Cornerstone @Dyson Place in Sheffield

Review – 2 April 2025 We revisited this restaurant with my parents, expecting the same great experience as before. Unfortunately, it was quite different this time. The Cornerstone Breakfast lacked the WOW factor that had impressed us previously. The portion sizes, particularly the beans, were disappointing, barely a tablespoon’s worth. After expressing my disappointment, we were given some additional beans, but it shouldn’t have taken a complaint to receive a reasonable portion. For £104 for five breakfasts and eight drinks, I would expect better quality and consistency. Given this experience, I’d think twice before returning or recommending it to others. *********************************** A Perfect Start to the Day at The Cornerstone @ Dyson Place I had a fantastic breakfast experience at The Cornerstone @ Dyson Place, and I can confidently say it’s a spot worth revisiting. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was inviting, and the service was exceptional warm, attentive, and efficient without being intrusive. I opted for the Cornerstone Breakfast, and every element on the plate was executed with care. The mushrooms were beautifully cooked, incredibly juicy, and packed with rich, earthy flavor. The poached egg was absolute perfection, firm on the outside with a golden, runny yolk that added a delicious creaminess to every bite. To complement the meal, I had a cup of their expertly blended coffee, which was a real standout. It had a deep, smooth body with a subtle burnt caramel aftertaste, making each sip a delight. It was the kind of coffee that lingers pleasantly on the palate, leaving you wanting just one more cup, so I did. We chose to sit outside in the courtyard, which was a wonderful decision. The outdoor seating area had a relaxed, welcoming vibe, perfect for enjoying a slow morning. Whether it was the cozy ambiance, the friendly staff, or the delicious food, everything about the experience made for a memorable breakfast outing. If you're looking for a place that serves high-quality food with fantastic service in a charming setting, The Cornerstone @ Dyson Place is definitely worth a visit. I’ll be back soon for another round!

Best meal & service I’ve ever had in Sheffield! Such a warm welcome when we arrived with everything so well arranged. Our server Val was amazing; he made us feel so comfortable and was there for every little thing we needed. The owners mum made our experience so special alongside the food being second to none. I am so impressed with the restaurants attention to detail and quality, we will definitely be returning!! A must try…

Really enjoyed our meal here today. I had travelled up from London this morning (and friends had come from elsewhere), we all agreed the meal (and company) was well worth the travel. Really enjoyable, the staff are friendly and accommodating, and "small plates" are actually a fairly generous size. One of the best places I have eaten since I moved to Sheffield in 2017, and my visits since.

We booked this place for a big family group for a Christmas get together brunch. The service was great and the space was perfect for a table of twelve including a one year old, a four year old and a seven year old.

Absolutely stunning dinner! The Porchetta was perfectly cooked and the Venison Ragu was delicious. Great options for our family with vegan and gluten free requirements. Thank you!

Just had a fantastic Aperol Spritz and porchetta sandwich for £15(4-6pm) in the seasonal tipi. The focaccia sandwich is a work of genius. Great stuff!

Came in with my sister and had coffee & early dinner. Best coffee we’ve had in the UK! We are from Australia and were so happy to finally have a great coffee. Food was presented amazingly and tasted devine! Would definitely come back!

I recently visited Cornerstone and tried out their new steak item, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations! The steak was cooked to perfection—juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. The seasoning was just right, complementing the natural taste of the meat without overpowering it.

Great vibes, always welcoming whether you’re coming for a coffee, drink or dinner. Love that the menu is always changing and so many options for vegetarians 👍

I hired upstairs this week for 20 friends. We pre ordered which worked perfectly. Team cornerstone delivered an exceptional meal for all us Hake, Burgers and Lamb plus lots of puddings. AK looked after the bar upstairs and met our endless requests. Friends travelled from outside Sheffield and were amazed at the quality of the food, the ambience and attention to detail. I can highly recommend hiring upstairs one friend now wants her wedding there. 😊

I never leave negative reviews but considering how many good ones this place has (which is why we chose to eat there) I thought I'd better pipe up. First visit for a much needed brunch date for me and my partner. We ordered two vegan breakfasts even though we're not vegan, because it sounded nicer/interesting. The price was fairly high however the menu clearly outlined a large, elevated 'full' type breakfast. In spite of the place being pretty quiet, it took an incredibly long time to arrive, and then we were brought the wrong order with no explanation and not offered anything while we waited even longer. When our food finally arrived, as pretty as it looked, the portion was so small we were both pretty disappointed. I paid £19 for a single slice of toast with half a tomato, a single mushroom, a tiny smear of avocado, a single poached egg and a very few beans and three tiny pieces of potato on the top - everything on my order fitted on top of the one fairly small slice of bread. The chickpea fritters were the size of two oven chips, not really what we were expecting and not a decent replacement for the large sausages and bacon on the standard breakfast or even for the two eggs and halloumi on the vegetarian breakfast. I'm really not normally fussy, but when I say it was disappointingly small! Finished it very quickly as a result and considering it was lunchtime by this point, we were both left hungry all day. I also ordered a decaf coffee for health reasons, however the second one was, I'm fairly sure, full caffeine and this was reflected as such on the bill which left me worried for my health all day. We didn't make a fuss, but I did receive apologies for the mixed up order and delay and was offered one of my drinks for free, though when I went to pay they tried to charge me full price and I had to ask for it back down. In general the service was incredibly slow and a bit forgetful and obviously something went wrong with our order. Hopefully they just had a bad day, but I don't think I'll be going back I'm afraid. I can't believe I paid nearly £20 for such a tiny breakfast!

The atmosphere of this resturant is amazing, cozy, elegant and the perfect spot for a coffee or meal. The staff were lovely and helpful, my server Abbie had a friendly smile and insightful suggestions. I would highly recommend this venue to my friends and family.

Came here for Sunday lunch with my family and dog. Food excellent (try the chorizo starters), service friendly, attentive but not rushed, made us feel we had all the time in the world. Nice wine list and our dog appreciated the bowling water. Overall a great spot.

Having visited almost exactly a year ago for my wife and I's first wedding anniversary, we were wondering if we had just fallen lucky with the experience we had last year. It is safe to say that we hadn't, and Cornerstone at Dyson Place truly is a consistent place to celebrate an occasion. Again, the purpose of our visit was immediately acknowledged, and Andy who was tending to our table was brilliant. We were more than happy with a slower pace for dining, and Andy was more than accommodating of that, leaving us plenty of time to decide between courses and enjoy the dishes we had ordered. Cornerstone is absolutely fantastic, and the two amazing experiences we have had to date is exactly the reason we will keep returning.

Food was lovely and there was a really good range of gluten free options (and the GF bread was nice!) Great service, friendly and efficient. Reaurant was very busy but we didn’t have to wait for food. Thoroughly recommend

Their drinks and food menus are dietary friendly with gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian and vegan options available so accommodate any dietary needs Their seasonal menu is just to die for, always bringing out the best flavours with the freshest ingredients locally sourced And the breakfasts are just sublime, I spoke with the owner Richard and he's got an Italian background so he knows what he's talking about when it comes to food! He was so polite and you can really see he has so much passion for his trade and wants to share that with everyone possible Definable worth a visit if your in Sheffield, you'll only be missing out if you don't! 11/10 spot on sharrow vale

We came here for a meal last Friday evening and wasn’t sure what to order. We asked the waitress if she would ask the chef to send out his recommendations and it ended up being the best meals we have had in Sheffield in a long time. The service is outstanding

I decided to visit here with the kids for a quick bite to eat after the reading the superb reviews on OpenTable. I must say, I was NOT let down by the quality of food and service. I was incredibly impressed by the young staff member who's name escapes me now, her professionalism at such a tender age was a delight to see (Cornerstone you must keep hold of her) The food was exquisite for myself as well as the children No doubt, I will be visiting again with the family as well as friends. Cannot recommend enough!

This is the place to be in Sheffield whether you're after cocktails with the girlies, a romantic date, night out with the bois or a quiet brunch during the day - The Cornerstone offers it all. Especially the delightful AK who made our evening and took care of us from initial eyesight with the cornerstone to seeing us on our way.

Came here for the first time last week with friends and what a fabulous evening we had! I would highly recommend the Halibut and steak and the Kamptal natural red wine. The service was faultless ,we will be coming again extremely soon.

Amazing place! Beautiful food, great service; smart and friendly but very professional. Visiting from Spain and was like being back home on the terrace in the sun! Very child friendly my two girls loved their poached eggs and keep asking for them!!We will be back for sure!

We were there for a family celebration, and the staff were so friendly and welcoming, really paying attention to us all. The wine was also delicious. All very reasonably priced for the quality. Lovely venue for our wedding meal. We hired the upstairs room for a group of 30. The restaurant was very accommodating and created a bespoke menu to fit various dietary requirements. Excellent service on the night: attentive without being overbearing. Big thanks to Richard, Steve, and the rest of the team.

One of the few places in Sheffield that reliably serves delicious food - inventive, fresh, seasonal combinations- with attentive service, and because of the size is often able to accommodate walk-ins. Which is great for us disorganised types. The venue is large and combines the original warehouse with quality modern design - and where previously the sound could get too loud they've taken care to soften this. We're looking forward to our next visit! 🥂

Booked a table online which was a simple process. On arriving we were greeted and told the table was inside but due to the weather they were happy to give us a table outside. Service is great and we chose items from the brunch menu. The food was delicious. This is our 3rd visit but won't be our last.

Excellent upmarket restaurant and cafe the food and drinks were very nice went for my niece's 18th birthday we had lots of nibbles to share and then we all had food from the brunch menu it was excellent the staff were very welcoming and friendly very nice place to go to
