Absolutely delicious , fish was beautifully made and the chips were fantastic 😋 Haggis fritters were decent but not needed lol 😆

1st time trying after passing many times and seeing all the awards we had high expectations, unfortunately these weren't met, we went in on Monday 10th March lunchtimeish, at first we thought they're was a few people waiting inside, but it seemed it was non customers gathered for a chat but making the already small inside area awkward and cramped to even get by them. We wanted a Cod Supper and the Six for 6 Squid, they had no Cod (again disappointing this early in their day) so we opted for a haddock supper, the haddock supper was rather small compared to other places with only 1 thin piece of fish and at this price point you would expect more, the fish was nice, but the chips were awful, and chewy and we left most of them: certainly not what we were expecting, the squid was ok although very greasy, so overall really disappointing, and my local chippy in Glasgow does far better with bigger portions at a better price, and the Viking across the road in our experience has always been good in comparison, maybe it was just an off day, and they must have been in better form when they've been judged for their awards, but we wouldn't be in a rush to go back unless there was no other alternatives based on our experience.

Best chippy in the west by a mile. Love it and I love the selection of things they come up with that you don't get elsewhere. Crab loaded chips for example😋

I received a voucher from Fishworks as it was my birthday so mid afternoon I placed my order on line to collect at 6:00pm but had to input order twice due adding an item. On second input I forgot to specify a time to collect, as I had on first order. Consequently the order was added to collect asap. When we arrived to collect at 6:00 it had been binned as not collected mid afternoon. We explained the situation and they very kindly agreed to honour our order. During this whole process they were extremely understanding, polite and very helpful. The fish and chips were, as always, excellent. There is no wonder they have won so many awards. They deserve them all. Thank you Fishworks.

Went downhill from the last time we were there fish was skinny average supper for price

We made mistake when ordering and arrived very late for collection time - with our profound apologies manager honoured us full meal for which we were very grateful, meal was delicious and definitely would highly recommend.

The Best Fish and Chips I’ve ever had , gorgeous crispy chips and the batter was so light on the fish and don’t get me started on the haggis fritters , if you are ever in the area you MUST get food from here , sit on a bench and watch the world go by

£12.50 for a fish supper with one small bit of fish is ridiculous and for two fish its more than £20.00, better off going to he Viking across the road and getting value for money

It's not the quickest, but that's OK it's cooked fresh. It is quite expensive £26 for 2 suppers and 2 cans of juice. The smoke fish was lovely. The sausage was OK.

After having a few beers for paddy’s days I stumbled across this little gem 💎 won awards for every single thing apart from the top one best chip shop in Scotland. Hope this is right could only manage 2nd so let’s make it happen number one this year 2025.

We ordered a haddock supper and pudding supper.The batter on the haddock was greasy and the chips Luke warm. The pudding supper was served as pudding fritters and chips both not piping hot. We also purchased a portion of tartar sauce and a can of iron bru at the cost of £25.20. Overpriced and overrated. I most definitely will not recommend.

Ordered 2 haddock suppers, super greasy the lemon couldn't cut through the grease,no seasoning even though i asked for salt and vinegar,zero flavour chips , couldn't taste the haddock tbh, wouldn't surprise me if it was Whiting fish absolutely tasteless . £25? Your having a giraffe pal. God knows how they have top rating??

The fish and chips are high quality and delicious, and the staff are really lovely. The only thing I didn’t love was the spray nozzles they use for the vinegar. They must have imparted about 2ml of vinegar in total as I couldn’t taste it at all and sadly I was on the ferry by the time I ate them, so it was too late to ask for more. Would definitely come back though!

Aways visit here when in largs even make a special trip just for food. This time considering they have just won 2nd in great Britain, the food was awful. Daughter had spicey king prawn but the spice they scatter over the prawns was over everything and so much it was uneatable. It was if the container lid had fell off. Husband had haddock but it was mainly batter, very little fish. I only had chips this time thank god they were OK, as was the sausage supper. We'll give them another chance but if the same quality then time to change, maybe the win has made them complacent.

Yesterday the 27th of February, I decided tae go for a drive doon tae Largs ,with my granddaughter Courtney and her b/f Lewis. He asked if we wanted go for a bit of food , so we headed to the Fish Works,I only had chips they both a fish supper. Took them tae car tae eat them and we weren't disappointed chips were delishious Courtney and Lewis demolished the fish supper they got. Lovely staff brill location at the sea front , if in Largs again most defo another visit. Congratulations to the team for their award in best fish n chip shop UK.

Gluten free king prawns and chips were excellent, separate fryer for gluten free. Had to wait about 10mins but it was cooked fresh. Would highly recommend

Great food polite staff and chips on beach whats not to like. Tonights meal crab and chips, squid, sausages and chips all cooked perfectly served by polite young team and owner was in the kitchen supper nice people. Guys its not cheep but it is GOOD. With the cost of living it is to be expected if you want to keep places as good as this open then prices to cover all the high cost are required. Only down side is the council need try harder to stop the aerial attack its relentless. Culls are controversial but then so is a 3 year old getting attacked whilst eating. So atmosphere is a problem but everything else is wonderfull.

Staff were lovely, and food was decent, even though they forgot the cheese of my Ham and Cheese toasties 🤣 which I found quite funny, lovely soup made up for it. We recommend going here.

Food is amazing.. service is outstanding me my girlfriend my wee boy and my little girl all took a drive from knightswood to largs just to try this chippy. It's something else. Batter was crispy the fish tasted like fish is supposed to taste like.the battered prawns was amazing the chicken wings with sweet 🌶️ sauce was perfect..look take a drive go down and try it you will not be disappointed.bthis is our new chippy once a month and am so happy it's in largs if it was closer to knightswood i would have to be on a slim fast diet. Just try it AMAZING.

I collected an order on 4/2 and soon realised that I had ordered the wrong meal. I ordered panko but I actually wanted batter. No problem from Rachid who provided me with what I wanted - a delicious golden battered haddock and chips. Excellent service and wonderful food.

very expensive , small portions , average food - £34 for a panko breaded fish n chips and a scampi and chips and 2 cans , it just wasn't worth it , we wont be back

As a man who likes his food and a man that loves Fish Works, I was buzzing about a wee winter post storm visit to Largs. We both ordered the haddock and chips as usual, and we both added a pickle for that little bit of a twist. The place was really quiet so we were served immediately and the food arrived promptly. We took it back to the car to eat as the weather was awful. As always, the food tasted amazing. However, we both commented on how small the piece of fish we both received was. This really let the experience down and for once couldn't give our favourite seaside chippy 5 stars. We will give it another try on the spring/summer and if the portion is still as small, we will revert back to Anstruther for our away day chippy fix.

Very small portion of fish and chip with tartar sauce to take away for £13.70! Half a normal sized fish so would not go again at that price.

At an age where we are not capable of eating a full fish supper each. No problem to the lovely young girl serving who without asking gave us an empty container to share and extra lemon. My wife asked for a coffee which they don't do but directed us next door to bring in a coffee. The food itself, the fish was perfectly cooked with a delicious thin and crispy batter. The chips were everything you want from "chippy chips". A fabulous experience for lunch and we will 100% return.

They have so many awards for a reason. My partner and I love travelling about Scottish towns and trying the fish and chips and this is the best by far. We liked the serving sizes and thought the staff serving us were very friendly. I had the fish supper and my partner had the fish tacos which he loved.

Large fish on panko was tasty good quality fish used keep it up.

This place keeps winning awards and it’s easy to understand why. Gorgeous, clean restaurant with an open kitchen so you can see everything being freshly prepared, incredibly friendly and professional staff, and the most incredible food. Amazing.

Ordered the Christmas special for delivery - as always, the food was delivered on time, piping hot the bao buns with coleslaw, cranberries and panko covered haddock was light and refreshing. Thanks guys

I travelled up from Kilwinning because I’d heard so much about the fish and chips and the large portion sizes. The fish was not a full angel cut but half of one. Anywhere else selling this size of fish would have served two pieces. I’m glad they didn’t though because I don’t think I’ve never had so greasy a fish batter in my life. I’d be surprised if the oil temp was above 120c. A real disappointment given the great reviews.

Been quite a few times and never really been great nor poor however my partner and myself ordered last night 1/11/24 as this was were we are on our very first date and wanted to commemorate our anniversary. Unfortunately this visit was a nightmare,specified no lemon on partners haddock and chips as she is highly allergic to citrus only to find upon returning home she had lemon wich meant she couldn't eat any of hers nor mines ,ordered tartar sauce wich was missing completely and the curry sauce was merely a spicy fruit sauce,not pleasurable at all. Real shame because not only did this lack of attention to detail ruin our anniversary it has also alienated us as future customers,really really poor show😢

Super tasty chip shop grub located on the seafront. I ordered the double battered sausages and chips with a side of haggis. Food was really lovely & all cooked fresh to order. Pleasant staff here too. I'll be back for more when next in the area.

October 2024 update: decided to give them another chance. My bottle of diet iron bru was flat checked the label out of date last month. Chicken katsu loaded fries came in a small box and were cold and at £9.50 are a total rip off, worth £6 max if they were warm. Food quality is excellent. Value for money has went downhill. The chicken breast strips used to be decent sized pieces now they resemble chicken fingers. I’d rather pay more and keep a high standard of product than cutting the size of the portion.

I am really, really disappointed. This is the 3rd time out of 5 in about 7 weeks that the food has been sub-par . First bad experience. Burnt black haloumi chips. Complained, sent photo. No response. 2nd time fish overcooked. Holiday season understandably v busy. But locals will be here all seasons. Tonight. Fish lovely hot, flaky. Chips.....cold, rubbery like not freshly cooked. I mean surely consistency is the answer to being an award winning chippie?

On holiday from Hastings so we’ve tried a few alternatives in our time, but the fish and chips we had were perfect, light batter non greasy chips, sat outside by the water, perfect.

Was there on Saturday afternoon.I ordered a haddock supper the fish was tasty but extremely small six small bites and it was finished the chips were in two clumps all stuck together. If this is what the industry thinks is the best I give in. Going forward I will go the extra miles and go to the wee hurrie in Troon

Fantastic fish and chips. The battered sausage was delicious too. Served by a very professional pleasant young man. My only note would be using sprays for vinegar, never been a fan. Otherwise perfect👌

We stopped for a poke of chips and ended up having a whole meal! the menu is very modern and impressive. The panko lemon sole was the right amount of soft crunchy. Beautifully cooked. I’d definitely recommend this plaice.

Absolutely incredible chippy. I love their sign that lists the boat that caught the fish, what type of potatoes they use, and what type of oil in the fryers. Excellent transparency. Fantastic food. Great views. Voted 3rd best in the UK - for good reason!

A very decent fish supper. I had haddock and chips, my partner had smoked haddock in batter. The fish was great and the batter light and crispy. Chips were fine. My only slight issue was that the portions are not huge.... you get more elsewhere. Great location, right on the seafront. Service was easy and pleasant.

I have to say we didn't get the best of this place, assuming they had a bad day when we went. Really looking forward to it so were very disappointed The fish was overcooked and dry. And pretty tasteless. They didn't have cod either. The mushy peas were no better. Over done and dehydrated.

Got take out. It was great on time, double wrapped as requested and still hot by the time I cycled to Larg Marina where we were staying. The food was excellent. Highly recommended.

Really friendly and helpful staff, lovely wee building. Fish was well cooked and the batter was nice and crispy. Chips were perfect as well. Wee wedge of lemon chucked in. Good choice on the menu too. Everything cooked to order as well and the fish allowed to drain properly (which so many chippies don't bother with). Really lovely place. Would've been four stars but for a couple of things. Food was way over-salted, would be much better if customers could do their own salt & vinegar. I also thought the portions were a bit small for the price. It wasn't the cheapest but the chip portions were tiny and the fish was only ok in size, not huge. Otherwise, really enjoyed it. Will definitely be back.

A very good place to eat fish & chips because it is fresh fish and a good portion. If you want tartar sauce you have to buy it separately. There isn't much space if you want to consume right there. Plus, it is outdoors and it depends on the weather that you don't get rained on. The service is acceptable. Recommended if you want to eat fresh fish.

I can see why it was voted number one in Scotland. Cooked to order and, therefore, piping hot. Staff are friendly and efficient and the product is absolutely splendid. I am in my eighties and I cannot recall ever enjoying haddock and chips more than these and that isn't because my memory is failing! Well done everyone involved - the accolade is well deserved. We have eaten in some of the English award winners and The Fish Works is better! Bill C

Amazing food from the fish works We had the Louisiana prawns and fish supper, both were delicious.

Food was pretty good. Chicken strips quite a small portion. Had to wait quite a while for our last meal. Servers were nice.

Fish is delicious and made fresh to order , there's always a Q curry sauce isn't Chinese curry sauce I'd say it's more Indian in flavour

Langoustines were great as was the haddock but chips were a little skimpy and not so fresh as usual.

great fish and chips but the seating area was let down by people and thier dogs sitting at the seats please do not let your dog urinate under the chair and table when other customers are eating thier food it disjusting !

Fish was not fresh and not up to a high standard! After travelling some distance to try this venue we were very disappointed
