the photos on the internet, the manager suddenly changed his tune. After a lengthy phone call, it was agreed that another order could be placed, free of charge for 1st January 2021. My grandmother checked again to see if the manager wanted to see the food as proof - he said that he didn't want to see it, and they agreed that my Grandfather would collect at an agreed time. On 1st January - my Grandfather arrived at the agreed time, and nobody answered the door. Eventually somebody answered, and the manager was summoned. He asked to see proof of the original order, and so my Grandfather (bear in mind - we are talking about a couple who are in their 70's) went back to his car, got his phone and took it back to show to the manager the photos. The manager's response being "nice photos - no food" and sent my Grandfather away. In the freezing cold, on New Year's Day. Utterly disgusting treatment of a formally loyal customer. On the upside, my Grandfather happened to notice that another establishment nearby was open - Wok Wok. Even though he hadn't placed an order with them in advance they very kindly offered to cook his food to order if he didn't mind waiting. Their food was perfect, their service was second to none and my grandparents are delighted to have found a new Chinese take away that respects and appreciates their custom. So, in the words of my Grandmother - goodbye Golden Crown and hello Wok Wok.

I have used this takeaway in the past and had good meals but the chinese guy taking the order had come across as borderline rude/ignorant in the past but I had given him the benefit of the doubt. Ordered a meal last night (27 Oct 20) at 1800hrs for 2. I ordered shredded chilli chicken and also honey chilli chicken, with side portions of chips and curry sauce. My meal of shredded chilli chicken was loverly as usual but the honey chilli chicken was reported as dry by partner, and the chips were litterally dried out and inedible. So I called and politely gave feedback expressing that that the shredded cicken was loverly but fed back the negatives of the above and stated the chips couldn't be eaten. The guy retorted with I was the only complaint he had had and all the food was freshly made. I pointed out that the chips certainly did not taste or look fresh and were like cardboard and he initially thanked me for letting him know. I asked if he would be giving a credit note for my next order. I was then shocked when he rudely replied with "I don't care what you think of the food"!!! I will never set foot in this poor excuse of a takeaway again and I hope folk reading this will take heed not to either. What a rude ignorant idividual who obviously takes people for granted.

Everything was nice but you chicken curry was so salty, sorry won't be ordering again it never used to be so salty

Our order arrived an hour late. It was all very beige and distinctly average. My pad Thai was okay but absolutely nothing to write home about. Won’t order from here again.

So the food was over an hour later than described when I chose this restaurant on “just eat”! And 25 mins later than their estimated delivery time post order. The food was just the worst I’ve had from takeaway in Aberdeen in 30 years!! Yes that bad! Went in the bin ! Totally inedible!! And £27 for 2 people! Really I would want a refund .

I ordered £ 30 worth of food from this restaurant through deliveroo. On deliveroo, this restaurant is called "Golden Crown Chinese". Apart from the delay in delivery of more than 1 hour. One in six dishes was edible. It’s a shame to call it Chinese food. The crispy flavored duck was dry, not at all crispy and tasteless. The pineapple chicken tasted sour and dishwashing liquid. Even egg fried rice, they don’t know how to do it and yet it is the basis for a restaurant that calls itself Chinese. One piece of advice, absolutely avoid going there or ordering from them, especially if you have a minimum of taste buds.

An absolute chancer , paid for food then checked his menu and he’d charged more than the menu prices, him and the polish driver then laughed about it, horrible rude little B!!!!!!d

We have ordered takeaways from here many times because the food is always delicious and the portions are generous, good value for money when compared with many others. I would absolutely recommend the food. However, the last three times we have ordered from here it has been over half an hour later than the advised delivery time. Also, on arrival the driver has asked us to give him extra money for ‘delivery charge’ which we didn’t do because we had already paid it when we ordered via Just Eat. Not sure if this is due to a miscommunication between Just Eat and the restaurant, but needs looked into.

So we ordered food and after being 20 mins late my partner called to find out where our food was and she was screamed at and belittled down the phone, have ordered here before and always enjoyed it but after tonight we will NEVER eat here again and we will be telling everyone we know never to eat here, I have never heard someone speak to a customer even close to how my partner was spoken to tonight

Tried carry out, followed by an eat-in. Fancy place in a basement just south of City Center. No complaints but not as good as we thugh it would be. Service ranged from very good to adequate, food was good but not great, a bit pricey....

Popped in for a treat. Chips, chicken fried rice plain with no veg. Plain noodles and egg fried Rice too. They through in free vegetable rolls and plain crackers. Food was excellent.

We tried the golden crown for the first time because our usual takeaway was closed....wish we hadn’t bothered and won’t be trying again. Food turned up over 40minutes after estimated time of delivery and was luke warm at best, Friday night treat ruined!

Brilliant food. Have tried many Chineses in Aberdeen and couldn't find a good one until I tried this! Absolutely love it - My new regular local Chinese 😂

Great quick service. woman behind counter was lovely and gave my kids a free kit kat while we waited. Food was hot and delicious. Best take away in a while.

First time we have tried - food perfect, hot and delivered 10-15 minutes after ordering, perfect! Order through the Just Eat website, we lost our favourite Chinese that we used to use as they shut down, we have found an excellent replacement.

Went here on the way home. Staff very helpful and only 10 minute wait. Chicken fried rice, chips x2, chicken in batter, rice and sweet and sour. Great value too.
