Mat behind the bar was an absolute superstar, always helpful and happy. Never a bad experience at the gate the staff and management are awesome

Went to the quiz on a Thursday night had a good laugh with old friends the food was amazing bar staff made the evening especially the quiz master mat

Came in to the pub at the weekend when it was sunny was very busy but the food was amazing and the staff was lovely very welcoming nice family pub brilliant beer garden for family’s good selection off drinks and food.

Good food, staff are always friendly and happy to help. The monthly acts never disappoint great pub.

Fab meals and service all round for our party of 9 (adults and kids). All came out hot, fresh and at the same time. New menu items are fab aswell.

Amazing food and nice relaxing atmosphere, we had a group of 9 (adults and kids) and everyone of us loved it, also got a nice little park for kids to have fun in while parents relax, and lovely outdoor areas for your sunnier days.

The pork tomahawk is absolutely perfect. And the rainbow lasagne is the best veggie meal

Monday lunch so a bit quiet. Staff friendly and efficiency. We had the pork tomahawk and seasoned salmon on sizzling vegetables. Both meals were sizzling and piping hot, really delicious and satisfying. Excellent thanks.

What a lovely pub/restaurant we have eaten here about 7 or8 times the food is excellent. Staff really helpful and drink good. You can ask to swap things on your meal and it's never a problem. Good allergy information couldn't ask for more.

Pop into the gate inn at Swinton this afternoon. There is a wide range of meals on and the offer of 2 meals for £11.50 is really good if you are on a budget. The atmosphere is nice and cozy and quite for a meal at lunch time. The staff are friendly and attentive, was served by a young man called mat with ginger hair he was very welcoming and warm. Was a very enjoyable time for all of us in are party defiantly will be back again.

Come in for food and drink today and it was top notch, can’t complain about anything, we’d definitely be revisiting, we were served by a lovely pair Chloe and mat they were fab

Come in for Monday club and the price is spot on and a really good pint, been served by Chloe and mat and what a pleasure they are, ordered food to takeaway it's always lovely

Got a ice cream gave me the wrong one also asked for an other ice cream with no sauce and gave me sauce I got a 8oz sirloin steak it was so chewy , black and crispy it was horrible for rare worst steak ever!!!

I enjoyed a wonderful evening Friday at The Gate Inn in Swinton. A wonderful welcome from the management team led by Scott and Heather. The Cher impersonator rounded off a great evening good food good beer.The Welsh chap behind the bar was a bit strange but I'll be back next week.

My wife & I have been to this Inn quite a few times now & have enjoyed each of the meals we have had so far -the only improvement I would recommend for us to give it a 5 star rating is that the interior decor be brightened up as it looks quite dull and outdated when you are sat eating

Absolutely fantastic experience at The Gate Inn! The service was top-notch—friendly, attentive, and efficient. The beef rib was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. To top it off, the drinks were reasonably priced, making it a great spot for an enjoyable meal without breaking the bank. Highly recommend and can’t wait to return!

Wow the chicken tandori sizzler is amazing👌 10/10

We came here yesterday for Christmas Day dinner. We were greeted and seated by a very friendly gentleman. The starter arrived quickly and we both had prawn cocktail. This was absolutely beautiful and there were plenty of prawns and the bread and cucumber were super fresh. I ordered the beef and sadly it was BBQ beef and did not come with Yorkshire puddings as described on the menu. I really don't like BBQ sauce and wouldn't have gone for dinner if this has been made clear on the menu. The vegetables appeared to be frozen and some were still hard in the middle. We were not table checked till the end so I couldn't raise this. My husband loved his salmon and therefore overall it was ok. I just wish the menu had reflected the beef was in BBQ sauce as I gave it to my husband. I was so disappointed after such a great starter. We will visit again as this is local to us and all the other times we have eaten here have been great. It might have been nice as well to have some festive tablecloth and napkins and the TV playing Christmas songs as the snug is quite dark and it just didn't feel very Christmasay.

Didn't have food but went to meet up and have a drink. Lovely atmosphere

Had a disappointing meal here today. It wasnt busy, despite being a Saturday lunchtime, but felt the wait for our food was a little longer than expected. I ordered the chopped salad but was disappointed as there were items in the salad which werent listed in the menu, and also items in the menu that weren't in the salad. I also opted for the additional rump steak topping, and I would have at least expected to either be given a steak knife (which I wasnt offered) or even better would be for it to already but cut into strips and laid on top of the salad for nice presentation. Instead, it was just lumped on there. The salad was so basic I didnt eat it. Disappointed as I've been here before and had a lovely steak salad with lovely dressings, pomegranate

Great service and great food at a great price. GREAT! We'll be back 👍🏻 I'm unsure of any names of staff but the 2 ladies behind the bar, the chap who brought our food and the chap who initially welcomed us and sorted our table were all equally friendly and helpful, nothing was a bother. We were a 2 adult 1 child group and we're able to swap to table 19, even though we arrived 20 minutes late and they were quite busy, everyone made our visit special.

Great staff here with great food and a great pint. From the moment you step foot in the door, you are made to feel welcome by all the team and all the regulars, (who will just talk to anyone.) This place is brilliant.

Had to leave my drunk the football was so loud, we couldn't talk to each other over noise, this is not a sports pub it's supposed to be a family pub

Visited The Gate today with the family, was greeted by friendly staff members. Sat outside in the garden area was provided with a heater on request. Food amazing i would highly recommend

After being given the wrong order twice, I settled with the food given however, the chicken was luke warm at best. My partners meat was the same too. Very disappointed in the food and it ended up being left!

I visited the Gate with some friends and our children. Very nice place, great park for the children. We were served by Matt who was a very attentive, polite, happy member of staff who explained deals that had on that day for both food and drink. Great afternoon and a special thank you to Matt we will be back!

Had a meal outside since the weather was nice, food was gorgeous, we all thoroughly enjoyed a starter, main and just about managed to fit in dessert. Lovely family meal out, kids enjoyed playing in the park area, free parking as well as disabled parking too, what's not to like 😀

Regrettably took the choice to eat at The Gate Inn at Swinton today. Really poor service. Me and my partner ordered food at 7.11pm and waited over an hour until 8:45pm. Once it had just gone over an hours wait I decided to go to the bar and ask where our food was, only to be told that the orders had stopped at 7pm. Luckily I had ordered through the app and had no issues, the app let me order, pay and a confirmation email was sent. So I could show this too them. I was told my order had in fact gone through and was assured it would be with me shortly. The staff must have just whipped up our meal at this point as we were still waiting on the food 30 mins after this point, so I then returned to the bar to ask when the food would be coming out as it was getting later and later at this point. I was then told the food would be 5-10 more minutes at 8.30. The food finally came at 8.45 and was average at best. The staff did not once come out to acknowledge us or the fact we had been waiting on the food so long. We were also not told/warned anything about the food having a long wait/any delays. Very poor service.

Four of us Went there last Wednesday got there about half past four, food & service was very good, but the experience ended badly we decided to go outside and have another drink, I went to the bar their was 3 bar staff serving in the other side I was in little room at the front of the pub, waited about 10 mins one of barstaff came through from the other side, she walked out of the bar and went outside for something, when she came past me she told me I was in the wrong place to get served, all four of us left and went to another pub...

good food and drink and great catering service from the regular staff. however it is the first time a presumed manager has come up to me and my friends after serving a half full drink and then coming back to complain that different people order their drinks on the app instead of all on one bill. Don’t understand how that is a problem if they have a scan code on the table if you don’t want people ordering on separate phones.

The pub itself isn't bad, classic cosy pub-like vibe. The staff were friendly enough. It was the food that let it down. But not all the food, which was strange. We ordered a couple of steaks, fish and chips, with extra sides. Everything was pretty good except for the steaks, you know, the good bit, they were destroyed. My daughter's "rare" steak was medium-well and my "medium" steam was beyond well done, you know, that boot leather well done. I left half of my steak and my daughter left her entire steak. What made it worse was, when the chap came to pick it up after we had finished, he'd paused for a second, looked at the plates, then just picked them up and wandered off. We were never asked if everything was ok, or more importantly, "is there any reason you left and entire steak?". We didn't complain, we paid and moved on. Take from this what you will :)

Friendly staff & good prices. The gate is a lovely, local boozer! Quite sport orientated so you can always catch something on the big screen.

Very short staffed, only 2 staff on, it was a busy Friday tea time. Had to wait over an hour for food, we’ve tried. Few times and found it understaffed on every occasion, we will definitely not be returning

Male bar staff behind bar who served me could have been more pleasant and helpful.I cannot sign into the sizzles app I have (although not is fault) a polite answer would have been appropriate ,what's the point in having offers and deals if not all members can't access them .

Not eaten there, but call for beverage, good varied selection of beers/lagers, TV's usually showing sport, nice friendly atmosphere.
