Always good beer and the burgers are the best in the city! Hoisin duck fries are incredible.

Burgers in here are excellent! Highly recommended. We’ve now visited twice this week and will be back again for sure!! Also a good selection of beers on tap which is always good!!

Went in for dinner with my child after a bad experience at twisted burger. They had a separate children's menu and was very welcoming. The burgers were just as good as the other slap and pickle, best in Sheffield by a mile!

Love slap and pickle burgers so was pleasantly surprised to find they were served here. Music created a great chilled atmosphere, perfect stop for a quick lunch break or afternoon date. Also noticed board games available if you need to find a way to pass the time

Always a favourite to visit on our travels around sheff! Not had chance to try the food yet but the cocktails are always spot on! Staff lovely too 😊 Update - highly reccomend food! Good tasty comfort food, nothing too special but nothing bad! And if you love cocktails try the specials board - Never dissapointed!

Usually had a good experience here but recently let down by being delivered a meat burger when I ordered vegetarian. Made worse by Deliveroos’ incompetent support system (not Dark Horses’ fault) but Dark Horses initial slip. So won’t be returning

Excellent food and quick service

I've eaten here four times now because it's near my house and I liked it. They have however got my order wrong twice now; the first time I got served a meat burger when I'd ordered a veggie one and this eve I was brought the veggie chicken burger when I'd ordered the veggie patty. There is clearly something breaking down between the order and the kitchen. Another thing is that they used to have decent beer. I dont know if they've been taken over by a brewery or something but the selection at the moment is really poor. Used to have pulls, dark beers, sours, etc. Now it's bland pale after bland pale. If you want your pub full of middle-aged S11 men in gillets then crack on. Else get some decent beer back in! Shame because the food is great when they get it right.

The cocktails here are really good and the staff are friendly. There are no actual horses in the venue - only pictures of them - but, as I am mostly apathetic towards horses, this is fine. Definitely worth visiting.

Really lovely bar/pub. Have ordered food to takeaway many times from here and visited for the first time recently for food and drink. Food is tasty burgers and topped fries to make your soul happy - excellent vegan/veggie selection. Wide range of drinks available, and every possible glass to drink them from. The whole place was quietly stylish and felt like a comfortable place to be, as well as being very clean and tidy. High chairs available - the type that clip (securely!) to the table. Also plenty of hooks for coats, bags and the like.

A great addition to Eccy Rd/Banner Cross. Good food. Good beer. Dogs.

Absolutely Top Class 👍 hubby is an avid Stones fan and he says this probably the best pint around. Madri was also exceptional! Saw cocktails being made and they looked fab too - will explore these on our next visit. Relaxing unpretentious vibe - loved it 🥰

Awful bar service last night from one particular member of staff. Ordered a round of 5 drinks prior to last orders. We were served 4 drinks and then told we weren’t allowed the 5th as the time was 11:01 and they weren’t licensed to serve beyond 11pm. Complete lack of common sense to atone for their error and then displayed deliberately confrontational behaviour. Such a shame as we’ve always enjoyed previous visits. Will not be returning.

Very baby and children friendly. Our 1 year old is very comfortable on the high chairs that affix securely to tables. And the pints are always excellent.

Love this place. Perfect mix of cosey pub and up market wine bar. Has a great range of cocktails and beers too and the burgers by Slap and Pickle, made fresh on premises, are not to be missed.

Went to bottomless brunch at Dark Horse, amazing options and incredible Mocktails. It’s hard as someone who doesn’t drink to sometimes get decent, well thought out drinks that look and taste incredible and Dark Horse have gone above and beyond to cater to that. Nothing negative to say at ALL, the service was amazing, friendly and always keeping our drinks topped up, the venue itself is lovely and cosy. The food is incredible and all such a great deal! 10/10. Thoroughly impressed! Will be back time and time again! Thank you so much!

Great spot for (Gluten Free) Bottomless brunch! Really rated the food and drinks here. Staff were really knowledgeable about gluten free options (seperate fryer for chips. Gluten free burger bun) and very generous with the "bottomless" drinks! 😊

Making up what is now a great bunch of bars and pubs at Banner Cross, The Dark Horse is definitely one of my favourites. Lovely lagers on draught and a decent choice if you’re a non beer drinker. Can get a little crampt when it’s busy but on a hot day you can sit outside. The loaded fries I had were out of this world… but beware they are massive! I will be looking forward to going back to The Dark Horse again soon.

I personally really liked it, my husband not so. He felt it was like a cafe, no soft furnishings to make it comfortable. I thought the bar staff were lovely, good range of drinks. The pub itself was clean.

We went this afternoon for a family meal, the food was delicious and service was second to none! We will definitely be going back. A lovely, welcoming friendly atmosphere! We will definitely be going back! If you have not tried this place, you really should go!

This is such a great place I don’t want anyone else to know about it. Lovely vibe, nice crowd, great staff, fab drinks selection and good value. You can’t ask for more from a local. Not had chance to try food yet as it is busy and you need to book. Next time….

Great new addition to the Banner Cross section of Ecclesall Road. Good quality bar offering and something a bit different other venues in the area Well worth a visit!

My partner and I go quite frequently to Dark horse and love it ..great food and atmosphere and the staff are really nice ..but last night we had to leave after we had eaten it was so cold staff had to wear coats apparently they were told do not put the heating on ..it was freezing I felt miserable 🙈😳

Quality stacked burgers for meateaters, vegetarians and vegans alike! Best chips in Sheffield (probably), good selection of non-alcoholic beers in the drinks menu. Perhaps a little on the cool side and we kept our layers on, but then isn't that a sign of the times now...

Great pub. Excellent service from Adam. Good range of beer, cocktails and tasty bites. You can tell how good it is in that it has sparkling clean toilets. I used to bank there before it became a pub.

Me and my partner are both gluten free - the girl behind the bar and the chef were both great at pointing out what we can and can’t have! We ordered bunless burger with GF cheese options and they were amazing

What a great pub / bar! The friendliest and kindest staff, lots of interesting drinks and cocktails, as well as the standard favourites. Excellent bar food. Clean and cosy decor and furniture. Warm and welcoming. Occasionally there are quizzes and even live events to join in with and get to make friends. Although I'm a man, this place is very popular with women, which means it is a great pub where women can feel safe, welcomed, and treated with respect. I can't recommend The Dark Horse highly enough. Try it and you'll see.
