The Crown Inn – Sunday Dinner Review Nestled in the heart of the village, The Crown Inn is everything you could want from a traditional countryside pub—warm, welcoming, and brimming with charm. This Sunday, we visited for their renowned Sunday roast, and it certainly lived up to its reputation. Ambiance/Atmosphere: The pub boasts a rustic yet homely feel, with wooden beams, and a mix of locals enjoying a relaxed afternoon. The atmosphere is friendly and unpretentious, perfect for a cozy Sunday meal. There’s a large beer garden outside, where families and their dogs gather in good weather, adding to the village feel. Service: The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Our server Michelle checked in just the right amount, ensuring we had everything we needed without being intrusive. Service was prompt, despite the pub being busy with locals and visitors alike. Food: The Sunday roast is the real star of the show. We opted for the roast pork and trout, both of which arrived with generous portions of crispy roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and lashings of rich gravy. The pork was perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor, while the trout was delicious. The vegetables, especially the honey-glazed carrots, were cooked to perfection and tasted wonderfully fresh. For dessert, we couldn’t resist the rice pudding, fruit pana cotta and brownie, which was the perfect ending to a hearty meal, served warm with a dollop of vanilla ice cream. Price: The prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. A full roast dinner is around £14-£16, which we found excellent value, especially considering the portion size and quality. The dessert was £6, and worth every penny. Unique Features: One of the lovely features of The Crown Inn is the sense of community—locals know the staff by name, and there’s a genuine warmth to the place. They also offer a selection of locally brewed ales on tap, which perfectly complemented the meal. Conclusion: If you’re looking for a traditional Sunday roast in a relaxed, friendly village setting, The Crown Inn should be at the top of your list. With generous portions, excellent service, and a cozy atmosphere, it’s a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Highly recommended for couples, or anyone looking to enjoy some hearty comfort food.

After a beautiful walk around Black Hill, the dog and I decided that I deserved a beer. We popped in here and had a really good pint of Ludlow Best. I can't comment on the food, but it looked excellent. The pub is lovely inside and the landlady(?) was really friendly. Places like this are so important to the fabric of our countryside. Get in there and enjoy it!

My favourite pub in all the west, exceptional food, excellent drinks, attention to quality and detail that goes above and beyond and a dash of comfy quirkiness to boot, I absolutely recommend to anyone passing through the area for food and company that you'll not forget! We recently enjoyed a meal as a family to celebrate an anniversary - we were taken care of and spoilt rotten! Five stars all round.

On holiday in Clunton so dropped in here for a pint. It's a lovely old pub that seems very popular with the locals. I was given an excellent couple of pints of real ale. Very good service from Michelle behind the bar who has a fantastic memory and is very entertaining. They have a really nice dining room and the food we had there was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Compliments to the chef. Parking is just over the road with plenty of space.

On holiday in the area & googled for good places to eat & found The Crown In Clunton nearby . So very glad we found it! Sharing platters for Saturday lunch, so seafood platter & a portion of their baked potato chips. Wow! What a choice. Everything was delicious and there was plenty for both of us. Wish more eateries would do things like this. The staff were friendly and there was a good atmosphere in the small bar area. Can’t speak too highly of this lovely hostelry.

We happen to be in a B&B within a short distance from the the Crown Inn so booked dinner for two nights. What a refreshing change to have a pub that you can really relax in. It has a great atmosphere with lots of friendly local’s who are proud to be a part of this jewel . It’s all down to the wonderful cheeky Michelle who runs her bar like ..well you’ll see for yourself she has personality plus. The food blows the mind by being absolutely different . Chef (Blaine) has a wonderful ability to turn out the most amazing dishes . My favourite being the duck followed by his tantalising milk chocolate cheese cake.. we’ll be back . 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Chris and Jenny from Dorset.

As we were staying over the Christmas holidays in one of the chalets at the Clun Valley Lodges, only 5 minutes walk away, The Crown became our defacto 'local' for the time we were there. The landlord (Andy) and lady (Della) were affable and welcoming and the general ambience of the place agreeable - helped in no small way by the wood burning fire in the bar. The pub was bought and is now owned by a local consortium after it was threatened with redevelopment after closure in the early 90's. It opened again in 1995 is well patronised by locals, has a phenomenal reputation for food and has featured often in the Good Beer Guide. Warm, welcoming, popular, good food and beer - which really, when you think about it, ticks most of the boxes.

We were staying near by and called in for Fish and Chips, The foodwas really good, very tasty and the portion size was enormous. 3 people so fish and chips x 3 and the was enough for 5 people. also had a potato fritter, so nice I'm still thinking of it 2 weeks later I'd be back again but we were just visiting the area so don't know if we'll get the chance but if I'm passing anywhere near I'd make a detour. The staff were super friendly, chatting whilst we waited for the food to be freshly cooked. Proper fish and chip shop and totally recommend.
