The Darfield in Barnsley

We went to the Darfield as we held dads funeral wake there 16th of May and it was wonderful food was excellent the staff where great at a very sad time for our family we will definitely be going back to try the Sunday lunch and would highly recommend the Darfield for a function there is play area for children which is a bonus thank you to Dan and his whole team at the Darfield

We called this evening for tea. What an absolute hidden gem. The owner was so friendly & the food was superb. I had moussaka & my husband had stifado. Both with lemon potatoes. Can't recommend this restaurant enough.

We slipped through to Darfield for the wedding of some close friends, the venue itself was very nice, the service and staff were friendly. The meal was a little protracted as it took about 40 minutes to serve the first to the last of 24 meals. Maybe chef michael was on a go slow that afternoon. When it came to desserts the waiter came out and said "we only have 4 instead of 5 trifles as I have just dropped one" The evening reception was a lot better, the buffet was plentiful. Good pub priced drinks plus a good selection, 4 shots for £5 so no complaints there then.

Me and my wife go to The Darfield occasionally for our Sunday dinner and the food is fantastic. It is very good value for money and the portions are massive. The staff are friendly too. The Darfield is a nice little pub and well worth a visit.

My daughter had her wedding reception here afternoon and night she spoke to Jordan and went through everything with him from the room decorating to the afternoon food and the evening buffet and he certainly didn't disappoint the room looked amazing 100% professional the hot buffet was beautiful all the meats were tender and the best roast potatoes I've tasted all the guests commented on how lovely it was. When they brought out the evening buffet again we wasnt disappointed the choice of sandwiches was unreal and they did a beautiful seafood platter along with the usual sausage rolls pork pie they also did cakes and plenty of fruit plus lots more choices all beautiful again. The DJ and disco again very professional and entertaining he played music from every era depending on who was up dancing. The staff bless them worked so hard they were very polite and friendly keeping the tables clear of empty glasses inside and outside where they have two beer gardens one which has a play area for the children. I would highly recommend this pub for any function and also for popping in for a drink and a bite to eat 100%.

We went with my elderly mum after hearing good reports. There were no menus or anything so when we were asked what we wanted at the bar we didn’t know. Consequently several people who arrived after us got their food first. The food was ok but it took forever to arrive. It was Sunday lunch so not a huge menu. It also felt very “cliquey”. The food was ok when it came but not sure we would return. That said, it was obvious that other people visited regularly.

lovely Pub where I visited with friends while staying with them. Service was prompt and friendly. It was lovely and even had a little chat with the local drunk. The day was beautiful so I was sat outside in the beer garden and for those with children there is even a small play area. Well worth a visit when in Darfield

We booked lunch for twenty eight members of the Amenity Society some seven weeks in advance. From the menu all twenty eight of us selected our choice well in advance of our visit. We were welcomed very politely by the staff member and sat down at 12.30pm. The food was decent but the service was abysmal. There was just the one waitress to serve all twenty eight members. At 2.40pm we had to leave for another appointment and we left some members still to be served their dessert. The waitress worked very hard but was let down by the management. A missed opportunity to attract some of the members to return.
