Food quality is excellent. Value for money has went downhill. The chicken breast strips used to be decent sized pieces now they resemble chicken fingers. I’d rather pay more and keep a high standard of product than cutting the size of the portion.

Friendly young girl, the guy was a bit cool and not so warm. 2 x hadock supper with 2 x tartare sauces. Tartare sauce = mayonnaise, that's all we could taste. Not enough capers in it, a sadly disappointing £3.20 (£1.60 each) lesson. Haddock and Chips. I asked for loads of salt and vinegar, and I was disappointed, hardly any whatsoever, I don't think any was added. The fish was a very small portion, considering the price was way too small. And tasteless. I could hardly pick up the flavour of the fish. The batter was light and crispy. Chips: tasteless. No taste at all. The best thing about the chippy is chippy Chips, sadly not the experience I had here. Might come back next time but considering the costs and the experience we are probably going to try another service provider in the town. The biggest disappointing factor is that they're advertising as award-winning, maybe they did in 2018 but that was 6-years ago, nothing was award-winning about what I ate yesterday (Sunday 14th January 2024)

Went here last week as has seen that it had won awards. Staff were pleasant and efficient. Menu is limited compared to other chippies and my wife couldn't get her favourite which is haddock in breadcrumbs. She decided on the haggis and thoroughly enjoyed it. I chose the fish. Normally for the price charged I would have got 2 pieces but only one here but it was a reasonable size. The problem was the amount of grease that came out of the fish and portion of fritters. I put a napkin under the fish and it was soon soaked the fish was tasty but a bit too greasy for my liking. The biggest problem was the fritters. They were lying in a pool of grease. I stood them on end for a few minutes and the grease filled the bottom of the box that they came in. My wife refused to eat one and I just ate the top half of each fritter until I got to the greasy part at the bottom

One of the best fish suppers you can get. Highly recommend. Right on the beach front, next to the car park. There are some table and chairs and of course the normal beach front benches. Batter was superb, super crunchy, not the slightest hint of grease. Chips and fish were fresh. Menu quite extensive including crab, squid and languostine. The curry sauce is nether chip shop or Chinese. It was called Irish 🤷‍♀️ and had a slightly sweet flavour. It was different to our local, but still really tasty with just a nice level of spice. We will definitely be going back even though they are a bit expensive, the food is worth it.

Popped in to Largs and decided to grab a bite to eat, we should've just walked past. Don't be fooled folks by the pictures of the fish suppers as they don't live up to them in real life, the fish you'll get is probably half the size. £10.90 for what you'd call a mini supper anywhere else. Scampi, chips and tartare sauce - £12.60 - now I'd normally not give that a second thought but obviously it's value is in the chips as the scampi was scarce on the ground. Unfortunately after todays rip off we will not be back

The last three times the fish has been uncooked sticky batter. Chips have a weird taste. There was a younger guy coughing directly into the fryers today. The older guy (I expect is the owner or manager - always staring, grumpy, never smiling) dished up our order, so there's no excuse for undercooked multiple times at this price. My partner and I consider ourselves fish and chip shop connoisseurs. We tend to judge chip shops on the queue and if they have items sitting already cooked. The queues at the Fish Works were long, but service was swift and thankfully everything is cooked to order. A massive tick for that. We opted to share a Cod supper and a Langoustine scampi supper. While the Langoustine scampi supper was expensive and only had 6 pieces of the champion crustacean cooked in a golden crispy batter they were divine. The cod was also succulent. Oh, and the chips were lovely as well. A crispy outer and a soft inner. If I had one little criticism it would be that the batter was a little greasy. Perhaps a little more time draining, but they were very busy.

Tried here today after being recommended it by someone. Fantastic location- nice seating and well presented on outside but really confusing as to where to order and where to collect etc- multiple people ended up waiting in wrong place ourselves included. Ordered the smoked haddock full works and haggis fritters middle option. £17 ( to nearest pound) which seemed a little steep with it being a supper and a half but we appreciate cost of living and location etc. Fish supper was tiny 1.5 bits of fish and I am being very generous with the .5 element- and barely any more chips than the smaller portion. Ironically two people raised this about their portions while we waited. Medium haggis supper is one fritter and again a mesely offering of chips. The fish was tasty but the spray vinegar has a strange taste to it and the batter was very greasy- after taste wasn’t great but fish did seem good quality. Chips were meh- not the worst not the best. Haggis fritter was horrible- like a large haggis burger greasy thick batter not quite cooked and slimy haggis. Really disappointed

We drive through to Largs from Glasgow JUST FOR THIS. Not too regularly, but when we do, OMG it is worth it. The battered stuff (haggis fritters, prawns anything in batter pretty much) is crispy and doesn't feel too greasy- absolutely perfect. It can get very busy when the weathers good meaning that some things sell out, so we take a drive in the drizzle sometimes to beat the queues. The good: + Haddock tasted good and was hot/fresh! + Chips were decent and were hot/fresh + Sitting at tables is nice looking out at the Sea (apart from the dive bombing seagulls) The Bad: - Stingy/Poor Portion of Chips with the "full works" option. I expected a much more generous portion especially for cost! - Wasn't clear where to order, stood at front of the Fish Works and waited a good while before eventually being told by a young member of staff to order inside of building instead. Most of the staff I seen working there looked extremely young, and the poor customer service and portions reflected this, and it was clear staff are not being trained properly in the most basic of things... - Haddock was small and a bit greasy/over battered. - At almost an eye watering £22 for just two Haddock suppers and nothing else it's overpriced for what you get unfortunately, haddock received was small and so was portion of chips! If they gave two large pieces of Haddock and a much better portion of Chips then it would just maybe be worth the asking price but only 1 full bit and a quarter of fish with limited chips in both Haddock suppers is NOT worth almost £22 in a million years... It's just ripping people off... And if you don't change this and offer better value for money you won't have customers coming back... Overall 3 stars out of 5!⭐⭐⭐ If they listen and take on this feedback and improve with better portions, customer service and fairer prices I have no doubt you would receive more 4/5 star reviews and keep customers coming back too!
