Like stepping back in time 50 years! No atmosphere at all and no electrical devices allowed (unless you’re using them to pay 😂). Beer was cheap and alright. Much better pubs nearby.

Bar woman working today at 3pm is the rudest person I've ever come across in my life. No wonder nobody goes in the place. I understand you can't use your phone but I didn't know that and the way she spoke to me was rude. Then thought I would pay for my pint after getting a lecture no way. Rude horrible woman. So we stumbled across this little pub after a busy day. When we entered its very dated but bloody amazing. Everywhere you looked it said "no tablets, no mobiles" it was a detox pub from electronics and social media! Brilliant! We felt we were looked at as not from the area, but a chap walked in on his mobile, got told to get off his phone, he laughted- thought they were all taking the mickey, then realised everyone was serious then he left! Service was quick & polite. Not the biggest of bars but I did notice there were stairs to other areas. I didn't get my phone out to take any photos for obvious reasons lol 😆

Called in on our way back to the hotel to rest our feet. Nice choice of drinks at a good price too. There is a no phone policy 🤣 but to be honest it was good and I see why, we ended up talking to a couple of locals for the half hour we spent there. A chap came in and his phone came out 😬 he was asked straight away to put it down 🤣🤣 the concept works and why not spend a bit of time to talk to people. We'll call in again when we're passing🍻

Can't fault the Beer, the atmosphere was non existent, no phone policy is ridiculous got moaned at for attempting to look to see who had messaged me, not the cleanest of Pubs and the stench from the blokes toilets that was coming into the Bar was unbelievable, no idea why they left the door to the toilets open especially as it leads directly into the Bar area, definitely will not be returning

First time drinking here. Beer was cost effective and went down a treat. Surprised by the no phone policy but didn't phase us. But an all round friendly place. And found it humourus that in the space of an hour being there was offered all various kinds of knock off gear by a regular influx of what was obviously drug addicts in and out the place. But still enjoyed ourselves

The general Elliott leeds is a Sam Smiths pub with 2 bars 1 down stairs and 1 upstairs I went downstairs but I've been in the upstairs bar before. Downstairs is small and can get quite compact when busy it wasn't too busy when I went in. Theve got a wide selection of drinks on offer bit expensive for Sam Smiths but still a good drink no music or mobile phones allowed. I go in regular and it's decent. I prefer the upstairs bar more room and seating 💺

The General Elliot Pub was a great little pub my twin brother Stephen and I chanced upon as we were wandering around this part of town and what a great find. A lovely interior, a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room, etched glass windows, pubby decor and furnishings including plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, as its a Samuel Smith's pub the use of phones or laptops is forbidden, in these pubs conversation is king. We were here on a Thursday afternoon, we ordered Samuel Smith's " lager " these were served in excellent condition, we just kicked back ,chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub. My lager was excellent, a light, hoppy and unpretentious lager style beer bursting with taste, on a hot afternoon a totally refreshing brew and as an added bonus great value for money, I don't think there's a pub in Leeds can match this pub for price except The Angel Inn down Angel Inn Yard ,another Samuel Smith's pub. We really enjoyed our beers in here, only stayed for the one each before moving on and for a first time visit to The General Elliot Pub we had a great time. The General Elliot Pub is easy to locate along Vicar Lane. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, 11am till 11pm. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.

The General Elliot on Vicar lane is a compact pub that serves a good range of Samuel Smith's beers which are extremely well priced. Located in an area were there are many pubs the General Elliot has a traditional pub interior with a decent range of seating options surprisingly as it is a very small pub. When we visited here this pub was very busy and on entry we gave our track and trace details'that is a bit difficult in here as its a Samual Smiths pub and you aren't allowed to use a mobile phone but I think they make an exception until July the 19th when the restrictions end. When here we had a Samuel Smith's bitter which was superb and very well priced. This pub will not be to everyone's taste but it serves a decent well priced beer and is very lively and so easy to find from Corn Exchange D bus stop its a short walk. (This is my first review of the General Elliot). Opening Hours. Monday-Sunday-11.00-23.00. Hours May Differ From Above Due To The Covid 19 Restrictions Which End On The 19th Of July. Nearest Bus Stop. Corn Exchange D bus stop.

Although I visit the Angel frequently, I put off visiting this Sam Smiths pub for years due to its reputation. It's an old fashioned city tavern, a small bar and tiled taproom on the ground floor with wooden furniture. There is not much seating so be prepared to stand and lean. An atmosphere from a long-gone era of pubgoing. Trade is brisk and the clientele are a mixture of grizzled old Leeds folk and youngsters, both taking advantage of Sam Smith's excellent value drinks. The tapster Jackie is friendly and experienced, bringing calm to a sometimes boisterous venue. There are probably times where the place becomes a bit too edgy and full of louts, but it was down-to-earth, friendly and non-judgemental when I visited. They don't make them like this anymore, which is a damn shame because Leeds would be a hell of a lot more interesting for a night out if they did.

From the moment we arrived, the staff, particuarly Tara and Sophie made us feel incredibly welcome and attended to our every need with a smile and enthusaism. Went to S&C for the first time with my parents and my partner for a half-way Sunday Lunch between Leeds and Harrogate. The staff were really helpful and friendly, the atmosphere was lovely and the food was terrific. If I'm nitpicking, the only thing I would offer in terms of constructive feedback was that we specifically chose S&C because of the vegan options online, but the Sunday menu didn't offer the same variety and a vegan dessert option would have been great - but I'd be lying if I said it was a big deal. Definitely going back at some point!

The location is superb being so close to the train station . Our Hotel was a mere 100 metres away so we were really excited going after our anniversary meal for cocktails. We had been recommended to visit here by several friends so we were prepared for a fun end to the evening . Great welcoming bar atmosphere and cheerful , helpful staff helping us select something to suit our taste from the extensive menu . Sad!y the preparation of all cocktails ends with completely filling the glass with ice then pouring in the concoction to rest towards the bottom of the glass . It didn't take long for our drinks to start being weakened by the melting ice and left me grimacing at the taste at the end . Sadly this was our only drink as we left to try somewhere else .
