This place does the best fish and chips. Unfortunately, it has been closed now for a week. Hope it reopens soon.

I have eaten here before and it was ok,however yesterday's visit was shockingly bad.I waited for cod and chips cooked to order and I must say it was terrible.The fish was small and was watery and tasteless.The batter was soggy and slimey and everything greasy including the meagre portion of chips.The curry sauce was literally the worst I have ever seen and I left it untouched after smelling it.The cost £11:50.

Amazing haddock and chips! Burger is also pretty good compared to usual takeaway burgers! Definitely recommended!

Chips were okay and service was quick but the sausage was horribly over cooked, double fried to reheat it probably. Shame I was on my way out otherwise would have definitely gone back to change it.

Very sadly meat pie was solid on the crust instead of being moist, first time this has happened but should never of been delivered in such a poor condition. Can only think it had been sitting on the heat for a very long time 😞

Chips were undercooked, battered sausage was clearly an old one reheated and pickled gherkin was soft and mushy. Normally good but won’t be ordering again

Quick delivery service and tasty food. My drink was missing from the delivery. However, the restaurant sent the drink with an apology. Great service overall. I recommend this restaurant

It's a shame because I really enjoyed my fish and chips, but my saveloys came cold and actually didn't taste very nice at all. I'm not a fussy eater at all, so it's not lightly that I say I couldn't eat them. My fiance also didn't much like her battered sausage, complaining the batter was too hard. I'd happily order the fish and chips again, but the fish and chips weren't that much better than others in Potters Bar, not to just order from somewhere else that does a decent saveloy and battered sausage.

Fish and chips were nice, but the saveloy arrived cold and really didn't taste nice, unedible. Battered sausage was too hard, unedible.

Food tastes bland and by the time I got home (a 2 minute walk) it was cold. Saveloys were disgusting, chips were horrible! Would not recommend or be going again.

The order was incomplete and incorrect. A bottle of coke was missing and I told the delivery driver who said that he would tell the shop. I hadn’t heard anything. Such a hit and miss service

Sadly yet again, the icecream on the menu is not available and a replacement sent. Why be unhappy? Because I was not telephoned to ask if a suitable replacement would be acceptable. In this case, it wasn't and had to be returned for a refund. This has happened at least three times yet no call made. If you can't offer what you advertise, don't have it on the menu or at least telephone to ask if the replacement is suitable first, rather than turning up with something not suitable.

Fish was very greasy had to use kitchen towel to get rid of it chips OK a few were hard

Chips were hard and dry. Tasted like cooked in old oil. The fish was soggy because they piled chips on top of the fish. Fairly terrible overall.

We use this shop all the time & food is usually top notch/outstanding. Was a little disappointed this time as chips were very poor quality potatoes with loads of black, rotten chips!!! Let's hope this batch of potatoes is gone by next week?? 😔😔😔😔

We had an family order tonight & didn't realise it had changed hands. Fish & battered sausage caped in grease & not crispy liked asked, was Large fish instead of medium & no cod roe like asked for but fish bits instead, probably to bump order up more expensive than it already was! Be giving this a wide birth from now on I think! 😞

Food was good, but unfortunately part of the order was missing. And it arrived almost 30 minutes late.

Usually love the freshness of your fish and chips but the quality seems to have deteriorated recently. The chips had a strange taste as if they had been cooked with old, reused oil. A real shame!

Never had such tasteless fish and chips. Plus expensive compared to others locally. Wont be going again thanks!

The Best in Potters Bar for Value, Service. I used to frequently have Fish & Chips from “Tim’s Fish Bar “ in the 1990s. The New Owners are even Better. Well done. (Retired on a budget)

Ordered a delivery of cod and chips this evening ... probably the best I've eaten in a very long while. The portions were huge and the fish and chips were amazing! A definite 10/10.

I just went to this fish and chip shop, a very friendly and kind lady served me, whilst my food was cooking she gave my daughter a lolly and was speaking with her, the food is of very good quality and very good portion sizes, the lady I general was very lovely! Thank you

Amazing food and amazing people! I definitely recommend The Fish & Chip shop. I have so many favourites but some of them are cod, haddock, chips, chicken burger, mixed green salad. They have great ice cream options as well. It is our usual place to order quick and healthy fast food : )

This chip shop is easy the best chip shop in potters bar, there fish is cooked beautifully and chips are lovely.

We got this delivered and we live nearly 2 miles away in Northaw, it arrived perfectly fresh crispy batter, still piping hot, to be honest I was very shocked I wasn't expecting what I got tonight and will continue using this fish and chip shop...

The savaloy was watery. Chips don't taste right. My friends bought before and the same problem with the chips. New ownership I think and they don't know what their doing

Well to be fair I’ve never used this take out before and I’m afraid for what I paid I would have expected much better Chips wasn’t the greatest for a modern fish and chip shop I certainly wouldn’t want them again Battered sausage was wrapped with saveloy I found that gross Why chip shop servers wrap everything together is beyond me so they were thrown away Saveloy was weird inside nothing like I’ve ever had before Cost not cheap Quality sub par Curry sauce 5star Also had to microwave it was at best warm I like my food Hot Will I use again No Thankyou

Placed order yesterday, large cod and chips, was delivered in about 10 minutes. Fish was absolutely delicious cooked to perfection steaming hot and was definitely large portion of fish as requested delicious and also generous portion of chips which were tasty and chunky and not greasy at all perfectly cooked and again delicious. Excellent quality and service would definitely order from here again very very impressed well done!

Have been Coming here since this place opened and have always preferred this to the other chips shops in Potters bar , although last night for the first time I was left wondering if maybe there are new owners here? Just as every other time I've ordered cod or haddock before there has never been skin on the fish and there was this time (not that it bothers me either way) and the curry sauce was a little bland, but honestly other than that it was as good as every other time and we really enjoyed it so definitely a solid 8/10 would be a 10 if the curry sauce was spicier or had a little more flavour 👌.

This plaice just gets batter and batter. Seriously, the portions are not only huge but its really good fish and chips. We do vary our eating in the 5 or so Chippys locally but this is now our go to in Potters Bar. £16.50 for 2 suppers with wally and mushy peas! Lena and Tony Potters Bar.

Too much food! We had a small haddock, a small cod and a small portion of chips. We had to throw away over half the chips and even some of the fish. It was lovely. There was just too much!

I tried this Fish & Chip shop for the first time today. At first I thought it was a tad expensive for 2 large cod and chips and a saveloy, I was pleasantly surprised when the food arrived and I opened the box to find the equivalent of a great white shark in the box and around 4 pounds of chips and that was just mine. I must also add how tasty it was and I shall definitely be using them again. Very nice and value for money. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Used this for the first time for a delivery of two portions of cod and chips. Arrived lovely and hot. The batter was very crispy and not oily with lovely white fish inside. The chips were wonderful. This is my husbands favourite meal and he has been very disappointed with the other fish shops in Potters Bar. This was just like the type of fresh fish and chips that you get when you visit the seaside shops. Will most definitely use this shop again.

We've lived around the corner from here for 16 years, and this has always been a chip shop. It's changed hands many times, and sometimes hasn't been that good. This is by far the best food in all that time, and it's taken ages until now for someone to come along and get it right. Can't comment on the fish as don't have it, but the chips are excellent.

10/10... Rang with a huge order, they said 15 minutes, true to there word. Upon leaving the clean, fresh shop they gave us sanitizer. The food was fresh n delicious all of it. Would highly recommend. Will definitely be coming back.

this shop has changed management so many times its unbelieveable. realising it had changed either owner or management i decided to give it the benefit of the doubt as the last time we went in this chipper with the last owner the food was disgusting, anyway went in saturday with my wife and two younger sons, me and my wife had fish and chips,one of my sons had burger and chips and the other a pukka pie savoloy and chips. SADLY POTTERS BAR HAS STILL NOT GOT A PROPER CHIP SHOP. shop was very clean, staff seemed very stand offish and did not really seem to want to talk or converse, took your money and that was it. considering we spent over £30 on food and drinks, a thank you atleast would have been nice. chips were cooked fresh but god knows what way they were cut as they were the worst i have ever seen, cut very thin and the biggest about 1and a half inches long,cut really short,never seen it before, fish was very very soggy, pie was lukewarm that when we got to the car 50yards away my son threw it in a rubbish bag we had in the car,burger was microwaved and had a solid hard skin around the edges, very poorly done, if basic food cannot be served up in a decent manner to customers,then no doubt wont be long before someone else takes over. WOULD NEVER USE THIS SHOP AGAIN.....IF YOU WANT QUALITY FISH AND CHIPS GO ELSEWHERE. annoyed as i feel my money was totally wasted. how would they like it as a business if i came in looking for food free everyday. come on fellas .

Best fish and chips I have ever had and I'm 70 years old

I was in Potters Bar at lunchtime and wanted a takeaway for the train. The shop further down the road looked better but it was too busy. This place was devoid of customers though there were plenty of staff. I ordered a chicken burger and chips. They cooked the chips from fresh but unfortunately they were slightly underdone. The burger was ok (microwave) and the staff were pleasant to deal with. Prices were reasonable. Overall: average.

Occasionally pop in at lunch time for their specials. Fish is always perfect, served with loads of chips!

The best fish I have eaten in years, particularly the haddock. I have eaten bad fish and chips around High Barnet for years due to a failure of imagination of where to go,but it is only 10 minutes away. They also do free delivery. Can’t imagine eating from anywhere else now.

Absolutely fablous! Food is 10/10. Try the lamb shish kebab. Chips the best I have had. Quality of food is very good. No complaints from the kids. Well done !☆☆☆☆☆

First time going here under the new ownership. Nice and clean big TV to watch while your waiting (which isn't long). Food is great,oil nice and clean first time I've eaten every chip, will be back again.

Normally I get a lovely meal in here with great service but last night was truly awful...3 young men behind the counter with no clue what they were doing...called before hand to order when we got there it wasn’t ready and neither was the 2 people waiting before us who had been waiting 40 mins!!! Very poor customer service. Very unorganised.
