Had a roast dinner here this month and did enjoy it, however felt very squashed in as we were wedged between two other tables. Other tables had far more space at other ends of the restaurant but didn’t like how both parties to our sides had to bump our table to get past and to leave the restaurant. Dinner was tasty and had lots of flavour but the amount of meat given was very poor. I paid for extra meat for an additional £3 and was met with a slither or two extra at best. Meat all tasted nice but for the meal price being over £20, it certainly wasn’t worth it. My partner had chicken and her portion was far larger, despite being £5 less than mine. Staff were great, can’t fault them at all, and the decor was brilliant - clearly a lot had been spent to make it the way it is. Overall, nice meal but far too cramped in there and poor red meat portions.

Not impressed with Sunday roast. Beef was tough, no potatoes only 2 roast, gravy too thin. Had to wait 25 minutes for sweet. Chocolate sundae not worth the money. Very disappointed.

Phoned to say don’t allow dogs girl replied yes , we said be there in 5 mins , we arrived greeted by the girl we spoke to she said have you booked , we said we said we phoned 5 mins ago she did you , I looked amazed and said yes it’s us , she then came to her senses and said oh yeh ! Ok I find you a seat , which was amazing as there were more empty tables than customers, anyway I ordered chicken curry and wife scampi n chips , my curry was like an uncle bens Mediterranean mix with chilli powder added and maybe some curry powder , the chicken was tough , wife’s scampi was over cooked , it burnt my throat so I asked for water 3 times each time although not over worked the girl forgot , when pretty much we had finished she asked how was our meal , my wife didn’t want to moan but I said the chicken was tough , the girl said I’ll inform the kitchen , never heard from her again , we got up paid the entire bill and no tip for reasons said , can’t say I’ll be back again very poor service and poor food considering the rating they have I’m a bit mythed , give it a miss if I were you there are better close by

The only stars I have given are for the really lovely waitress who brought us our food and drinks, she was very kind, and very helpful. The Food ( Sunday Roast) The roast potatoes looked like the fake coal pieces you see on Grandma's gas fire, they were so hard I decided not to risk it owing to recent expensive dentistry by the way of composites on two front teeth, though my kids assured me that they " taste funny Mummy" The Broccolli looked so overcooked I actually started feeling sorry for it, and considered taking it home, re planting it in some vane attempt to resuscitate it, the cheese sauce was so badly split it looked like it was going through a nasty divorce with the roux, and the turnips? I put a question mark at the end of it as I couldn't be sure what it was and didn't have a botanist handy and a taste test of the mush offered no clues either. The meat was nice, and the solitary parsnip was nice too. Making a Roast Dinner is something that Mums and Wives have successfully done for over a century, the phrase " I love Mums Roast dinners" uttered by grown up kids all over the country is testament to that, I suggest the Chef employs either his Mum, or someone else's to cook the dinners in the future.

We arrived around 13:00 on Monday 02/09/24 after seeing it on Google and food looked really nice. It's in a nice location with a nice view if the Bridge and river. There is a small pebble beach and a nice veranda seating area, sadly although the sign outside stated it was open 12:00 to 21:00 everyday apart fron Sunday when it closes at 20:00 the door was locked and it was in darkness. Not even a note on door to say closed or apologise. We went over the bridge to the Jolly Sailor which is opposite. We may try again if we are passing as we are in the area for a few days.

Went today (28 of August) straight from work. Was greeted by a happy smiley lady who asked if I just wanted a drink or did I require food. Question answered I was seated around the back of the bar on a cosy two seat table, I ordered a pint and the Indian style lamb burger,it came with fries and a pink slaw Served by another lovely smiley young lady. It was delicious the curry mayo on it was a revelation and I would have loved a pot just to dip my fries in. I will definitely be returning.

Went out for a meal with my fiancé and her family. Sunday lunch was okay… the roast potatoes were rock hard and beef a bit chewy though. Although I have eaten here before and had no complaint so thought maybe just an off day. I’m not usually one to complain however it was only until the end where we were overcharged for two drinks, so I went back in and I politely said we had been overcharged, only for a waitress across the room to accuse me of not paying and saying I definitely didn’t. I thought this was really rude, saying it In front of everyone. It was only until the waitress behind the bar found our order and realised we had paid and then refunded us. She politely apologies even though doing nothing wrong however the one who accused me did not and I thought this was very rude. As a local person who lives less than a 5 minute walk and visits for drinks frequently I am disappointed. Not impressed with how she accused me.

Third time we have visited giving place every chance but not again. Standard fare, just had cod/chips, fish tasteless and batter so soggy you could have rung out the oil! Given dessert menu and left on our own for over 15 minutes and very sorry but £8 for a slice of cheese cake, all desserts were £8, maybe £5-50/£6 but £8 instant way to put people off coming again. Lower the prices -get more people in-make more profit, and DON'T put fish on top of chips it makes the chips soggy!

Called in for a bite to eat with my wife and daughter on Monday 6th and we’re glad we did. Although we ordered starters , we waited and our mains came out ! The waitress seemed a little embarrassed as she had forgot to put them through. We were given a big apology and told we could re- order. As our mains were ready we decided to skip the starter. My wife had gammon, my daughter the firecracker chicken curry and I had chicken curry served in a garlic naan with a nice cooling salad. Midway through the waitress came over , again apologising and saying that a dessert each was on the house…….. a lovely gesture. We had ice cream, sticky toffee pudding, which my daughter found absolutely delicious, and a sticky toffee cheesecake which was also delicious but had a base more like a sponge than a bisquit. To finish my daughter had travelled to Liverpool a few days before and had eaten a curry in Gordon Ramseys restaurant which wasn’t a patch on the one she was served today which we relayed to the chef! 👍🏻we will call again.

I was disappointed that there were no specials offered in the evening (the waitress said these are only offered at lunchtime which was odd and a shame as I was looking forward to some interesting seafood dishes). Nonetheless the garlic cockles were pretty good although the seafood pasta was a slight disappointment. All in all a good meal and very reasonable but not the amazing food I was hoping for. On balance 4.5 stars for food / atmosphere / price but awarding 4 as I only give 5 when I'm blown away!

What a lovely little boozer this is. Nicely decorated, like a proper pub. Very friendly greeting and treated really nicely throughout. The food was a lot better than I was anticipating. I'd simply gone for the option of Southern-fried-chicken-and bacon-dirty-fries but they'd obviously used good quality ingredients (particularly the choice of cheese) and taken care over them because they were really tasty. My 9 year old had opted for chicken nuggets from the kids menu but when they turned up, they not only looked good but were declared the best chicken nuggets ever. The menu was a lot more interesting than I've made it sound here, we'd just gone for something simple. Anyway, it was a very pleasant surprise, that we'd stumbled upon as it was about the only place serving food at half past 4 in the afternoon. Will definitely be going back again.

Fantastic place. As a gluten intolerant, I was delighted and full by the end of our first meal here. GF seafood tagliatelle... with the biggest king prawn on top, lots of mussels etc. Very tasty, and too full to try the gf lemon meringue pie! Sunday roast the next day was sublime, I was impressed enough by other people's plates... that I took the risk to have the normal Yorkshire, as they didn't have gf. They were diligent and the kitchen double checked with me, to ensure I was aware of any consequence. I even signed a statement to ensure I was aware and happy to risk it. It was so worth it and because I am managing my intolerance, I only had mild symptoms. Best roast dinner I've had for a while. Thank you. Oh, I had a piece of the gf LMP to take away after Sunday dinner, too full again, and it was phenomenal.

Extremely dissapointing experience. The location is nice, the place itself was good, but interior could of done with a "tidy up". But honestly the food was just bad. As a started we went for specials - 1. Crispy lamb - presentation was nice, but lamb itself super dry, and not seasoned. 1. Fish cake - also bland. I guess the chef never heard of seasoning. The mains we went for 1. Fish (Seabass i think it was) and 1. Mixed grill. Fish was bland, and sauce was sour (like a gone of milk, and no its not supposed to taste like that) Mixed grill was disgusting. The portion could of easily fed three people. The meat was so bad, even the dog picked on the pieces of meat which to eat and which not to eat. Overall spent £76 for dog to have food. I never thought im going to say this, however I've had better meals in Weatherspoons. Shame.

The service and food was fabulous and as it was my husband and daughter’s birthday, we were also given 2 small bottles of Prosecco for them and 2 desserts with candles in them. We were made to feel very welcome and the atmosphere was very celebratory. Thank you to all the staff.

I was excited to try the kiosk after visiting the area on holiday. Sadly it didn’t live up to expectations. The server was neither welcoming nor friendly. The sandwiches I ordered were due to come with coleslaw and a side salad. But when I opened the box neither were inside. I’m not very assertive so it took a lot for me to go back in and explain to the server. He said he’d run out of coleslaw but could do a side salad. No apology or hadn’t mentioned this when I placed my order. I wouldn’t have bothered paying over £16 for just two sandwiches. Sadly I didn’t have the confidence to ask for my money back as my anxiety got the better of me, so walked away. The sandwiches were tasty and the bread fresh, but we won’t be going back I’m afraid. Really disappointed. Everywhere else we’ve been had been so friendly with good customer service.

The wild cafe is lovely for kids with the music and scenery around etc and tv cwtch to keep them entertained, menu short for Lunch usual basic stuff- nice food tho and huge portions! Jacket potatoes always taste old tho as If they’ve been standing or reheated.. morning staff weren’t keen on offering a breakfast said if was closed but online it said until 10.30 maybe it hadn’t been updated online but the boys behind the bar just seemed like they couldn’t be asked so we left it, a nice woman tried to offer us a alternative but it had already put me off at the fact they couldn’t be asked
