The Engine Inn has become our favorite pub, the Sunday roasts never dissapoint! Honestly, it's probably the best roast I've had. Dylan was our server on multiple occasions and he's always really friendly and efficient! Couldn't reccomend more

I turned up a little late in the evening and got a table very quickly. The pub is huge so space was plentiful. Nice pleasant people serving however not a lot of them so lacked a little attention given the few people in the bar. To be fair I had expected a boil in the bag kind of affair and that bit was correct HOWEVER the food was really 👍 portion size was big and quite varied. Only issue was location as it is a little off grid but the place is certainly worth a visit given food standards.

1st visit here and will be back soon, 8 of us went on bank holiday Monday and loved it. Waited a little longer than expected for the food, but that was only because they had a baby shower already in progress when we turned up. Not a problem if the company is good and the drinks are flowing. Was well worth the wait for the food as it was piping hot and freshly cooked. Loved it.

Best sunday dinner ive ever had!

The best 'pub food' in Newcastle. I must have eaten here 50 time, and every single time it's been brilliant. If you haven't had a Sunday dinner from here, you are missing out!

First time visiting last week for food. We thought we would give the gyros a try with it being discounted. It was nice but wouldn't say it was your authentic gyros with rotisserie seasoned meat like I usually have, was shredded chicken breast with a light season which was slightly cold. Despite that portion was good , staff friendly. Just not sure yet if I would return for the food.

Steak was cooked to perfection, service was excellent, friendly staff.

Scran was lovely, and portions were very generous. All at a reasonable price too. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. They were showing a variety of sport aswell.

Went in late afternoon, and the place was still busy, but there was no shortage of food choice. Top service with a great atmosphere and football on the TV with no sound, so it didn't interfere with general conversation. Top class food, too, at reasonable prices, will definitely be returning for more delights.

We were there today to Celebrate my son's 18th Birthday. The food we all had was wonderful and the staff were very friendly.

Had fish and chips was more than the Sunday dinners which were good, unfortunately I thought they gave me a kids portion asked for garden peas got mushy .to be honest I've had bigger battered fish from Iceland and thicker ,not recommended at all

I've been here for a wedding reception and also a funeral wake. The highs and lows of life, but each time the staff at the engine have been accomodation and been very helpful, putting on a great service each time.

Would highly recommend giving this place a try. Staff were amazing and went above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Food was great and made you feel like you were having Sunday dinner back at your mother's.

Came in on the off chance of getting a table but got two at the bar the food was outstanding possibly one of the best Sunday dinners I’ve had the portions are very good even the child’s fish and chips was impressive and the service was great didn’t catch the girls name but she was very polite would definitely recommend and will definitely be back

6 of us for dinner at 6.30 Thursday.

Just been to the engine inn for food waited an hour for the food . Ordered the gammon which was gold no triple cooked chips , ordered a beef .pepper and onion skewers and Greek salad with pitta, and pulled chicken .pita and Greek salad. No beef or pepper and onion skewer, bland salad plain no feta ( if Greek) CV old pulled chicken very bland and gammon was cold . Not the best experience unfortunately

Such lovely service and one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time, and great value for money. The lady who served us was so lovely and incredibly polite! If I lived locally I would definitely come more often.

Great meal service slow but it was busy our party was booked our coffie was made and then left on bar counter after over 5 mins we went and got our own dessert took ages to come to table

Visited boxing day 2023. Mince and dumplings, dumpling was like a biscuit looked nothing like a dumpling.prawn cocktail was watery with a teaspoon of sauce.booked for 1-pm served starters at 2-15pm main came after 3pm.one table waited that long they walked out and were asked if they wanted meal to take out.2 in the kitchen restaurant full and manager at the football match on one of the busiest days of the year.The whole afternoon was a joke will not be returning to eat.

Group of 5 had the festive menu..it was really good..staff are so friendly and hard working..

We had a sideroom for 26 and had the 3 course Christmas menu. The meal was lovely and the staff were great. I would highly recommend this pub. I will definatly be going again.

Went for food today, food was amazing,2 had fish, chips and mushy peas and 2 of us had the gyros and the portions were huge!! Lovely food, great service, would definitely recommend:-)

The food was excellent and you got so much I just couldn't eat it, they even boxed it up so I could take it home and put in extra sauce aswell. The Nachos are one of the best I've had! Staff were friendly and attentive, will definitely be going back.

Very tasty sunday dinner i think a bit over priced

We often come here for Sunday lunch as the food is beautiful and well presented. Today the place was massively busy and our order was wrong and waited longer than usual for drinks ect but the staff took notice in this (we didn't need to mention anything) and they went above and beyond. Great service. Thank you.

Visited this pub under recommendation of a work colleague, was very disappointed with the food, I got the burger, my partner her sister got the steak pie, my mother got the fish and chips and my niece got something, the chip were advertised as triple cooked, which would have meant crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, mine were hard and not triple fried, my partner and her sister left most of their main meals, the onions rings were over cooked but the cauliflower cheese was spot on, the dessert and starters were fabulous which made up for the mains & sides, all in all the pub is a lovely little place friendly staff and great service, I did notice there were 2 big parties in at the time so the kitchen may have been over stretched

We organised a wake at The Engine Inn on August 4th after my cousin's funeral. All who attenthought the venue was excellent and with food and drinks we paid for it worked out £20 per head. It was really good value and the service excellent.

Fab place to meet friends. I had the lamb curry and it was gorgeous! Highly recommended.

Looks like we've found another gem! Gorgeous food, I've never seen such a huge fish on a plate before. Lovely staff too. We're planning on asking if we can park our campervan overnight in the car park and make a night of it. Highly recommended

Fairly basic pub food. But it was cooked fine and the setting is ok. Service was very slow though despite the restaurant and bar being quite quiet

10 out of 10 for food, cleared our plates this lunchtime 😋 pleasant helpful bar staff, nice pint of snakebite and nice to get out of the raintoday for a short while.

Popped in on a sponsored walk. Had a pint and a sandwich. Food was lovely.

We have just been for Sunday lunch here and the food was outstanding, very reasonably priced and all cooked fresh. The only complaint would be the service was a little slow but it was very busy.

Lovely time at the Engine Inn. Great service very quick. Lots of staff looking busy and serving customers. 3 opted for the roast dinner. Meat quality was very good and lots of it. Veg on the plate was tasty and we had 2 sides of greens that were really good too. 1 had a burger and said it was delicious with a flame grilled taste. Overall really good experience.

Fantastic Sunday Lunch! Best restaurant in the area by far. Exceptionally busy being Mother’s Day, but excellent service and brilliant staff.

Absolutely love this place, authentic, down to earth, no nonsense pub, with friendly, helpful staff & lovely food. We had Sunday lunch which was outstanding. We've had other meals there too, always enjoyed them very much indeed. Good choice of drinks behind the bar, reasonably priced, plus a nice little outside area too. We will definitely be returning!

Benn meaning to go here for a while, recently went for some lunch. Staff were spot on and being dog friendly was a plus. Food was decent.

It's a nice place,dog friendly which is handy for us and the staff are great.we sat in bar area which was quite cold.we just had main courses n waited about 40 mins but food wasn't hot.didnt say anything as we were hungry at the time.
