We haven’t been to the Palace for a meal for nearly a year and decided to go this evening. We had the front room to ourselves. The lady that served us was really nice and helpful. Food was lovely. All of us thoroughly enjoyed it and was worth every penny. Fully COVID compliant!

I had afternoon tea with 3 other family members last Monday and could not fault it in any way. The food was really good and very well presented. The waitress was very attentive. We were offered refills of coffee and tea a few times which is not the case at some other establishments. When we were finished we asked if the waitress would box the cakes that we had not managed to eat so we could take them home and again that was not a problem. The price was reasonable. I would certainly recommend anyone thinking of having an afternoon tea to give the Palace Hotel a try.

To celebrate my husband's birthday we dined at the Front Room in the Palace Hotel - as always you are warmly welcomed by the very efficient and friendly staff into the delightfully decorated lounge to partake of pre dinner drinks if required. After perusal of the very exciting menu you are escorted to your table in the "Front Room" - excellent ambience.Food is par excellence and served by very professional staff. We chose the ham and the beef which was served with the usual tray of delightful vegetables.I would highly recommend a visit to the Front Room but booking is recommended since opening hours are limited.

I have been here several times before, but normally with a group. This time it was just my wife and I, on a Saturday night, leaving the sprogs to their own devices (with grandparents trying to stop them!)A nice G&T to break the ice - a choice of about 5 gins to choose from, and ordered in the small lounge. She had the crab starter and a main course sized portion of scallops (normally a starter, but the staff were happy to oblige). I had an avocado salad then an excellent steak, washed down by a glass of a rather good Rioja. The restaurant was (surprisingly) quiet, and the scallops were cooked in front of you. Service was excellent - attentive but not in your face.To round off she had the crepes (cooked for you) and I had my usual cheeseboard, then an Irish coffee to wash it all back with (hic)Total was about £120 - not cheap, but well worth it

Booked late and they accommodated my single table with good organisation and communication. 3 course Sunday menu at £24.95 including a good old fashioned carvery trolley. Great service by the 3 members running the bar and food operation. Nice g and t with the glass being taken to my table when starter was ready. Good melon plate followed by main carved from the trolley, nice beef and pork with lots of veggies (roasts needed much more cooking though!). Finished off by a nice and rather large portion of pud!Fantastic value and service and it pays to book ahead.Recommended.

We had Stawberry Afternoon Tea for over 40 people to celebrate our Ruby Wedding Anniversary. We had 11 children with us hence the reason we chose an afternoon tea. We had a fabulous tea with pastries to start followed by various sandwiches, a chocolate delicacy, followed by scones with cream jam and strawberries and then some fancy cakes. Everything was delicious with copious amounts of tea or coffee. The staff were excellent and accommodated us with last minute requests and were patient with all the children. The young waiter was great and showed initiative by checking with the adults before asking the kids what they wanted to drink to ensure they were allowed what they asked for. Had a wonderful meal with friends from Aberdeen on Sunday last. They and we were very impressed with the meal and the staff could not be more helpful and friendly. The restaurant was full which did not surprise me. It is some time since I last dined at the Front Room and the improvement in all areas was impressive. The only small point I would make is in respect of the massive amount of vegetables and potatoes. We were a party of 4 adults and 1 child and had enough vegetables to feed double that number. The amount of waste must be massive and I am surprised that no one behind the scenes has not noticed the amount of coming back, and adjusted the portions accordingly. Other than that we had a wonderful meal.

This is not the first time The Palace has disappointed us. It will however probably be the last. No problem with the waiting staff, although we did have to prompt somebody to take our order - and it was by no means crowded. Waiting almost half an hour for food to be served lukewarm is really not acceptable - especially when it's fish, which doesn't take that long to cook in the first place. Staff were apologetic, but still no excuse.

We lunched upstairs above the bar accessed via a spiral staircase, quite charming wrought iron and stained glass decor although almost no natural light. We had exceptionally friendly and willing service which coped well with an almost full restaurant. We had soups and herrings and salads, all very well done, and the chef even obliged with a serving of haggis, which was not on the menu, but without which no visit to Scotland is complete. There was a good selection of wines, even if the white wine could have been slightly colder. The whole meal had the sophistication of a much larger town at very fair prices. No wonder it was full at a midweek lunchtime.

This was our first visit to "The Front Room", the speciality dinning room that is located in the Palace Hotel. There was a little wait for the order to be taken although it seemed quiet at the time. The dining room has a nice decor, with a large grand table in the centre which was used by the staff to prepare some of the food. The food itself was lovely. I ordered the scollops which is one of the dishes that you can see being prepared by the staff at their table in the centre, it was cooked beautifully but maybe a bit too much creamy sauce, especially when I was't offered more bread to help mop it up. My fellow diners had the duck and salmon starters which looked delicious. I had the vegetable gateau for mains, which was beautifully presented and had a tomato fondant served with it which had a subtle spicyness too. My fellow diners ordered the veal steak and the rock turburt which both looked delicious. Puddings were great, Crepes were prepared in the room and we were given generous portions of cheesecake. We had ordered some coffees for afters which did take a moment to arrive, but it was busy by that point and with only 2 staff it was understandable and forgivable. Would recommend to anyone looking for some really nice food in the peterhead area.

Not always the easier thing to do at the Palace. Everytime I attempt to make a booking via telephone I'm adivsed sorry no tables left. Say, I call up and try to book a table for two at 7.00pm, the phone will take forever to be answered and then I'll be advised, "sorry we have no tables free this evening". I'll then say "OK I'll thank you" and suddenly they have a table free for 7.30pm, which was the time that I tried to book for in the first instance. Sort this out Palace Hotel manager. One thing Peterhead lacks is a decent place to eat and the Brasserie in the Palace Hotel is no exception - dark and dreary - cleanliness is debatable - they don’t know what heating is - customer service like the food is a hit or miss - I love fish and it is risky taking fish here as whoever does the ordering/cooking does not know what Haddock is and think it’s OK to serve Pollock or Whiting and even Hake is acceptable without advising the customer

What can I say? Beautiful food served in a very beautiful room, felt like I was in a top restaurant in London not Peterhead! The staff bent over backwards to serve, a credit to the Palace. The food was to die for,we were given some locally smoked salmon and a choice of lovely breads while we waited on our starter, I had the langoustine galliano and my partner had the salmon terrine as starters both delicious. for our main we had the garlic infused encrusted rack of lamb, served with a beautiful selection of vegetables, this was carved at the side of our table, I am not a lamb lover but this was to perfection, would definitely have it again, for our desserts I had Drambuie creme brulee with orange compote and irn bru ice wow is all i can say, my partner had the sticky toffee cheese cake with vanilla ice cream, this was also to die for. When we had finished our meal we went through to the Front room bar where the staff again showed excellent customer service, all the Diners were chatting about how lovely their meals were.We settled our bill which was reasonably priced considering what we had eaten, would definitely recommend to anybody visiting peterhead or from Peterhead.
