Lovely atmosphere, the food is reasonably priced and you yet lunch deals, the only problem is that the coffee included in a lunch deal is instant, and for a ground coffee or latte you would need to pay extra. Also the breakfasts are lovely, small size was just right for me.

OK, so the concept sounds great and food was OK and also very good for the price. Improvements: *they advertise blue light discount but don't do it, please remove it *menus were dirty and incomplete, they were wipe clean though so an easy fix *Sitting at the back, there was a few conversations overhead which I didn't really want to hear from staff

First time been in but definitely not the last food was lovely, presentation was great and value for money was unreal. Thank you all

Had a wonderful breakfast here. Served really quickly and Tracey was lovely. Really enjoyed ourselves with a great chilled out atmosphere. 10/10 would recommend.

Just a big well done to the 2 new trainees who were working under difficult conditions on 1st June. A baptism of fire that’s for sure. They remained professional even though they were under massive pressure, dealing with some difficult customers. If they can cope with that they will make great waiting staff. Well done to the manager ( Hannah I think). She did her very best to appease everyone. Sometimes you have to take a deep breath as a customer and realise these guys don’t always have an easy time.

Not the cheapest but quality food in our fry ups, bacon,sausage,black pud,fried egg,mushroom,tomato,hash brown(properly cooked which is not often the case in cafes, beans, toast and a tea or coffee. All nicely done. Recommended.

Amazing quality food, far exceeds expectations for a cafe lunch. Beautiful venue with a social mission, a real gem in Middlesbrough.

Stopped here for a coffee and a snack with the wife and felt very comfortable. We both enjoyed the atmosphere.

We visited as a family for breakfast for our first visit and will definitely go again.the staff were very pleasant and patient with our young family member,the breakfast was amazing and coffee was lovely.some place’s arnt child friendly but this place was 😊.looking forward to our second visit

Having visited this restaurant before and having enjoyed it, it was disappointing to see that things have gone downhill. We went for lunch and the restaurant was not busy. We were not greeted on arrival and were not offered drinks. After waiting for 40 minutes the (unsmiling)waitress finally came over and I had to ask for an extra menu so that we could all look at the same time. She then told us that all orders had to be placed at the bar, which was news to us. On ordering at the bar, we were incorrectly charged for 2 out of the 3 orders, so she had to ask for help to put this right. We were still waiting for drinks when the food arrived and had to ask again for these. Prices are fine, but this restaurant won't last the course unless service improves. Opportunities are being missed. Since we last visited, the 'specials' are no longer offered, which is a great pity. Sadly, we are unlikely to return.

After visiting many restaurants on a weekend in Middlesborough, Yarm, Norton , North Yorkshire for breakfast / brunch - The Folk in the road for us stands out a mile by far for us ! I honestly can’t stress enough how much you need to visit The Folk in the road !

First class food, first class service, reasonably priced. I can’t recommend highly enough. Will definitely be going back. 😋 Enjoy.

Overall a very smart business lunch. Ideal venue for a few professionals to munch n crunch numbers. Meals well prepared and served and staff very accommodating.

We wanted to visit for lunch with some rather elderly friends and we were disappointed that they don’t take bookings as our friends would find it hard to wait for a table. However the staff were very helpful when we contacted them on Messenger and said they would certainly have a table for us at the time we wanted, 1pm. We turned up on the dot of 1:00 and the restaurant was almost empty, so no problems with seating! The menu was varied and we all found something we liked the sound of and ordered by 1:10. There was only one lady taking orders and making drinks (non alcoholic only, unfortunately now - why?) and we only saw one other staff member, I guess somebody else was in the kitchen? However, although our drinks arrived fairly quickly, no food arrived until 2:00., then one order was wrong! It was quickly corrected and the food was nice, although the hollandaise sauce on my eggs Benedict was oddly sweet. But fifty minutes to produce four meals, one being a sandwich and two others which must have been already cooked, is just daft, especially when there were only about five tables occupied at the most. We really wanted to like this place, as we think it’s aims are excellent, but it really can’t expect people to return unless it can provide a better service.

Went here as quite a big group of friends and I couldn’t praise it enough. The food was great and the staff were more than happy to help with anything we needed. Lovely lovely staff.

Popped in for lunch had crab cake Starter was very nice the followed with a lamb shank which was outstanding, huge portions too. Best restaurant around !

I read the reviews beforehand so I was expecting more. Menu very limited, food very average. Sorry but I will not be returning.

Had a great lunch here would definitely recommend. Good service and really great food. Shared crab cake starter, steak for mains with fantastic chips but there etr far too many.

Looked for pre - theatre eats and alighted on this because of the ethos and good reviews. Although preparing for some works parties we were made welcome and drinks were served quickly. Reduced menu cos Christmas but still good choice. We had the sharing antipasta starter which was lovely and then fish and chips for me and the famous parmo for my companion. Both were rated excellent, finished with coffee and the bill was most reasonable. When next in Mboro.........

Visited Fork in the Road with a colleague during a stay in Middlesbrough. I was blown away with the standard of service and food. Excellent shared starter platter followed by Lamb Shank for me and the famous Chicken Parmo for my colleague all washed down with a great priced bottle of Rioja. The chef Jamie and the waitress Gemma were both graduates of the Fork Academy and were just terrific. I would recommend Fork to anyone looking for a great meal that supports a great cause.

Wow! I have just been bowled over by this restaurant. I had the antipasti starter, beautifully presented and the hand made hummous was a dream. The fish and chips were a revelation to this jaded palette. The fish was wonderfully fresh and chunky, coated in a light batter and served with hand cut chips and a grilled lemon slice, a nice touch.

This place is a gem! Had coffee and cake there recently. The cake was amazing. We complemented the chef! Good coffee too. The service was excellent. The lady couldn't do enough for us. The music was relaxing. The interior design is quirky with so much to look at eg upcycled furniture and industrial shelving. There are old pictures of the steel works and vehicles. Definitely worth a visit.

Has a great reputation.The service and food are of a very good standard.There is quite an extensive menu with a variety of meals to suit all pallets.Fork in the road offers a good atmosphere to dine unmaking it quite a pleasant experience to eat there.

I've visited Fork in the Road a few times now and every single time I've been really happy with how good the food and the service has been. The parmo is one of if not the best in Middlesbrough and the portions are generous. The staff have always been really attentive and polite and have gone above and beyond what I'd expect, as well as this, the food is priced well and is excellent value for money.

Looking for an independent resturant for food after Lionesses game at the Riverside, came across The Fork in the Road. What an amazing find, staff were attentive and food was amazing. Great choice and different dining options. Would loved to have tried the puddings, maybe next time!

We enjoyed a lovely meal at The fork in the road last night. The restaurant was very relaxed, really good attentive service. The food was lovely and reasonably priced, would definitely recommend.

I hardly recommend. The garlic mushrooms and the black pudding starters were great. Chicken parmo it is really worth it. Did not have desserts but probably are worth trying in a next visit. Staff is really kind one of them even came after me after I left my hat behind thanks. I come to M'bro a few times a year and I would definately come back and recommended it to my friends & family.

I was in town with a pal to see a band & looked around for a decent pre-gig spot to eat with good veggie choices on the menu.

Mulling over where to eat on Friday night in Middlesbrough town centre - I noticed a 5 star TripAdvisor sign in a window and also that this was a social project - and a friendly welcome as I walked in - the menu was most unusual blending flavours I would have never thought of .

My colleague highly recommended this restaurant and insisted we visit based on her two previous visits. A worthy charitable enterprise but first and foremost it delivers very good quality food. She ordered the lamb (for third time) and so did I and we weren't disappointed. The Malbec was delicious and so were the desserts. Highly recommend a visit.

Visited this place on a few occasions 18 months ago while working in the area. Now back in the area working for a while and decided to visit again with my wife and the food and service were absolutely spot on. We will be in again before I go home, onto my next work assignment.

A last minute decision to have an early evening meal. Two of us have been here before and 2 hadn't. All of our meal choices were excellent. The staff are excellent and will help with your meal choices and any changes (one of our group is fussy) and accommodated the slight changes with no bother and a smile - what more can you ask for.

Forget the social causes this place helps, it’s just really good!

18 months ago we visited fork in the road for the first time and loved it. Tonight didn't let us down food was brilliant and the service was fantastic. Well woth a visit

First time visit for lunch with friends and we were all impressed. The menu was reasonably small but had variety and the food was very nice. Good value for money especially the 3 course for £20. Staff were all friendly and the service was great so we will definitely be back.

Visited last week with my wife, 1st time, menu is small bit good variety. Food, service and drinks all good and reasonable prices. Would return.

The service was great and the food was well cooked and well presented at a really good price. Been twice now and will be going again without a doubt.

Excellent service, excellent food and beverages to suit any occasion whether, breakfast, lunch, dinner, light refreshments or snacks. The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome, an important guest and serve good quality food from their kitchen prepared freshly by their qualified and professional chefs.

What an exciting way to support a community initiative - most staff have indeed- arrived at the fork in the road- made up of long term unemployed, recovering addicts and former ' offenders'- please read this positively. It is a great opportunity for them and is a very creditable venture on all levels. Well worth supporting. Very attractive premises. Great menu offering good variety of dishes. Quality fresh ingredients. Dishes well presented to table. Lovely staff. Very efficient service. Reasonable prices.

Third time I’ve been and it amazing again, staff so friendly place was spotless talked to the head chef Steve he was such a nice guy joe talkative as always, everyone should try here not because the food and service is great but what the place stands for, great work guys :)

Visited for first time as seen the brill reviews and ave to say they r very true and both of us had a lovely meal attentive staff great place v clean food well presented tasty and hot and would definitely return we both had desserts and lush this place is a gem it was a rainy afternoon a shame to see it so quiet but didn't spoil our first visit and look forward to eating here again when over in Middlesbrough would highly recommend this place M

I’ve been here a couple of times now and it’s been very underwhelming both times. The culture of the business is laudable and it’s aims are commendable but in my personal opinion, the food and service does fall a little short and the cleanliness of the place is not the best.

A large group of us ate here after a wedding in the nearby registry office. The staff were excellent, so pleasant, friendly and helpful, whilst also being very professional. We were made to feel very welcome and the staff helped out with the baby and toddler in the group.

Thursday night and the restaurant was quiet only about 7 tables taken. Staff were friendly and attentive, food ordered and it came quickly, well presented and tasted good. Lovely evening with friends - will call again.

Had a lovely 3 course meal the tomato soup was really tasty, the chicken parmo was just the right size and loved the jam sponge pudding. They were all presented well and the service was excellent 5 stars for me

We found this place after reading about the good things that Andy Preston does for the people who started work here. The food was very good, service was good, and value was also good. It is not top of the range, but is perfectly adequate place to eat and a very good price. Also, it is a not for profit charity so well worth supporting by everyone, stop lining pockets of rich restauranters and eat here!

This is a lovely restaurant with an interesting and varied menu. A number of us had the three course special with a small carafe of wine. At £26.95 this was excellent value for money and the food was top notch quality.

Really excellent quality in both service delivery and food quality/variety of dishes on the menu. The 3 course menu with or without wine was A good price. This is a little Middlesbrough gem... it also has the iconic Middlesbrough parmo (with extra 'hot shot' if preferred.... whatever that may be)

Went here as purchased a Groupon voucher. Was not disappointed the place was lovely, had a good atmosphere about it and staff were brilliant very attentive. Food was delicious will definitely be returning. Very well done for Middlesbrough to have something like this! X

This was our first visit after several recommendations. We chose off the set menu which was £19.95 for 3 courses. Choice of 4 starters, mains and desserts. Friendly knowledgable waiting staff. Food was beautifully presented, hot and very tasty. I tried the locally renowned Middlesbrough Chicken Parmo and was not disappointed. Lovely fresh cooked fat chips . Sticky toffee pudding was amazing and good portion size for all courses. We noticed they had a small private dining room which looked lovely if you wanted something more private for a small group. Would definatly recommend and would return.

Rather boring having the same thing twice but I thought I'd have the fish again because last time we visited I had enjoyed it so much. This time it was excellent again, a generous piece of beautifully cooked fish in a light, crispy batter with perfect chips and peas with the right amount of mushyness. My husband said his steak was beautifully done and our meal was very good value indeed.

The food is delicious, the staff are great. It's cosy, relaxed and welcoming. Have been several times and look forward to going back.

We ate here for a team dinner and had a lovely evening. The staff were so attentive and food was delicious. It was a Monday night but the restaurant had a great buzzing atmosphere. I had the squid then the vegetarian tagine, which were both so tasty! Love the ethos of this place too. Highly recommend.

This place is a real gem. Comfortable and stylish decor. I had a full English breakfast, very good quality and reasonably priced. The coffee was strong and the service attentive.

Visited this cracking restaurant for my daughter's birthday,can't speak highly enough of it.Food was fantastic,Joe and Charlotte were brilliant,and what Charlotte doesn't know about gin is no one's business,which was very helpful to my wife.All in all it was a great night,would highly recommend.

We were given a voucher for afternoon tea as a Christmas present. We went along on a Sunday and took other family members too, who chose to have Sunday lunch. We all ordered different meals and each one was declared delicious!

This was my third visit and I was not disappointed. My friend was also really pleased with her choice. We ate from the set menu which was excellent value for money. Cannot recommend them enough this place enough!!!

This is the second time we have visited and it was excellent. After a slight misunderstanding with our booking we were seated, the staff are very good, polite helpful, efficient. The food was of a vey high standard and all our plates were empty!! We were visiting family in Middlesbrough and we always try to eat here when we do! Great value for money, I really admire what is being done here.

This is a great restaurant, with a wonderful ethic to boot. I took my business partners and accountant to here for a 'get to know you' meal: service was good, food excellent and best of all the wine was good too!

We have visited this restaurant twice for afternoon tea, the first time sadly Groupon hadn’t notified the restaurant of our booking, the manager & staff could not apologise enough & gave us a complimentary soft drink/cup of tea for the inconvenience & to help cheer my 10yr old daughter up as she had been so excited about this outing. Our second visit was amazing & without any problems due to the efficiency of the manager & staff, the food was fantastic, the decor & ambiance is lovely. The staff are very efficient, friendly & attentive, a big thank you to Joe the assistant manager for all his help. We will definitely be returning!

Visited today for our lunch. Joe welcomed us in showed us to a table of our liking. Selina served us perfectly. My husbands steak was cooked to perfection and my parmo was amazing. The service and food here is second to none! Highly recommended!

Great food, a good atmosphere and very good service. Have been several times and not been disappointed. A good menu to suit most tastes. The food is well presented and unpretentious. On my last visit We had the chicken Parmesan with chips and salad, it was excellent. Their cheesecakes are amazing. Well worth a visit, we wIll definitely be going back. Highly recommend

First of all. The food and service was great. When you add in the concept behind it i.e. those working there are people that need a 2nd chance or support, one way of another. Makes it an even more enjoyable experience. Manager, Joe, was refreshing to talk to.

Ive been watching this place for some time on social media, i don't live in the area so needed to an a trip. Lunch with the girls eas the occasion and we were not disappointed. Lovely interior, nice ambiance (asMi jy Flanagan would say), a nice warm welcome as you arrive.

First time visit here and I can say that I will be returning. Nice atmosphere and good food. Decent sized portions which were cooked to perfection. We both chose from the set 3 course menu. Two price choices here. One is 7 pound more which includes a carafe of wine (2 glasses worth) and tea or coffee to finish. We both had tomato soup to start and it was probably the nicest I'd had anywhere. I had steak for main dish which was very tender and cooked to perfection. My wife had a parmo which she enjoyed. We both had sticky toffee pudding and ice cream to finish. A good sized portion too ! The price for the 3 course without the wine is currently just tucked under 20 pounds. I think it's priced just right for the quality plus it's not a la carte portions. Nice friendly staff too.

Two of us recently visited the fork in the road for afternoon tea. We rang in advance with some requests for plain sandwiches and scones, this wasn’t a problem for the friendly staff. Upon arrival we were quickly shown to our table, this place has a lovely, cosy atmosphere. Although it was Prosecco afternoon tea, we both weren’t drinking and were offered alternative drinks. My only negative is that the bread had gone a touch stale so was a bit tough on some of the sandwiches. Other than that the food was tasty and you could tell the desserts had just been made with the scones still being warm. I would certainly go back, there is also themed nights during the week with really great deals.
