We went for breakfast on Sunday 9 July only to be informed that a hot breakfast wasn't available even though it was advertised on a billboard. Sausage rolls cooked in a microwave were cold. The scone I ordered wasn't fresh. What a disaster - why open for breakfast at all. We'll go back to Nikki's in Newcastle from now on

Quite a varied menu with good selection of fare from tea and scones up to a meat and 2 veg lunch. Had the Open Prawn Salad, very substantial and good value for money. Helpful and friendly staff, well worth a visit.

Another great visit to The Garden Cafe. This place is becoming a regular lunchtime destination. Table service now in place and had the best Winter Berry latte made by the best barrista in Downpatrick, Niall. Also had one of the best curries ever made by Maria. Great place to visit, great atmosphere and will be back soon

Top quality cafe situated upstairs in the Saint Patrick Visitor centre in Downpatrick. Very friendly staff and top quality food. There’s a great choice of options and plenty to choose from for vegetarians and vegans too.

Went for lunch with my sister and took the kids, we ordered chicken burger and a beef burger, both where cooked perfectly dressing was good. kids ate all there chicken and chips and they are fussy. Only thing is that the waiting staff should be a bit more friendly and welcoming and also familiarise where customers are sitting, it’s a bit off putting watching your dinner doing a lap of the garden then the dining room before arriving to your table.

You can choose to eat inside or outside in the garden. Either choice is lovely. Very nice atmosphere. Homemade pies and other delicious choices. This is a good place for a break from touring or a lunch stop.

Called in for lunch for 2, bright pleasant atmosphere. With striking gardens. Fortunately the mind numbing loud music was off today hopefully it will stay off. Food is fairly good and very reasonably priced. Yes I would recommend. Staff that served me were excellent and showed great customer care skills which for me means leaving a good tip. Frequently visited by overseas callers giving an international ambience. I wish the cafe well.

Called in for a coffee and a snack before our train ... ordered for 6 of us .. coffee hot chocolate tray bakes etc... they started to make this for us then asked what tour group we were with ... we weren't with a tour and we were politely told that the coffee shop was only for your parties... we left! Not sure what they were going to with 6 half made hot drinks! Welcome to the Downpatrick welcome centre!!

Don't expect a cup of tea after 4pm. Paper cups and food on a serviette to eat outside when we got there at 3.55pm, even though seating area still occupied. And why did they try to charge 50p for a debit card contact only transaction. Everything seemed too much trouble for them - not exactly the spirit of St. Patrick

Spoilt for choice with delicious cakes and traybakes. Friendly caring staff particularly the lovely girl on the till and Peter who regularly checks that everything is good. Recommend Rocky roads and caramel squares also Tate Apple cinnamon and raisin pie. Only One disappointing was a coissant offered up by the manager which was hard and took me quite by surprise.

The restaurant is upstairs in St Patrick's Centre and it's a beautiful space with wooden beams and big, tall windows. The service was warm, welcoming and really efficient. My Dad ordered chicken curry which came with rice and chips and he loved it and even managed to eat it all, I had vegetable broth with wheaten bread and my husband (an expert in these matters) declared his sausage roll the best he'd ever eaten. My son ate the fish finger, beans and chips (lots and lots of chips) and my mum a baked potato. There, catered for all tastes and we all were more than happy. The added bonus is that all profits go to care for those with disabilities in the local area. If you're near Downpatrick it's worth a vista.

The Garden Cafe is situated on the first floor within the St Patrick's Centre in the middle of Downpatrick. I have ate here several times over the last few weeks and every time have been impressed with the quality of food, level of service, friendly staff and the bright, airy surroundings. Ate outside once in the walled garden which was very pleasant.Good selection on the menu, everything from snacks to full meals, or just a coffee with a tray bake. Free wi-fi and newspapers as well.I think this place could really flourish with a bit more advertising as some locals don't even know about it!

This is one of our favourite spots for lunch in Downpatrick. The cafe is light, bright, with lots of space, plenty of tables and comfy seating too. The garden views are lovely and on a warm day you can eat al fresco. We often go for the soup - probably the best vegetable broth and wheaten bread around. Lots of choices of main courses and great salads, yummy home-made cakes and gluten free alternatives too. The staff are just lovely - always cheery and very helpful. Can highly recommend it.

If you are ever in Downpatrick the Garden Cafe is a must stop if you want to eat well presented good food, delivered by cheerful staff, in comfy uncrowded seating areas under natural light. I reckon it is excellent value for money. WiFi is free too. The cafe is found upstairs in the wonderful St Patrick's Centre right in the town centre. It offers pleasant views outside into well maintained gardens. There is plenty of parking nearby and you are a stone's throw from St Patrick's Grave, The brilliant Down Museum and the Railway Museum- and of course the local shops. You will not be disappointed. The Garden Cafe is a new social enterprise managed by Stepping Stones NI. This is a place that gives folk with learning difficulties the chance to aspire. Good on those that had that original vision.I would not consider going anywhere else for a cuppa or something more substantial.

Went to the Garden Cafe for lunch with my Granny on a Thursday afternoon. First thing I noticed was the Cafe was nice and bright with lots of windows and a nice Garden outside. You can order between sandwiches and various hot food specials, I decided to go for the chicken curry. It was very nice and even had pineapple in which I thought was unusual but added to the meal. Overall a nice experience, friendly staff and good value.Would recommend.

Although this little bus station cafe is small and always busy because of those who are passing through, I can honestly say some of the best coffee in Downpatrick is served here. Very reasonably priced, and they have specials on regularly to suit the season. Even if you're not making a trip anywhere, stop here for a lovely brew and a fresh baked good or confectionary of your choice to carry you through your day.

Great as they are registered with Coeliac UK, which means they cook my pizza separate and safely. Staff very pleasant.
