The fish shop in Selby

I have been going here since Lynn and Will took over. I thought the previous owners did good fish and chips, but not a patch on the current service. Best fish and chips for miles around. Always fresh, well cooked with a friendly service. Keep it up.

Sadly, Tripadvisor won't let me add The Fat Fryer, but it's fab. Great value, and the fishcake, chips & mushy peas I had was superb. The best chips for miles around. The new owners have done Wistow proud.

Always freshly cooked, very large portions. Cooked to perfection. Friendly staff, 5 star service and 5 star food, guaranteed.

Our local Chippy here in Wistow has just got better and better over the past couple of years to the point that we and many others believe it to be the best for miles around and the queues seem to prove it.Huge portions, beautifully cooked Fish and Chips, scraps, mushy peas and a chip shop pickled onion - Couldn’t be better

This visit tried the haggis supper with a portion of gravy. Really nice, great chips, well cooked and dipping the haggis into the gravy was heaven. Take a detour and give this place a go, always good.

I live in Wistow but don’t have takeaway a lot but every time I get fish and chips it’s excellent. I like it better than anywhere around the area and it’s great to keep a local business going, although it doesn’t need my help it has loads of satisfied customers

Ordered fish and chips (but the special, which is an extra large fish) it really is huge and with the chips and a portion of gravy, everything was really good. Freshly cooked to order and really tasty. Friendly staff. A little out of the way but worth a trip

We moved to the village last year and this fish shop is one of the best reasons! Delicious fish and chips every visit. Lovely staff and value for money. Fresh to order. Shame they aren't open more lunch times!

In the village of Wistow, North Yorkshire this little shop from the outside oozes character with its red paint work, It was very clean and the welcome from both the server(lady) and the fryer(man) was friendly and pleasant. We ordered jumbo sausage and chips and haddock and chips and a portion of gravy, all for under £10. The chips were a lovely colour coming out of the fryer, and the portions probably slightly too big tasted great, but couldn't eat them all, the sausage was like any sausage from a chip shop, but the haddock was huge and beautifully cooked, only very small patches of the batter still being sticky on the inside. The gravy was classic chip shop gravy and lovely, All in all a pleasant experience and we will call again when passing.

Proper Fish & Chips served with a local friendly smile! And......the battered Mince Pies are divine!

We have tried this fish and chip shop a few times and the batter on the fish is always soggy and undercooked on the inside, the chips have, on a couple of occasions been undercooked - both fish and chips seem anaemic, not the nice golden crispy batter and brown chips you get elsewhere !! I'm sure this has changed hands in the last year and it seems they have taken over the cooking abilities of the previous owner as it was the same then !! Please, please either change your oil or style of cooking, your fish and chips could be so much better :(
