Amazing food, excellent service and a pleasant atmosphere. If you like home cooked meals at a reasonable price, this is the place to be. 10/10

The food was good. The servers were overwhelmed.Ordering was at the bar. No table service. Having waited an hour for starters that came out 10 minutes apart things went downhill with the live band. The band were excellent I would suggest the bar area would be more suitable than the dining area. All conversation around the table stopped as no one could hear. A very expensive meal to sit in silence with family and friends. Would not recommend

Went here for a meal staff were very friendly. Food was well presented, hot and tasty. Prices are very reasonable. Will definitely be going here again.

Good food, friendly atmosphere. The menu has changed recently, food seems a little simpler and the veggie/vegan options have shrunk.

We have met a wonderful employee Tom who has noticed everything to help a me as customer meet their need very helpful . Please give him a employee of the month award we need more people like him that make you feel welcome.

Went for a lunch/snack on Sunday. Food was fine if a little expensive for what it was - a nice experience. Had a Sunday lunch and the service and food were very good

Did breakfast with Santa had a very fun morning, Myself, my Wife and our 02 Children really enjoyed it, all the staff were very helpful, Tom was excellent, the breakfast’s were very nice, I really enjoyed my vegetarian breakfast.

2024 update: Back up to 4 stars. I'd heard that the food had improved so decided to give it another try. Looks like the whole team has changed, and the food has certainly improved. 2023 update: Reduced to 2 stars. Had a surf and turf. The steak was poorly butchered and had sinew, possibly a tendon running through it making it inedible. Server's attitude was not what I'd expect from any service industry location - had to labour the point which was eventually accepted after they could not cut through the steak either. I accepted a replacement of the same hopefully with a better steak. Took a long time to arrive - my partner had just about finished her food. It seems the rest of my plate had been kep warm. Scampi like rubber, chips and onion rings stale tasting. Did not bother to complain again, will not be returning any time soon. Good food. Great service. Would be 5 stars if menus were kept clean, tables didn't feel slightly sticky also the food although very good, didn't delight - taste and season - though the production processes may not allow for this. Like that bbq sauce was separate to the hunters chicken, giving choice. @Gavin: thank you for responding to my original review and happy to chat and work with you towards a 5 star next time we visit. With all that being said, my 4 could be others' 5 or even 3.

It was extremely busy, but you could see how hard the team were working. We were told that there was a wait when we ordered, but the food still came out in less time. I actually spoke to the manager to commend the staff, as our food was hot, tasty and well presented with a smile

I used to work here about 2 years ago. Manager of the pub was really very sarcastic. Is John having the same nature? Making comments towards their staff, passing remarks, didn't answer for anything, too much attitude. Had to leave the job. Awful experience with him. I did work in a kitchen n yes U were the manager who was keep making comments n I had to leave the job. Your name is John. Pub's name is Dog and gun n main Manager is quite sarcastic.

Good atmosphere a good bar service

The staff weren’t particularly friendly. It was our first time visiting, we’d booked a table but no one greeted us, so we found our own table. Someone did eventually come over to ask why we’d sat at a reserved table but they didn’t tell us that we needed to order ourselves. The online ordering was a bit clunky too, and was glitching in parts. The food was fine, although we didn’t feel like we got much food for what was a £55 meal for 3 people. We had a nachos starter that was so bland, it’s potentially the worst nachos I’ve ever had. Overall not bad but I’m in no hurry to return.

Went here after several years absence. Various disparate groups with little interaction resulting in not a lot of atmosphere but not at all unpleasant. As an apparent newcomer I did not stimulate any warmth from the barstaff. The pint of Oakham Citra I had was the right temperature and very good. Was able to find a seat at the edge of the dining area and also a parking space but it was early doors around 5.

Rommelle was amazing - helpful and spot on with his service: He cleaned our table, made good suggestions for additional condiments to our meals, and checked on our meals without intruding. Thank you

As usual, the quality of service here is excellent. If you want to feel welcome, receive professional service and enjoy top quality ales and wines then please feel comfortable coming here. A lovely meal today at lunch. Colin (I think he said his name was) was helpful and charming with our 18 month old after she made a mess of the floor. He also recommended the chicken schnitzel which was beautiful. Definitely be popping in again when in the area.

We held a reunion for approx 30-40 people today. We were looked after by Sarah and Sanjeev. They were so helpful, friendly and efficient .We were all served food in a timely manner.The food was hot and delicious.We held the same event here last year and hope to be back. Ember Inns should be extremely proud of their amazing staff....they went the extra mile to ensure we had a memorable occasion. Thanks to all staff. The Dog & Gun has a very comfy and a very clean interior. However, the atmosphere is severely lacking (over 50s and their well-groomed dogs dominate). Plus, the music played throughout the pub is the worst I’ve heard in years.

Visited with friends this morning for breakfast . Really friendly and great service. Food was excellent full english breakfast and certainly our group will be returning

Brilliant pub and staff. Welcoming, accommodating, professional, capable and friendly. We had a particular, arguably difficult request when we arrived, and the manager (blonde lady, can't remember name) sorted it straight away to make us feel welcome, when many pubs/restaurants wouldn't have. Food is great, made with care and bit more special than your average pub. Atmos and interior of pub is lovely and cosy. I love this place.

Our 1st visit for Sunday lunch for a while and it still as good

Service was very slow, party of 10 ordered at bar,starter came with main,I ordered Tandori flatbread bread, was smothered in mayonaise no mention of this on menue,would not have ordered this if I had known,definitely not enough staff, streatched to the limit, only one till at bar so staff greatly under pressure, ordering food at same place as drinks so a little chotic at the least,positives nice building,second time there and was the same before we will not be going back 😕

Very few vegetarian options, no vegan, no salad and chips a plenty !! it was overflowing with people. Which is a good thing for the owners but not a pleasant experience. Very noisey and the food very average. By choice wouldn't go again.

This is the first time I have been here and I really enjoyed it. The food was lovely and Dawn was absolutely lovely. She really looked after us and made the experience enjoyable. I will definitely be coming here again.

I ordered a 8oz steak medium/well the food was served within a reasonable amount of time. Once cutting into the steak it was raw. The manager I assume (indian lad in hisn own clothes) took away the steak and returned saying the chef will make you a new dish. I waited over 30 minutes to receive my food. Within that time no one apologised or even updated me on the food situation. At this point both my son and mom had finished there food. To top it off it wasnt even busy. The person who was serving the food walked past me several times and still failed to come over to update or check on the situation. Once i received my food. A sorry for the wait wasnt even said. And to add the steak was still raw. Poor services, no real conversation and the steak was still alive. Very disappointing.

First time visiting and just felt so comfortable and the food was spot on!! The manager Gurj was the best he was catering to our needs as there was a group of 7 and he made sure we had our drinks and food on point!! Best customer services and best place to dine and drink, would highly recommend and I’ll be back for sure!! .

A lovely and well put together with ample parking and dog friendly area to the pub. The pub had lovely decor and a great menu. You could even order delivery from here! The food was amazing and fairly priced. The drinks were dear for soft drinks but you can’t win them all! Love that they had a dog friendly area as not everyone wants to sit with a pooch so nice they get an area away from rest of pub. Great touch with a help yourself dog table with water, bowls, treats and a bed! Really good! Had such a lovely time 🌟

Poor quality meal, Food wasn't properly cooked, Vegetables were raw, and chicken not only tasted funny it was warm one side and cold the other, very small portions, we both said it wasn't value for money, I think the food needs to be really looked at before it comes out. Very disappointed.

I walk with the aid of a cane. The staff know my preferred choice of a drink and bring it to my table shortly after my arrival. (10th Feb) Iam now allowed to drive my Invalid scooter into the bar area Mid. June.sad to see the attendance has dropped on a Sunday evening due to the Pub Quiz not sure of the attendance and future.

The girl who served us was new and looked like she had no support or training from other.she was put on bust shift with no help or guidance.charged is to much and had to get stuff knocked of her tap .very poor from management in the pub not helping her.food wasn't great ,but dessert saved the night .not sure if will go back with that level of service and poor food.

I quite like the place but as per 6th April 24 chief was not good. My food was very salty and sea bass tasted like it was deeped in salt... It wasn't eatable at all...

I love coming here to eat because the prices are reasonable and the staff are very friendly and accommodating.
