The Duke Inn in Birmingham

Excellent pub with good real ale. Staff were fantastic and the music was well chosen and played a good volume. It's worth making a trip to Sutton Coldfield for if you're in Birmingham.

Lovely old fashioned pub, we love to take our elderly father so he can enjoy a pint without the trappings of the modern world. Great staff and atmosphere. Nice beer garden at the back.

Probably the best pub in Sutton.....if you like a traditional pub, with loads of character and good quality real ale. I visit friends in the area frequently and if we go into town this is always visited.

A typical traditional pub, bar, lounge and gardens, selling good real ale and usually a selection of cobs. Unfortunately its let down by its scruffy, dirty, smelly toilets.

Nice calm traditional style pub off the beaten track. It had cobs at the bar and a nice selection of clean tasting beers. It had the football on which is always a bonus when out listening to the missus 😄

A real honest traditional community pub with friendly service, great vibe, lots of events and activities going on. Doesn't serve food but good beer, darts, football, live music and much more. Very glad to have it on the doorstep as pubs like this are fast disappearing.

I have been coming to The dukes for a short time now. The place has a welcoming feel and caterers for all. The atmosphere is how a pub should feel, friendly, great music in the background with sports a plenty, if that’s your thing. I personal enjoy it for how friendly the bar staff are and the regulars that frequent there are welcoming and open to conversation. Absolutely love this place and recommend it highly.

Might not be Sutton's oldest pub, but it definitely has a sense of yesteryear. Traditional decor with minten tiles and original bar woodwork. I had a sample before I bought. Beer was good and service could have been better. Worth a visit whether a local or tourist

I have just had to put a comment on about this fantastic little local pub. I have just read a negative review some silly bloke has put on which is basically due to an issue with supply of ale which has meant this Wally felt it necessary to slag the pub off. The pub is ace it has the best most welcoming staff in a pub in Sutton Coldfield. The beer is always spot on and the atmosphere is great no loud rubbish music. The quize night has realistic questions and all in all the best boozer in the town. The idiot leaving the review should support a local pub not condem it

After not visiting for a good while, as the place had gone so far down hill, I was persuaded to go two weeks back on a Saturday evening when food was available in the garden along with music and a guest beer offering, Oakham's Citra which was excellent. I congratulated the landlady on the quality of the beer and she said this was how it was going to be while she's in charge, excellent I thought we've got our old Duke back. So a fortnight later myself and friends went back again, big mistake, the normal Duke Inn has returned, they had the usual poor beer offering, no guest, no landlady in sight telling us how good the beer is and in the short space of time we were there they ran out of ale, apparently if the draymen can't get into the car park to drop the beer off they just drive off which leaves the pub without beer, you couldn't make it up. Now I've never run a pub but if I did I would model it on how The Duke was two weeks ago and certainly not how it was yesterday, The Duke used to be the best pub in Sutton by a mile, it's now awful and I shall certainly be avoiding it until such time that I hear there's been a huge improvement.

I live very close to this pub and it causes a lot of headache for their neighbours. They play very loud music at inconsiderate times (sometimes till 2AM) well past their closing times on week nights. I’m not a a spoil sport, but some of us have work in the morning! They also empty barrels and have deliveries in the morning before 7 that causes a racket and a half. I get that you’re a pub and need deliveries but surely you can do it after 8AM. Edit to reply to Carlene’s response: Hi Carlene- so you are saying that you have no speakers / sound system / TV speakers / portable Bluetooth speakers and that I have entirely made the whole thing up? I’m not referring to live music, but in the case of last night when I posted this review rave / dance music was playing very loudly from the pub till late. This has happened on quite a few occasions- I’m not saying you were still open to customers but that in the case of last night in particular- music was playing loudly until late. I’m sure you have lovely beer- not criticising that at all. Just stating a fact about the loud music. In terms of the deliveries- I’m not saying it happens all the time but to deny that it happens before 7 sometimes is unfair. I am well aware of the street parking situation, which I don’t understand how it affects yourselves as you have a car park and it’s a one way street, so it’s not like the lorry is going to get stuck.

We came here for the first time for the Easter activities in the garden for our children (which was completely free!) Our girls absolutely loved it! It was really child friendly & there was so much for them to do! There was live music towards the end of us leaving & the guy singing was absolutely amazing! We will absolutely return here!

Cosy little pub with nice ales. Last time we came here it was shut but glad to see it was open again. Beer garden is sun trap and the staff are friendly.

Didn't see all of the Duke Inn but called in for a drink on a night out and thought it was so lovely. A good back to how pubs used to be. Even had a variety of rolls on the counter. We will be visiting again for sure.

a group of northampton town fc supporters stopped at sutton coldfield on the way to walsall, we discovered The Duke Inn by chance, wonderful understated pub,full of character ,the lounge is also an art gallery for local artists. we were served by Lisa, who coped admirably yet she had only been there 4 months.We will all be back

Friendly atmosphere, good service and great selection of beers. Brilliant beer garden out the back too for when it's sunny - it was a godsend to have a pub like this locally coming out of lockdown! It's so great to see this place still thriving in Sutton which is now full of soulless chain bars/pubs
