I've driven passed this establishment on numerous occasions, so it was great to finally pull in and see what it was all about. Locations wise, lovely. Good parking and additional seating next to the river Avon. A friendly welcome dished out before being shown our table. A good variety of food, land and water based, with a nice selection of specials. The food was lovely, took a little longer than expected, we weren't rushing, so it wasn't a problem. If you are unfamiliar with the area, it is worth using satnav.

We were greeted quickly and shown to our table even though we were early. This wasn’t a problem. Menu selection was good not too overwhelming. Food was tasty well presented and hot. Staff were very efficient and very friendly and had spacial awareness (which is a rare thing these days). The pub is clean and a lovely atmosphere. We will certainly return.

First time visitors, we were extended a very warm welcome on arrival , taking coffee before the rest of our party arrived, shown where our lunch time table was located and offered menus. Once seated , the table service from the " team " was both friendly AND knowledgeable especially questions relating to the " Specials " together with questions relating to allergies. Food lived up to expectations , served hot and tasty too. Nice location by the river , ideal for sitting outside on a warm summers day.

Had a beautiful meal with excellent service and a wonderful atmosphere. First visit, would highly recommend for great quality food. Beautiful menu, caters for vegans and vegetarians. Excellent quality ingredients, which you can taste. Very reasonable prices, especially as it's Ringwood. Very friendly and helpful staff, log burners for a cosy feel. Right next to the river. I'm definitely going to be going back.

My latest favourite place. To be fair it was a quiet winter Wednesday in Ringwood and I have been meaning to visit The Fish Inn forever but I was not disappointed at all. I can imagine in the summer when it is really busy, this place must be dynamite . The restaurant side was roughly half full ( pretty good for a winter Wednesday lunchtime) service friendly and on point, menu had all the usual pub options but with interesting flair, execution perfect, ambience warm, welcoming with pleasant decor. Looking forward to next visit.

The range of food was a bit disappointing, especially the limited fish dishes given the name of the pub. The food quality was a bit mixed. The steak pie and the sausage dishes were good, but the chicken was tough and difficult to cut. All of the desserts were good. The staff were friendly and the pub had a nice atmosphere. On balance the food was ok and we will give it one more try and hope it’s a bit better on our next visit.

Today we came as a party of 10 and all of our food in Honesty wasn’t great which was a shame as it’s my parents and sisters first time to the fish inn. The atmosphere and service however was relaxing and very Christmassy. We spent over £300 and here were the issues; Chicken burgers very small (and for the price more like a children’s portion) The adults burgers didn’t have any bacon in them despite advertising bacon in the menu The steak was cooked fine but was very grissly / tough Neither the chicken burger or the adult burger came with any garnish The garlic bread was overbooked and very dry The menu was limited and normally we enjoy the pie

The arrival was great, the young guy that showed us to the table was lovely and got us drinks in a timely manner. However from that moment on it went down hill. We were essentially forgotten about, it took 20 mins before someone came to take our order and that was after I had to get up and ask someone to take it. The food came quick but it was known why when it arrived, it seems like the roast were all pre cooked waiting for orders to come through as the potatoes were dry, aswell as the meat. The carrots were undercooked and hard, the cabbage was below standard and the Yorkshire pudding was awful. This was because it had been clearly sitting under the hot window or in trays for a while. This was one of the worst roast I'd had in a while. I couldn't be bothered to complain then as I wasn't very well so just needed to get home. (Illness wasn't to do with meal - just for FYI) The service overall was poor, the food was awful and it was not a great first impression.

So tonight, bereft of grand fortune by way of my own fiscal exposure to reality, I was granted enough surprising fondness of belief in my methods to afford my favourite food. But it would have to be cooked fresh, and not by me. So I wouldn't die. Because food is VERY, VERY IMPORTANT. And a million parsecs better than that nonsense crack cocaine. Which is not served here at all. No Sir. Nothing but love, excellent people, and wholesome good value for a much needed meal and the welcome friendliness of decent chaps and ladies. And that's what I really noticed on my mission to get food to survive. Food I love. Steak au poivre. V and G's are my favourite steak in town, but they were full tonight, and it was true, they were. So I dared in my complete machismo to venture beyond the humped back bridge of beauty to the welcome to the eye tavern that lingers just shy of the awesome road to Bournemouth, and the mega petrol station. I was served by a young lad who most certainly impressed me with his awesomeness. I was in folly enough of ignorance not to get his name, but he was simply wonderful. We shall call him Brad. I am in love with Brad. I desired a steak au poivre (as previously stated), and it came with good speed, and piping hot beauty. I was more excited than the time I went to see Return of the Jedi as a boy with my chums. Brad was like a demi God of customer care and welcome affections. He'd be happily hailed a hero on mount Olympus, I'm sure. The Fish Inn, being holy, due to its Christian connotations with fish is most beautifully thatched right now, with exterior lights that welcome in any roving punter. The spirit is convivial, as you'd hope from a great British pub, and the ambience is one of 'everything is awesome', like that cool Lego song if you 'get the humour'. 'Trees, frogs, clogs they're awesome Rocks, clocks and socks they're awesome Figs and jigs and twigs that's awesome Everything you see or think or say is awesome'. This is the song that comes to mind when you enter 'The Fish Inn'. I imagine during the ancient times it was used as a glory house of hope for many a brazen believer. I appreciated the inner spirit of love and chuckles. (Good spirits). My ONLY whinge, if I may be so bold to direct complaint (which is a detail of personal imperfection not met by exterior forces from a position of self importance), is that I'm not a 'huge' fan of 'pub chips'. They're too cumbersome. Big, fat, ugly. You know what I mean. I like chips Julianne. The pretentious name taught by me the ex Vulcan navigator who later ran a pub with a hearty chuckle. (R.I.P.) for 'french fries'. The pepper sauce WAS nice though, and the meat which was sadly only a rump (I'd like to see fillet and ribeye served everywhere, including Chessington World of Adventures), was tenderly cooked, much to my happiness. I never eat the green vegetation that comes with steak dishes. It defeats to me the point of 'ambrosia'. (Which is not a sweet creamy yoghurt purely, but the ancient term for 'Food of the Gods'). For a quasi omniscient schizophrenic, I felt very at ease in this place. And I would like to share further love for the blessed old dear who seems to run the show. What a blessed and sweet character she was. The toilets were smart, interesting with non graffiti art to read while micturating, and the overall legacy of the establishment is one of 'mystical charming love properties'. I've never had a bad experience at this premises.

The main motivation behind this brief review is not so much the one Sunday lunch experience, but the consistency of the experience that we have enjoyed at 'The Fish'. Service is consistently attentive, pleasant, happy, customer focused, and is the same high standard across all the staff there. What I really appreciate is that while Butcombe's policy is to automatically add 10% service charge on to the bill, the policy at The Fish is to always point this out to customers and emphasise that it can be easily taken off if preferred. That's why we always leave ours on! On this occassion we had a Sunday roast - and having pondered about whether to have the beef or pork worked out how to sort this conundrum by having the 'three meats' roast instead! All very good, and particularly liked the roast potatoes... nice and crispy on the outside but not overcooked on the inside. Food by the way is consistently good, as I say, not writing this as a 'one off'. Butcombe Original is consistently well kept (my passion!) and did't dissapoint on this day either. Very comfy taking guests there for lunch and dinner - and we do!

A lovely old English pub on the banks of a river with some lovely views; although only in one direction. Situated in Ringwood, right beside the A31, I thought it would be very noisy, but, to my surprise, it was nothing of the sort. Upon arrival it was not marked reserved and one person was sitting there. We all sat down next to them and explained that the table was booked for 19:30. Fortunately they were very obliging but matters could have been very different! It seems that the manager “forgot”, so not impressed with that part of the experience. I paid £10 for a jacket potato with cheese and beans which was the size of a small new potato. The potato was black with the consistency watery, I think it was made the day before. All the other food coming out looked fabulous. Another table also had jacket potatoes and they were a decent size. I should have sent it back.
