Came here on Sunday with my dad, husband and two golden retrievers. Immediately met at the door by a lovely lady who made a big fuss of our dogs and gave them both a sausage which was happily received! We all ordered a standard breakfast which came quickly and was brilliant value for money and expertly cooked. More sausage treats were brought out for our goldies and even the chef came to have a chat about his dog at home. Would definitely return, given by all the attention i doubt our girls will walk past the door 😊😊

Called for lunch whilst in town, Hubby saw the homemade fish cakes on the menu, and said 'YES!, these came with chips, 2 dips, & choice of veg, he chose cauli & carrots. The fish cakes were chunky smoked haddock, he really enjoyed them. I chose a ham & onion toasty, which came with salad & coleslaw, it had plenty of filling, A pot of tea & a coke were our drinks of choice, the staff were really nice and there was 60's music & even older! playing in the background, hubby could'nt believe how many of the songs I knew as I sang along [luckily the cafe was'nt too busy] to hear me. The toilets were clean and tidy & the ladies had an unusual 'Infinity' mirror.

Cannot really complain about the food. What I ordered was lovely, however, I also ordered a pot of tea for one. It arrived in a stainless steel pot on a small stainless steel tray, both of which were filthy. The cup was warm but had stains on the outside and inside. I asked for a replacement, what arrived in its place was no better. The stainless steel milk jug handle was broken and the handle of the tea pot was hot so I had to wait for it to cool down before I could pour it. I wanted a hot cup of tea, not a warm one. No attention had been paid to the cleanliness of the beverage items which spoiled my dining experience.

Initially you are hit with dated decor and a damp musty smell. If you’re brave enough to sit down you will be handed a menu covered in grime - everything is sticky!! The tables, the seats... the salt and pepper shakers are covered in ____. I had my chance to get up and leave but when the waitress/owner came over to take our order and had a mouth full of food I knew I had to stay and see what happened next. Once we had ordered our food the atmosphere was really sinking in. I found myself frozen and uncomfortable as I didn’t want to move or touch anything. The drinks then came to our table and the tap water had been put in a jug with ice, which was nice until I realise the black lid on the pouring jug was covered in white crust. After pouring a glass I realised the water had floating bits in it almost like bits of lemon (not lemon). The Coke was flat as ____ and at this point I was ____ myself. The food was then brought by a different waitress and she seemed very approachable, presentable and as smiley as she could be working in those conditions. The tuna toastie was dripping with grease. It was bland and no effort had gone into making it however it was warm. The beef baguette. ____ me. The cow was definitely dead, Gandhi’s flip flop comes to mind. The beef was so over cooked and had clearly been Sunday roast leftovers. We left around 3 minutes after the food had been placed on the table and I genuinely felt robbed. You couldn’t pay me to eat that food and sit in those conditions. Avoid this place at all costs.

We nipped in here for lunch and are glad we did. The food was beautifully presented and tasty, if a little pricey. The home-made scones were amazing! Brought piping hot from the oven, it was worth the visit for them alone. The staff were very friendly and offered to wrap up our sleeping daughters food to take out with us. The cafe itself looks like its only been half modernised - the toilets weren't great - but that's only a small complaint.

First impressions were not great when we were handed grubby menus and the overall impression was that the decor was tired. The staff were friendly and helpful and we decided to give the place a chance. The food was excellent, hot and plentiful and it was clear that there was a returning clientele who appreciated the food on offer. I did make the point about the menus to a waitress who said they were renewed every two weeks. I found that hard to believe.

We called in here for lunch and were not disappointed. This place has a very warm, amiable atmosphere and the service was excellent. Our food was good, wholesome fare served in generous portions. The place could do with a bit of a facelift as the decor was a little 'tired' although kind of added to the quaint charm of the place! It's a busy little place, clearly popular with locals and passing trade. Well worth the money-we will definitely go again when next visiting Southport.

This place used to be my no one when in Southport. Where did the homemade chips go? They were lush! Now they're nondescript frozen type... Welsh rarebit used to be great, but this was on cheap, thin bread. £24.00 for two average lunches with soft drinks us too much. Also, staff played on phones and were not at all attentive. Such a shame as used to be great... Hungry Monk for me now.

Came across this place by chance today, not a soul about when we arrived apart from the very welcoming staff so we decided to stay for lunch. Good menu, plenty of choice without being overwhelming, great to be given a choice of veg instead of obligatory peas and carrots, ideal for me on a well known eating plan too so was able to choose new potatoes over chips, roasties or mash. I had sea bass which was on special and my other half had the grilled haddock.I can't finish the review without mentioning the service. Very attentive, very speedy and very considerate, she couldn't do enough for us. I worried all this was going to cost a lot but between us we had a main course each, one pudding for him and tea and coffee and it came to less than £20, which was a bargain. It isn't fine dining, but it is very good value, and if you are dieting and want low fat choices, there are lots here to choose from, without having to resort to salad and jacket potato.

The Gallary (correct spelling) and its advertising boards offering home made food caught our eye as we passed by during a day trip to Southport. We decided to give it a try and were pleasantly surprised,Many of the meals on the menu were advertised at two for £10 so we chose liver and onions and home made smoked haddock fishcakes and two hot drinks - the bill coming to just over £13. The meals took a little while to arrive but the restaurant is very popular and therefore very busy. Both meals were served with a choice of vegetables, a choice of potatoes and the fish cakes came with salad and a chilli sauce. The food was piping hot and served by very pleasant staff.A couple of minor points I would mention is that I couldn't see the Food Hygiene Rating which most place in the window, and the windows and a glass dessert stand by the door would have benefitted from a clean and shine but overall this is a great place for lunch and we would certainly return if we go back to Southport.

I must admit that I was surprised to find that this place had only 3 reviews on TA and I think it's a shame because it deserves a lot more praise. There wasn't any particular reason that we chose The Gallary to eat other than we were hungry and liked the look of the menu choice as we walked past. It is just off Lord street into the town and easy to find. There were a few people eating but it was a bit between mealtimes (about 3.30pm) so the restaurant wasn't crowded... Service with a smile was the immediate impression we got which in my opinion gets infinite Brownie points straight away. Every young waitress was very pleasant as they went about their business. We both went for the homemade curry with rice and I'm as certain as I can be that it really was Homemade not from a tin. Nice tasty sauce, plenty of chicken and the rice was perfectly done, not a great stodgy lump as you often get with pre cooked and warmed up stuff. A few people came in after us and being a bit nosy I did take a sneaky peek at of a couple of meals that others were brought (don't tell me you haven't all done it at some time!) The liver dinner and the Sunday roast both looked very appetising and there was plenty of it. This isn't a greasy spoon café it's really good quality, freshly made meals with great service and all at a very good price. £10 for 2 curries special offer and most mains around the £6 mark when we went. If you get the chance it's well worth a visit and I think the Gallary will go climbing up the TA eatery ranks.

Love coming here to eat, I try and go as often as I can as it is one of my favourite places to eat at. Always welcoming, lovely atmosphere and most importantly fantastic food! I came here with my partner for my birthday again recently, I don’t like a fuss so my partner had not mentioned it was my birthday when booking. After conversations with staff and it being my birthday came up, the two lads came back with a smelly set and sweets to wish me a Happy Birthday which was a lovely a gesture. You honestly will not be disappointed coming here, I would eat here every night if I could afford it!!
